“Absolutely lovely little cottage and location, with it's own garden attached.”

Sheena and Ian (and Summer) were very welcoming, and made us feel very comfortable. As the cottage was made from stone, it was lovely and cool inside during this hot summer, and the location was great for being surrounded by countryside and only a few minutes drive from our GoBelow experience. Tall people do need to duck within the cottage, as a couple of the door frames are made for your average height person - just a "heads" up on that ;) The kitchen had everything we needed, the shower was ...

As the cottage was made from stone, it was lovely and cool inside during this hot summer, and the location was great for being surrounded by countryside and only a few minutes drive from our GoBelow experience. Tall people do need to duck within the cottage, as a couple of the door frames are made for your average height person - just a "heads" up on that ;) The kitchen had everything we needed, the shower was welcoming, and the lounge was a lovely place to chill after a long day. I would absolutely be booking in here again if I find myself in the area again.

“I’ve hesitated to leave a review as I didn’t want it to be overly negative but this isn’t somewhere I’d choose to stay again and thought some honest feedback might help.”

The location is good as a base and, if you have pets it has a lovely enclosed garden, but the premises would greatly benefit from a sign on the driveway as you’re coming directly off a 60mph road. It’s difficult to travel slowly along searching for the concealed entrance. The accommodation itself was adequate but the uneven flooring in the kitchen area was really awkward and potentially dangerous. I’m not sure why it hasn’t been levelled out. Coupled with that the cottage is really dark with wood panelling and dark brown carpets and there are steps between each room that are not marked at all. It makes them very difficult to negotiate safely. There were other more easily remedied niggles including a tiny fridge that wasn’t adequately sized even for just 2 adults. The bedding was nylon and felt clammy and damp. Cotton bedding is always more comfortable. The shower floor didn’t dry out for the whole week and there was no way to dry it. Although I could see that the decor reflected perhaps tastes of the owner, filling it with plastic plants and ornaments collect dust and made potentially useful spaces untidy. We also struggled with the cloying smell from the logburner. I’m really sorry that we couldn’t be more positive but hopefully the feedback is constructive

“We have had a brilliant mini break here!”

The property is beautiful and has everything we could have needed to make the break enjoyable. The kitchen was fully stocked and even buckets and spades for the beach! The hosts were lovely and came to greet us on arrival and were very prompt in replying to messages. We cannot wait to stay here again! Thank you.

“The cottage was really cosy and well equipped.”

The host had prepared our arrival, turning the heat on and preparing the fireplace. We couldn’t have asked for more. The cottage was fully equipped and I don’t think we missed anything. The living room was full of books, old travel novels and hiking charts. Very interesting to read. Only thing we were not 100% sstisfied with was that during the night it was a bit moist in the bedrooms. However, that is for the most part our own fault trying to save electricity. The cottage has a meter fo electricity that takes 1 and 2 pound coins. Electricity for £50 were provided. You can see how much is left and that went fast. But good for being energy concious. All in all - wonderfull host, very cosy cottage, and lovely landscape with some great attractions nearby. We would love to go back

“We were absolutely pleased with everything, we felt super comfortable like we were at home.”

The hosts were the kindest people ever, super helpful and simply lovely. We loved the overall aesthetic of the place, the garden was like a fairytale. We had our dog staying with us. We found everything super convenient and well equipped. We made a good use of kitchen. My favorite were the heated blankets, I love a warm sleeping environment. We had such a good rest and we would love to visit again! Oh, and 10 stars for cleanliness.

“Charming little welsh cottage.”

Pleasant garden. Friendly host. Very clean. Nice big telly but the Sky was outdated and slow. Great WiFi. Unusual layout in the property. It was one long ground level - Bathroom in the entrance hall, then the kitchen, then one bedroom, then another bedroom and finally the living room. That might not be practical for some. Also take care with the small steps that were in every doorway. Overall though I’d definitely recommend this cottage.

“Sheena was welcoming when we arrived.”

Both her and her husband were friendly and helpful. The cottage was quaint and welcoming too. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Well equipped with what we needed for self catering. Lovely garden area for our little dog. Problem sorted with the TV very quickly when mentioned. Ideally located for stunning views inland and coast. All things considered was a lovely week spent and weather was at its best. Bonus!

Cottage itself was very quirky. As a family of 4 and a dog we loved it. Lovely little garden for the dog Kitchen was well equipped with all you needed. Honestly I'd give it 12/10 If you want a week or two in North Wales then seriously snap this little gem up

“Well what can I say….”

After reading the previous “review” I approached this place with a bit of worry in the back of my mind, I needn’t have worried. It’s exactly as it says on the listing! It was clean and very comfortable, had all we needed. The hosts were super friendly I have a medium wheel base sprinter and had no trouble parking we only used £20 of our electric that included cooking breakfast and dinner and a shower each in the morning. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place or returning again. Many thanks. Rob.

“This was a lovely, ideal self catering lodge, amenities were plentiful and the warm fire was perfect after our expedition to Snowdon.”

The owners were kind and nothing was too much trouble, Would definitely recommend for anyone wanted to use as base camp for exploring the area. Will hopefully returning in later this year.

“I was at the property for 10 mins & left as I would not stay there.”

It was far from my expectations for a Four Star rating, The property was dowdy & depressing, felt damp with a musky smell. No complimentary toiletries such as soap, shower gel, shampoo, etc, no tea or Coffee which is usually normal in four star premises. The TV was difficult to work, parking & access to property was tight & wasn't aware property was on the Main Road. Electric was run on a coin meter which I have NEVER come across travelling before. There was a small overlooked garden but you were basically sharing the owners garden who also had a Dog. Awful experience would never go back there in a hundred years & lost £315.00 to boot.

I am very disappointed with your review,especially as I have run the holidaylet for 18 years and have never had a review this harsh or as ill-informed.Indeed we have many returning guests year on year. I would like to address some of your points.I provide free view not full sky.I also provide £50 credit for the meter so that's not an issue.Our dog is well trained and gentle,she is never out of our control. We don't provide toiletries ect as its self catering not a hotel. I always ask guests to inform me of any issues but the only problem you mentioned was the inability to watch the football.As a suggestion before booking your short break Elsewhere please read the description. The fascinating old slate town of Blaenau Ffestiniog is situated in a superb position for exploring the Snowdonia National Park. There is a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat. The main local attractions include Zip World Slate caverns, the longest zip line in Europe and fastest in the world, this is a great underground adventure. The slate mines now hold the prestigious status of a world heritage site, awarded by UNESCO and visitors can take enthralling underground trips there to see mining as it was done in days gone by. The famous narrow gauge Ffestiniog mountain railway also runs for 13 miles through the Snowdonia National Park to the harbour town of Porthmadog. Nearby is Portmeirion village, famous for its architecture and the film set of the cult TV series The Prisoner, plus local beaches, suitable for children, are within easy driving distance.
