Cwm is a 16th century Welsh long house that stands on a 1,200 acre farm on the outskirts of Capel Curig and surrounded by stunning scenery, including the majestic Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Horseshoe.
The property boasts many traditional features such as exposed beams, inglenook fireplaces in both lounges and a priest hiding hole.
The property benefits from two separate sitting rooms, both with woodburning stoves, as well as a TV with a handy DVD player, and a pool table.
The farmhouse kitchen is fitted with sleek appliances and an wooden dining table, whilst the private courtyard has an area for alfresco dining.
There is also an external games room where you can play table tennis.
Withdraw to one of the four well-appointed bedrooms, comprising of two king-size and two twins, together providing ample sleeping space for up to eight guests, served by a shower room with wall-to-floor tiling, and a sophisticated bathroom.
The popular village of Betws-y-Coed, 7 miles away, boasts many shops and restaurants as well as having many tourist attractions such as the Railway museum, miniature railway, Swallow Falls and Zip fforest coaster.
Take a stroll along the banks of Llynnau Mymbyr, one of the most photographed beauty spots in wales, just 2 miles from the property or head to Gwydir Forest for a cycle through the forest.
The PYG track is the main walking routes on Snowdon with the name 'Classic Route', 3.9 miles from the property, it isa perfect route for beginner and experienced walkers so the group can join in and is the shortest route to the top of Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon).
Plas y Brenin National Outdoor Centre, 2 miles away, offers day courses for all the family.
Visit the ancient rock quarry of Llechwedd or head underground with Zip World Slate Caverns or Velocity 2 zip wire and quarry karts in Penrhyn quarry.
Visit the Italian-style village of Portmeirion, best known as the backdrop for the 1967 Drama, The Prisoner, or spend a say admiring spectacular views on a journey with Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways.
Llanberis is a small village that sits at the foot of Snowdon just 9.5 miles from the property, sitting between lakes Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris.
It has many tourist attractions such as the National Slate museum, Electric mountain and the Snowdon Railway - which will take you to the top of the mountain where you capture some of the stunning view on the journey with a quick stop at Cei Llydan before continuing on up.
16.7 miles North along the coast sits the impressive fortress of Caernarfon Castle, a Cadw world heritage site as part of Edward I's other castles, with iconic turrets and gate that were designed to withstand an attack from the Welsh Princes, and even at 700 years later still captures the imagination of everyone.
Visit Pen y Gwryd Hotel, just 2 miles away, where Sir Edmund Hillary and his team stayed whilst training in the area in preparation of conquering Everest.

Amazing location, peaceful and a superb base for exploring Eryri.
The house was ideal for our family holiday (middle-aged parents plus adult children and partners) - plenty of space and multiple living areas. We enjoyed sitting outside in the unusually hot, dry and sunny weather, and the pool table got a great deal of use. Comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, very clean. Great walking close by (although no footpaths immediately by the cottage so options for walking straight “from the door” are limited). We would love to come back, and we have already recommended to friends.
We loved staying at Cwm.
It was a very comfortable cottage with great facilities, a well equipped kitchen and we made great use of the pool table. The cottage is very well situated for hiking in Snowdonia with the Glyders and Moel Siobad on the doorstep. Altogether a great holiday cottage and we look forward to staying there again in the future.
Overall a lovely stay with a few quirks.
Would definitely recommend for the price. It would benefit from a bit of TLC, and it's worth highlighting there is no downstairs toilet! Pros: Lovely place set in a very private plot with gorgeous mountain views, and lots of sheep and rabbits around. The home was huge with lots of little corners to explore and clearly the owner encouraged exploring which was helped it feel extra cosy. Once we found the thermostat the house was nice and warm. Especially compared to nearby alternatives, this was reasonably priced. The location was great with easy access to a few pubs, nearby activities and walks, but you definitely need a car to get around. Not many supermarkets nearby but if you plan shopping ahead there's plenty of storage in the house. The hot water was perfect and the WiFi was great, especially considering that phone signal is rare in the mountains. Cons: Overall the place was quite grubby (dirty and dusty and spiders in many corners) and in need of a deep clean. Many of the dishes and glasses were grubby so needed a wash before use (at least we had a dishwasher!). Many parts were not working (light bulbs, the fire place vents, pool table was torn and no chalk, the table tennis table was on a hill, the gas BBQ was completely broken, missing chess pieces). It was unmaintained despite the amount of provided facilities, and could be fully sorted for just a little bit of extra attention and checking after each stay. For example, we didn't have any matches for the fires, and when we asked we got an apology, but no solution. On check out, we were asked to clean up after ourselves quite thoroughly (incl. stripping beds) to help the cleaners, but having found the property quite unclean that was a bit confusing.
