The Moorings

The Moorings was perfect for our family of 4.

The balcony overlooking the harbour was fantastic and so relaxing. We spent hours bird watching and the kids crabbing. The beds were comfy and all facilities excellent. We will be back.

On arrival we were initially impressed as we had our own specific parking space right outside the property.

When we went into the flat for the first time we were blown away by how clean and fresh it both looked and especially smelt. A little welcome pack of basic cleaning products and more importantly a pack of ‘Welsh cakes’ was fab. The balcony was excellent, I spent hours sat there with a glass of wine watching the tide coming in and out whilst the sun went down. The living room was really comfy and plenty of room for 4. I think one of the most important things when staying in a property in our view is the bathroom/shower. The bathroom at The Moorings was beautifully clean and the shower was both huge and gave a constant supply of hot water. Bedrooms, 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs were both clean with comfy beds and fresh linen. Plenty of storage space on hand. The Moorings gave us a brilliant base to explore Porthmadog and the surrounding North Wales area. Thanks to everyone for giving us an amazing place to stay.

Lovely clean, well equipped apartment.

The views over the harbour were amazing. Lots to do around Porthmadog and we were lucky to have lovely weather. The ground floor beds could do with a mattress topper (very firm) and a set of drawers for more storage would have been useful and we couldn't access any channels on the TV. However, we enjoyed our stay and would return to this property.

A well equipped property, clean on arrival, great sea view.

The accommodation was spotlessly clean and comfortable.

It had everything you could possibly need provided. The views from the balcony were stunning, and the area is very quiet and peaceful. We hope to return in the future.

Absolutely loved this accommodation, it’s in the perfect location the views are incredible and we found the apartment comfortable and clean.

The only negative was on a rainy day we were waiting for the weather to change and the choice of tv was so limited. I accept that you don’t go on holiday to watch tv but sometimes the rain doesn’t let up.

Lovely tasteful apartment.

Spotlessly clean and recently decorated. Well equipped. Beautiful view. Great location. A nice shower in the morning, and after being on the beach is an important aspect of a good holiday for anyone. It isn’t a luxury, it’s expected. Our experience was marred by the fact that the electric shower is clearly faulty and inadequate. And reading previous reviews, the owners know it. You get either scalding water & ok pressure, or tepid water & a trickle. It is not unreasonable to expect enough pressure to be able to wash your conditioner out of your hair in safety. When we contacted the given contact name in the manual no reply was received. We suspect every renter contacts her. Get your act together owners, you need to replace that shower. The TV is not set up and you need a password to be able to do it. The owner needs to do it with their password. We would return to this lovely apartment in the future but only if we knew that the shower had been replaced.

We absolutely loved our stay here!

The facilities were excellent and everything was spotless, making it feel incredibly comfortable and welcoming throughout our week away. The decor is lovely, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The location is fantastic too - set in a relatively quiet area overlooking the harbour, it’s perfect for unwinding. It’s also just a short walk into Porthmadog and only a short drive to nearby beaches and surrounding towns, which made exploring really easy. If we had to suggest anything, it would just be a couple of small additions - perhaps some drawers in the downstairs bedroom for extra storage, and a slight improvement to the WiFi, as it was a little inconsistent for streaming in the evenings during our stay. Overall, a wonderful place to stay - we would happily return again soon and highly recommend it!

A nice property with a great view.

Everything required was there. There was just the two of us, but would imagine it to be a little cramped for four adults. Very handy for cafes, shops and restaurants, and some good walks from the property. A number of places to visit not too far away and lovely scenery around the whole area.

Location is beautiful and the property is very well equipped - the only issue we had is the parking - there just isn’t enough space in the allocated parking places for all the properties despite the numbering system we quite often had to park in the overflow

Lovely views of the marina, convenient to all amenities, The only criticism we would say is the duvet and pillows could do with being updated.

We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

The apartment was beautiful, in a lovely location with fantastic views from the balcony and patio doors. It’s in a great spot for all local amenities and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Something to note, there are a few steps up to the property outside, but this wasn’t a problem for us. Would highly recommend staying here.

Perfect property in a perfect location.

It had the wow factor as soon as we walked in the door. The view was amazing and the property was clean and had everything we needed. It was in a quiet location, very peaceful and the balcony was a sun trap. There was so much to do in the area, including hiking, sight seeing and taking the heritage trains to numerous stations. This apartment is one of the best we have stayed in, and we would highly recommend it. We are going to book it again for a longer stay as 4 nights was not long enough! .

The apartment was in a great location by the harbour, we loved to sit on the balcony overlooking the water.

It was clean and well equipped. Porthmadog is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area of North Wales. We would highly recommend.

The views from the balcony are great, the property itself is well looked after and is situated close to lots of scenic and historic areas. Had a lovely stay and would happily book again.

Great position and nice property.

Everything was there that was needed. The only thing that seemed to be missing was a teapot. Had a great time.

Everything was good but I couldn't find a way to view the TV without using streaming services.

For a couple staying four nights, the property is very tastefully presented, comfortable, and generously equiped.

The location is wonderful with a terrific outlook.

The accommodation was modern and spotlessly clean.

We did need to purchase a waste bin for the kitchen as the one provided was a small bathroom bin. Everything else was spot on and I would recommend this holiday apartment.

This is our second stay here for a fortnight because the location is absolutely fabulous.

Again this year we had the Heron Egrets Oyster Catcher and for a special treat a Seal showed us how to catch fish. All viewed from the comfort of the balcony. One little point would like to mention that the glasses and crockery do need replacing.

Our holiday left a sour taste in our mouth, we initially booked in July 2023 for July 2024, due to reasons beyond our control in August 2023 we found out we couldn't make the date booked, we requested a change of date to September 2024, which resulted in us being ripped off for over £200, as we still had to pay July price, we think this is total avarice.

Loved this holiday apartment

Spotlessly clean, warm, comfortable and well equipped.

Couldn’t find a breadboard and that is the only slight criticism. Really enjoyed the stay and would certainly recommend.

The property is in an excellent setting.

The pictures on the site are in no way misleading, and may not fully do justice to the setting. We had an excellent time using the property as a base for some wonderful walks along the nearby coastal paths out to Borth y Gest, Morfa Bychan and Criccieth. We ventured into the Hills around Croesor and enjoyed the Autumn colours and the breathtaking scenery. The town is very near and yet there was no disturbing noise other than Owls hunting in the early hours and the seabirds. I really cannot recommend this place highly enough. Its our second stay and we will return. Thank you for sharing.

The Moorings definitely lived up to its billing on the website.

The property is clean and well maintained with comfortable furnishings, and the balcony view did not disappoint. We did not plan to self cater, but the presence of a good quality hob, oven, microwave oven, and dishwasher meant that this would not be a problem. One reviewer mentioned that the stairs up to the front door might prove too steep for some. I have to disagree. They are no steeper than those in the average house, and my wife, who has mobility issues managed them with no difficulty. We would unreservedly recommend this property to anybody wishing to visit this area.

Absolutely fabulous.

We have stayed in many of Sykes accommodations and they have all been excellent but this one is exceptional. The quality of the appliances left nothing to be desired and the decor was clean and fresh Add to that the view of the estuary and the ever changing scenery with entertaining wild life, it was brilliant. We stayed here for a fortnight and we were just so comfortable we didn’t want to leave.

Had a wonderful holiday, the apartment was clean and very well equipped and in a prime position.

The views were amazing and sitting on the balcony watching the boats coming into harbour and the abundant bird life was the highlight of our holiday, if you're a bird watcher you're in for a treat !!! The apartment is reached by a wooden staircase to a concrete landing and the front door, the car space is directly below, if you're ok with stairs at home then I wouldn't think you'd have a problem. You then enter into a small hallway with the second bedroom to your left, open plan living area and kitchen to the right. The kitchen was very well equipped with an abundance of glasses and plates etc. and I found the oven and hob very easy to use. I would say that the fridge is on the small side with just a small freezer compartment, but we found it to be perfectly adequate for our needs. Living area was comfy and if the weather was not good enough to eat on the balcony you could sit at the dining table and still have a lovely view. You go upstairs to the main bedroom which again has lovely views to the harbour entrance, the bathroom is also upstairs, the shower was very good and there was always abundant hot water. Porthmadog is a great place to stay and this apartment is on the doorstep of everything we hardly used our car. Would definitely recommend and book again, remember to bring your binoculars !!

Lovely apartment with a beautiful view from the lounge and main bedroom looking out to sea down the estuary, also when sitting on the balcony.

The rooms were extremely clean and well equipped and the kitchen and decor looked very new. The location was on the quay where the Ffestiniog Railway station is situated and no more than a couple of minutes walk from the nearest shops. Having a private parking space outside was appreciated.

Clean and welcoming. Great view of estery and marina. Good location for easy routes through Snowdonia National Park. Would not suit many with restricted mobility due to steep stairs leading to front door.

Good Morning - I'm sorry but the cleanliness and maintenance of the apartment (The Moorings, Porthmadog) was not the usual standard I have come to expect with Syke Cottages.

The bathroom light wasn't working luckily the mirror had a light. There was a bad smell when you came into the apartment spelt like damp but when we investigated in the spare room there was a wet mop and bucket in the wardrobe which was causing the smell. The Sun Parasol was broken there was a make shift bolt attached with a plaster to the pole. I went to prepare a meal and got pans from the drawer and they were dirty still had food in them. I have photographs of the complaints that I have mentioned above if you require them. It was a real shame as the property is situated in a lovely location on the harbour, but I'm afraid we will not be going back to the property.

The apartment was lovely with a fantastic view and perfect location.

It was really well equipped and it was clear a lot of thought had gone into making it a holiday home. The biscuits and welsh cakes on arrival were a really nice touch. We would definitely recommend to friends and family and stay again ourselves. Thank you.
