We had a wonderful week’s stay.

The house was very clean and comfortable, with everything we needed, and the views were absolutely outstanding. The hot tub was also a great addition to the holiday - our children were so excited to get back to the house each day to get in it. The hosts were incredibly helpful and friendly, and they even left out home made cakes for us on arrival. I would highly recommend following the step-by-step directions given by the hosts rather than using a Sat nav - we found the house easily by following their directions. I would also recommend booking a supermarket delivery in advance as the most local one is some distance away. We arranged for a Tesco order to be delivered on our first night, & this worked well for us. I would definitely recommend this property for a holiday. We will be returning.

The Accommodation was lovely, very remote and quiet with fantastic views.

My only gripe is the track drop down to the Accommodation, this is very rough with large holes and loose shingle, and this is the one reason i would not return.

The property had absolutely everything we needed for a brilliant holiday. The owner met us in the village and led us to the property and showed us around. The owner was very helpful and responsive. Would definitely consider booking again in the future.

The host called us a few days before to arrange the details for the key pickup. He then met us on the day of arrival and guided us to the house (as our sat nav got us a bit lost!) The house itself was absolutely gorgeous! Even better than the pictures. A real homely feel and attention to detail was impecable. We were provided with absolutely everything we needed for our stay- towels, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, laundry detergent, etc. The house is very isolated, at the end of a road with no other houses around. So you have this really peaceful atmosphere with INCREDIBLE views to wake up to every morning. The hot tub was also really enjoyable! The host himself was friendly and attentive. There was a storm on our first day of holiday and the internet was knocked out because of it. I messaged him and he was very quick to respond and sorted out a visit from open reach. Same with a fuse that had blown one day. We never got to the bottom of it, but he came out to have a look within minutes of me messaging him and then arranged an electrician to come have a look the following day. Overall- finding this place made our trip so much more enjoyable! Would highly, highly recommend!

What a lovely house in a beautiful setting.

We were looking for peace and tranquility, and we certainly found it at Pen y Gaer. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas, and the welcome pack was much appreciated. We enjoyed seeing several firework displays from our bedroom window on New Year’s Eve. Diolch yn fawr, Dilwyn. Mae Pen y Gaer yn sicr yn lle i enaid gael llonydd. Ifan, Bethan a’r teulu.

This secluded cottage with stunning views is a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet (we saw deer, rabbits and buzzards from the windows!

). The ever-changing views (due to the weather constantly changing) of hills, distant mountains as well as the sea, were delightful. There is everything you could need in the well-equipped cottage, and the hot-tub was just perfect (especially on the day we came back from climbing Snowden). Whilst the small, winding roads to get to the property might be daunting for some, you do indeed soon get used to them and we had no problems in getting out for some wonderful days out in the local area (including two of the local ZIP Worlds - very exhilarating). We are quite self-sufficient but I got the impression that Dilwyn would have done anything to help if had needed any assistance. We had a delightful two weeks in this beautiful place. We would definitely consider coming back here one day in the future.

Wonderful cottage situated in a peaceful setting with expansive views of the coast and mountains.

This cottage is the most fantastic cottage ever for those who want a break - and to enjoy the absolute peace and quiet!

The cottage is equipped with absolutely everything! The hot tub is the cherry on the cake! And the owner - is the most helpful, happy, caring, and easy going man we've met! Coming for Gateshead - to this secluded cottage in the quiet country side - with sea view and glorious scenery was a massive treat! Just book it now.. You won't regret it!

This was a GREAT Place to stay, for us 3 generations.

The Grand children could play in the field next to the property , on a slide, a swing or play swing ball. There was a Hot tub. to relax in. We also used the Barbeque a couple of times. There is a Hill fort, close by You can walk to. You can see the Sea from the front of the house, although it will take you about 25 to 30 minutes to drive there. While there we visited Rhyl, Conwy, Llandudno, Gwrych Castle and a Boat Trip over The Pontcysylite Aqueduct. We also had had a nice meal in The Hawk & Buckle Inn.

Property is in the middle of the country side with no other houses in view.

A perfect location for peace and quiet. Waking up to the sounds of sheep, birds and bees every morning. The very narrow roads to get to the property are a bit daunting to begin with, but after a few days you get used to them. Every driver was friendly and patient when you had to reverse to the nearest passing point. House was fully equipped with everything you needed. With sky tv and apps available on the tv as well. Hot tube was clean, easy to use and great at night when looking at all the stars. A great base to start from when going out to visit near by towns and beaches. Definitely need a car to get about though. We managed to get a home delivery from tescos to stock up on some essentials on the day we arrived. Owners were friendly and helpful. They met us at the nearest village and showed us the way to the cottage. We had an amazing week, thank you.

We had such a lovely stay.

Dilwyn was very accommodating and responsive when we needed assistance. The home is so great and was the perfect fit for the 6 of us, we are already looking at returning.

We had a wonderful stay at Pen Y Gaer, the property was so clean and beautifully decorated making it a home from home stay.

Our 2 year old twins loved all the children’s toys & the huge field to play in! There was a slight issue with our hot tub on arrival but Dilwyn was extremely quick to sort this out for us and worked very hard to do so, making stargazing in the evenings a wonderful experience. Dilwyn & his wife met us in the village near the property and took us there which was a really lovely touch. They couldn’t do enough for us and were always happy to help. We really did have the best week as a family and we will definitely be returning.

We had a lovely, peaceful retreat in Pen Y Gaer, just what we needed during a very stressful time of our lives.

The views were wonderful and the peace and quiet was bliss. We enjoyed seeing wildlife, such as hares, black caps, buzzards, red kites and even a lizard. Thank you very much / Diolch yn fawr iawn!

We had a fabulous stay as a family of six of us our grandson loved the fact that it had the swing and slides and the little tractors and bike and all the other things that where there for him to use we loved the hot tub and the the rooms were spacious we had a excellent week here it was nice to go out for the day trips then come back to relax in the hot tub and it was so peaceful been in the countryside would highly recommend

Lovely location, so quiet.

The property felt like a home from the start.

We enjoyed our stay and the cottage was very clean and comfortable with stunning views.

I went on a walk on the tops and took some stunning pictures too. We visited Colwyn Bay, Rhyl, Abergele and Llandudno during our stay and went for a wander around tweed mill which is a large shopping centre with 2 cafe’s. All in all we had a relaxing stay even though the weather wasn’t great

What a fantastic place to stay, the cottage was clean, cosy and brilliantly equipped for our family of five.

We stayed the week before Christmas and Dilwyn and his wife had decorated the place beautifully. It was in a lovely secluded location which was perfect for our noisy boys to run around and explore in! Can’t thank you enough for having us!

The Farmhouse is nicely furnished with quality fitments.

My only negative is the fact that property is very remote. The narrow farm roads to get to property are not for the faint hearted. Potential holidaymakers do not know this, from just reading property advert and looking at the photographs. However we tried to enjoy our week at Pen Y Gaer as best as possible, and enjoyed the hot tub, looking out to the Welsh countryside. Thankyou to owner Dilwyn for all his help during the week.

Perfect location.

A challenge to get to, but that is the charm and host came to meet us on the first day. So quiet and perfect for our granddaughter. The sea views were amazing. Definitely follow the advice from the host about the directions. Sat navs seem addicted to tiny roads, but the hosts travel tips take you on a slightly longer, but definitely easier route. Lots of thoughtful ideas and tips.

The cottage was great, with all the amineties you would like.

If you plan to cook, would probably be a good idea to bring knives and a board. The beds a pretty comfortable. The owners were so lovely, really accommodating the cottage was comfortable. We were with a toddler so having to travel in lanes 15 minutes to get to a main road was a little tricky but they were amazing having a highchair, gate and travel cot. They even had some nice outdoors toys. The hot tub was a really nice addition to star gaze at night.

We had a wonderful stay at Pen Y Gaer.

It was equipped with everything we needed and the view was great. The hot tub was perfect - no faffing with controls etc as it was always warm - relaxing in the evening watching the stars, bats and owls was a delight. We took the hosts' recommendation to visit the local pub for steak night - we're glad we did!

We had an amazing week at Pen Y Gaer.

Everything we could think of was available from cafeteria to washing up liquid. The cottage was in a very quiet area and we enjoyed the relaxation as well as the fact it was close enough for us to visit Anglesey as well as lots of costal towns. The hosts Manon and Dilwyn were extremely welcoming and helpful during our trip. We hope to return next year.

Beautiful property with everything you need for a relaxing break.

Two of us stayed at Pen Y Gaer for 3 nights and it was a wonderful relaxing short break.

The cottage is a quiet retreat, private and secluded. Well equipped and wonderfully comfortable with the added bonus of the hot tub. The owners Dilwyn and Manon are lovely people who are so friendly and nice, who go out of their way to help and make you feel at home. We are definitely going to go back but stay longer next time. If you’re looking for a great place to unwind and relax then this is the place for you. It one of the best holiday retreats we have been to and you will not be disappointed. I can’t thank Dilwyn and Manon enough for such a fantastic stay.

Absolutely lovely property with stunning views all around.

If you’re looking to get away from it all, then I would highly recommend staying here. The owner, Dilwyn, was a great host. Met us in the village to drive us to the property, as driving directly to it using a sat nav would take us down a difficult road. House was lovely and cosy, had everything we needed for our two day break. The owners left us some cakes and milk in the fridge, as well as other essentials such as tea bags and sugar. The wifi was very good, considering we were in such a rural location. Handy to have sky sports and netflix etc. Hot tub was great, lovely to relax in after a busy day exploring. The location is very rural, but supermarkets and restaurants available within a ten min drive. As Dilwyn the host suggested, always use the sat nav to get to Henllan village first, and then to the cottage so as to avoid the very narrow road. House was spotless, and would definitely return next time we have a few days off. Can’t recommend highly enough. Thank you Dilwyn for everything, much appreciated. Andreas, Michelle and kids

Gorgeous location, owners are very welcoming and hospitable.

House has everything you need and the hot tub is amazing. We had snow the week we stayed and Dilwyn (owner) could not do enough for us from bringing logs to helping us get our cars out the snow and ice. We would certainly book again.

Had a lovely weeks stay at this beautiful home.

The house was fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Our twins enjoyed the garden and the ride on toys. We really appreciated Dilwyn meeting us in the village as it's tricky to find, but once you know, you know! Unfortunately, the location meant our ASDA delivery did not make it but there are several supermarkets just a drive away. The quiet secluded location was a perfect get away from our busy lives and the hot tub was a blessing. We managed to spot plenty of wildlife during our stay too, even one morning spotted a fox bouncing on the hot tub lid!! Highly recommended, the photos do not do this place justice.

Stunning cottage, views you could only dream of and the owners are lovely.

The home was clean and had everything you needed. Hot tub was lovely to relax in after a day out with the children.

We had a brilliant weeks stay here but sadly it just wasn't long enough.

Every last attention to detail was taken care of. There were plenty of toys provided for our 2 and a half year old granddaughter and even a nappy bin which was very useful with a 4 month old baby. Stair gates and travel cots provided also meant we didn't have to worry about accidents or bringing these items from home. Having a washer & dryer meant we didn't have mountains of washing to do at home after our holiday. The house is very clean and homely and in a perfect secluded spot, yet the coast and plenty of other attractions were very easily accessible by car. The hot tub was absolutely amazing and used every day for relaxing and star gazing in the evenings. We had a fantastic time and were spoilt by the all round views of rolling countryside. What a beautiful retreat, needless to say we have already booked for next year.

Wow, what a beautiful place to escape to!

The views are incredible and span almost the full 360 degrees. An extremely secluded spot too with little light pollution for star gazing from the hot tub. The owners have provided everything you could need to have a fantastic stay. We'll definitely be back!

This was our third stay and I can honestly say that this is the best holiday cottage we have stayed at.

The house is clean, comfortable and has everything you need. The owners are lovely. The house is in a fantastic location if you want a true countryside experience.

A group of five of us came to the cottage a few weeks ago.

This is hands down the best cottage we have been to, and we have been to a fair few recently. We absolutely loved the fact there was no neighbours surrounding you at all. You didn't have to worry about the noise what so ever. The hosts were absolutely lovely in showing us to the cottage and were there on hand if we ever needed anything. The hot tub was insane, nice and hot when we arrived. We were left some biscuits and other essentials and this was a lovely touch. We will one million percent be coming back in the coming month or so and will struggle to go anywhere else now. We got a great deal booking last minute and it was genuinely worth every penny. We all cannot wait to come again!

Dilwyn and his wife were so helpful in getting to the property and making us feel welcome in their home. The house is a hidden gem- the road to get to the property is fairly difficult but my Fiat 500 still made it! Would definitely recommend. The hot tub was a particularly lovely addition even in the cold to stay out and look at the stars :)

The village pub was very welcoming as well would definitely recommend a visit. The views are fantastic and the wildlife is in abundance, never got bored as plenty to see. The hot tub just finished off a great relaxing holiday.

The cottage and location were fantastic.

It was peaceful yet plenty of things to do in the evenings if we didn't venture out..BBQ, hot tub, land to play tennis/football on. There's swings and a slide for the kids. WiFi was excellent so the kids were happy! The owners were lovely, meeting us in the nearby village to guide us to the cottage, advice on routes to take to avoid the real country roads!! Even our Tesco delivery made it without issue despite the remote location. Would highly recommend and hope to stay again.

The house and surrounding grounds were beautiful, very clean and comfortable.

The veiws from the property were just phenomenal with veiws of the mountains and ocean from the hottub and inside the house. We found the owners to be brilliant and the service was spot on. The gas for the bbq ran out one night and they brought another gas bottle for us as soon as we asked, nothing was too much effort for them. 100% would recommend and return. Brilliant property and service.

My family have just got back from this lovely place.

The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay for however long you are staying for. The magnificent views of open fields and the sea can be seen from pretty much every room in the property the best views are from the kitchen / dining room. The hob tub was lovely and the views from there in the evening watching the sunset were incredible. There's quite a lot to do in the nearby towns / village. The property has so much space and a lovely enclosed garden area with a swing and slide which our daughter loved. The owners were very nice and helpful and nothing would of been too much trouble for them. I would definetly reccomend this cottage if your looking for a getaway in wales.

We have just returned from a week's holiday here and it was fabulous.

We only left the house a couple of times. It was so quiet and relaxing! We have already booked to come back next year ❤️ the field & playground we're amazing for the children. The hosts are great are there if needed. Stargazing in the hot tub has to be my highlight

We had an absolutely brilliant holiday in this accommodation.

The house was clean ,very comfortable, warm and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. We didn’t want to leave this wonderful place. The views and surrounding area are breathtaking and with the addition of the hot tub it pretty much makes the perfect holiday. Our children loved the sheep and exploring the fields and the owner is really lovely. We highly recommend this place if you want some peace and quiet and to be surrounded by wildlife , it’s the perfect place to relax . It’s close and a short drive to many wonderful coastal towns . This was a beautiful place to stay on holiday and so mush room kiddies enjoyed the fields and play stuff and the hot tub is amazing to relax in in the evenings.

We have just returned from Pen Y Gaer and just WOW!

It was our second time returning to the property and we definitely weren't disappointed! The location and scenery is phenomenal and the hot tub is an added bonus. The owners can not do enough for you either, they always ensure that you have everything you need for you stay :) definitely will return again in the future.

The extra little touches by the owners made this holiday home a superb little gem.

A lovely quiet cottage with a beautiful view over the the bay.

Very clean and very well equipped.

Perfect break for NYE, left to our own devices and had a brilliant time in the end.

Comfy beds, cosy lounge, there was a hot tub but due to cold weather and winter cold we didn't use the facility. We played a game of scrabble every morning that was in the house. We didn't venture far other than to Morrisons for cold & flu tablets which was not to far, Asda delivered food shopping too which was brilliant!!! We let off some fireworks in the huge field behind the house which was a lovely addition to the break.

Very remote with outstanding views our children were able to spend a lot of time outside playing and we didn’t need to worry, the owner was very helpful and even left the children a Xmas present which was very kind.

We have booked to go again in August and we are already counting down the days. We would recommend to anybody wanting total relaxation.

Amazing!

Comfortable, clean and spacious accommodation. Amazing views. Lovely owners that settle you in then leave you to enjoy your holiday, but are there if needed. Only thing I would say is to take towels because, considering there's a hot tub, we had what we considered to be a hand towel and hair towel each! There weren't hand towels in the bathrooms either. Thankfully we took towels, which we could use after showering, as was going somewhere after, but getting out of the hot tub at night and wrapping, or not, a small towel around you was very chilly!!! It's a chlorine hot tub which was perfectly clear at the end of the week. We would definitely return if we found another last minute reduced offer.

We are large family of 7 our 5 kids (10,7,3,2 and 2months) myself and husband had a lovely time here, the kids had space to play especially in the garden play area we went in October it was windy but very enjoyable.

It was clean homely and comfortable and well equipped. The owners Dylwyn and his wife, went above and beyond to make us comfortable and we also needed rescuing from the owners as we took a wrong turn and our car was stuck on the mountain at a turning! Rest assured Dylwyn and his wife came and pushed us out of the mess! It was such a experience and we had such a great time. We visited waterfalls and the beach which was a short drive from the property. I really can't praise the owners enough they were very friendly and helpful.

I will definatley be revcommending this holiday to family and friends.

Absolutely loved the place.

We didn't want to leave. We saw lots of wildlife, we loved the cottage it was perfect, the hot tub was a clear favourite with the breath taking views. It had everything in it we needed. The owner was lovely and took his time to show us round. Absolutely loved it all. We made some lovely memories and got lots of family time together. Just perfect. Thank you

Lovely peaceful setting.

Owners were very helpful. The cottage was fantastic. All expectations met.

The location is beautiful but would be impossible without a car.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners meeting us to guide us there and show us round is a lovely personal touch and gave us the chance to ask advice if days out etc. The only suggestions we could think of were the oven didn’t have proper trays so we could only cook one tray at a time, the hot tub went cold very fast because of it being so exposed and the towels we were given were too small for some of usZ they are all very minor things though as the rest is absolutely perfect!!

I only didn't put exceeded expectation because a promised call back didn't happen but apart from that, we had a lovely holiday

Wonderful cottage with view and wildlife but be aware it is miles from anywhere.

Not a problem if you want to enjoy complete seclusion but is quite a trek to main attractions. Quite fun getting in and out on single track roads. Very picturesque!

A lovely house situated in a wonderful lcation, the views are amazing!

The owner was lovely and very welcoming! The owner offered to meet us in the village and we followed him to the house, I would advise anyone staying here to meet him as well as the lanes up to the house are a bit narrow and a few turns off so you could get lost and sat nav doesn't take you right to the property. We had a few walks around the property and the kids loved the play area. Thanks for a lovely holiday!
