“Unfortunately we had a number of issues with this property.”
There were boxes full of rubbish outside, which didn’t seemed to have been emptied for some time.
Then we found that the button on the cistern to flush the toilet was broken. I called the owner who said the maintenance man would call later that evening. Then we found that the button on the cistern to flush the toilet was broken. I called the owner who said the maintenance man would call later that evening. He also gave us an address of a house a few streets away for a toilet we could use, but this was not really practicable. No one came in the evening and I had to text the owner who said a plumber would be out the next day and to be fair the problem was late afternoon.
I also had to text the owner as we could not find the Wi-Fi code despite looking through the information folder.
The TV also had no signal for the main channels. It seemed to be connected to a box on a small table which itself was on a boxed in shelf. There were also four remote controls and a disconnected fire stick.
The informal folder only offered information on not turning off the Wi-Fi as it ran the central heating boiler.
Then there was the recycling information. It was somewhat confusing which is probably why there were five boxes of rubbish outside. Fortunately we learned from a neighbour over the road that the boxes were due to be collected the next day. Obviously the owner is not responsible for the council’s recycling rules and given that the road has no pavement and is full of parked cars it is difficult to put the boxes on the road, so we put in the gateway and they were emptied. As for our rubbish we took it home as it was easier than trying to work it out.
And to the parking. It is a bit of an issue. We parked outside the first night, but had to park over the road, which is how we got talking to a neighbour, who very politely asked if we could move our car slightly as he was expecting a delivery the next day.
Over all I feel that while the house is kept nice and clean there seems to be no real oversight to ensure that it is being properly managed or to detect important issues (ie: a working toilet) that need resolving in advance of the arrival of bookings.
