Haddef Penmaenmawr

We found that the WiFi connection did not extend beyond the sitting room.

The outside area was slippery when wet. There was no visitor book or information provided for the appliances. The bathroom basin would not drain, and the TV information was not correct. We attempted to seek assistance regarding these issues during our stay. Menai Cottages were able to assist us.

We stayed here for a week in August and had a lovely time.

The property is beautiful, very spacious, easy to find, and features a massive driveway. The beds and sofa were incredibly comfortable, and the house is fully equipped with everything you need. A real highlight was watching the squirrels and feeding the fish, which my daughter absolutely loved! We also took full advantage of the nice patio area and outdoor furniture thanks to the great weather.The location is excellent—just a 10-minute downhill walk to a beautiful beach with a great cafe (which serves the biggest 99 ice creams ever!). It is also within easy reach of plenty of local amenities, including a Co-op, Spar, bakery, cafes, takeaways, and a general store.The only minor downsides were that the Wi-Fi doesn't reach two of the bedrooms, which was quite annoying for the kids' downtime, (a Wi-Fi booster in the hallway should solve this) A few maintenance quick-fixes are also needed: there was no shower mat, the bathroom light switch is intermittent, the toilet seat needs replacing or tightening and the motion-sensor kitchen light kept turning off while we were washing up. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely visit again. Thank you!

The best thing about Haddeff is its spaciousness.

The beds are comfortable, there are plenty of sofas, a great place to spend in the mountains and near the sea. We came here again after enjoying it last year and will come again if we can. The only thing I would recommend is that it gets a deeper clean to bring it up to five star cleanliness.

Spacious, clean, well located to travel to different parts of North Wales. I would be very happy to stay here again. Our only constructive feedback is that we needed some egg cups & a shower mat as this was quite slippy. 1 other slight concern was the safety around the fish pond. Needs some attention with the wooden decking area.

We had an enjoyable holiday, there were some minor faults that the landlord had left information about, that were in the process of being repaired, which had no impact on our stay.

Nice quiet area. The pub on the corner only opens late afternoon but has a friendly welcoming atmosphere, if you wish to eat out you would need to travel further afield. I would recommend visiting this cottage and if I was visiting the area again would rebook.

The location of the property is great and it is light and airy.

Unfortunately the property wasn’t very clean and needs quite a bit of TLC both inside and out. Basics such as hand soap and one toilet roll would have been nice, as would a welcome pack. Bedding needs to be updated as this appeared old. Hoover did not work… and smelt awful. With some updates and TLC this could be a much higher rating.

Had a lovely week at this bungalow garden lovely and great view out of large living room window close to all amenities and beach will definitely return Welsh cakes and milk left for us thank you to the owner

The bungalow is large and spacious, offer peace and quiet with large enclosed wrap around gardens and lovely views.

I had everything I needed here, easy walk 5 mins to the beach or mountains , 2 mins to local shops or pub, easy transport links with bus or train and car. Really enjoyed the place which was clean warm and had everything I needed. Rebooked a weeks return.

The accomodation was filthy, the mirrors hadn't been cleaned in a long while full if dust.

The heating was not working the owner had it on his hive computer system that it wasn't working according to the engineer but nothing has been done so we got a shock!! The place has apparently been on the market for two years according to locals. Sykes gave us some of our money back but the owner would not. So we are thankful to Sykes for their support

Great location but smelled of dog went to coop to buy air freshener which we used for first 2 days

After reading the previous reviews I was sceptical about booking this property; and then finding out it is actually up for sale.

First impressions pulling onto the drive were really good. The entrance hall and dining room were lovely and the smaller double room. But sadly after that was much less impressed. The kitchen needed a good deep clean with a funny smell. It was the kitchen bin which hadn't been cleaned at all.....so armed with disinfectant and rubber gloves I sorted it. The windows were dirty and needed a good clean ; which was a shame with such lovely views.The outside space was great but sadly again in need of some attention ; poorly maintained. The furnishings were mismatched and the general decor needed attention. It is such a shame this property is so unkempt and felt unloved. It has the potential to be a beautiful home; in a fabulous location.

It was a lovely holiday bungalow with spaciousness all around.

The front garden is lovely, the back garden interesting for the children with fish in the pond. It has everything one could need. A few suggestions: the cleanliness needs upgrading eg kitchen dustbin washed out between guests . shovel and brush cleaned properly. THe kitchen could do with a deep cleanse. There are many cobwebs on the swing outside. Maybe a plug in diffuser to give a better smell inside would enhance the place. Dustbins in the rooms would be helpful. THe clock in the living room does not work. Some bing bags and toilet paper would be helpful for when one arrives. Other wise a really pleasant and spacious place which I would come back to. We had problems with the towels smelling not fresh but this was replaced really quickly when contacting Menai Holidays which was great.

We had a lovely stay at Haddef Penmaenmawr, really nice and comfortable bungalow, A couple of things to note, it's listed as wheelchair accessible, which is great with the ramp to the door and wide hallway and corridor, but I would have expected some grab handles in the bathroom near the toilet and maybe a seat in the shower, my wife managed as we brought our own, but without these it would have been a struggle, needs a sweep outside and a couple of decent chairs

Very clean and comfortable and no steps!

It could have done with somewhere to put soap and shampoo in the bathroom and perhaps a stool or rail for those of us who are less able. We enjoyed our stay, thank you.

A lovely bungalow in a convenient position.

A comfortable 5ft bed and good shower but no rail to hang towels. Lounge and dining room pleasant. Garden was well enclosed for the dog, but needed some TLC. Basics in the kitchen not up to standard, dishes were minimal and pans. Overall we enjoyed our stay, however disappointed as there was no welcome pack whatsoever when usually with Sykes we at least have a pint of milk left for us.

We had a wonderful stay at Haddef Cottage during our recent trip.

The place was very clean, spacious, and had everything we needed for a short break. It was lovely to find small extras like milk, ice, and full kitchen facilities – a nice surprise that made us feel welcome. Although the outside could use a bit of maintenance, it didn’t affect our stay at all. The inside more than made up for it. Overall, a cosy and comfortable property that we really enjoyed. Happy to add Haddef Cottage to our list of special places visited!

lovely cottage great location, unfortunately it suffers from problems associated with others in that the pans were virtually unuseable they were modern but the teflon coating on them all had been badly damaged by the use of the provided metal cooking utensils which badly scratches the coating wearing through the coating making the pans rusty, the shower in the bathroom badly leaked and whilst I got it something like working provided only tepid water, the tv control re the volume control especially was useless, I tried a battery change in both tv and satelite system controls still didnt rectify the problem due to the lack of contact details we couldn't tell the owner as a result of all of the above we had to return home 3 days early.

Lovely bungalow with lots of room.

Clean and tidy, however there were several areas which need a lot of attention. The kitchen is described as well equipped; the pans need replacing (this could because the one jcloth supplied could not tackle the caked on grime left by previous visitors); the mugs and plates are a mismatched assortment; the cutlery was two sets of of adult size and a set of six pairs of flimsy children's cutlery. There were no Pyrex or microwave bowls so Microwave cooker was obsolete The beds were comfortable but the pillows should have been replaced a long time ago. For the amount we paid we expected a much better equipped holiday home.

Having read some of the reviews I was not sure whether or not to book this property but as it was a late booking took a chance and booked dates which were available in September.

The bungalow is very spacious and I really couldn't see why so many negative reviews has been received. There is parking for more than one car, the garden is secure (a must for my dog) and the bungalow is well equipped and had everything we needed. Yes there are a few paint spots on the floor but that did not detract from our holiday. The beach is about half a mile away and dogs are allowed on some parts of it, the parking is free and it was mostly deserted. There is a coffee shop and swings next to the beach. The beds were clean and comfortable and the bedrooms were spacious. The kitchen and bathroom are relatively new and both served their function. There was plenty of hot water and we had no problems with the shower. There are two shops very close to the property so no need to drive to a supermarket. There is also a chip shop and Chinese takeaway just down the road. My only criticism would be that there were no pillow protectors on the beds and there seemed to be a problem with which bin to put out meaning they hadn't been emptied. There are plenty of places to visit nearby so we didn't have to travel far. Compared with other holiday properties it was also very good value as it is a lot cheaper. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay there again

Lovely cottage had a great stay but with one major problem.

Something needs doing regarding general non-recyclable rubbish as the outside bin was full when we got there and there were black ripped bags in the garden as well. We contacted the helpline number twice but even after assurance the waste was not removed.

Lovely place.

Shower needs maintenance for sure...it was cold at times and water leaking. We made sure house was well looked after but I thought my friend had emptied fridge and she only took her food out so food in fridge. I totally forgot to re check fridge as dealing with elderly Mother . Would definitely stay here again. Needs a bit of maintenance the property .

Good size property.

Close to beach & local shops. Very comfortable & clean. Welsh cakes & pint of milk left a nice touch. Plenty of parking. Very comfortable

This was a great base location with a beautiful setting.

The bungalow was very spacious with fantastic views. We would have given 5 stars but were let down by the 3rd bedroom having no curtains up making it feel uncomfortable to sleep in, even though the back garden was private every bedroom should have nice black out curtains up. There were 3 windows in the living room with one window having no curtains up, which is nice during the day for the lovely views but no blinds up at the kitchen window either. Previous reviews mention paint splashes everywhere, whoever decorated this lovely bungalow obviously didn't use dust sheets or give it a second coat of paint. We would go back if we knew the owners had dealt with obvious problems. It was disappointing to see as it really is beautiful and somewhere anyone would love to live in.

Had a lovely wk & the owners gave us an added bonus of decorating the property for Christmas. Our only suggestions would be to give the property a little TLC & removal of old saucepans. Could also do with a few more kitchen utensils . We would happily return for future holidays. Thank you.

I must admit I fell in love with Haddef!

It has such a homely feel. We came to Penmaenmawr for a cadaver dog training course. Haddef was well situated for us. The enclosed garden was perfect for Leiki, our dog. The bungalow was warm and spacious, and the shower was lovely and hot, perfect after a day on the mountain. The room by the back door was perfect for our gear and looking after Leiki. We couldn't recommend it more. The views from the house were stunning and we cooked up some lovely meals on the gorgeous cooker and ate them in the dining room while admiring the views. In the evening we chilled out in the sitting room. The village was only a short walk from the bungalow too. Hopefully, we can stay here when we come back next year.

Very spacious, well equipped but corners cut which was a shame.

There is a splendid cooker, the pans were not usable. Where the non-stick coating had been scraped off they had all rusted. So The only way to cook was with frying pans, baking sheets, or to use the microwave oven. New pans don't cost much! Spotless kitchen. The only bed we used was in need of renewal because it was so old. We loved the privacy and the location, the directions were essential and no parking problems because of an ample private drive. An attempt had been made to put down artificial grass but it was a disaster. I'm sure weed -resistant membrane and wood chippings would look better. On the plus, it was really warm and well-ventilated. The amount of light was wonderful - big windows in every room. The welcome pack was also very kind. Nice front garden (there was a pretty border and mixed shrubs) but a bodged, unfinished structure (seating area?) and collection of overflowing bins didn't give the best first impressions. On the morning of our stay we received a call to say a wardrobe door had come off and it was at the top of the list to be replaced, this reflected how there was care about the interior and the comfort it offered visitors. Strange details let it down (the missing carpet at the side of the bed, two carpet squares being laid down to fill the gap). We had a good stay, we really did but were niggled by the details mentioned.

The house is in a fantastic location and is very spacious with loads of light, which is lovely.

The only thing that lets it down, as some other visitors have also commented on, is the quality of the decor. There are paint splashes on the floors/carpets in pretty much every room, the curtains are very thin and don’t fit the windows properly in some rooms, there are gaps in carpet that have been patched with completely different pieces of carpet or mats in the master bedroom, holes in the wall panels in the bathroom and badly hung cabinet doors in the kitchen which prevents some doors from fully closing. There was also a really fusty smell in the living room - I think it came from the blankets and cushions. These are all fairly minor things, but combined, they let the property down as they make it feel a bit cheaply done. When you pay almost £1000 for one week, this is disappointing. Also, there were absolutely no toiletries provided - no hand soap in the bathroom, no washing up liquid in for kitchen and no laundry detergent in the utility room - and no hand towel in the bathroom either. Again minor inconveniences but providing these for visitors would make a huge difference to first impressions and comfort of the stay. Having said all this, the property and garden are large, the facilities were all in good working order, the Wi-Fi was fast and the living area is very comfortable, so the major points are all fine. If the feedback from ourselves and other visitors was taken on board and addressed by the owners and cleaners, then this would make a huge difference and go some way to justifying the price that is being charged.

Garden furniture could do to be upgraded. There were only 2 outside chairs. Inside is a bit tired, but clean.

Great location and nice to have off road parking. Ramps helped immensely as we are disabled.

This bungalow has been beautiful now a little tired.

Freshly painted but splashes all over the floor. No toiletries or soap in shower room, lack of towels. Dirty washing in laundry basket. No mattress or pillow protectors on beds, duvets and pillows not good. Needs new patio furnishings with adequate seating. With a little investment this property could be 4 star

Great property ideally proportioned x d positioned.

In a lovely village with a fantastic sea view difficult to beat it.

From the outside looked quite nice and inviting as you stepped inside, the hallway was very wide the flooring was very tired and there were splashes of white paint on every floor including the carpet in both double bedrooms, in the kitchen, the dishwasher was full of plates ect at least it had been washed a small freezer would have been a help there was plenty of empty floor space one of the cabinet doors wouldn't close.

Onto lounge area, at first, sight looked presentable but after resting up on the corner unit it was an apparent and nasty smell coming from somewhere we wiped it all over and seemed to help but the smell returned. Now onto bedrooms in all not too bad but the carpet paint splashes as already mentioned but to be really honest they are filthy at one stage on Monday I think I thought I would give the carpet a good hoovering but the Hoover was totally clogged up so I completely emptied now bear in mind there was too bedroom carpets and one large rug in the lounge and without a word of a lie I had to empty the hoover three times each time going over the same three areas before I gave up. it had a lovely garden and we enjoyed the birds, squirrels and swing seat as for the fish pond if you have one it should be maintained there was no water pump in use In conclusion, the lovely area had plenty of days out to visit and we will return to the area but sadly unlikely to Haddef An old saying comes to mind don’t spoil the ship for a ha’p’orth, of tar.
