Riverwash Cottage

We absolutely loved our stay at Riverwash Cottage.

It was in a beautiful location and was cosy and peaceful. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the bed linen was lovely. The sitting room was cosy and having the wood burning fire was great. The kitchen was functional and had multiple sets of cutlery and crockery which was really useful for a party of 5. The dishwasher was useful too. A 4-slot toaster would have been more workable for that number but was a minor inconvenience. The downstairs bathroom was the one room that really let the property down. It was workable but felt like the bath was going to give way and something really needs to be done about water collecting on the windowsill. All that said we had a really fabulous stay and I'm only pointing those things out because others might be more offended by them than we were. Our daughter came down to stay with us for a night for Liverpool university and the connections from Llandudno worked perfectly. We had a really lovely long weekend, thank you.

Disappointed there was no information pack and no communication from the owner.

We had to figure out how the heating/boiler worked by googling it, guessed the Wifi password was on the router correctly at least. The side door lock sticks and desperately needs fixing, struggled to lock/unlock it several times. Bins in bathrooms would be appreciated along with hand soap. Scissors in the kitchen would be a welcome addition. Some lightbulbs missing, the light outside the front door is hanging by it's wire and doesn't work. The front gate needs repairing. Unsure where we were meant to park, as the side of the house had cones around a grate waiting for repair and it appears the house behind was using it for parking/access. A starter pack for the fire is mentioned in the booking information on Sykes, but there was nothing in the house. The radiator in the large, first floor bedroom needs a recoat of paint and the valve checking as it never got hotter than luke warm. The chimney needs looking at ASAP, heavy rainstorm on one night caused rain to drip into the fireplace in the bedroom and dripped onto our luggage as we had an open suitcase there due to lack of storage space in the bedrooms. Luckily, I was awake, heard the dripping and moved suitcase before too much got wet. Can provide pictures of the fireplace getting wet if required. Sadly all of this has put us off returning, as the location itself is amazing with plenty of walks and places to visit. A few tweaks would easily solve these issues and make the place an amazing stay. On a positive note, the beds were extremely comfortable.

Nice property set over 3 floors in a lovely location situated in a very quiet and peaceful village overlooking a stream.

Easy parking right next to the property. Close to popular tourist towns; 8 mins drive to Conwy, 15 mins Llandudno, 30 mins Betwys Y Coed. There is a small rear gravelled yard containing a picnic table and a couple of chairs. The property spotlessly clean and is equipped with everything you need. *Comments for the owner ONLY:* •Disappointed at zero communication. Even a text message before arrival to say 'enjoy your stay and here's my number should you need anything' •No welcome folder. It's usual to have information provided in the property containing instructions, recommendations for local places, wi-fi code, a warm welcome message contact details etc. Also info regarding parking, the driveway at the side appeared to also be access to property at the rear. Is the parking space at the front by the fence also belonging to Riverwash? We parked there to avoid blocking access to the rear but also were conscious of upsetting the neighbours due to restricted spaces. •The side door lock needs attention. We struggled to operate it and for fear of being locked out we had to use the front door. •Desperately needs curtains or blinds over the top floor bedroom french doors! The neighbours at the rear must get an eyeful! •The larger of the 2 first floor bedrooms needs a hanging rail for clothes. •Handsoap in the bathrooms would be nice. •A couple of light bulbs missing. •A doormat by the back door to prevent wet paws traipsing through the kitchen. •Maybe a pint of milk and a packet of biscuits/Welsh cakes as a minimum as a welcoming gesture. •There was nothing that we thought was 'a nice touch by the owner' which is what makes people return.
