Description

Caernarfon 1.8 miles.

A short drive from the royal town of Caernarfon, Gwynedd and surrounded by a wealth of history and luscious countryside is this beautifully appointed barn conversion, Y Felin (The Granary).

Enjoying the benefits of its own designated parking space, panoramic rural views and a private patio, Y Felin (The Granary) is an idyllic escape for a couple wishing to visit this part of Wales.

Make your way inside to be welcomed by an open-plan living space and feel the warmth of the underfloor heating on your toes.

Here you will find the stylish, U-shaped kitchen, a space boasting blue units hosting integrated appliances and an adjoining breakfast bar, where you can savour a romantic meal together.

As the evening draws in curl up with your loved one on the plush sofa, whilst you recount the day's adventures, sip a glass of wine and catch up with your favourite programmes on the Smart TV.

In the warmer months, venture out to the patio for a spot of alfresco dining cooked on the built in barbecue, with the amazing backdrop of Snowdonia in the distance.

When sleep calls, continue to the king-size bedroom, where you can also find a stylish en-suite shower room to wash away the day.

The property also enjoys access to a shared external utility room, where you can find a handy washing machine and storage space for bikes.

When you're not making the most of this spectacular property, venture out into the local town of Caernarfon, boasting rich history and culture.

There's so much to explore here at any time of the year, including its imposing 13th century castle, where you can take guided tours and explore the Royal Welch Fusiliers museum contained within its walls.

Enjoy a trip on the Welsh Highland Railway, which lets you explore the beautiful scenery of the area in a different way and taking you all the way to the town of Porthmadog, well-worth a venture for its charming atmosphere, delightful views, and easy access to the Italianate village of Portmeirion.

The town of Caernarfon itself hosts plenty of amenities to assist you on a self-catered stay including local shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as, fishing trips from the harbour, a popular activity for all ages.

Those seeking a traditional day by the sea will delight at the easy access to the Isle of Anglesey, boasting a wide range of beautiful sandy beaches, rich history and plenty of attractions; you can even take the ferry over to Ireland for the day if you wish!

Spend time exploring the beauty of the Snowdonia National Park, offering walking routes like no other, with rewarding views aplenty and a diverse wildlife waiting to be discovered.

Adrenaline junkies will love a day out at Zip World, a former slate quarry and home to the fastest zip line in the world, where you can fly 500 metres above the bright blue quarry lake.

For the less energetic amongst you, a more relaxed day can be enjoyed in the cathedral city of Bangor, where you can visit Storiel art centre, the perfect place to pick up a souvenir for your loved ones back home, or, why not spend a day at the National Trust’s Penrhyn Castle and Gardens, with its dominating stone façade, opulent interiors and fine art collection.

For a romantic break that you'll both cherish forever, choose Y Felin (The Granary).

We had such a great time at Y Felin!

We've visited this area so much in our 12 years together that, when we come back, it's more important to us that we have somewhere clean and comfortable to stay than finding new things to do. We really just want a home from home and Y Felin is, honestly, one of the best cottages we've stayed in. We had everything we could ask for and every eventuality had been thought of. We loved having breakfast at the breakfast bar, watching the dramatic clouds rolling over the horizon and evenings were super cozy, cuddled up on the sofa in front of the TV. Kathie was a wonderful host - great communication before hand and welcomed us on the day of arrival. The welcome pack was an unexpected treat and the eggs in particular (from the farm itself) were phenomenal. We'd only been there a day and we were already trying to decide when we were coming back! Caernarfon is practically on your doorstep, just a few minutes away by car. You're also only a 15 minute drive from the North Wales Expressway which will get you just about anywhere along the coast (Conwy and Llandudno are our favourites). Y Felin really is the perfect getaway and we can't wait to visit again.
