Pabo Lodge

From the first moment we entered Tabo Lodge we were impressed.

The kitchen is very spacious and a mixture of old and modern. It is extremely well equipped and was a pleasure to work in. The lounge is very comfortable, especially the two reclining chairs and there are plenty of videos and books available. The back garden was perfect for the dogs and had the weather been much warmer we could have enjoyed using the sun loungers. We have never stayed in accommodation that has been so well provisioned and I can’t think of anything we might have needed that was not available. The welcome gift of Welsh cakes and fruit loaf were very much appreciated as were the dog treats. We would be very happy to visit here again in the future.

We go to Pabo at least once a year and have done for the last 6 years.

It’s in a perfect location, private, peaceful but close enough to local towns and attraction's. Beautiful cosy cottage, comfortable beds and a lovely big enclosed garden for our dogs. Perfect!!!

The cottage was brilliant and clean and tidy it was nice and warm and fresh and had everything you ever wanted and needed a lovely garden i would recommend it to everyone who wants lovely holiday xx

On Arrival at the cottage, it’s on a beautiful setting with a nice garden.

Sadly as we entered I will say it smells a little musty. The cleaner had finished less than an hour before we arrived so I would have expected it to smell a bit fresher. I wouldn’t say it was overpowering, shocking or disgusting by any means, it’s just noticeable that the smell is there. The kitchen was tidy with cakes and treats (the latter for the dogs) in a prominent position. Towels and blankets for the dogs along with a bowl, there was also milk in the fridge for us. Just really nice welcoming touches that make you smile and let you know that the host has thought about putting a smile on the guests face straight away. The abundance of leaflets of things to do locally and a welcome back are really nice and helpful too. There was tea, coffee, sugar and loads of tea towels mean you’re not unpacking your stuff straight away. There were plenty of bin bags, washing up stuff and hand soap just settle you as you don’t have to panic and get them straight off. Each room is tidy and clean and it just has a lovely cosy cottage feel about it. However, the cobwebs, they are present in every room. Maybe the cleaner forgot, maybe she doesn’t have a duster but there were cobwebs and spiders in each room, I just got the hoover out and took care of them…but I don’t think I should have to. Each wardrobe also has the same musty smell that is present throughout but sadly it's far stronger in the cupboards and wardrobes. So much so that we didn't put our clothes in the wardrobes as we didn't want them to smell. A wardrobe air freshener would likely help this as well as a dehumidifier bag/pot. Again this was disappointing. Having a shower surrounded by 6-8 spiders was not what my wife needed that evening. It's worth noting that I hoover on the second day of our stay and I noticed 1 spider in the bathroom on the day we left so it's not like they came back after the cleaner had been. In the main bedroom there was a dead wasp and a dead fly on the windowsill, I just think the property owners have been let down by their cleaner Pabo Lodge is decorated nicely throughout and each room has a modern touch that doesn’t take away from the feeling of a lodge/cottage. I would happily stay here again, if the smell wasn't there. it’s a lovely homely cosy place that’s surrounded by peace and quiet and some nice walks to take dogs on.

This cottage was the best accomodation we have ever had, we couldn't fault anything.

Our stay at Pabo lodge was fantastic.

It was so peaceful surrounded by beautiful countryside yet a very short drive into Conwy and Llandudno. It was home from home comforts everything clean and welcoming. A huge enclosed garden for our little dog to explore was a success too. This was our second holiday with Sykes holiday and will certainly be booking with them again next year. Very informative from start to finish and we will certainly recommend.

Comfortable even in the heatwave!

May I say we had an incredible holiday, only due to the fact that I was prepared to put the effort in & travel to different locations every day, the area is breathtakingly stunning….

. absolute quality made some great memories. As for the property it was nipping clean, the bed sheets were so so fresh …… it had everything & more you would need for a perfect pieceful tranquil break…!!!! Stunning location with an enclosed garden to keep your pet in if you should have one. As for the property manager “ luci her commitment to this property is both “ impeccable, exemplary, nothing is to much trouble she is right on the case & in the background should you need her…!!my dear wife had inadvertently left a belonging behind, luci very quickly jumped into action & got it returned. Unbelievable service “ hats off to her & her husband great teamwork…!!! My only advice would be to keep on top of external repairs, as these can be costly if not addressed quickly, & may put people off….. However as for me, personally had one hell of a holiday…. Will definitely be back in the not to distant future…. Stunning great location…. Wishing you all continued success…..well done to all concerned….

A wonderful holiday stay.

Clean, comfortable with everything you need. Surrounded by hills and fields. Only 11 minutes by car, to the town. If you want a really relaxing holiday Pabo Lodge is the place to stay. Luci is close at hand if needed.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Pabo Lodge, which is probably the best equipped holiday cottage we've ever stayed in.

The cottage is warm, homely and comfortable, with a great enclosed garden if you have dogs. The welcome pack (for humans and dogs alike) was a lovely touch as was the welcoming text from owner Luci. Pabo Lodge is ideally situated for exploring the area, whether by car or on foot, with some great beaches within easy reach. The cottage's comprehensive 'handbook' was also very helpful for visitors. Just one thing to note - if you're tall like me, remember to duck through the internal doorways. Ouch! Seriously though, top marks all round and we've already booked another stay. P.S. I'm a man who likes a big cup of coffee to start the day so I bought a big mug during our stay and left it in the cupboard for the next 'big mug' fan. Hope that's OK Luci.

The lodge is in a wonderful peaceful location but easy to get to shops and other services.

Lovely beaches close by. Accommodation was reflective of website description but the double bed was too firm fory partner. Kitchen well equipped and welcome pa k much appreciated.

We've just returned from a very relaxing week at the Pabo Lodge.

We arrived to a lovely treat of Welsh and and chocolate chip cookies. There was also milk in the fridge. It was a little chilly at first but soon warmed up with the central heating and a couple of mobile heaters. We had the shopping delivered to the cottage which saved us time and effort. The kitchen was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. There is an electric shower and a bath but we didn't use that. The cottage is perfect for Conwy and Llandudno. Weather was stormy at times but we lit the log fire and chilled in the living room with a beautiful Christmas tree.(And a brandy and coke). Met the host when had a problem with the kitchen tap but was resolved without fuss. Would I go again... Quite possibly but would consider Springtime next time.

A lovely cottage in a rural setting, close to so many of the places we wanted to visit.

Much thought has gone in to making this a cosy and comfortable place to stay. Our dogs loved it as well.

The kitchen/dining area was clean and well equipped with all the tools/pans that's needed to produce your own meals. The bathroom has a nice shower and a large bath. Two bedrooms are fully equipped with wardrobes and drawers. The cozy lounge has plenty of comfortable seating, TV and an attractive wood burner. Some of the days were very warm but the thick walls of the lodge kept the internal temperature cooler and a pleasant place to be. It's possible to go for nice walks from the cottage with spectacular views and wooded areas.

The cottage was lovely and so very dog friendly.

Everything you needed was there. All the pans were good quality, which in some cottages is not standard. The location was wonderful for exploring the area and handy for my relatives getting together. We all had a wonderful time and will definately go again. Sue

This is a listed lodge in a rural quiet area but close enough to explore everything by car.

There is everything you would need there and a great private garden. Not sure you would say the nearest pub is within 1 mile tho. We loved it and would recommend

A very comfortable, well-equipped cottage.

One of the best we've found. A rural setting, but only 5 minutes from A55 so easy to get around North Wales. Friendly owner Mark has taken a lot of trouble to provide useful info on local walks and visits. We really enjoyed our week, as did our Border Collie. Would be happy to come back one day.

exellently refurbished cottage of some historic importance,ex gateway lodge to baronial estate off short single track driveway dotted along with a few farmsteads and overlooking hills and valley towawds penryn and ross.

quiet but within a mile or two of these locations and llandudno/junction etc.country walks, rights of way, bridle paths etc all surrounding. beach between ross and colwyn bay lovely and flat sand all year round and dog freindly in parts. pubs and park in ross. queens head pub in penryn supperb for meals, ales and comfort and friendliness, also dog friendly. us and the dogs very happy

Loved this cottage a hidden gem so peaceful beautiful surroundings and close to all local amenities our dogs loved the garden and Mark the owner left us a lovely welcome pack tea coffee milk biscuits and a surprise bottle of prosecco for my birthday can't wait to return again soon .

Lovely comfortable accommodation in a good location only a few minutes drive from Llandudno.

It had everything we needed. Bed's were comfortable and a nice garden for the children to play.

The TV could do with an upgrade or new aerial as most of the time there was no signal. There was also a damp smell in the cottage. Although the kitchen was well equipped the cottage would benefit from a larger frying pan. The owner was very helpful and we will certainly come back to Pabo Lodge. The garden was lovely and private to. Alfie our cockapoo loved

What a hidden gem, Perfect if you have a reactive dog the photos do not do it justice.

Garden was beautiful and big enough to throw a ball with wire mesh netting so even my Houdini couldn’t escape. Dog gate on the kitchen was a great touch so quiet something that I usually struggle with as I live very rurally Great phone reception so I ran my laptop from it with 5g no issue. Host Mark was great couldn’t of been more helpful lovely welcome basket and a great comfy bed We will be back soon

Lovely quiet, comfortable and warm cottage.

Fantastic water pressure and abundant hot water. Super to have reclining chairs to relax in. Very windy for the time we were there, which resulted in all doors banging & clattering, so needed wedging each night with cardboard or material in the frame to sleep. Wind again caused awful buffering on the tv. FTTP would stop this and also could provide useful WiFi. There are times when one does need to keep in contact with family (illness) estate agents/solicitors/work members etc.

We have stayed many times over the years so we obviously enjoy the property.

It feels very private but is central to all the North Wales coast offers. Set in a beautiful country lane, it's ideal for dog walking, and comes with a secure garden. The lodge is warm and cosy and ideal for a winter break. Hopefully back next year.

It would be good to have some different sizes of casserole dish for cooking in the oven and microwave with lids on for any one wishing to do some cooking.

We had lovely holiday in Pabo lodge it's in a great location and if you have a dog it's ideal the garden is very secure.

It's is also very quiet not much traffic and the views are stunning.The only criticism is there was no WiFi which I missed.But all in all I would recommend it to my friends and family.

All I would suggest is more roasting tins apart from that had a great time

Great little secluded cottage .

Only a 10 minute drive to Llandudno or Conwy. Garden enclosed and ideal for dogs. Passer-bys only include an odd car , dog walkers and horse riders .Clean comfortable interior with a modern newly fitted kitchen . This is an old grade 2 listed cottage so expect to see that in its layout .Wonderful place to stay if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life . Highly recommend this getaway of tranquility.

Convenient for the main road, supermarket, and all the sights, but still felt really like the countryside.

Pabo cottage is in a quiet location but still close to a55 road for easy access to Conwy, llandudno etc, would be happy to stay again or recommend to any one wishing to explore north Wales, plus you can enjoy the sparrow family

A beautiful cosy place cottage .

Had a weekend break in December so expected the weather to be cold but the cottage was lovely and cosy. The welcome pack was a nice touch. Well placed for lots of walks and easy access to towns although still had the feeling of being secluded . The cottage has a lot of charm and all the facilities you could wish for . The only drawback is parking as limited parking and access if a large vehicle but we got round this - would definitely recommend

Great location in a beautiful listed lodge.

My wife fell in love with it. Access to other parts of N Wales is good, access to the coastal towns, mountains within half hour.

This cottage is ideal for anyone taking their dog on holiday.

The garden is secure and the rooms are easily isolated form the dogs with a gate from the kitchen.

You do need a car but there is plenty of country walks. Cottage is comfortable good size kitchen cozy lounge. Owner very pleasant and helpful. Will be visiting again.

Quiet and secluded but still within easy travelling distance of Llandudno and Conwy. Cottage really quaint garden just fantastic, enclosed for the dogs and would be lovely in the summer for sitting outside. Really had everything we needed, was a home from home.

Lots of character , nice and warm from central heating despite Storm Dennis raging outside!

Pabo Lodge was situated at the end of a narrow road, and when I arrived, I thought it would be difficult to reverse into the road from the cottage's car space each time you left the cottage.

However it was quite easy, but would not recommend parking on the road as occasional large vehicles use the road. The cottage was accurately described - very private and very quiet which is appreciated when you want peace and quiet after a long day out visiting places etc. There was plenty of hot water and the bath and shower worked brilliantly where a lot of other places I have visited lack in this area. The kitchen was spacious and had everything you needed. The beds were very comfortable and the bed linen was clean and fresh. There are extra electric heaters if you need them, and plenty of hanging space for clothes including drawers. The owner, Mark Duncalf was very pleasant to speak with on the telephone and told me not to hesitate to contact him at anytime during my stay. I will definitely come back to stay at Pabo Lodge next year as everything was comfortable and easy to get around. Mark's information folder was very useful and correct. For example, the Queens Head Pub was amazing, not only the food but the service, and decor including.

Great location

We had a major problem with flying ants in the living room for the whole 7days which meant we couldn't use this room until mid evening when they returned to their nest.

The Lodge is starting to look tired on the outside.

For instance the front garden is a wilderness and the porch door is missing. Apart from that the cottage is really cosy, comfortable and warm. The kitchen is well stocked with those small bits of equipment that you may need.

When we turned off the rather inauspicious roundabout at Llandudno Junction onto Pabo Lane and passed a "Jewson's Warehouse" we were not expecting that the road would take us on into some glorious countryside with lovely views (the view of floodlit Conwy Castle from above the Lodge was especially memorable).

We really liked that the Lodge's garden was enclosed and offered security to our Border Terrier, Millie. Also, whilst the Lodge felt remote, it was very handy for some excellent local Pubs, Tea Rooms and Fish & Chip Shops. Given the time of year, we were able to visit some amazing gardens when they were at their best (Bodnant, Plas Cadnant, Plas Brondanw, Plas Tan-Y-Bwelch to name but a few). Whilst there were quite a lot of tourists about we found that visiting attractions first thing or later in the afternoon really payed off. We also actually found an amazing beach on Anglesey that stretched for miles and yet was completely deserted even though the weather was hot and sunny - bliss. A really great holiday all round. This cottage is in a lively central position for North Wales and it’s so warm, cosy and comfortable we didn’t want to come home yet again.

We have been before to Pabo Lodge, at this time of year with our two dogs.

The cottage is well situated being close to Conway and Llandudno, even going in the middle of winter the cottage is really warm and cosy, sat by a log fire in the evening is very pleasant indeed!! The garden is ideal for the dogs to be in, we hope to return in the future.

HAd everything we needed and enclosed garden for our dog.

We did not think the garden was secure enough has when letting our 13 month old jack Russell off lead he escaped through the hedge into the Joining field.

We had no trouble getting him back but he spent the week on the lead in the garden which is not much fun for the dog the smell of sheep and horses made him want to explore being a young dog. Apart from the garden the cottage was lovely and cosy with great views and great walks. Would defiantly stay again.

Relaxing and comfortable with beautiful views.

This was by far and away the most peaceful and relaxing holiday we have ever had, and was just what we needed to unwind from the stresses of daily working life!

The cottage is lovely, very well presented, and perfectly situated for walks with our dog away from busy roads. It was very nice of the owners to have left tasty treats and flowers for our arrival too. Pabo Lodge had a very homely feel to it, and we felt comfortable and not 'on pins' as can sometimes be the case when staying in more modern properties with a minimalist style of decor and lots of hard, shiny surfaces which tend to show up the slightest fingerprint, and carpets which are difficult to get muddy paw prints out of.... Pabo very sensibly has easy clean floors throughout, except for the carpet in the bedrooms as one might expect from a comfort point of view. However, while having this character feel to it, the property is still very well maintained and clean - we have absolutely no complaints on either score. One never knows just how much to take to rental cottages in terms of household consumables (i.e. light cleaning materials, towels, bedding, condiments, washing up liquid, etc.), and we consequently took pretty much everything with us that we could think of, but we needn't have bothered because the owners had anticipated our needs and provided everything. The absence of wifi might be of concern to some, but we didn't mind as the whole point of the holiday was to get away from our 'normal' lives. All in all, this was the perfect, traditional little hideaway, secure outside for the dog to run about and generally for us to indulge in a little escapism and dream that it was ours! If planning another holiday in the area in future summers, we will certainly check with Sykes to see if Pabo Lodge is available. Just as a point of note regarding booking, the rider that dogs should not be allowed on the beds or settees was not available to see until the booking had actually been made, and it might be helpful for dog owners to be made aware of this in the general listing. We never go anywhere without bags of throws and additional blankets, as although our little furry friend is happy to sleep next to beds, it is well beyond the scope of our efforts to make him understand that he has to break the habit of a lifetime and not sit on the sofa, but others might not have the space in their vehicles to do likewise.

Secluded yet accessible.

The Cottage was perfectly situated and had lovely rural views, was close to Llandudno and all amenities, perfect.

We were very kindly left milk, tea sugar, lovely swiss roll, chocolate mint thins and a vase of beautiful yellow roses, very welcoming. Cottage could just maybe do with a 'lick of paint' to freshen up.

The fully enclosed garden was ideal for our dog.

Care was needed on the single track approach with the local traffic. WiFi would be appreciated. The lodge had everything we needed.

i went here with my neice for the last 3 yrs it was taken over last year and was so lovely you do need a car to get around but its a lovely place for a quiet holiday and the dogs loved it lovely food parcel left not far from the beach

It was the nicest cleanist cottage ive atayed in and within easy drive of all areas of wales i highlly recomend it snd will be returning again

Pabo cottage is a home from home.

It has all you could need and more with breathtaking views all around it.The photos on the website do not do it justice as it has been updated since they were taken.

The only shortcoming with the cottage was the lack of a dish-washer.

This was, however, not crucial because of the ample pupply of hot water for old-fashioned washing-up. We particularly enjoyed the peacefulness of the location, but still within easy reach of facilities like supermarkets. Our two dogs loved the garden!!

This was a very warm, comfortable cottage ideally situated for all our holiday requirements and a safe location for our 2 little dogs as well

The cottage is in a lovely position with fabulous views.

The approach lane is narrow but perfectly accessible. The garden is a delight and totally closed in so our doggy friends are absolutely safe. There is an abundance of birds in the garden with what appears to be resident sparrows and blackbirds who are quite happy to "do their thing" and eat your leftover bread, with you sitting really close by! Inside the cottage is very homely, warm, cosy comfortable. It has everything you could want/need and again really good for dogs.

The cottage was in a really good location, and private with it being detached, also very well equipped, we would definitely consider booking again, we had a lovely holiday.
