Found down a quiet lane just outside the centre of Porthmadog is this three-storey barn conversion, 2 Pensyflog Barns, offering immaculate and attractive accommodation for a memorable trip to North Wales.
This beautiful abode benefits from quality furnishings, stylish interiors and a wonderful position in view of the surrounding hills and within reach of the Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) and plenty of beaches.
After parking in one of the two off-road spaces, head into this marvellous dwelling, noticing the thoughtful touches and décor throughout.
To your left is a beautiful twin bedroom, complete with built in wardrobes and a Smart TV, something all bedrooms benefit from.
Head down the hall to discover the open-plan living space, with a sleek fitted kitchen for cooking up delicious meals, a rustic yet contemporary dining table with bench seating, and a sitting area enhanced by a bespoke TV unit made by the owner himself, holding a Smart TV, and two leather sofas to relax on.
Admire the artwork on the walls as you pass by with salads and plates to place on the outdoor dining table, situated on the patio, you can enjoy the views of the hills, with a few steps granting access to the lovely lawn.
Follow the stairs up to the first floor, noticing the elegant lighting, before finding the bathroom, boasting a bath with an overhead shower.
Also on this floor is the master bedroom, an exquisite room with a super-king-size bed, built-in wardrobes, large dressing table and spacious sitting area for two placed before the window, so you can enjoy a morning coffee with a view.
Completing the property is the second-floor king-size bedroom featuring a large en-suite shower room, with zip/link beds allowing this room to be made into a twin should it better suit the group.
Head into the town centre of Porthmadog to find a range of shops, both national and local, as well as a wide selection of eateries from traditional pub grub to exotic takeaways and quaint cafés. Take a scenic trip back in time on the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways taking you into the heart of Snowdonia within classic carriages pulled by a vintage steam train, allowing you to experience outstanding views of rivers, mountains, valleys and ancient oak woodlands.
The Maritime Museum offers an insight into the history of the town, with boat trips and cruises to catch from the harbour.
Enjoy a day on the beach at Black Rock Sands or head to the delightful village of Borth-y-Gest.
The town of Harlech boasts a castle dominating the landscape, along with a lovely beach, whilst nearby is the Italianate village of Portmeirion.
Visit Criccieth Castle before further exploring the Llyn Peninsula, with plenty to find here including the sailing haven of Pwllheli, the charming village and beach of Nefyn and the small fishing villages like Abersoch.
Enjoy walking, cycling, climbing and hiking through the Eryri National Park (Snowdonia), with Snowdon's peak affording amazing views and home to a spectacular visitor centre at the summit, with the option of reaching the top via the mountain railway too!

We really enjoyed our stay overall.
The property is spacious and peaceful, with beautiful views and a lovely large garden, which was especially great for the dog. There was always plenty of hot water, and the kitchen was generally very well equipped with lots of crockery, utensils and cookware. There are, however, a few areas that could be improved to make the stay more comfortable for future guests. The flooring is quite noisy and creaky throughout the property, and the twin bedroom is particularly small, making it difficult to move around comfortably. The kitchen has plenty of equipment, although a couple of medium-sized saucepans would be a useful addition. We also found the dishwasher a little temperamental and sometimes difficult to switch on. Some maintenance is needed in the bathrooms. The bath flushing mechanisms/plungers appear to be broken or difficult to use, particularly in the first-floor bathroom. The water in this bathroom also does not drain away properly. The bed on the first-floor level rattles noticeably whenever someone moves, which can be disruptive during the night. We also found some of the window blinds difficult to open and close. A few smaller details could also be improved. The wall clock is difficult to read and does not seem to be positioned particularly well, and we felt the artificial flowers were unnecessary. It would also be helpful if the handbook clearly explained where cleaning equipment is stored, as this wasn't obvious during our stay. Finally, we would have appreciated some advance notice when maintenance workers were going to be entering the garden. Even a quick message beforehand would have made this feel less unexpected. Overall, it is a lovely, quiet property in a beautiful location with plenty of space and some really good facilities. With a few maintenance fixes and small practical improvements, it could be an even more comfortable place to stay.

We do take all guest feedback seriously, particularly where there are genuine maintenance issues that we can address. The property is a converted building, and as with many older conversion properties, there is some creaking from the floors. This is something we are aware of and, while it is not currently causing a significant problem, we will look at addressing it as part of future improvements. The downstairs twin bedroom is indeed a smaller room, and we appreciate that this may not suit everyone. The room and its size are represented in the photographs in our listing so that guests can see the accommodation and layout before booking. We have tried to provide a range of photographs to give guests a clear idea of the property. We have also asked our plumber to check the bathroom drainage and the sink/bath mechanisms following your comments. The bed and blinds will also be checked. A couple of the other points are perhaps more a matter of personal preference. There are several saucepans of different sizes provided in the kitchen, and the decorative flowers are simply there to add a little colour and homeliness to the property. The large windows do mean that the vertical blinds need to be drawn across from the side, but these are relatively new and we will of course check that they are operating correctly. We’re sorry that the arrival of maintenance workers felt unexpected. Our maintenance people are instructed to ring the bell and make guests aware of their arrival before entering the garden, so it appears this was unfortunately overlooked on this occasion. We have reminded them of this and asked them to ensure they do so going forward. We appreciate that every guest will have different preferences and expectations, but we’re glad that you recognised the many positive aspects of the property and its beautiful, quiet location. We will continue to make improvements where practical and look forward to welcoming future guests.
We had a wonderful stay at 2 Pensyflog Barn as a family of 2 adults, 3 teenagers and a dog.
It is a beautiful property where the owners have thought of everything. Very comfortable and clean and tastefully furnished. It is also very quiet as it is down a country lane with nearby paths for dog walks. I would highly recommend and would stay here again. The welcome hamper was a lovely surprise too!

We had a fantastic stay at 2 Pensyflog Barns and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful base to explore North Wales.
The cottage was spotless, beautifully presented and had everything we needed for a comfortable family holiday. It was warm, welcoming and felt like a real home from home from the moment we arrived. The location was perfect. We enjoyed exploring the beautiful Llŷn Peninsula, visiting Abersoch and Porthmadog, and taking the Snowdon Mountain Railway. It was lovely to come back each evening to such a quiet, relaxing setting after busy days sightseeing. Travelling with our dog, Rex, the cottage worked really well for us, and we appreciated having such a comfortable place to stay while enjoying all the wonderful walks and scenery the area has to offer. A big thank you to the owners for creating such a lovely holiday home. We have made some wonderful family memories here and wouldn’t hesitate to return in the future.

This place was ideal for a 3 varied friends who enjoyed golfing and art.
The garden was brilliant for my dog when I left her with a friend while I golfed, safe and secure, ideal. Spotless clean! Well stocked utensils. The owner was in touch but not breathing down my neck and we rectified a minor TV issue between us. Only minor detail was the noise from the clock,(lovely piece of engineering), a constant whizzing/whirring noise, which im sure ,with owner permission the batteries would come out. We hope to return. We had a very enjoyable week.
The barn is very well equipped, even included games to play and books to read although we didn't need them as weather was amazing so went out every day. The local area has a lot to offer, beautiful beaches, amazing scenery, walks to waterfalls, lovely restaurants.

We really enjoyed staying here.
We used it as a base to walk sections of the Wales coast path. Its spacious, comfortable, well equipped, not overlooked with a nice view. Its down a lane that only leads to 6 properties, so very quiet. Its convenient for amenities and getting out and about. The only small issues we had were the clock downstairs needs oiling, the squeaking did get annoying. The tv in the main bedroom doesn't work, it turns off 3 seconds after being turned on, we had one wet, chilly day where we would have liked to put the heating on for a short while. The thermostat needed a code. That code wasn't available in the house so we couldn't use it. These 3 things are easily sorted. We are going to rebook for next year to use as a base again to walk the Llyn Peninsula. We are looking forward to returning to this property.

We are a family of 5 - 2 adults, 1x 3 yo, 1x 11 yo and 1 x 16 yo.
We have just returned from a week at 2 Pensyflog barns. The house was absolutely perfect. It was the best equipped rental we have had and there wasn’t anything that was missing or that we needed. The owners obviously care about providing the perfect place for a holiday and having spoken to them on a couple of occasions it certainly was obvious that this was the case. We were lucky with the weather and had several days on black rock sands which is a lovely safe beach. We had some visits to the local pubs / restaurants and all were very family friendly. Crabbing at the harbour is worth a go. Great fun. And the animal farm at llanfair near harlech was definitely value for money and a good place to spend half a day with the little ones. All in all a great week. And we will definitely be back. Thank you mark and Jo.

We had visited Portmadog first in 2023.
We always planned to return as there were still places we wanted to see. We booked 2 Pensyflog Barns Porthmadog through Sykes. As the barn conversion appeared to offer exactly what we were looking for and it did not disappoint. The property was Clean, comfortable and vey well appointed and lived up to all our expectations. We would recommend staying here to anyone and will certainly return our selves in the future. The owners information pack in the barn proved invaluable. We can all endorse there Resteraunt suggestions as top notch. The all ports fish and chip shop was the best I have ever had out side of Whitby. The Barn and the whole area gets 100% from us. Fantastic place to stay.
Barn was immaculate in both decor & cleanliness & perfect location for us to explore the area; a beautiful part of Wales. We had a wonderful weeks stay. Excellent communication in advance from Mark which was helpful. Our only very small suggestion would be the addition of a washing machine which we prefer when on self-catering holidays.

Lovely stylish property - very spacious, comfortable and well equipped.
The best place we've ever stayed for wardrobe and drawer space and hangers! In a quiet location but within walking distance of shops and very convenient for lots of beautiful places to visit. Not far from some wonderful beaches. Secure garden ideal for the dog but a bit boring to look at! A few low maintenance shrubs or colourful pots on the terrace would be nice.

A fabulous place, light clean, stylish and very comfortable.
The property is also well positioned for visiting lots of the fantastic highlights of the area. The only downside is that the area just behind the property is full of junk - and although you are shielded from it mostly it is all you can see from the second floor bedroom.

Pensyflog Barns is in a rural location and the land behind is owned by a farmer who does have some old tractors and equipment storage which can only be viewed from the very top bedroom. Pensyflog Barns has its own self contained garden which is secure from the farmers field and it does not impact on the enjoyment of the property or garden. We hope this explains and hope that we could welcome you back for another stay in the future.
Just returned from a lovely 3 night break at New Year with my husband, daughter and partner, and teenage grandchildren.
The property is outstanding. Top quality furnishings, plenty of storage and all the equipment you can think of for cooking and cleaning. Weather was awful but got out, flying kites on Black Rod sands, walking around Portmerion, Zip wire at Blaenau Ffestiniog. Will return.

This was our second visit to the property and the condition and comfort were as good as last year.
Its in a really great situation a short walk from both Porthmadog and Tremadog and a short car journey away from the excellent Black Rock Sands.It really is a dog walkers paradise and we can't wait to get back there.

The home is super spacious, clean, modern and the views are amazing. It’s only a short walk into the centre of Porthmadog from the accommodation which is tucked away in a quiet corner, the perfect location. We all slept very well in the house, there was everything you could need there too. We will definitely return next year but this time for a longer stay! We had a wonderful time in North Wales, despite the weather!
The cottage was perfect for our needs; very close to Porthmadog and its facilities and a ground floor bedroom for my elderly father. The property was very tastefully decorated with comfortable soft furnishings and a well stocked kitchen. The interior decoration was of a top quality and everything was immaculately clean. Not for publication A small note to the owners. Didn't want to put this in the guest book because everything was wonderful. A small maintenance note - when my father attempted to pull up the blind in the downstairs bedroom the cord just detached from the mechanism at the top. I am sure it is just a simple fix to reattach it but we didn't want to start fiddling about with it in case we made it worse!

We had a lovely time at pensyflog we could have stayed all summer!
The welcome gift was a really lovely touch and everything was immaculate. The location was perfect for exploring Wales. The owners gave us some wonderful recommendations and we found some lovely spots of our own aswell. I thought the attention to detail in the facilities of the property was excellent such as kitchen utensils hand soap etc. The only advice I would offer to anyone staying would be that the bed in the main bedroom is quite loud due to the metal frame and we had a little one in a travel cot next to us so the noise from getting in and out of bed would often wake the baby which wasn't ideal but the other bedrooms would have been fine.

What a beautiful place!
We all had a fantastic stay and were all blown away by the property. Everything was immaculate, great facilities and perfect for what we needed. I had a 5 month baby so brought a travel cot with us, the master bedroom was perfect with plenty of space and chairs in there to feed him too. Mark and Jo were always at hand to answer any messages and offered fantastic advice on places to eat. Walkable distance into Porthmadog if desired, we had a gorgeous ice cream from Cadwaladers, possibly one of the nicest we’d had! My husband is already wanting to book again and explore the golf courses! Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

Cottage was fantastic.
Well equipped for all needs and decorated to high standard. Well situated for getting around North Wales and close enough to amenities. Would definitely recommend a stay here. Just one little thing to note the access steps to front door and garden steps could do with some sort of rail to help children and the less abled as they got a bit slippy in the rain.

Lovely property, thoughtfully decorated to a high spec.
Everything for self catering was well provided. Well situated for town centre and walks. Suited our family of 6 plus dog. Family was mixed age group from 76 years to 19 years. Although towels are provided, 1 hand towel per bathroom was not enough. Had we known we would have taken more ourselves. This did not change our view, it’s really a home from home. The welcome gift was a really nice touch too and well received. Also thank you to the owners for their restaurant recommendations. I would certainly recommend this lovely accommodation.

This is a beautiful holiday home in a lovely location.
It is pure luxury with quality furnishings. It was nice to receive a welcome text and a very generous welcome pack from the owners.The only thing that we feel is missing is a little fence by the stairs in the garden as if a child or a dog was playing in the garden they are in danger of running over the edge. We would recommend this property 100%.
Genuinely exceeded all my expectations.
It’s a beautiful property with all the mod cons you could ask for. From the moment we walked through the door we were impressed. A lot of thought was put into the little touches; A lovely gift basket, a selection of boardgames in the hall, timer and motion activated lighting, access to a fan, smart TVs in every room and Wi-Fi extenders to ensure good coverage on every floor… This is a place where genuine consideration has been put into every aspect of your experience and I was very impressed. Porthmadog is also lovely, excellent access to boutique shops and multiple supermarkets, and perfectly situated for exploring Snowdonia and beyond.

The barn is beautifully fitted and presented.
The welcome pack of sweet and savoury treats and tea was a really lovely touch. The open plan kitchen and lounge allowed us to have a very sociable stay with our grown up children! The enclosed garden was ideal for our son's Dachshund. Everything had been thought of for a weekend stay, instantly making us feel at home. We loved the location; we felt we were in the country and yet the High Street at the end of the lane: perfect.

This property would be perfect if it had a washing machine, however I would absolutely book again, the property is in a fantastic location and is possibly the best I have stayed in after holidaying with Sykes for over ten years.
The accommodation is fabulous with large well appointed rooms, and a totally secure garden for our dogs. It is within easy walking distance to Porthmadog with a good choice of cafes and restaurants and Cadwaladers ice cream parlour is a must ! and borth y gest ( sea view restaurant) which is stunning and further afield to criccieth you must eat at Dylan’s !! and train station at the end of the road to take you to Pwhelli and Caernarfon. Thank you to Mark and Jo for a wonderful stay, we will be back !

The twin room downstairs would not have been suitable for 2 adults.
Narrow beds, little space & insufficient storage. Should be listed as a childrens room. Our 89 year old mother struggled due to the height and width of the beds. One reason for choosing the property was to ensure that she had a downstairs room with toilet facilities on the same floor.
We were sorry to hear that the downstairs bedroom did not come up to your expectations and that your mother struggled with the beds; had you let us know we may have been able to help with a solution. They are standard height beds and the images are shown on the website. The downstairs bedroom has a double wardrobe and a good size chest of drawers. We would always encourage anyone who has special requirements to contact Sykes ahead of booking to clarify any information regarding the property.
This is a very comfortable holiday cottage in a great location for seeing North Wales.

The owners have thought really carefully about what you need for a comfortable holiday. A thoughtful welcome gift on arrival. A real gem! Location great with some fabulous walks in the area. We were lucky with the weather and even managed to use the outside space. Big thanks for the use of a beautiful house.
We had a lovely stay at 2 Pensyflog Barns.
Well positioned for exploring Snowdonia, the Llynn Penninsula and the wider area. The property is modern, clean and well provisioned (A washer/dryer was the only absent item of note for those staying for a week or longer). There are several cottages in the terrace and being a modern conversion the walls are not brilliantly insulated. Our stay was slightly blighted by a group of lads in No 1 on a stag weekend which involved partying until 3am on our first two nights - not great, but no fault of the owners of No 2

Everything was perfect, we cannot fault anything. Shops nearby, great location for activities, (we went to the zip worlds) pubs, nice walks. Super clean and tidy, had everything we needed it was brilliant. We would happily book again- thank you for a lovely stay.

The property was absolutely brilliant.
Exactly as described and perfect for a few days in North Wales. The bedroom was really comfy and plenty of room to assemble our baby’s cot. Kitchen had all we needed to cook a couple of meals. Plenty of flyers and info to inspire places to visit. Brilliant location for exploring both sides of the coast. We hope to stay again

Everything you needed was provided. Excellent location. Modern decor would love to know the colour used in the downstairs bathroom as the wife now wants to redecorate our living room with it. Will be back at some point.

The WiFi wasn’t really up to expectation.
Sometimes the screen on the main tv would hang and we were unable to watch when mirroring from an IPad. All 4 of us had IPads and there were times that we couldn’t get the internet. Not a major criticism as the accommodation was so good, just a minor irritation. The top bathroom needs a shaver socket like the one in the master bathroom, as we had to share to be able to recharge our toothbrushes. Fortunately, I wet shave. Again, a minor inconvenience
We contacted BT and there was a problem with the Wi-fi connection at the exchange and this has now been rectified; thank you for bringing it to our attention.
We loved staying at this very well equipped and beautifully presented ted barn.
. If we had to be picky I would say no washing machine for long stay let's.. And the lawn had just be mowed before our arrival and must have been wet as our little westie ended up green the moment she ventured out! It never dried out enough for her to play out but I don't want that to sound like a moan as we had plenty of fab walks in the surrounding areas.. And it was so peaceful there.

The only item we really needed was a clothes airer to hang wet clothes, as we had to use bathrooms, garden furniture and walls.
Otherwise a very luxurious, well stocked and furnished house.

What a wonderful cottage.
Very Comfortable, well-equipped cottage.
Overall everything was fantastic, however there were a few things that let it down Wasn’t obvious where the key box was on arrival, would be good to give instructions for that No hair dryer or iron which would have been handy, all shops in town had sold out of hair dryers so made do The small twin room downstairs was very small compared to other bedrooms, it was a very narrow bed for an adult and had only been made up for one so even pushing beds together wasn’t ideal with single bedding.
The door to the bedroom wouldn’t open passed the bed so had to move over etc

The holiday barn was furnished to a high standard and very well equipped.
Plus the location was ideal for places to visit.
Wonderful house with all the things you need.
Allocated parking for two cars, TV in every bedroom, all the cutlery you need, beautiful interiors, amazing view and a very nice town in walking distance. Highly recommended.
