Oriel Cottage

It was a lovely place to stay, Conwy is a great place and a really good base for days in surrounding areas.

Greeted by wonderful treats, thankyou, nice touch.

Cottage just what we needed with everything we needed. Parking was fine just the odd person parking for Gallery but would leave between 5/6pm. Very on the ball host, toaster was broken on arrival new one arrived almost immediately after reporting it. Great location everything walking distance and train station not far. Only downside I found was the beer garden at the back ( I know this can't be helped) but its not on any review. In the day and evening, if we were in, the weather was lovely and liked the back door open but it just ruined the peacefulness with pub laughter, jeering etc. I just think it's something I would have liked to have known before going .

This was our third visit to Oriel Cottage.

The property is beautifully appointed and has everything you need for a fabulous holiday. The location is perfect for access to the town of Conwy and the surrounding areas. It's just a short walk from the stunning Morfa Beach. We will be returning in September.

Lovely place in the middle of Conwy, close to shops buses and trains.

The property was very clean and comfortable, we didn’t want for anything. The welcome goodies were much appreciated. Will definitely book again.

Fantastic appliances, loved the digital oven with lots of control and exact temperatures.

Washer dryer also very useful. The large dining room table was perfect for a jigsaw, with still room to eat, although we mainly used the breakfast bar, loved the chairs which went with this! Comfy sofa and large smart TV gave you the same options as home. I did add some more leaflets for things to do as many were out of date and left a jigsaw as games were limited. A guest book with recommendations would have been a useful touch. Location so close to everything yet tucked away. Did the whole holiday by train and bus, this was easy. Welsh cakes were delicious!

Loved Oriel Cottage.

So much we plan to visit again next year. It’s spotless and so well equipped and set out. Parking was fine for us but the road does get blocked by people parking at top sometimes but we were able to reverse up the road instead. The cottage is homely and modern with such a high level of equipment. My only addition would be blinds in the bathroom as I did feel a bit exposed when getting undressed for a shower. And so did my daughter in law who came with us. Definitely will book again. Had a very special time thank you.

We loved the cottage and the central location spot on.

It was are first time visiting North Wales and realy enjoy it. The cottage was homely and comfortable. Thank you for a lovely holliday. We'll be back

Lovely cottage which is so close to all you want in Conwy, parking can be tricky but plenty of car parks within a short distance when could not get in front of cottage.

This is to be expected in an old town with We will definitely stay here again, cottage very comfy with everything we needed

Lovely cottage.

Very clean and cosy. Perfect location, right in the centre of Conwy with shops and restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Cottage is very well equipped with everything you need to make you feel at home. Enclosed back garden perfect for our dog. Garden has nice seating area with pretty lights at night. Thank for the treats when we arrived. We would definitely recommend Oriel Cottage.

Spotlessly clean. Great location. 6th time we've stayed and the owners have upgraded several times so, well maintained and looked after

The doors upstairs all need attention they open all the time but embarrassing while trying to dress.

They are also a fire hazard. Then the airing cupboard in the 2nd bedroom needs emptying so guests in the 2nd room have somewhere to store their clothes. The duvet had mould on it, The mattress protectors were very badly stained I'm glad I took my own pillow. The cottage downstairs is beautiful they have really tried to make it look stunning but the places just needs some tweaks,outside the cottage was full of dog muck and I caught the man who lived doors away and made him pick it all up his words were he loved there he could do what he wanted. He also likes to block the full lane with his car so you can't park. I'm surprised this has only been mentioned in 1 other reviews. The butchers 3 doors up is 24 hrs per day so if you're a light sleeper I'd give this place a miss. Cleanliness is bob on and I genuinely feel sorry for the owners as you can tell they have tried. We stay in Whitby yearly and we're used to drinks passing the cottage and seagulls but the butchers was something else it was hot so the windows needed to be open maybe if you could sleep with a window shut the place would be ok. The man from up the street needs sorting as according to 101 he's been doing it for that long they can't touch him as he isn't on double yellow lines! So good luck getting parked up and watching for land mines of dog muck.

Fabulous cottage, so close to all amenities in Conwy.

Tony the owner visited just after we arrived and showed us how all the appliances etc worked which was great. The cottage was beautifully refurbished to a high standard and the little courtyard garden was perfect for the sunshine. Over the wall is the beer garden for the pub in the High Street and was a little noisy at the weekend (especially as we were there when the Pirate Festival was on) but once you were indoors with the windows closed you couldn't hear a thing. We had no problem parking outside on Crown Lane. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and Conwy in general. A fab holiday.

Absolutely loved staying in this accommodation.

Spotlessly clean and everything you could possibly need provided. Location could not have been better. We travelled by train and the cottage was literally a few yards walk. Our daughter came by car and parked outside the door quite easily. Definitely would recommend and sure we will be back to stay again ourselves.

We have loved are stay , lovely cottage, really enjoyed it, would definitely stay again, couldn’t fault anything, we love Conwy.

This is the third time that we have stayed at this cottage.

For us it is ideally situated and you can park outside. The car didn't move all week as we used our bus passes.

We throughly enjoyed our time at oriel cottage, pretty cottage in a great location just a few things that we would of found useful, hooks on the doors in the bathroom/bedrooms Storage in the 2nd bedroom isn’t sufficient So was a bit of a struggle Other than that we found it really well equipped and very clean and we would come back and recommend to others

Lovely cottage in prime location for buses/trains and other amenities Spa shop and fantastic deli/butcher 50yards away Conwy can be very busy so parking can be difficult The cottage has on street parking outside We managed to park on our arrival and left the car there for the week We used trains and buses to travel which we found to be very good value.

Lovely meals had at the Erskine Arms and the Italian restaurant For real ale drinkers the Albion is a must with 6 well kept ales.We also enjoyed the Tapps 4 real ales and about 12 craft beers The cottage was spotless and had everything you could need but we think maybe a couple of new mattresses would make a difference.

Could have done with thicker curtains (blackout lined) as the bedroom wasn't dark in the morning. Otherwise everything was excellent.

Beautiful cottage 2nd time we have stayed, do think new mattress is required in main bedroom as current one is squeaky and uncomfortable also outdoor seating arms on chairs loose, didn't stop us enjoying ourselves and would defo stay again

Lovely cottage and well positioned in the centre of town.

We had an issue with handles coming off doors but reported it and the problem was fixed during our stay. The cottage is comfortable and warm. Would definitely return.

Sensor in bathroom instead of a switch in not a good idea as you can be in bath or shower and the light will turn off.

Had to mend door handle in bathroom as door was very stiff and handle came off in my hand when when I had to pull hard to open, the handles fitted are not for doors with ball catch’s. Had clean up dog mess in yard from previous occupants (sorry forgot to move the bag) Seating is very uncomfortable.

Fantastic cottage but disappointed when we arrived to find the previous holiday makers bedding, towels etc left inside by the door.

We should have phoned Sykes about it but we arrived late at the cottage so just moved it out of the way and quickly forgot about it. Apart from this the cottage was clean, had a very well equipped kitchen and was nice and spacious. Wasn't too fussed on the double bed in the main bedroom, it was very, very firm and like sleeping on concrete maybe a memory foam mattress topper would help. Some information regarding bins/recycling is needed. Overall though it was a lovely cottage in the middle of Conwy town centre. We would definitely book again.

This was our second visit to Oriel cottage.

This time under new ownership. The cottage has everything needed for a comfortable stay and has clearly been redecorated. There is plenty of information about the local area and an instruction pack regarding all electrical items (emergency contact number would be beneficial). Parking can be difficult at the property but there is a public car park within a short walking distance. The cakes were very welcome on arrival although a pint of milk would also be great to enable us to have made a drink after a long journey. We had issues with the door handles at the property as many of them stick probably due to the redecorating. However a quick call to Sykes who resolved the issue with the owner within 24 hours. All in all a great stay.

Oriel cottage is a lovely little property in a superb location, right in the heart of Conwy and a couple of minutes' walk from the harbour.

The property is in excellent decorative order with and is very comfortable and well appointed. It was also spotlessly clean. There is a large screen TV with access to Netflix (via logging in to your own account) and there is a very sweet little courtyard garden with table and chairs. The beds were very comfortable and bed linen was of a good quality. There is a roomy bathroom with both a bath and large shower (the light in here is sensor activated). It is situated off the high street in Conwy so everything was a few minutes' walk away. Would thoroughly recommend.

A super comfortable, dog friendly cottage in central Conwy opposite Plas Mawr - the finest surviving Elizabethan townhouse in Britain (well worth a visit)!

The cottage was spotless on our arrival, new carpeting on the stairs and in bedrooms, new beds which we found extremely comfortable and freshly painted - what more could we ask for. Downstairs was equally comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and small enclosed courtyard garden. There is tight on street car parking opposite the cottage but it's a bit of a lottery, so on occasions we left our car outside the town walls - just a 5-10 walk away. An award winning butchers on the corner, plenty of fish and chip shops and cafes, along with a good choice of walks from the cottage. We had a very enjoyable week, perfect for 3 adults and our little dog. Thank you.

We had a wonderful week.

Cottage was spacious and comfortable and very clean. Lovely wood burning stove for chilly evenings.plenty of space in the kitchen to share cooking with family. The cottage is in the centre of town so really convenient for the shops and pubs. We will definitely be back.

3rd time we stayed at Oriel Cottage ( twice before the Covid Pandemic).

Everything you would need to stay for a dog friendly week was provided, even a very generous welcome pack. Very clean, very comfortable, very warm and able to adjust to suit. Can't rate it enough. Great location. Owners appear to focus on renters having a good stay and no " penny pinching"

The cottage was filthy.

I had to do a complete top to bottom clean of the whole property. The armchair is disgustingly dirty. I wouldn’t sit on it. There were dog hairs in our bed (we didn’t take a dog). The floor trims were unfinished and came away from the floor. There were cobwebs around every light fitting. There was a gap between the bath and the shower which was disgusting. Unfinished paintwork over the whole cottage. Dead flies under the bed. There was a screw on the light pull that could’ve easily hurt our hand when we switched the light on. The floor was so filthy, my crawling son had black hands & feet after the first day. I contacted Sykes on the first day and they offered me a £214 refund from a £720 holiday. Obviously I refused as we had nowhere else to go and this is our yearly family holiday. Conwy is beautiful but this cottage was disgusting and borderline ruined our holiday. Sykes have been awful throughout the whole complaint process too. We are not usually people to complain but we feel we’ve been absolutely insulted and robbed.

Oriel Cottage was right in the centre of Conwy, a delightful town and a great location to explore the North Wales Coast.

The property had everything you need for a holiday, it was comfortable, cosy and clean.

Very clean when we got there and lovely greeting package when we arrived. The beds so comfy as well . We parked our car outside the cottage all week and used local transport to get about so easy . Would definitely return and missing the cottage already and Conwy lovely place .

On the plus side the cottage is in a great location, it’s clean, warm, comfortable and cosy.

The garden is small but enclosed and safe to let a dog out for the toilet. The street is very narrow and having seen the missing door mirrors, dents and scratches on other cars I chose to pay around £5 a day to park in a car park. Directly behind the back wall of the garden is a pub garden, you can’t see it due to the height difference but on busy evenings you can definitely hear it up until around 1am. The cottage is in a central town location so I guess this has to be expected. It didn’t worry us as we didn’t need the back windows open but a family with children visiting during a hot time of year should be aware. The bed is extremely squeaky and woke us up when we moved in the night. The bedrooms need thermostatic values on the radiators as a comfortable temperature downstairs means the bedrooms are like ovens. We had to ensure the windows were open in the bedrooms and we turned the heating off a good hour before we went to bed otherwise it was too hot to sleep. Both bedrooms have TV’s none of which got a reception. This was a big factor in us choosing the cottage as we like to watch TV in bed at night and have breakfast in bed with the TV which we couldn’t do. On day 2 we noticed a bad smell in the kitchen which eventually took over the whole downstairs. We reported it (as we’d done with the other issues above) and although people came out, it couldn’t be resolved. We were told that the row of cottages, being old, has an issue with drains and this is why there is a bad smell in the cottage. If this is the case it should be in the description, we were unable to be in the cottage, let alone eat in it, as a result we spent very little time in the cottage. After a week of calling Sykes, we were given a small amount of compensation but it came nowhere near to the disruption and discomfort we had to endure.

all good, just a coup[le of minor things.

Having a dishcloth and a teatowel would have been handy. No welcome folder for info (apart from machine instructions). parking is a problem if you have mobility issues. back yard is next to a pub garden which is very noisy at night. lots of lovely "choice" words being shouted. but saying this i would stay again

A great cottage in a good location,warm, clean and with everything we needed.

The main bed was comfortable but the bed springs so creaky it woke me up every time we turned over as I'm a light sleeper. We had to use both beds therefore so I could sleep The towels were clean and soft but far too small.

A cosy house in the center of conwy parking outside is a little tricky due to narrow old streets
