We had a lovely time at the old barn from the moment we stepped into the property we both felt at home and it was very well equipped,the location was spot on with great views and walks and the hosts were excellent .

The Old Barn was a perfect stay clean comfy and well maintained.

Perfect if you just want to sit and read a book, situated in a hikers paradise easy walking distance to Moel Fammau and Foel Fenlli with lots of forestry walks too. Easy access to main roads to local towns . We’ll be back.

The old barn was a delight from start to finish of our holiday experience.

Good location to tour north Wales.

Small comfortable cottage for two people and a Springer Spaniel. The cottage had everything we required for our stay. Trish and Dave were very helpful and the homemade Bara Brith was excellant. Several local dog friendly pubs such as Druids Inn, Drovers Arms and The Raven Inn (community run). Moel Famau and Loggerheads Contry Park on the doorstep for walks. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Old Barn.

We loved this cottage.

Trish & Dave were great hosts and cake was delicious. Cottage was lovely and loved the conservatory where we ate breakfast most mornings looking at the fabulous view. The weather was on our side making it a fabulous few days. Loggerheads country park was only 2 minutes down the road which our dog loved. We will be back!!!!

Myself, husband and Milo our dog. Easy to find, email from Trish gave clear directions and how and where to get the key. Fresh home made cake, coffee, tea, milk and doggy treats had been left for our arrival. Stunning location, beautiful cosy cottage, all the utensils you will need for your stay. Moel Famou for fabulous walks literally on your doorstep. Easy access to amazing locations. Horseshoe Waterfalls, Tanacre Beach, Betsy Coed, Snowdon, Benrig and Alwen Rservoirs. Conwy, Llandudno all through stunning drives with beautiful panoramic views. After each visit looking forward to coming back to this amazing cottage and location. Coffee outside with views, listening to the sheep, birds, bees and at night the owl!! Glorious night time skies. Without doubt the best cottage we have stayed in!! Trish and Dave are very welcoming and have knowledge to share of places to visit. Wales was a dream visit!! THANK YOU

Ideal for a quiet time away in nature.

So many walks in the immediate vicinity.

This was the third time stopping here so I think that says it all really.

Fantastic location to wake up to everyday. Although it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere ( which we love) there are lots of shops 5-10 mins car ride away .

We had a wonderful couple of weeks in the old barn.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything we could possibly need for a comfortable stay. We were warm and cosy. The area is beautiful with walks pretty much from the doorstep. The Druid inn is an easy walk serves great food and is dog friendly . We couldn’t have asked for more the owners are lovely and whilst they live next door are definitely not intrusive.

We loved the little cottage which had all the appliances and utensils you could wish for.

We were well looked after by our hosts and nothing was too much trouble. A welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and lovely cake was waiting for us. There were also biscuits for the dog. It was set in a lovely central location and plenty of parking for the car. We had some lovely days out and would recommend Chirk Castle, Erddig Castle, Llangollen Aquaduct, Attingham Estate and Greenfield Valley Heritage Park.

Beautiful cottage, beautiful surroundings and location.

Owners Dave and Trish were really friendly and welcoming, providing us with milk on arrival together with treats for our Rottie and a fantastic fruitcake. All in all a really enjoyable break.

This was a clean, comfortable and cosy cottage in a great location; particularly important as the weather was very chilly for the time of year!

All very good! Thanks to Dave for lovely welcome and tasty cake etc. We had no complaints at all. We were, however, disappointed with the Sykes description of the outdoor space. It is indeed stated that this is shared with the nextdoor property, but we would strongly disagree that the outdoor seating area is private. Yes, each cottage has a small separate table and chairs place; but the whole area is shared, so dogs are free to wander all around. It's only fair to make others aware of this. We might have found it a bit annoying had it been warm enough to sit outside.

The Old Barn was a beautiful property in a beautiful setting.

The property was well equipped with a great range of cookware for self catering. There were high quality bed linens and towels. The local walks from the door were spectacular as were the views from the garden over the valley. The hosts were welcoming but not intrusive and we loved the welcome pack with homemade cake. Our dogs were also made very welcome too.

The Old Barn is a great place to stay.

This was a return visit for us having stayed a week the year before. Very nice accommodation with great views and walks nearby.

We had a really nice stay @ the Barn.

The cottage is located in perfect location for walks, 2mins from the place there is a "hidden" path, so you can start your walks away from cars etc. We have spend hours exploring surrounding areas with beautiful views. I would highly recommend this place, BUT please bare in mind something that we weren't aware of- that the "garden" isn't private, even though it states it is. There is another property that shares the spaces. So if your dog is good, as long as he is with people he knows, but reactive to unknown people, you will have to keep them on leash (unless obviously you are unconcerned about safety or others).

The Old Barn is situated in breathtaking scenery.

It is charming, well furnished and very comfortable The owners were helpful but not in any way intrusive.The walks start almost from the Barn so for dog owners it’s a real bonus.I had a great holiday,so many attractions nearby and I would love to return

Wonderful little cottage, really cosy and quiet, gave us a good peaceful break - owners were really lovely and welcoming.

Only one discomfort is the small club chair, it maybe improved with the addition of a foot stool.

A mention their is stone flooring will trigger guests to fetch their slippers. Everything else was great

The Old Barn is an excellent property.

We were warmly welcomed by the owner, and even had homemade fruit cake waiting for us. It’s well equipped and handy for both Chester and Wrexham, and also not too far from the coast. There are some great walks nearby, and with it being dog friendly, was perfect for us. Local pubs are dog friendly, and offer wonderful food. This is a property we would return to again.

Lovely peaceful well cared for cottage in a very beautiful location.

The owners were very friendly and helpful making sure we had everything we needed. The area around the cottage is absolutely beautiful and the views just 2 minutes down the road are undoubtedly some of the best in Wales when cresting the hill they really take your breath away. There are 2 properties on site and we have stayed in both and would highly recommend either. Happy holidays. Terry.

It is a lovely cosy barn and was vey clean with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Our hosts left us a tasty cake, tea, coffee, sugar and milk which was a really nice touch. Oh, and Millie our little dog enjoyed the treats left for her too……thank you! Would definitely recommend.

A beautifully modernised little cottage, full of home comforts and ideally situated for walks to country parks and attractive little towns like Ruthin and Mold.

Also within easy range are the beaches of North Wales and the wonderful gardens at Ness on the Wirral.

Great quite get away cottage

very well equipped property.

Comfortable and quiet with plenty of parking space. The property is fully fenced so this is only an advisory if you have a small dog and because my cavalier managed to squeeze through it on the last day, the gap between the gate and post is big enough to get through but there are plenty of things around to use to block it off while you are in. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here last week.

We have just come back from our Honeymoon at the old barn, it was the perfect romantic getaway and our two dogs loved it too!

Absolutely lovely welcome pack including a home baked apple cake from owner Trish which we have taken the recipe home to try and recreate! Loved every minute there so many lovely walks and pubs to dine at near by. We will be back! Xx

Wonderful cottage for a peaceful retreat .

Well equipped and very clean and comfortable.The cake was not only a pleasant surprise but totally delicious. We were constantly entertained by the family of yellow wagtails that reside in the patio area. Would highly recommend the cottage to anyone wanting a nice quiet peaceful retreat.

My Eddie standard poodle loved it and grounds are enclosed so he could wander around. Beautiful views and lots of lovely walks. Trish and Dave were lovely, arrived to some lovely homemade cake, tea, coffee, sugar and milk. My one complaint is I couldn't stay permanently! Definitely will be going back again. Loved it!!

View was fabulous. Hosts are very informative & friendly, nothing was too much trouble.

As the cottage said dog friendly,and also enclosed garden,this in my opinion isn’t true.

I found the staircase in the cottage dangerous,it needed a safety gate at the bottom,to stop the dog going up ,as the steps had gaps,which were quite dangerous.Also it said enclosed garden,that wasn’t .A dog could easily get out. Last. The grounds were extremely dark at night,they have lights but they go off after about 30 seconds.The lighting should be on for a set period of time. I have to give a frank an honest review.

Milk and home baked cake were very much appreciated. The owners were available for any problems but we didn't have any ! Very dog friendly and ideal location for walks or travelling to visitor attractions, feels like you are in the middle of nowhere but less than a mile from the main road. We will hopefully be back soon.

An absolute gem of a cottage, in a beautiful setting, overlooking the valley and hills.

It is perfect for a lazy few days relaxing or as a base to adventure further. Loads of nearby walking, it was too hot to move when we stayed but we have no complaints. Trish and Dave were perfect hosts, there if we needed anything, friendly but not intrusive. The cottage had everything we could wish for. We hope to go back so we can enjoy the walks. We were left a welcome package which included cake and treats for our dog. So thoughtful. 100% recommended this property.

We had a lovely week staying at the Old Barn.

The weather wasn’t great, so we walked less than we’d hoped, but there are some great routes including Moel Famau. Fantastic hosts, Dave and Tricia, made us so welcome and live in an adjacent property but pottered around the garden with discretion so we never felt spied-on. Tricia made us a fantastic cake (which I devoured as we drank tea and played cards outside when the sun did shine). The barn conversion itself is perfect for two people. The bed is very comfy, the en suite and kitchen are both clean and contemporary and the whole building is very well equipped with a plethora of plug sockets! The addition of the little conservatory on the back of the barn really does extend the available space; it’s a lovely place to sit (eat cake and play cards!). Highly recommended.

The Barn ticked all of the boxes...spotlessly clean, well equipped, tasteful decor, powerful shower, comfortable bed with good linen and is in a beautiful spot. Would love to return and be very happy to recommend.

All follow up emails were useful and helpful. Our holiday cottage exceeded our expectations. Beautifully renovated, warm, clean and very comfortable. We had a warm welcome from our hosts who quickly explained all we needed to know. The cottage, complete with festive tree, was perfect for our Winter break, both as somewhere to relax and its great location for going out and about. Our hosts certainly thought of everything to make it homely and ready for visitors to settle in quickly. I would highly recommend this for any time of year.

Great location for numerous walks from the doorstep including Moel Fermau,the highest hill in the Clwydian range.

Cottage very cosy with DVDs, books and jigsaws to occupy your time in the evenings. Not far to Mold with shops, eateries and a market. A great cafe at Loggerheads country park with cakes it die for. For dog owners the cottage is ideally situated for long walks, it has a secure garden and the friendly owners also dog owners provide everything you may need to wash and dry their paws after walks and treats to spoil them.

We were met by our hosts Trish and Dave who showed us where everything was.A lovely home made cake plus coffee and milk was a delightful welcome gift.Inside the cottage was spotless a cosy lounge with a conservatory looking over the garden with a table and chairs to have your meals.I couldn't rate this cottage highly enough.Very handy for Ruthin, Mold, and Loggerheads.A little gem.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Old Barn Cottage.

It had everything we needed, bed very comfy, the conservatory was a welcome additional space. We were fortunate to be able to sit out at the garden table and take in the beautiful view. The cottage is in a very peaceful setting yet only minutes by car from the local shop and pubs with good food. We can recommend The Druid Inn in Llangferres and the Loggerheads Inn at Loggerheads plus a bit further away The 3 Pigeons has a lovely outdoor setting. All of these places are dog friendly, booking advisable. Great dog walks nearby. Dave was a great host, always happy to help with any queries yet not intrusive. We would love to return to The Old Barn.

with little touches that was welcoming. The owners were very helpful. Not as isolated as the pictures show you have to pass the owners home then another cottage to get to the Old Barn, with shared gravelled area. Saying that it was a good base for north Wales.

The accommodation is not isolated but it was so "Peaceful and Quiet".

Delightful stay in this spotlessly clean cottage in ideal location for walking in the area. All mod cons and strong WiFi considering that the cottage is right in the country where often speeds are slow.

Beautiful location, great hosts, superb access to walking on the doorstep and easy drives to other great walks in North Wales.

Cottage is just as described - lovely and cosy, but plenty of space for a couple and a baby.

The cottage is ideally located for forays further into North Wales, Chester or Liverpool and Manchester.

Great walks locally and close to Snowdon. Best of all warm, comfortable great internet access and very relaxing place. Would recommend to any couple and we will be back.

Beautiful walks all around us

We had a wonderful two weeks in this pretty cottage, there was everything we needed.

The owners were on hand close to the Old Barn, they were very welcoming but not intrusive. The fact that we could bring our beloved chihuahua was an added bonus. Would recommend it. We would love to return as there is so much to see and do on the area.

A dogs lovers dream. This was The Jewel in the Crown. We didn't want to leave. So many places to visit and our dogs had a wonderful time. Owners were so welcoming.

Just spent a week at the old barn and it is the perfect romantic escape.

The cottage is small and very cosy and has all the facilities we could need. The area is stunning and walks are right on the doorstep. The owners were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be returning as even the dog didn't want to leave.
