“Six of us stayed for 4 nights in this cottage over the Easter holidays.”

The cottage itself was presented very well, lovely and clean and very cosy - the hosts also left us some crisps, milk and cake which was a nice touch. The location itself was beautiful, very private and ideal for walkers. Stargazing was fantastic! I would definitely recommend to stay here but with some caviats. The cottage itself was presented very well, lovely and clean and very cosy - the hosts also left us some crisps, milk and cake which was a nice touch. The location itself was beautiful, very private and ideal for walkers. Stargazing was fantastic! I would definitely recommend to stay here but with some caviats. We drove into the forest via Betws-y-Coed which took us in one direction to the cottage - it's a single track road with some steep inclines (no barriers) and just a few pull-ins (which you have to reverse back into if a car appears in front of you). It takes around 15 mintutes to get to the cottage on these roads, so you need a decent car and a very confident driver! We drove up/down 4 different roads from/to the cottage and some were a bit scary, so if heading to the cottage, you will definitely need the what3words app to locate the cottage and use the entrance to the forest nearest LLanrwst. Also, make sure you travel there in daylight - I don't think you'd find the cottage in the dark! The description mentioned having a 'starter kit' for the log fire, but there was only kindling in the log baskets (plenty of wet logs outside). We had sleet/ hail one night and it would've been nice to have a fire, just for the ambience of it all - so a few dry logs would've been good. The cottage was still warm though, so no complaints there. All in all, we had a lovely stay in a beautiful cottage - just be aware it's very much off the beaten track, but a haven for walkers and wildlife.

“Over all we had a beautiful relaxing stay.”

The property is stunning and location fabulous- the drive is a navigation in its self but respect that it is a rural location with narrow lanes and access. The main living areas are of a good size, soft furnished chairs were a bit grubby, sofas comfy The kitchen area is well equipped but pots cupboard was extremely untidy which made finding bits difficult (never did find a baking tray), some of the cups in cupboard were stained and needed a clean before they could be used. The seal on the fridge wasn’t great and didn’t ever feel cold enough but freezer was fine. We were disappointed that there was no kindle or firelighters to start a fire in the log burner and we had to purchase these ourselves to be able to use, the fire also had not been cleaned out from previous uses. Once it was on it was a lovely cosy room The ‘snug’ feels like a forgotten room! Could be very cosy but felt a little like a dumping ground- draws full of odd ends etc. Took us a while to work out we had to turn the boiler on to access the hot water but supply etc was great and showers really nice once solved, having the bath available after a days hiking was a great way to unwind. And we managed to work out how to get the underfloor heating on There are two ‘instruction’ booklets in the property but both have different descriptions of how to use things etc Bedrooms were all very comfortable and clean. Good size beds and good storage on the twin room and en suite room, there is no storage on the other room. The grounds were lovely and a cuppa on the bench watching the sky was a joy, garden was fairly secure for our dogs (if you have little dogs they can fit under the gate) We did have a power cut on the Saturday evening due to storm Dave which wasn’t much of an issue except there was a torch but no batteries in it or candles (apart from 2 small tea lights we found buried in a draw), our only light was from the fire and our phone torches (it’s just a suggestion that owners might put a back up box together for guests) The walks from the property were stunning and plenty to choice from, the views of the lake also beautiful. Drive into betws y coed was easy and the town itself lovely with lots of places to shop and dine . Overall a beautiful property in a stunning location and we would visit again it just requires a few improvements to make it a 5* stay

“Our holiday was perfect, exactly what we wanted so much so we have booked to return in a few months.”

I just wanted to report to the owners that the fridge does not work. The freezer worked absolutely fine but unfortunately the fridge did not work. The light didn’t come on when opening the door and the food was not cold. Please can you pass this information on to the owners? Many thanks

My wife and I and our Golden Retriever absolutely loved it and we covered over 30 miles walking in the surrounding area.

“I want to start by making it clear we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay, this cottage is in a stunning location with loads of wonderful hikes right from the doorstep.”

However there were many things letting it down which as it’s hasn’t yet got any reviews I feel need pointing out to help improve it going forward. Firstly it was not very clean at all, the carpets and furniture all have stains and marks on and the kitchen, cupboards, drawers, crockery and utensils were all dirty, we washed all we used prior to use. The kettle was unusable, we boiled water in a pan for the week as the inside of the kettle was black. The seal on the freezer was absolutely horrendous, I had to clean it the best I could but it was split and difficult to clean and there are cobwebs within the cooker extractor hood. There were loads of cobwebs around the cottage but I would expect this in an old cottage but not within the cooker unit! We had issues with both bathrooms, the shower doors are not on the runners correctly and at time just swung loose and the lights flickered on and off before finally staying on, the light pull switch in the en suite worked intermittently. Though it wasn’t an issue to us the place was very bizarre, drawers are filled with all sorts of clutter from loose random batteries, used lip gloss, unopened post, dvds in and out of cases, lightbulbs, blue tac etc all just rammed into the drawers. We found a pair of glasses behind a radio and batteries missing out of some of the remotes(not the ones we found in the drawers!) Again we didn’t want to use it but there was no sight of the advertised PlayStation. The smart tv wasn’t getting a signal which could be expected in such a beautiful but remote location but there are easy solutions to this. On arrival the place was freezing and with no clear instructions left we had to find the boiler and the user manual and get the heating going, it did then get lovely and warm. There was everything to light the fire apart from matches! The under floor heating also was switched off and I managed to find the instructions for this in a kitchen drawer, under an apron and an old telephone in an information folder which I assume should have been left out! Again once I got this going it warmed up nicely but as this takes a while the tiled floor was freezing for our first night. It’s such a shame as this place could be spectacular. The snug was not at all snug and could be made into a great drying room/utilty area and just some basic cleaning and replacing a few items would really help as it is all looking very tired. Just be advised also that again this wasn’t an issue for us but the property is accessed via very narrow lanes and then a locked Forestry gate. To end on a high though the location of this property is absolutely stunning and we genuinely did have a lovely stay and slept well in the very comfortable beds. Great location, beautiful character cottage and nice and comfortable but sadly let down by a few easy fixes.
