The Warren T23

This is genuinely the first negative review I’ve ever written about a holiday, so I don’t do this lightly.

Firstly, The Warren itself is fantastic. It’s a brilliant resort, perfectly located for Abersoch, and this lodge is in a lovely, quiet part of the site. Unfortunately, the lodge itself didn’t live up to expectations. The biggest issue was the hot tub. We specifically booked this lodge because, at the time of booking, it was the only lodge we could find on Sykes at The Warren with a hot tub, so it was a significant factor in choosing this particular property. On arrival, however, the hot tub was full of sand and clearly had not been properly cleaned between guests. The hot tub lid was also broken. The mechanical lifting arm had snapped, meaning the very heavy lid had to be manually moved, making it difficult to use safely and conveniently. Unfortunately, the issues weren’t limited to the hot tub. The general cleanliness of the lodge was below the standard we would expect. There were cobwebs throughout the property, and we also found a pair of underpants behind the radiator in the main bedroom. Taken together, it gave the impression that the lodge had not been thoroughly cleaned or properly checked before our arrival. The contact information provided within the lodge was also out of date and appeared to relate to a company that no longer exists. We initially tried to raise our concerns using the details provided, only to have our emails repeatedly rejected as undeliverable. When guests are trying to report issues with a property, the contact information provided in the lodge should, at the very least, be current and regularly checked. There were also a number of smaller issues which, individually, probably wouldn’t warrant a complaint but collectively added to the disappointment. No towels were provided. We appreciate this is stated within the booking information, but not having even basic hand towels or bath mats felt particularly inconvenient for a property of this standard. The lodge is advertised as not being pet friendly, yet there was a dog bed and dog poo bags left in the property, which seemed strange and made us question whether dogs had previously been staying there. The listing also specifically mentioned that there was no cot available, so we packed and brought our own. We then found a cot stored in the second bedroom, along with the correct cushions for the outdoor furniture. It almost felt as though these were things guests weren’t supposed to find, which made bringing our own cot unnecessarily frustrating. The mattress in the main bedroom was also extremely uncomfortable and, in our opinion, well below the standard expected from accommodation at this price point. Finally, the additional cost of using the leisure facilities feels excessive. Charging around £100 per person aged over eight, on top of the cost of staying at The Warren, feels difficult to justify and gives the impression that something which should form part of the overall resort experience is being treated as a significant additional extra. We weren’t expecting perfection, and some of these issues on their own would have been easy to overlook. However, when you combine the hot tub not being cleaned, the broken hot tub lid, underwear left behind a radiator, cobwebs throughout the lodge, outdated contact information, rejected emails and the various other issues, it points towards a more general lack of checking and preparation between guests. For accommodation at The Warren, and particularly at the price being charged, we expected considerably better. Overall, we loved The Warren and would absolutely return to the resort. The location, surroundings and resort itself are excellent. Unfortunately, given the issues above, particularly the problems with the hot tub that we specifically booked the lodge for, we wouldn’t stay in this particular lodge again.

Hi, The accommodation was great, it was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for are stay.

We will definitely be returning. The facilities at the warren were also very good and would keep the children entertained, it’s also very safe.

We had a lovely holiday at The Warren.

The indoor/outdoor pools were a hit with our grandson. The accomadation was comfortable .
