“First impressions were OK.”

But the heating wouldn't work and only a small amount of logs for the log burner supplied. The heating stopped working again during our stay. We had to spend £30 on logs in order to keep warm. The living area needs a deep clean cobwebs every where and very dusty. Pillows like pancakes, so ended up with a bad neck. Be careful in the shower, the water was extremely hot and would take the skin off you. No way of adjusting the hot water temperature. Overall, very tired and needs a refresh. Pots, pans and equipment in poor condition. If looking for a no frills, basic stay it will be adequate.

“Lovely comfortable property.”

Easily accessed and within reach of everything on Anglesey and the north of mainland Wales Good quality fittings. Our only problem is that we both have mobility issues and the step from outside to the twin bedroom and the step down to the lounge was difficult . Both these could be easily improved: adding another external step to the bedroom (ie 2 steps up) and another hang rail for going down / up between the kitchen area and the lounge would help, The bedside lamp in the double room was odd and there were no instructions. Couldn't use the bath as we couldn't safely get in. Maybe some steps? These would also help shorter guests reach the top of kitchen cupboards. Maybe baking tray could be added and even a plug in USB socket ... both very cheap. Would have hoped to see a mention of problems that might face people with mobility issues. Regards Patti

If you like beautiful views, absolute quiet & good accommodation then this is for you. There were a few issues with the heating & hot water however Owain (owner) sorted these out. Due to having no light pollution the stars @ night were fantastic.

We were so comfortable there in front of a roaring log fire and a wonderful view from the large patio windows. The cottage was lovely and warm, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed and ideally situated to see all the wonders of Anglesey. We enjoyed our stay so much and would definitely stay again. Owain was very kind and checked on us when it snowed. Thank you Owain for leaving us some welcome goodies too, much appreciated.

“The property is well equipped and in a superb location with a wonderful view of Snowdonia, this enhances the lovely shared garden along with total peace and quiet to help you relax.”

The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful if you need any assistance or advice. The only minor things I would note are that the temperature of the hot water was scalding and could do with being turned down; also the thermostatic shower control was defective and could not be adjusted to make the shower cooler. My party all enjoy hot showers so it wasn’t really a problem for us. Would definitely return again.

Basically a nice property but tired. We found the settee and double bed uncomfortable. The facilities were ok but we did not get the log burner starter kit, nor loo roll. It was a good job we brought some with us.

“We loved our stay here, everything was perfect and the host provided swift assistance where required.”

The only problem we encountered was with the central heating. The radiator in the kids room didn’t work. The external combi boiler lost pressure a couple of times meaning there was no heating or hot water momentarily, but this was promptly resolved. Lovely location, we’d definitely recommend and would stay here again without hesitation.

“This cottage was a total disappointment.”

It was far from clean. The fittings x fixtures were in very poor condition. The kitchen cupboards were grubby and there was a cracked glass x broken cafetière . Many light bulbs were not working. The fridge had cracked drawers. All in all far from the best. I question how it’s got the rating it has?

It’s tastefully decorated and furnished throughout. The kitchen is well equipped with everything needed for self catering. We found the house clean and very comfortable. The log burner was an added bonus,we were warm throughout our stay during January/February. Outside there’s a private patio area over looking a large garden with distant views of the mountains. Although in a rural location it is only a few minutes away from Menai and Llangefni to stock up on provisions or dine out. Some of the most beautiful beaches are close by too. The cottage is an excellent base for discovering the island. The owner is very kind and friendly but not intrusive. We would highly recommend this lovely cottage.

“This was our 2nd visit to Bwthyn Gwyn and was just as enjoyable as the last time we visited 2 years ago.”

The cottage is in a fantastic position for exploring Anglesey with easy access to the A55 yet so very quiet and peaceful. It has beautiful views from the picture window across the countryside, a decking area which we did not use but would be great in warmer weather. Inside the cottage was warm and welcoming with the added bonus of a log burner making it very comfortable after being out all day. The kitchen is well equipped if you want to prepare meals, a big bathroom with a bath & shower with plenty of hot water. The double bedroom is lovely and we slept so well. The owners welcomed us on arrival and were available if needed but not intrusive. We would highly recommend this cottage for a holiday on the island and hope to return for a 3rd visit!

Only thing we noticed is there were parts that were not very clean. Handle of fridge door looked like something had been spilt in it, was brown and sticky. A lot of the cupboard doors had little splashes on and dust in the ridges, as if not wiped down regularly. we brought out a large frying pan than looked like it hadn't been washed properly and just put away, same as some cutlery. We just ended up washing everything before we used it. Everything else was fine, just think a bit more care could have been taken in the kitchen to make sure it was all clean, especially in these covid times.

No scissors or wooden spoons. We believe there should be larger wine glasses. The double bed had an end at the foot of the bed which is not good for people over six feet tall. Therefore I had to sleep diagonally across the bed which is not good for your partner.

There is everything you require including a warm welcome from the owners. There are a variety of places to visit from historic houses to beaches. The Coastal Path offers lots of opportunities for scenic walks. We enjoyed our stay despite the weather.

He left a tray of Welsh goodies for us on our arrival. He put two Christmas trees up and cut wood for the fire for us. This is the third Christmas we have rented this cottage it is so cosy warm and it's very relaxing being so quiet. It's central for all journeys around North Wales. Always clean and tidy with wonderful comfortable beds. The kitchen is well equipped. The views from the living room are wonderful. We have already looked up the prices for next year. About the location

PENMYNYDD

Red Wharf Bay 4 miles; Benllech 6 miles.

The scattered rural village of Penmynydd stands amidst lovely countryside only four miles from the stunning coastline of the beautiful Isle of Anglesey. The ancient village gave rise to the Tudor family, the forefathers of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, and today boasts the St Gredifael Church built in the 14th century and home of the Tudor Tomb. Nearby Benllech has a beautiful long beach, much favoured by families, with a slipway allowing easy access for all. A variety of shops and cafes front the beach, with a picnic area to the side, whilst the town centre offers more shops, pubs, hotels and restaurants. Only 4 miles away is Red Wharf Bay providing stunning scenery, miles of golden sands and a good choice of restaurants.
