Bro Mebyd was in a good location, but the property was a bit dated.

The bed was soft and the settee was even softer. It could do with a bit of an upgrade. The street was lovely and quiet, and it was a pleasure to sit out in the well maintained, dog friendly garden. The conservatory had ants (ant powder had been put around the perimeter) and the roof leaked when it rained, hence the strategically placed towel on the ledge. Overall perhaps a bit overpriced for what it offered.

We really loved the accommodation and would definitely book again Didn’t give five stars as the housekeeping team hadn’t done a thorough job dog hairs in various places sat on the double bed and noticed under the cabinet in the hall loads of hair (we ended up not bringing our dog as we unfortunately lost him just before we came away) we would have vaccumed it up but the vacuum in the cupboard was useless handle broken and no suction Also some spare bin bags would have been helpful as once we emptied the bins nothing to put in them But all in all nice place to stay

We had a very relaxing time.

We have stayed at Bro Mebyd a few times in the past and it is in the perfect location for us. We were extremely pleased that you have listened to feedback and put thicker curtains in the front bedroom - that small change had a massive impact on my comfort. As usual wecmade good use of the garden and conservatory and walked to the beach several times, as well as getting out and about along the Lyn Peninsula and up into Eryri. Theres a couple of maintenance tasks that you ought to pick up on to avoid wear and rear type damage (shower room window is very stiff) and we do miss the days of there being a small welcome package for guests, but overall a great place to stay that fits our budget (and most importantly, allows us to bring our dog). Thank you. We will book again.

Having just spent 7 nights at Bro Mebyd, we found the property to be ideal for our requirements.

First of all the location is very nice with a 2 minute walk to the sea front. The bungalow itself has a nice sized, enclosed, garden which is accessed through a more than adequate conservatory. The main rooms in the property are spacious enough for 4 people to live in and are well appointed. We did find, however, that the settees were a little to "soft" for us. But that is a matter of taste. The only gripe we would have is the lack of mop and bucket, which made it difficult to keep clean. That is only a minor detail. As mentioned earlier the nice location affords easy access to Porthmadog, Portmeirion, Pwllheli etc. All in all we had a relaxing week in pleasant surroundings. We would consider returning in the next 12 months.

Had a lovely stay at Bro Mebyd, lovely and clean and the bed was lovely and comfortable, loved the conservatory too, peaceful and relaxing.

Bro Mebyd is a lovely bungalow in a perfect spot and from the minute we walked in we felt comfortable.

The facilities are top quality, the enclosed garden was perfect for our dog and the parking was very handy in a small town on the beach. The only thing that has stopped me giving it the perfect 5 stars was the bed, the mattress was far too soft to sleep on, if one person turned over the other had a tidal wave effect from the mattress and we spent most of the week sleeping in the single beds in the spare room, if there was a new mattress then I would happily give the 5 stars that this property deserves.

We had a power cut on the Sunday evening which was eventually fixed by Scottish Power who identified the problem as a fuse in the main fuse box in Criccieth.

We had no light or heat for over five hours and were unable to make a cup of tea even. We contacted Sykes representative who sent Steve Holden,their maintenance man for the area. He arrived with his wife and they could not have been more helpful. In fact,when they saw our plight,they supplied us with a powerful torch before going home and returning with tea lights, filled hot water bottles, a flask of soup and a flask of hot water. May we suggest the property be equipped with a torch!

Bro Mebyd was a lovely property.

It was well appointed and very comfortable. It was lovely to have the open plan living, cooking and dining area so that we could be together and not isolated when cooking. The conservatory was a welcome space, perfect for sitting and reading or, in my case, cross stitching. Both showers were good with great water pressure. The garden was completely enclosed and great for the dog. Just a short walk to the beach and coastal paths. There are plenty of walks just a short drive away. Criccieth itself had all we needed; shops, cafes, pub and the castle. We had a lovely stay and hope to return one day.

We had a good stay, and property is in a great location close to the beach and the high street.

Maybe a couple of small improvements to make the property a 5 star - the kitchen crockery and glassware was a bit of a mixture, and we normally stay places where everything is consistent. Also, the garden wasn't 100% dog proof as our Spaniel ended up in next doors back garden!

We would not have booked this property after reading the reviews but our original booking was cancelled 2 weeks before we were going so needed somewhere asap so we took a chance on Bro Mebyd.

What a mistake that was. The place is damp ( still) black mould in main bedroom and stinks. Most of the windows don’t or won’t open ( still misted and blown) in main bedroom. The cleanliness of this place is the worst we have been in ever, sticky everywhere , cobwebs, washed everything before we used it, generally slap dash. Couldn’t use the key code box, the top of it was on the floor when we arrived, we managed eventually to get the key out but didn’t dare leave it in there until we went home in case we couldn’t get it out again, not fit for purpose, not being funny but it’s not a lot to replace is it ? The conservatory has leaks in the top corners and needs attention.The only good thing about this property is the location and the enclosed garden for the dog. All in all the price you are asking for this property is far too much for the standard of it. It is very tired and needs some money spending on it which by reading previous reviews you still haven’t done. Emailed and spoke to Sykes without any feedback which was promised , very disappointing .

Beautiful bungalow great location rear garden very private an safe for our poodle short stroll to criccieth beach and shops on the negative side as mentioned by previous clients the curtains in bedroom let all the light in which interrupted your sleep which not good when on holiday I think black out blinds are needed for your paying guests all in we had a nice stay 13 June 20 June Anita

A lovely bungalow .

Conservatory is bright comfy overlooking the lovely lawn, made the stay welcoming listening to the birds whilst relaxing. The kitchen is well equipped, there are two or three new pans, the non stick coating has scraped off the fry pans new ones are required ( this has been mentioned by previous renters more than once.) The bedroom drawers and wardrobe insides had been sprayed copiously with furniture polish which stuck to my clothes Blackout curtains/blinds are a must..We put black bin bags at the windows as the brightness woke all up at dawn. polyester bedding

Bro mebyd lovely large bungalow,ideal position for local Amenities, beach and base for exploring, nice garden and conservatory to relax in.

Negative remarks, lacking in general maintenance, Windows in lounge and rear bedroom misted, bedside Lamp not working, both reported on previous feedbacks Not happy with standard of cleaning, very slapdash and of lots of dog hair still around floors.shower room floor Was very sticky which we had to clean. And on top of all That no welcome pack.all a bit of a shame considering price.

Great place to stay for a break.

This is our third stay and we’ve already booked to come back in September. Great location, nice and quiet with everything you need for a holiday.

This is the second time we have stayed at Bro Mebyd.

We love it. It's warm comfortable. Lovely conservatory. Great back garden for our dog. The area is beautiful. We hopefully will be back next year.

We stayed from 27th September for a week and found it to be a mixture of good and bad.

On the good side it was clean and very spacious for 4 people. We liked the new sofas and the conservatory gave good additional space. On the not so good side, the double bedroom was damp and had mildew all over the wall behind the bed, not good as two of us have asthma. Also in that room one of the bedside lights didn’t work. We tried changing the bulb but it still didn’t work. The central heating was erratic and tended to be off in the middle of the day and very hot in the middle of the night. We wonder if a previous power outage may have messed with the timer? We do like to cook on holiday and were very disappointed that there were only small pans, nothing large enough to cook for 4 adults. We ended up getting our own pans. There wasn’t a large serving spoon or ladle either. The single beds were both pretty uncomfortable. On a minor point we were left only 3 bath towels not 4. Although this is quite a long list of negatives, the location was great and we had a good time.

General maintenance- bathroom blind.

Heating needs attention. Extremely loud banging so did not use.TV remote - bought new batteries but still useless. Seating - very uncomfortable. Conservatory seating much better. No information regarding items for recycling. Every area differs so all waste in green bin. Garden - lawn grass very long. Kitchen needs to be better equipped for self catering. Bought frypans and other kitchen equipment to enable us to self cater. Thankfully only two of us. Four would struggle

Good location for town and beach and we very much appreciated having two bathrooms and a large private garden.

Plenty of hot water and the heating worked when we wanted it. Its already been noted that the windows are due to be replaced so we understood that and we found the sofas a little uncomfortable. However, the conservatory is a lovely place to sit especially as the property is not overlooked at the back. We also did not receive a welcome pack but were prepared so this was not a big issue for us. We enjoyed our stay, thank you.

We had a great stay and had everything that we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay.

We were also incredibly lucky with the weather....lots of sunshine! If you are looking for feedback on possible improvements there are a couple of things that would make it even better - but really we loved the place and had a great stay. 1 - the streetlights at the front are very bright - if you upgrade the curtains in the front bedroom to something with a heavier backing that would make for a better night's sleep. 2 - some of the pans are ready for a refresh - but we appreciate how this is more down to guests not taking care. Oh...also...that cute little seagull jug wasn't there this time. That used to make me smile as it was so seasidey.

Great stay at Bro Mebyd.

Lovely bungalow in a fabulous location. Loved the conservatory and garden. Just a few things I feel would enhance the home. It’s definitely in need of a thorough clean, inside of the front window is marked with dog nose prints and the window frames are very dirty in places. The shower room wall tiles are grubby and have evidence of dried soap lather on them from previous renters. The double glazed units in the bungalow are misted inside and have condensation in them as they’ve broken down, more noticeable in the front in the evening sun, these need replacing - it spoils the view of the lovely garden too. Concise information regarding what recycling goes in each bin is needed - I had to run after the bin men on the Friday morning as they wouldn’t take the full box of glass bottles as the previous people had put an aerosol can in there. Access to washing/drying facilities I feel is essential on holidays. There were no extra blankets if required. This is the first holiday accommodation we’ve stayed in and not been left welcoming goodies. All said though we did have a lovely holiday and just a few improvements could make Bro Mebyd perfect.

When we arrived we shortlly went for a lie down as we are both getting on a bit.

Much to our horror the bedding was very damp.We phoned up the number on our sheet and left a message on thier answer phone asking for dry beddind to be provided.There was no response so we had to spend ages drying the bedding tith a hair dryer.What a lousy way to start a holiday. The location was good and the garden very nice.However the furnit.ure was worn and dated.Also there was no alternative heating to the central heating which was a bit erratic.There was sufficent amenities but the place had a neglected feel to it and needs updating.

Bro Mebyd is a home away from home and has all the facilities to make the stay comfortable.

Well maintained and the owner has taken the time to leave instructions for ways to travel around and places to visit. The beach and castle are very close and high street is a 10 min walk. Had a great experience and will book again.

The beds and towels were spotless. The dog was safe and secure in the back garden. We would like to go back again.

..Great location and really nice place. We love the conservatory...Great place to sit with a coffee in the morning and for a relax after a day out...and with a nice garden and view of the hillside. Lovely. And we could hear the sea from the garden too. You could make the property even better for us by putting curtains with a heavier lining in the front bedroom - the streetlamp outside was a bit bright for me so blocking that a bit would be great.

Great location especially once we found the little alleyways.

Garden and conservatory particularly nice. Power shower excellent although bathrooms quite cold.Couches are a bit dated and not terribly comfy but ok. Nitpicking here but could really do with serving spoons. Hard to dish up with tablespoons Enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Plenty of hot water and great powerful showers! As others have stated pans etc could do with replacing but it’s only for a short time and didn’t spoil our holiday as you improvise! Would definitely use this accommodation again .

The essential item that the cottage could do with we think is a pair of kitchen scissors only a small item but greatly used.

qgen available. Also both green waste bins are in need of replacement as the are both damaged and you have to be careful when putting them out for emptying. On the good side the garden is secure so our dog Cooper could have plenty of zoomies around the garden.It is a lovely quiet area.The prince of Wales pub in the village is friendly and has so cracking food on offer also the castle chippy is another place to visit as the fish and chips are outstanding.

Very comfortable and well equipped property close to facilities and in an ideal location for exploring this part of north Wales.

Lovely conservatory and garden. Had a very enjoyable week. One small point - absence of a food waste recycling container seemed strange, otherwise clear explanations provided on how to deal with waste disposal.

I really enjoyed our stay and think it is a lovely property, well located.

The local team were very helpful, the national Sykes team slightly less so. I had a problem the first night I was there, when a blown bulb tripped all of the switches in the house. I was staying with my 93 yo mother, so it was quite scary to be left in the dark. The national Sykes team were not too helpful, but passed me on to a local contact, who was lovely and helpful. However, if you left info on how to access the garage and fuse panel in the guest info, a few fraught hours would have been avoided. Apart from that, we had a lovely stay.

We appreciated the milk and cakes on our arrival.

We liked the conservatory and enclosed garden and also the kitchen area. However, we found the sofas very uncomfortable - in fact all the lounge area is dated and needs modernising. There were no instructions on how to use the appliances. The toilet does not flush properly. The bedroom carpets need replacing. We do like the location of the property.

There were no instruction manuals at all in this property - cooker, hob dishwasher , heating etc.

Also there were dead spiders and insects which looked like they had been there for a while and one of the lavatories flush system was very erratic. Otherwise it is a conveniently situated bungalow with good parking and the office helped me quickly to locate the heating thermostat. The conservatory and garden are very pleasant..

This property is a quiet and excellent location and a perfect base for exploring Criccieth and the wider area.

The garden is secure and beautiful and there is a very pleasant and comfortable conservatory to relax in. It would have been helpful to have a few more instructions as to how appliances, etc worked, and as per a couple of other reviews the lounge sofas were not the most comfortable. There were a couple of issues that couldn't have been foreseen which Menai cottages acted on very efficiently and promptly. We enjoyed our week and would return to Bro Mebyd

We found the bungalow very convenient, although the sofa need replacing as they were not very comfortable, the toilet next to the bedrooms doesnot flush properly, the windows needed cleaning but on the whole comfortable and good value for money.

We especially enjoyed the conservatory. The cottage was well equipped, and it was only a few minutes walk before reaching the sea. We appreciated the provisions (including some milk and welsh cakes) on our arrival. Our ~Sat Nav took us to the road, but we found the instructions about 2nd house after cross roads a bit confusing. It would have been helpful to use the house number - 26 in the instructions. A bit confused about what went into which bin, but all was collected on the appropriate day. But these are only minor details. It was a good base for our holiday, good to have parking and easy to walk into Criccieth from there.

Lovely property.

Will book again. Two points 1. They floor screws on the bathroom toilet are very loose. They need fixing asap to avoid possible flood. 2. The light in the rear toilet does not work. Many thanks for a lovely week

Whilst the property is in an ideal location which allowed us to have a super holiday.

.... the property itself is in need of a little love and attention to detail with the clients stay at the forefront of the mind.... 1. The sofas are extremely uncomfortable 2. There is no hoover to allow clients to keep things clean 3. The bedrooms are in need of modernisation as there is a reminder of who used to live at the property.... (felt a little uncomfortable) 4.Although there was some information about the property/location this could be vastly improved upon and presented in a more professional manner.

We had a great holiday at Bro Mebyd the cottage is in a great position and ideal for the beach, local walks and the many shops, bars, restaurants and cafes on the High Street.

After reading other reviews I was surprised that hardly anyone had mentioned the short cut to the High Street. Just 3 properties further down the street there is a pathway, if you keep to the left, that will lead you over the pedestrian level crossing and on up to the High Street, just an easy ten minute walk. This pathway also leads you, in the opposite direction, to the bowling green and mini golf. There is also a play area for children and a football field. The cottage, all be it very spacious only has 2 small sofa's which are not very comfortable to relax in and would benefit from an upgrade. The conservatory is much better for relaxing but there's no TV in there. The shower head in the main bathroom needs changing and the outlet for the second shower overflows. While we were there we discovered a wasp nest in the shed, where the outdoor seating is stored, a big thank you to Amanda at Menai Holiday Cottages for sorting this out the same day for us.

Loved the cottage and the garden did not want to leave only drawback not enough information on how things work and tell of short cut to shops whilst we were there a light bulb went in the bathroom and fused all the light .

Could not find fuse board as it was in the locked garage. Managed to get everything sorted and had a lovely stay.

Comfortable cottage.

Very quiet area. Easy access to beach and coastal path with the dog. Conservatory a great bonus. Good cooking facilities but curious lack of ovenware - no roasting pans. Also no food waste bin. Husband found supplied bath towel was too small, so he had to additionally use those provided in the unused bedroom - not good if there had been 4 guests.

Lovely property and fantastic position

It was a great stay for us.

Just what we needed. 5 mins to sea. We would stay again however we would bring baking trays and extra cutlery. It would have been useful to have access to a washing machine and a carpet sweeper.
