The property was perfect for what we wanted.

Great location and facilities. Spacious and ideal with kids. Unfortunately the property needs a deal clean. It was very dirty and we had to clean up when we arrived. It also lacked a little personal touch. There was no welcome, no basic needs like tea or coffee. Which was a shame as the property itself could have been perfect if the above was sorted.

Unfortunately very unclean.

Stains on bedding and towels, mould in the shower, mouse droppings in the cleaning room, dog hair and crumbs on the sofa as well as general cleaning not done. Tried contacting them directly when we arrived but they didnt reply. Not good value for money as it didnt supply toiletries like hand soap or bodywash also no floor mats for the bathrooms.

What a wonderful cottage this is, it had everything needed for to make our party comfortable.

The facilities were brilliant and the location was perfect for making the most of the hiking. Thanks for a brilliant stay :-)

Lovely location and perfect for our needs.

Some excellent gifts were awaiting us. Some other feedback- lots of spiders around the ceilings which we hovered up on arrival and badly damaged stair handle where the brackets were pulled from the wall. In summary, excellent location which we really enjoyed but some general maintenance required.

Beautiful large house, in such picturesque surroundings. The perfect location. Would definitely recommend.

An excellent base for our Snowdon climb!

The house was always warm, and the shower and beds were spot on. The views were excellent and its only a short drive to the start of every Snowdon route, and a major supermarket.

On arrival we were hit by the smell of a huge pile of rubbish right by the back door.

It consisted of black bin bags full of food waste, carry bags full of wastes, two boxes full of waste and two huge boxes of empty cans and bottles. See attached photo. It was so unclean we found cockroaches and mice see photo. We had to clear all the rubbish from the back door as this created an awful smell. We then cleaned the patio as the children wanted to play outside and we wanted to sit in the sun and use the garden furniture. However this garden furniture was also filthy and left in disarray over the garden, please see photo. The cutlery drawer was filthy with crumbs and stickiness so we washed up and cleaned all the cutlery and crockery. Glass wear provided was old and stained, see photo. The kitchen floor was also filthy and left a dirty rim on the floor where the bar stool had been kept, please see photo. When we arrived we requested that the rubbish was collected and it was not collected until over 24 hours later, bearing in mind we were only staying for two nights. Other parts of the house were also dirty like blinds and window frames. This is such a shame as the house has lovely character, great situation, great size rooms and potential for a great stay and is clearly not being looked after and up to the standard expected for letting. I wonder if the owners actually are aware that their property is not being maintained properly. We have rented through Sykes before and are renting through lake lovers in the summer I hope this is not what I find again! I expect compensation for arriving to a house in this condition, spending time on my holiday cleaning and the disappointment we were met with for a weekend that had been booked for a 40th birthday! What a let down! I look forward to your response. Please advise me where I can send photo evidence.

Lovely cottage.

Really beautiful place. A few more cleaning products/bin bags etc would have been useful to ensure we could keep it cleaner. But besides that, it was a perfect stay :) Would definitely recommend to a friend!

The house was lovely clean and nicely decorated every thing you need for your stay all bedding and bed very high quality a well thought out and useful kitchen (loved the cakes that were left for us on arrival a nice thought), I wouldn’t think twice about rebooking

We stayed here over Christmas, living room is massive but do take slippers because the floor is cold, it was tidy and clean, there was a bit of dust but who dosent have a bit of dust every now and then, if you stay for longer than 1 nights I would suggest taking your own stuff, one hand-wash between 3 bathrooms and 3 dishwasher tablets, no cleaning spray to wash the sides down and tea towels think we had 2, 11 people 3 nights stay, over Christmas, not a masher in sight, all in all it was a beautiful place and the kids loved it especially the back garden, but do be careful in the rain it gets really slippery, I would definitely stay here again, kitchen table was lovely to sit round with all the family!

A lovely cottage in wonderful countryside, you got good view backside of the cottage having table and chair to have your drinks.

Moreover they provide a wine bottle and crisp which was outstanding welcome drink for us. Clean rooms and newly refurbished kitchen with all utensils. Totally 5 star rating. Negative - I think forget to provide shower gel, and please remind if its Estate car parking need to be careful. Will touch the bump of the car.

There were a large number of ants in one of the double bedrooms which wasn’t ideal, especially with children.

The sheets smelt musty and damp in all the rooms, which meant none of us slept comfortably. Otherwise the kitchen had good facilities

Fantastic property, very clean and very well equipped.

We stayed at Glyn Awel for a long weekend on Easter Bank Holiday.

We had an amazing stay, and as a large family group of 12 there was ample space for all of us. The cottage was easy to get to, beautifully refurbished and the kitchen was fully stocked with adequate utensils and cutlery for cooking and serving. There are washing, drying and ironing facilities. On our arrival there was a hamper of tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits provided, which was a very nice gesture. The views are amazing and we found good walking trails nearby. The Watkins trail to climb Snowdonia is only a short walk from the cottage and there is also a nearby coffee shop. However, there were some issues during our stay. There was no welcome pack which normally includes instructions on how to use the heating system, kitchen appliances or details on refuse and recycling. There was only one bin in the kitchen which quickly filled up and there were no additional bin bags provided so we had to source our own. The bins outside the property were already completely full. The dishwasher did not work. The microwave was temperamental and on the last day the kettle stopped working. The shower room did not have a lock on the door and did not shut properly. The fan in the shower room was also very loud. In one of the double bedrooms we could not use the lamps as the lamp plugs did not reach the sockets, and there was no extension leads. There were no logs, kindling or fire lighters supplied for the stoves, this really should have been mentioned or a small starter pack would have been nice. The driveway is a bit steep and covered in loose shale stones. One of our cars struggled to enter the drive when it was wet. Also you need to be extra careful when entering and exiting the drive to avoid scraping the bottom of the cars. Despite these minor issues, it would not deter us from returning or recommending Glyn Awel to others.

Whilst we had a great stay at Glyn Awel we would like to point out a few things that might benefit future occupants - a blind or curtains on the downstairs cloak room as it could be a bit embarrassing if people are dining/sitting outside.

The door into the porch needs oiling as it speaks very badly. We think a hand rail should be fitted to one side of the stairs as they are quite steep- isn’t one required for building regs? We did have a problem with the dish washer - the outlet pipe was blocked off but we managed to sort that problem out. Apart from these minor problems we thought the house was more than adequately furnished with lots of crockery, cutlery, utensils and pots and pans. Also the welcome package of milk, Bara Brith and snacks was a nice surprise and very thoughtful of the owners. Thank you once again.
