Bryn Derw Holiday Cottage

We loved our stay, the house was amazing and the views even more amazing.

I had elderly parents with me so the downstairs bedroom and bathroom was a bonus. A nice little food package was waiting for us on arrival which was a nice touch. All the beds were comfortable so we had a good nights sleep. The alpaca's were lovely, we all found ourselves talking to them when we was in the garden. You do need to drive everywhere as its at the top of a big hill so there is no walking to the pub or shops. Would we stay again or recommend if we was in North Wales, yes we would.

Had a perfect 4 days at Bryn Drew, beautiful spacious house with everything you needed, lovely outside area and views you could sit and look at all day.

Comfy beds and lovely rooms with a lovely homely feel about the place, couldn’t fault anything, we will be back

What a lovely property, everything was spotlessly clean.

The beds were very comfortable. All the facilities listed were first class. The welcome pack was greatly appreciated, as was the chance to feed the alpacas.

The property was excellent and extreamly spacious, and had a separate space for a dog.

We were made to feel welcome. The Alpacas was a big hit, being given food to hand feed them. Internally to a high standard and the beds were very comfortable. A splendid view of the valley from the hot tub. We would definately consider returning. A big thank you to Delyth and David for making our holiday so good.

The house was lovely clean and tidy.

Welcome basket with bread milk and other items were a nice touch. Delyth put up some Happy Birthday balloons which was also a nice touch. Great log burner and hot tub to enjoy. The view was amazing of the Conwy valley.... Would recommend xx

We had a lovely Christmas week at Bryn Derw the welcome gift was lovely, the cottage was spotless and had everything,the beds were very comfortable lovely views from the conservatory we even got to feed the alpacas

The property was really good.

Kids enjoyed the Game room and the Hot tub, The Bedding was very comfortable. It has amazing views and its really quiet like we wanted. Host was very nice and very helpful. We would definitely recommend this property for a stay.

Brilliant property that far exceeded our expectations.

Beds were comfy, kids loved their own play room, the 2 ensuites were really appreciated and all accessible for the less able in the group. Owners were friendly and easy to get in touch with for any queries. Would highly recommend.

This property made our family holiday.

Plenty of space to enjoy individual activities or join together for fun. The view from the hot tub is breath taking. The horses and alpacas were fantastic. The owner could not have been more kind or helpful. It is situated outside of the village up a steep hill and has broadband, although not a fast speed, it did what I needed it to do, (download books). I would certainly return to the property and would recommend it to family and friends.

Lovely spacious cottage in great location.

Will never get tired of that view. Very clean and comfortable and everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Most important thing for us was quiet and peaceful setting. Loved the hot tub, alpacas and horses. Del and David were very friendly and welcoming. It was our second visit and will definately be back at some point. Would highly recommend.

The house is nice and welcome basket was lovely.

However the bath mat hadn’t got a nonslip backing I got out of shower on Monday the mat went one way and I went the other, breaking several ribs and breaking my shoulder, ruining our holiday and will be suffering for the next few weeks.

Wonderful views from the property across the valley.

House was comfortable and the owners who lived nearby very quickly dealt with a problem on our last evening. The children loved the hot tub and would have spent all holiday in it if we had let them. Delyth, the owner brought food so the children could feed the alpacas which they really enjoyed.

It’s our second time at Bryn Drew Cottage, it was another amazing week, it’s well equipped everything you need its perfect, welcome pack is a lovely gesture, the views are amazing, and feeding alpacas was an awesome experience thanks to delyth and David for everything.

The cottage is absolutely beautiful and we were blown away when we arrived.

We visited with our friends so there were 4 adults, 1 teen and 2 small children). We were celebrating a couple of birthdays, including a 40th, and walked into a giant 40th balloon and a welcome hamper on the dining table, as well as a ballon banner that spelled out 'Happy Birthday' across the conservatory. The consideration and thoughtfulness of Delyth and David were second to none. The grounds and view are just breath-taking and the house was spotless and stocked with every possible item that could be needed. We had so much to entertain us during the evenings thanks to all of the games that were provided in the games room. The view from the hot-tub was just incredible and we often got in before dawn so we could enjoy the beauty of the valley unfolding. We were delighted to see the alpaca that lived in the field near the house; it was really magical. David popped up towards the end of the week, as we had been looking for a hoover and he had mistakenly locked it in the garage; whilst at the cottage, he invited us and the children to visit the barn at their farm to feed the alpaca, which was really lovely. The kids got to properly meet and feed the alpaca and also met Ella and Shaun, the ponies. David was really patient and kind to the children, letting them have a look at, and sit on some of the farm vehicles in the barn. There are some lovely places to visit nearby, including Conwy Castle, which is stunning. We would definitely recommend staying at Bryn Derw; Delyth and David are wonderful hosts and their visitor book is packed with messages of warm and sincere thanks for the wonderful stays had by previous guests (many who have returned again and again). We will definitely be returning; Bryn Derw is my new favourite place!

We loved our stay with you.

The unfortunate water problems caused a slight inconvenience, with 6 people needing to shower etc, but we understand that was beyond your control, and you did try your best for us, supplying bottles of water for drinks etc. The hot tub is a great addition and the alpacas are wonderful. I would however warn potential clients of the 33% incline as it did prove difficult for our granddaughters little car to get up the hill. Fabulous stay and would definitely highly recommend

Felt like home the minute we walked in.

Fantastic views whatever the weather and the hot tub is fabulous. Lovely to have direct access from the house to a field for our old dog to roam. All the family enjoyed feeding the Alpaccas. Well appointed bathrooms downstairs and ensuites in the upstairs bedrooms. Quality appliances in the kitchen so Sunday lunch for 8 was enjoyed by all and we managed to eat alfresco! Very special to have daily visits from the red kites and early morning call from the house martins. Owners quick to sort any queries,and thankyou for the lovely welcome basket and birthday banner. Highly recommended.

The house was amazing.

The views were stunning,have stayed in many holiday cottages with Sykes and they have all been excellent but Bryn Derw has been perfect.We had good weather which helped but hoping to go back again and try the house in the winter I'm sure it will just as good.

The host’s were extremely welcoming and helpful. The cottage is beautiful and comfortable, and extremely clean, inside and out. The setting is beautiful and tranquil. Lots of bird-spotting and beautiful sunrises. Very well positioned for exploring the beauty of north wales. Would definitely recommend.

My friends and I spent a lovely 3 days in this beautiful holiday home.

The views were amazing and the Alpacas kept us amused all weekend. The owners went over and above to make our stay a success. They even put up birthday banners and left cards for the two ladies celebrating their birthdays. A welcoming basket with essentials including Prosecco was much appreciated. We would definitely look to return in the future.

Views from the property are fabulous and so many nice walks all within easy drive from the property. Would definitely recommend.

We can only echo the fabulous feedback from previous reviewers, this holiday cottage is one of the best that we have stayed in and a real home from home.

Set in a beautiful rural location high up on a hillside with the lovely little village of Eglwysbach with its friendly pub the Bee Inn, and Bodnant gardens very close by. Betws-y-coed, Conwy, and Llandudno are all within easy reach. Zip world velocity is a 40 minute drive away and well worth a visit for kids big and small. Many thanks to Delyth and David, this is one place we will definitely return to in the future.

We have just come home from a wonderful stay at Bryn Derw.

A super house with wonderful views and easily accessible for my 92 year old mother. A well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge and sun room, and very comfortable beds, in fact one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in. I'd also like to thank Delyth and David for the welcome gift of goodies which was most appreciated by all. We would definitely book again when next in Wales.

Absolutely amazing property with fantastic views over the countryside.

The four bedrooms were very comfortable and bathrooms fabulous with very powerful showers. Living are and sun room also very comfortable and views were amazing. The property is next door to the owners farm and Del allowed us to feed her Alpacas who were just beautiful and so gentle. The hot tub looks over the valley and sitting in the garden is so quiet it’s like a little piece of paradise in Wales. It does sit at the top of a very steep hill but it’s totally worth it as the view and peace and quiet are outstanding. We can’t recommend it enough.

The house is amazing and fully appointed for the 10 people who enjoyed the stay. The views are incredible, loved the hot tub, llamas and the outdoor area. Indoors was great with a large kitchen, lounge, dining room, 4 bathrooms and conservatory. Can't fault it and the time went far too fast. Thank you!

We had a fabulous week in this amazing property with our family including two small babies.

It had absolutely everything we needed, it was spotlessly clean and really well maintained. The views are spectacular, the hot tub was great, sitting in there just looking at the countryside was so relaxing. The alpacas are great fun, our grandchildren loved watching and feeding them. The owners Del and David were extremely helpful, and left us a lovely welcome basket and a bottle of prosecco, great start to the holiday! We would love to come back and have already recommended the property to friends and family.

The views are amazing. What a treat to eat breakfast outside contemplating the scenery, including the 6 gorgeous alpacas! I have remembered their names! I would not say I am a frequent user of hot tubs, but sitting in the tub with those views, with good friends was wonderful, especially while the men made tea! The house was warm and welcoming with a lovely welcome pack. Many thanks. The beds were so comfortable and there was everything you could need in the kitchen. There was lots of space and a super conservatory to take advantage of the views. The birdsong every morning and evening was a delight too. Perfect.

From the moment we arrived we were given a very warm welcome ,sat nav details were spot ,very easy to find Fantastic welcome pack and an anniversary card for my parents ,initial concern with heating controls ,owner was there within 5 minutes to explain and talk me through it.

Vast knowledge on the area and advice .The amenities and facilities where amazing ,very very high standards throughout, everything was thought of.My dog made some alpaca friends in the adjoining field .Great location in a very idyllic village .The owner was fantastic very obliging ,above and beyond and couldn't do enough to make our stay one we will always remember , 5 * rating, 100% satisfaction,you will be not dissapointed .Highly recommended

From the time we arrived we felt at home, welcome basket very much appreciated. Owners couldn’t do enough for us making sure we had everything we needed and pointing out all the local amenities, zip wire experience well worth a visit. Grandchildren loved the alpaca’s in the field, we were even given food to feed them. Hot tub was a hit with all of us.

We enjoyed a fabulous family new year break at this property and I can honestly say it was one of the best places we have stayed.

The house was spacious, beautifully furnished, Super clean, well stocked with everything we needed and more. The welcome basket was a lovely caring touch. The views were simply stunning and we loved sitting in the hot tub overlooking the hills and enjoyed total tranquility which allowed us to switch off from our busy lives. The games room and den were a hit with the teens. The owners were responsive to one or two questions I had and really helpful. We couldn’t fault anything and would book again without a doubt.

One of the nicest holiday homes we have stayed at and is a credit to the owners.

The standard of everything is excellent. Great location with stunning views. Will highly recommend to friends and family and hope to be back soon.

Absolutely beautiful cottage, amazing views and very peaceful location.

There are also plenty of rooms so if traveling in a large group so you won't get under each other's feet. The welcome pack was a lovely touch, with local ingredients. Only a short drive away and you can visit Conwy, Betws-y-coed or even Snowdon. The zip wire at Penrhyn quarry in Bangor is also a short drive away and a must for an adrenaline rush . If eating out only a short drive away there's the fabulous Groes Inn , which also do gluten free meals and is dog friendly. All in all a fabulous stay.

The hot tub was clean and always hot, and so relaxing. Delyth (the owner) couldnt do enough for us and was always just on the end of the phone if we needed anything! Stunning property in beautiful surroundings.

The cottage was very clean and Delyth was very helpful. The welcoming hamper of local foods was a lovely touch. Unwinding at the end of the day relaxing in the hot tub looking out on the welsh countryside was heaven.

The owners live locally and were incredibly nice people.

The house is lovely and was spotlessly clean. A gift basket was left for us in the hallway which was very good of them. Seven of us stayed there and the layout allowed us to all be together but have our own space. We highly recommend Bryn Derw for a great holiday.

We have had a fantastic stay.

The house and location are absolutely beautiful. The house offers home form home with literally everything you need which is what we love when staying in the UK. Even though this house is quiet remote you literally drive 10mins to a shop and 20mins to a supermarket so it is the perfect location. We wouldn't of changed a thing. We'll apart from the weather, we missed the heat wave by a week. The hosts were amazing and left us a Hamper and a birthday cake and prosecco as we were celebrating 3 birthdays. Will defo book to come here again. Outstanding!!!!!

Bryn Derw is a very spacious, comfortable, modern house in a stunning location.

We were a party of seven adults and two dogs and lots of room for everyone. The owners were very warm and welcoming and left a generous welcome pack with some Welsh goodies. The roads to the house are narrow with high hedges on either side and the final mile is up an steep hill (33% gradient) but oh so worth it. The alpacas at the front of the house were a bonus. As first time visitors to the area we loved the surrounding countryside and our trips to Llandudno, Colwyn Bay, Conwy and Caernafon. The Bodnant Gardens, only a couple of miles from the house, are well worth a visit.

Beds & bedding were extremely comfortable &! If good quality. Del & Dave were just the best hosts! Very warm & welcoming nothing was too much trouble for them communicating with Del from start to finish was excellent! The views from the house were beautiful and helped to make our stay a very relaxing week. Alpacas in the field right next to us were a delight to watch. The huge hot tub was fab-u-lous. Del left us a welcome pack which was very much appreciated, lovely touch, as was the birthday balloon & Prosecco. Wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend & have done so already!. Hope to return, can’t wait!

Superb house and views which would be hard to match anywhere.

Facilities are good and beds, baths etc are of excellent standard, the kitchen is superb. The hot tub is in under cover which is great and that also gives you lovely views of the valley. We got a welcome basket on arrival (nice touch). The house is a great base as you can hit anywhere very easily. When we go back to wales we will defo be stopping here.

We just got back from a fantastic holiday.

The pictures of the front of the property really don't do it justice. It's very spacious, and well equipped and everything was immaculately clean. The hottub was great - much bigger than most. For anyone thinking about booking this place, do it, you won't be dissappointed.

Holiday was great, Bryn Derw was lovely.

Our elderly friend had the upstairs double and expressed a wish for a chair in the bedroom. My disabled wife would have liked an armchair in the lounge/conservatory, but these were only what would have suited us. The house has everything you need for a stay, long or short. Fantastic. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

The size of the cottage was brilliant.

The views from the conservatory were magnificent( including the alpacas) The hot tub great for an evening soak. A fantastic welcoming pack. Very high spec and very clean. All in all a great place to stay. The owners very friendly and helpful.

This review contains a WARNING.

The property is excellent in cleanliness, comfort, friendliness of the owners, views etc. The hot tub was wonderful, especially after a day on Snowdon & there was a hamper with tea, coffee, bread, butter, eggs & milk waiting for us (somewhat superfluous as not knowing it would be there we'd taken provisions). A lovely touch was the Prosecco & balloon for my special birthday. The games room is well kitted with playstation, etc but, & especially if you're taking youngsters needing a decent wifi connection, the property has NOT got fibre broadband. This is NO fault of the owners but fibre has not reached Bryn Derw. Wifi is slow & unreliable & can only support 1 user at a time. That said we had a great holiday but be aware that the last mile is up a narrow, steep, twisty road.

The house was absolutely fantastic. With the added bonus of the hosts offering the children the chance to get up close and feed the animals, which they loved. Every part of the holiday exceeded our expectations and we will be returning again soon.

Excellent facilities and very well equipped.

Owners were very nice and helpful. Very peaceful and lovely setting. Well thought out layout. Ideal for families as the games room is off at the end of the house so kids can be kids and not disturb the rest of the house party. Equally, parents can stay up late after the kids are asleep!

This is a lovely house in a remote location.

Ideal for a family or friends get together, it is one of the best furnished houses we have stayed in. We will definitely return here in the future and give it 10 out of 10. The view is superb and the hot tub a great added bonus. The resident Alpacas in the field were really funny! If we had some constructive feedback it would be that when the house is fully occupied, there could do with being a few more plates, more cutlery and perhaps a roasting tin to use in the fabulous oven!

The immaculate cottage gave us a huge surprise with its stylish and luxurious accommodation.

The veiws and local village was delightful and Bryn Derw is a definite return place to enjoy. With a car, places of interest are easily accessible so plenty to explore for all ages however if you wanted a restful holiday the cottage itself is a lovely place to just be. We went with ages 3 to 60 years of age and there was something for everyone. The house is large and there is plenty of room if you want time to yourself, the best house to date that I have stayed in. Thanks owners you have got it spot on.

An absolutely beautiful house in beautiful settings, the view from all around the rear of the house was gorgeous.

We celebrated New Year with family and had an amazing time, the house is decorated and equipped to a very high standard. Loved the Alpacas, very friendly guys, even loved the funny noises they made when they met our dog.

The owners of the property could not have been more welcoming and friendly.

Nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was superb in a wonderful location, clean and tidy and well equipped with new and up to date equipment. The hot tub was excellent and the icing on the cake for my wife and granddaughters was the alpacas that they were allowed to feed. The cottage itself was roomy and the bedrooms were well laid out and provided more than ample space for all the family. You will not fail too be impressed with all aspects of this cottage.

The property is extremely well maintained throughout and it’s an opus a lot of thought has gone into the place. Little extras like the Xmas trees all lit up and the basket of fresh produce on the table when we arrived were a lovely touch.

The cottage and the owners were fantastic - Sykes were not very understanding and inflexible when there was the chance I may have had to cancel dyear to personal circumstances.

The property is beautiful spacious and comfortable with the views around the property WOW!!. The owners of the property give you a lovely welcome and ensure you know how everything works and also advise on great days out to experience the most of the area. If you like exploring in the day and relaxing in the evening then this will suit you 100%. We will definitely be back

Outstanding holiday accommodation, our third time staying.

Beautiful scenery so peaceful relaxing in hot tub and watching Alpacas in field and view down the valley. Lots of attention and thought has been given by owners to make a memorable pleasurable stay, would highly recommend for either weekend or longer stay.

Our hoast was lovely.

You felt she was near by if you needed but not in your way. I would go back again in a heartbeat.

Spectacular, the cottage was of very high quality.

From the moment we walked through the door we could tell that everything was of a very high standard, from the fixtures and furnishings, and we were not disappointed. We were a mixed age range from 35 to 89, for the elderly in our party there was no need for them to negotiate the stairs as there were bedrooms and very well appointed bathroom all on the ground floor. The welcome hamper was an added bonus, and there was clearly a lot of thought put into it by the owners. There was no issue with the key collection, the owners were very accommodating, also apart from the bed linen change half way through our two week stay we did not see the owners at all. The views were are slice of heaven and we watched some stunning sun rises from the seating area within the garden. We will definitely return at some point to this spectacular cottage.

Should tell visitors the house is on 1 in 3 hill and not to follow sat nav instructions if traveling from the south ie A5 Thoroughly reccomended.

Facilities were top class and the host Delyth is so attentive. Second time we have stayed and we will book again, a real home away from home

The garden needs to be dog proof,little dogs at the moment can get out and with Alpaco,s in the field next to the garden it is difficult.

It would be lovely if a small grass area was made available for dogs to run around as many dogs do not like artificial grass which is in the garden The house was ideal for the dogs and we did have a lovely time but could not relax completely when the dogs were in the garden

We had a lovely holiday but the inaccuracy about being dog friendly led to two of our party having to go home earlier than intended.

The house was very dog friendly with floors that were easy to clean and a child gate sectioning the dining areas off, however, the outside area was astro turf and concrete and not fenced securely, dogs of all sizes could get through the gaps. Alpacas in the adjoining field were lovely to watch but wound the dogs up as they had to be kept on leads the whole time. We took the dogs up the very steep lane to exercise them with a view to going onto the public footpaths marked on the Ordnance Survey map. The paths nearest the house were fenced off. I suggest that dog owners are apprised of these issues before booking. We certainly weren't. We always had to drive to an appropriate exercise zone. We spoke with the owner who was aware of the situation. The house was lovely, comfortable and spacious and the hot tub very welcome after lots of exercise. The views very impressive. The welcome basket was very thoughtful. We had a mixed age range with us to celebrate my landmark birthday and the house was very suitable for all of them. The games room a real treat for wanna be teenagers.

Brilliant holiday.

The house is stunning.. the owners go that extra mile for your comfort. There alpaca in a field next to the property. And the kids fed them and we where lucky enough to see a baby being born. Would highly recommend.

Delth the owner went out of her way to attend to our needs, in supplying a sun umbrella and sun loungers this was much appreciated.

Maybe the supply of extra towels for the hot tub cold be considered. Or make it clear that towels are not supplied. Overall the cottage was spot on - well done.

The cottage is furnished and decorated beautifully with breathtaking views. The hot tub was perfect to relax in looking out over the hills. Bonus for meeting one of the owners who provided us with some food to feed the alpacas in the field next to the house! Delyth was great to speak to in arranging key collection etc. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice relaxing get away to visit Bryn Derw - we just wish our trip was longer!

Beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean, great hot tub, outstanding views of the countryside.

Great location having the mountains and the beach so close. I would definitely recommend the tal y cafn pub very dog friendly and amazing food. I cant recommend this cottage enough and I will be going back next year without a doubt!

Lovely house with lovely views across the valley.

We enjoyed seeing the alpacas in the field next to the house. The owner seemed really nice and when we asked for extra towels to use for the hot tub these were provided very quickly. We would definitely stay again!

This was our second visit to Bryn Derw and it was just as good as the first time!

Beautiful place in a beautiful location. Communication with the owner is great and the welcome package on arrival is just the icing on the cake! I could go on forever about how much we love this place but all il say is we’re looking forward to coming back again soon! Thank you for a great weekend!

We have stayed in a lot of holiday cottages, and to be honest most of them are very good, but Bryn Derw exceeded all our expectations.

The location is gorgeous, the facilities great, the house is immaculate, and more than big enough for 8 adults, and the hot tub is HOT! Even the weather was great, growing up in North Wales, I know how wild it can be, but Christmas here was lovely and fresh, we enjoyed daily walks with Sam our retriever, who loves the nearby lakes. We can't thank Delyth and David enough, the welcome hamper was just one way Bryn Derw beat all the other cottages we have stayed in. We wholeheartedly recommend Bryn Derw to anyone who has this on their "saved" list.... The Clarkes December 2017
