Probably the worst accommodation we've stayed in since the 1990's.

The world moved on, this hasn't. We spent the first hour or so cleaning up laundry from two bedrooms and washing cutlery, glasses etc and clearing litter from the previous occupants. The gas or oil pipe that feeds the house is exposed on the front step. You have to step on/over it to get in. The lino in the lounge is heavily ruckled in several places making a trip hazard. No locks on toilet or shower room doors, for a three bedroom house where you might go with friends, it's a big miss. No blind in toilet or shower room, despite these facilities being placed directly in front of the windows. Letter box is stuck on with sellotape, its been painted over, so like that for some time. Overall, a little dirty and dusty. It is in a rather rundown housing estate, with rubbish piled in neighbouring gardens, not an ideal destination spot. Very disappointing welcome from the host. Usually you would expect, as a minimum, some milk in the fridge so you can make a drink on arrival .... not here. 1.5 toilet rolls for 3 people for 3 nights is a little poor. If you're not providing this, say so, we'll know to bring our own. No spare tea towels or hand towels. Overall, very disappointed. We left early. Tried to contact Sykes cottages, but they didn't answer.
