2 Black Horse Cottages

Had a great week here.

Hugh popped in to see all was ok. Would happily return.

We had a great week, the location is peaceful & superb having the facility of a field adjacent for the dogs to run free.

The cottage was well equipped with lots of storage for your holiday essentials to be packed out of sight but just a few minor things missing in the kitchen, an oven glove and dishwashing brush/scrubber would have been useful. The plastic spatula was disintegrating and needs replacing.Overall great value for money.

Bungalow was lovely, but outside decking very old and wobbly.

Trampoline had big nettles growing around and up through springs, could do with strumming, kids couldn’t play on it. Appreciate owner had injured foot, so couldn’t maintain himself at the time of our visit.

The cottage had what we needed for our break.

The sisters who greeted us were lovely and very friendly. We found the toilets took a while to fill and a fan would have been a bonus in the heatwave we had. It was very private and quiet most of the time. There was a lot of crow scaring bangs during our stay which upset our dog, but not the owners fault. Also in the pictures for the 3 cottages there were privacy fencing between the decking areas, but were not there for our arrival. Our dog was fine as she is laid back with other dogs but not all dogs would be happy. Plus more hooks for hanging leads, coats etc by the front door would be a bonus. But over all it was a lovely stay and very accessible to lots of local sites

We enjoyed our peaceful countryside stay at 2 Black Horse Cottages.

The cottage was comfortable with lovely fresh scented bedding and towels. It is ideally situated for exploring Anglesey and close to the town of Menai Bridge for amenities.

Knew what to expect, great location for peace and quiet, the beach and Beaumaris. Hugh the owner is on site-if you need him . Absolutely spotless. A happy place

We really enjoyed out time here lovely and clean and so relaxing in the countryside and Hugh the owner was mist helpful if needed .

We hope to come back again soon as we definitely recommend it .

Lovely cosy cottage.

Situated in a great place to explore Anglesey and beyond. It is so peaceful. Cottage was lovely and warm with all the facilities you need for your stay. We stayed in No. 3 last year and this cottage is identical. Will definitely be going back.

Super quiet location and a great surrounding area. Staff were amazing and helpful. Definitely planning on visiting again. A true gem of a place.

A lovely cottage, clean, comfortable and warm.

Ideal for our puppy, with an adjacent field for her to run in. There are endless possibilities for activities on Anglesey and in Snowdonia, which is a short drive away. We will definitely return. Thankyou for a most enjoyable stay.

The cottage no.

2 is very well presented. The rooms are very spacious for a small family. The paintings by Huw in the seating room beautiful. Parking is also very convenient. The cupboards in bedrooms and kitchen cutlery provided was greatly appreciated. Thank you for leaving the milk in the refrigerator. The mattress on the double bed was bit uncomfortable. One of the chairs with dining table is bit wonky. The toilets and bathrooms were clean and well maintained.

Been before to this location a great base to explore anglesey nice and quiet a lovely setting just to chill out

Superb location. Wonderfully quiet. Easy to explore the island or the main land. Everything was thought about in the cottage itself. It was a real home from home experience. Would definitely book again when next visiting Anglesey

We spent 7 years in the farmhouse cottage on this site with my parents before they passed away and since then we have been in number 3 blackhorse cottage 3 times and number 2 cottage twice, we have booked number 3 again for June 2026 and its our home from home, we love it and have always felt welcome.

Thank you Mr Parry for a loverly place to stay.

Lovely cottage, 2nd time in this cottage Clean, comfortable, lovely views.

Amenities nearby, plenty to see and do.

The property was fine, as described.

However a few things can be improved. There was no soap in the cottage to use in two bathrooms and kitchen, and as the nearest shop was miles away, we had to manage for the day of arrival. The towels in the bathroom were a little small! There was no Visitors Book in the property to give advice on things to do or recommendations on eating places etc. - always a help for new visitors. Overall, it was a comfortable property in lovely rural surroundings.

This property inside was nothing like the pictures There was no BBQ has stated There is no way you would class this cottage has 4 star The kitchen needed a deep clean cooker hood really grime and greased had to clean down the side of the fridge

I really enjoyed my stay at this lovely cottage.

The garden and surrounding views were stunning, and as an amateur wildlife photographer, I loved watching the variety of birds in the garden. The living space was comfortable and cosy, and the location was ideal for exploring both Anglesey and the North Wales mainland. The owners were very friendly and helpful—even bringing out the garden furniture so I could enjoy the sunshine. While I would have appreciated recycling facilities as someone who is environmentally mindful, I understand this is something they’re working on. Highly recommended—I’d love to return!

It is a lovely, quiet place to stay.

We stayed for 5 nights. The place is in a very good location and has a warm and homely feel, parking right outside. The facilities are good and all you could ask for. The rooms were lovely and clean and smelt really nice . We had a dog with us and there were nice areas to walk her. This is a perfect location to explore Anglesey and North wales. The owners were friendly and were brilliant with us after crashing our car into their light feature in the carpark. We are so sorry for the damage caused. We highly recommend this place, and we will be returning and recommending this little gem to others. Thanks for the milk tea and sugar provided. We loved our stay

The mattresses and settees were too soft as we both have bad backs.

Mr and Mrs Parry are both pleasant and always willing to help in anyway.

First time going away to a cottage with my two parents celebrating their birthdays for New Year Day.

The cottage was set in a great location close to all amenities by car. The cottage was well equipped with heating, hot water, every channel on the television. The beds were very comfortable and it was so quiet and peaceful for a true rest. The only downfall was the road upto the cottage which had lots of pot holes so not great on the car even when driving slowly also for walking the dog because of the huge puddles that settled in them. It would benefit having gates at the back of the cottage to access the park area and play park to save walking round by number 3 and not disturbing them. Apart from slight changes that could be made I will definitely be returning.

The property is beautiful.

My only problem was that I’m in a wheelchair. There were two steps into the property luckily I do have a ramp. The bathrooms were difficult to access. I think Sykes should mention that this property is not suitable for wheelchair uses.

Had a lovely weekend stay in this comfy cottage, although the weather was not the best we still enjoyed our stay.

Lovely quiet setting yet within easy reach of the main road.

The cottage was perfect for us, both human and dog. Great parking for multiple cars, all necessary facilities & super open space for the dog to be exercised. The secure decking area was very useful for sitting out knowing the dog couldn't escape. It was nice having patio furniture and a parasol (we were lucky enough to have a very hot day so the shade was welcome). The owner was very nice and welcomed us on arrival and was round and about should we have needed him. It was a nice touch having a bottle of milk in the fridge when we arrived. No complaints at all, and would definitely recommend this cottage to others. The only thing I can think of to suggest in order to improve the stay for dog owners, would be that the dog play field is mown so that it is easier to spot dog poo and clean it up, and it would be nicer to walk in after heavy rain. This is not a complaint in any way, only if you are looking for improvements.

We were both happy with our stay there which was very comfortable and clean with all the appliances we needed for our stay .

The location was also handy to move around to various places of interest to us .

This is the fourth time we have stayed in Black horse cottages and would reccomend them to anybody.

You could not hope to meet a nicer couple than Hugh and Carys who go out of their way to ensure you have a memorable holiday

Great location, very friendly owners and a versatile cottage.

Very comfortable, loved the outdoor area and great spaces for walking the dogs in the morning/ evening. Would highly recommend. Remember to take oven gloves, soap, kitchen roll and extra toilet rolls..... although a great little Spa attached to the garage in Pentraeth.

We absolutely loved every minute of our stay in the cottage.

Such a beautiful setting, so peaceful yet so many things within easy travelling distance to make for a truly memorable stay. The cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything you needed. Wish we were still there.

This is a very peaceful location and just what we needed We would love to come back, when it is warm enough to sit on the decking.

A lovely warm and cosy cottage, very well equipped with everything that we needed for a wonderful relaxing holiday.

Perfect for us with the two en suite bedrooms and for all the space around for the dog. I think this was our ninth visit and as always we had a wonderful stay! Mr and Mrs Parry are so welcoming and helpful and always there if we need anything.

Draughty front door making living room really cold, not what you expect on your holiday, owner said he didnt know about it but people have mentioned it before so he was telling porkys and not doing anything to fix the problem.

No cleaning products, one toilet roll, no kitchen roll. very sparse kitchen with very blunt knives...it felt like stepping into an old canteen, everything is very very old and dated inc furniture and beds. Driveway up to cottage is horrendous... One washing line between 3 cottages. we would not return and feel robbed..sitting in a cold room on first night was an ordeal. Owner has no intention of fixing the door. they will take the money though. Sykes should sort this as its not right, i will be calling about it.

Really lovely cottage, very nice quiet location and well laid out/setup.

Suited us perfectly as a family of 4 (2A,2C) and two furry companions. The weather was typical February weather but didn’t dampen our spirits and we will definately look to use the black horse cottages again when we return to visit family! Met one of the owners (Huw) who was very friendly and very helpful letting us know all we needed to. Really pleasant, enjoyable short break

A lovely stay in this cottage.

.it was spacious and cosy at the same time. The views from the verandah were lovely. Owner Huw very helpful and good friendly pub and Chinese takeaway only 5 min drive up the road. Also very close to Bennlech bay and Red Wharf Bay and Moelfre definitely worth a visit..thank you.

Our second holiday at Black Horse Cottages and again it didn't dissapoint.

Nice and clean and very well presented. Nice welcome visit by Mrs Parry to see if everything was to our liking, told us to knock her door if we needed anything. Playground area was a big hit with our grandaughter who we couldn't keep away. Grass nicely mowed and all areas around the cottages very neat and tidy. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful place to relax in. Will definitely be back again for another holiday next year. Super cottages and given a well deserved 5 star rating.

A lovely cottage in a quiet but convenient location.

Friendly hosts, the cottage provided plenty of room and was comfortable and clean. Lots of fields and public footpaths nearby so the dogs were happy too. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Nicely presented getaway; positioned well to access the whole island as well as some of the main attractions of North Wales and of the Snowdonia national park.

Well equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much. Only two very minor points to consider for the owner are the state of the access being a rough unmade road and that the entrance door seals were allowing draughts into the main living/dining/ kitchen area - only an issue in cold windy weather, though!

We had a lovely stay!

The cottage was clean, comfortable, and cozy. It was in a good central location for getting to everywhere we wanted to visit. We would definitely go back again. The only thing we found lacking was that there was no hand soap in either of the bathrooms and there was only one toilet roll per bathroom, which was not enough for 3 people staying 5 days, but it was easy enough to go out and buy some extras.

Overall a very comfortable and welcoming stay.

It's a 5 Star from me - from the friendly and helpful owners on site, through to the cottage being beautifully presented, immaculately clean, and the location fantastic too. I highly recommend this cottage, and for those with restricted mobility, the ease of accessibility throughout the cottage is a plus. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will most certainly be returning.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage which was very well equiped.

Just a few very minor suggestions that would make it even more perfect! 1. Not everyone likes very fragranced conditioner. For the first couple of nights we found the smell of the bed linen overpowering unless we slept with the window wide open (but it faded eventually). 2. Some hand wash in the bathrooms and kitchen would have been nice. 3. We worked out how to use the smart TV but some instructions would have been helpful. :

Peaceful good location for exploring the island and North Wales. Recommended.

The location was very good for our needs with good seclusion and parking.

The property was comfortable but much of the kitchen equipment was a bit of a 'hitch-ptotch'. Sadly there were no instructions for the appliances apart from the very basic microwave. However the owners were very helpful with assistance when it was required. Whilst the weather was very good for our stay, when we had a rain shower the patio decking became very slippery.

We had a lovely stay and have booked to stay again in August along with the adjoining cottage ,the only thing for us would have been a fridge freezer as the fridge only had aa small compartment to store our pre cooked food.

Overall the cottage is good value for money.

The only downside was the mattresses they weren’t very comfortable think they have had better days other than that the place is lovely and the dogs loved it.

My friend and l and our two pupsters had a most enjoying stay at 2 Black Horse Cottage and were lucky enough to have wall to wall sunshine all week.

Mr and Mrs Parry were very friendly and welcoming, Mr Parry even drove out to find us when we couldn't locate the property.....no satnav

We loved our stay , beautiful location, clean cottage with everything you need .

Only issue was the beds were uncomfortable, you could feel the springs , so a mattress topper would have been appreciated. Hooks to hang coats / tea towels would be useful. Owner very friendly and nice to have a pint of milk in the fridge when we arrived. Thank you !

Beautiful location.

Everything you could possibly need. Host really friendly, even left us a pint of milk in the fridge. Space for the dogs to have a run. The bath in the twin room wow it’s huge and the beds were so comfortable in this room. We would definitely stay again

Very clean and comfortable cottage in a lovely country location, but easy to get to other locations on Anglesey.

Loads of room for our dog to have a run outside. The owners were very friendly and helpful, and we look forward to another visit soon.

So peaceful where it is … no traffic noise. Short car ride to any shops … excellent Spar in village .. takeaway meals available! There’s a Chinese takeaway too! Local beach is lovely!

Very peaceful but close to local amenities.

Cottage exceptionally clean and hosts welcoming.Our dog had a fantastic time too and we enjoyed watching the horses, cows,rabbits,swifts and pheasants. Very close to Red Wharf Bay and scenic drives into beautiful Beaumaris with Snowdonia in the distance. Chinese takeaway in Pentraeth was very good quality and value and catered for the dairy allergy of one of our group. Panton Arms was dog friendly and boys loved the pizza - staff were excellent and very friendly. A really enjoyable and relaxing holiday. Anglesey scenery stunning and the cottage was an ideal base to explore the island.Highly recommend.

Lovely cottage in beautiful countryside.

Surrounded by fields with horses, cows and sheep. From the window we saw rabbits, pheasants and lots of different birds.

We had a lovely holiday in this cottage and it more than matched up to what we were expecting.

It was exceptionally clean and comfortable. It was very quiet with plenty of open space around it, ideal if you have a dog. We met the owner and he couldn't have been more friendly. You can reach anywhere on the island within about 30 minutes and there are so many places to go to. An added bonus was one of the best Chinese takeaways that we have ever had only a couple of miles down the road. The service we received from Sykes Cottages was top class.

This is a well-equipped cottage, situated in a good position for touring near Pentraeth.

I was concerned about going on holiday in the UK in October, but can confirm the cottage was well heated during our stay, despite being greeted by ‘Storm Alex’ on our arrival. I was also concerned about the quality of the wi-fi connection, as I use the internet on a daily basis, but I can also confirm the wi-fi was excellent and I encountered no problems whatsoever. Despite some bad weather, we did manage some nice trips out to most of the islands popular beaches and it is worth mention that Red Wharf Bay and Benllech can be reached by car in 15 minutes. We very rarely stay in the UK, but both my wife and I (and our puppy) thoroughly enjoyed this holiday.

A lovely cottage in a quiet area over looking a small field, where pheasants, rabbits and various small birds can be regularly seen.

Easy access to all parts of the island, a great place to stay. The owner was very friendly and welcomed us on arrival. Look forward to staying again in the near future.

Absolute Gem of a property!

!! It’s Wonderful to be able to find such a brilliant cottage to stay in with dogs & kids. My girls loved seeing the horses every day. The cottage it’s self has everything you need to make your stay easy & as a mum of two the play area was a god send. The owners were lovely really helpful. We’ve enjoyed our stay so much, We’ll be back next year as the location is perfect for getting out and about.

Looking for chilled laid back holiday this is the place just stayed for long weekend but wished it was for longer brilliant can't wait to go back The owners made sure we had everything we needed.

Everything was excellent from booking to holiday, cottage was beautiful as usual.

Whilst I got the date wrong, this was corrected on the day by Sykes and the owners and we had super week at Black Horse Farm We have been before and we will be back later in the year if it is available for a short break.

Sat Nav.) It was super. Great layout and location. The grandchildren loved the garden with the trampoline and swings. Also the horses in the adjacent field. Huw + Cerys couldn't do enough for us. The cottage was perfect for our young family and the setting was ideal with the play area at the back.

The children enjoyed running around with our dog and met some friends staying in an adjoining cottage also. A very tranquil setting! We had a lovely relaxing holiday. The cottage isn’t too far from local amenities and shops either. We had a couple of rides into Beaumaris which was beautiful.

The road up to the cottage was full of potholes and needs sorting out. The washing machine/dryer didn’t work properly. Also there was no wi fi which is inconvenient. The owner was very friendly and helpful. It was overall good value for money.

The Cottage was find, but next time we would probably look for a larger cottage and nearer to Baumaris.
