Pendre Uchaf is a delightful stone-built, detached barn conversion set on a 320-acre working sheep and cattle farm, within easy reach of the historic market town of Ruthin in North Wales.

Perched in an elevated position, this rural retreat enjoys sweeping views across the scenic River Clwyd Valley.

Lovingly restored to preserve its original charm while incorporating modern comforts, this characterful cottage offers a welcoming base for families, groups, and one well-behaved dog looking to explore the beauty of the region.

Inside, guests will find three inviting bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen with a dining area, and a stylish sitting room featuring leather sofas, exposed beams, solid oak flooring, and a warming woodburning stove.

A bright conservatory adds further space to relax and take in the views.

Outside, the private enclosed garden is furnished for outdoor dining, with a barbecue and uninterrupted views across the valley—perfect for summer evenings.

Guests are welcome to visit the farm animals, and during spring, there may even be a chance to help feed the lambs.

The surrounding countryside is ideal for walkers, with numerous footpaths nearby.

Just a five-minute stroll from the cottage lies a tranquil open lake, perfect for fishing or a refreshing morning swim before setting off to explore the area.

Pendre Uchaf is well-positioned between Ruthin, Corwen, and Cerrigydrudion, offering a great base for discovering Llyn Derwen for fishing, Bala for sailing and white-water rafting, and the Clocaenog Forest for woodland walks and cycling trails.

For more adventurous days out, head towards Snowdonia National Park, where you’ll find attractions such as Surf Snowdonia in Dolgarrog, Zip World Velocity in Bangor, and Bounce Below in Blaenau Ffestiniog.

This charming cottage is also within reach of Bala, Llangollen, and Betws-y-Coed, making it an excellent choice for exploring North Wales.

Corwen 8 miles; Ruthin 10 miles; Bala 14 miles.

This hamlet is set on the River Clwyd between Ruthin and Corwen in North Wales. Within a 30 minute drive is Bala’s famous lake, the largest natural lake in Wales, which is renowned as a centre for great watersports including fishing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and whitewater rafting. Bala is also the headquarters of the narrow gauge Bala Lake Railway. The town itself is steeped in history and has a range of interesting shops, inns and restaurants, and an historical Town Walk. Beautiful countryside is all around with Lake Brenig, Moel Famau Country Park and Clocaenog Forest close by. Corwen features a range of shops, walks, the River Dee and a station opened in 2010 to access the latest extension to the Llangollen Railway. Ruthin is steeped in history and offers excellent dining, shopping and outstanding views. Further afield, but still within easy touring distance, are the coast, Snowdonia National Park and historic Chester. A truly wonderful part of Wales catering for all interests.
