Listing stated enclosed patio.

It was not enclosed at all.Very long uneven walk to front door from car .Barbecue rusty and unusable.Furniture very old and not comfortable.Bedroom carpets dirty,bedding needs replacing.Steps in property not suitable for older generation.Overall property needs deep clean.Garden and location beautiful but shame about the house.

A very “quirky property”.

Fantastic setting, the garden with river and waterfall at the bottom was wonderful and definitely the selling point. It is within a good walking distance to the village which has some lovely walks. However, the property is in need of some tlc eg Kitchen floor tile was broken, carpet in one of the bedrooms had been mended with red tape and the quilt cover in one of the bedrooms was stained and even though both bedrooms have an en-suite they are not suitable for large people. A very expensive listing, definitely paying for the setting not the property.

We just love this property.

The owners and family are easily able to be contactable. The garden is Fabulous, i just love it and so do the dogs. So dog friendly qnd completely safe. This is our 4th time here and we would highly recommend it. Will definitely book again for next year . Yes you may share my review on your property listing.

Garden was amazing.

Cottage was lovely…. Needs a little tlc but didn’t spoil our break

Can Yr Afon ( the song of the river) is a beautiful cottage situated beside a lovely river at the base of hebog.

You can see the beddgelert steam railway station from the garden. The cottage itself is very clean and very spacious with all the amenities you will need. It has a large comfortable lounge area which is down three stairs from the kitchen and you have three stairs to get to the bedroom and the conservatory. It is not disabled/wheelchair accessible, because of the amount of steps, the bathroom/bath is not disabled friendly, and the long uneven path from the carparking area is not wheelchair friendly at all. But that being said we had a lovely relaxing week. A would recommend it to stay in the beautiful village of beddgelert.

Our second visit to Can Yr Afon and we were overjoyed to be back there.

The unique personality of the place is what we love the most - it is personal, intimate and friendly, the secret garden is out of this world, the setting by the rushing river and surrounded by mature plants is breathtaking. And we love the village of Beddgelert and the big walks we can do from there. Thank you very much to the owners and to the cleaners.

There are throws over all the seats and an extension lead for fire heaters, and the ones in the bedrooms are too close to the beds as I felt unsafe to use them.

Why there is no smoke alarm, no fire doors, no fire plan and no escape route if fire broke out while sleeping. The way up to the cottage was not safe for those who are disabled as you need to use a wheelbarrow to take your luggage there. My concerns are well founded.

From the first glimpse of this lovely quirky cottage i fell in love the garden and river amazing warmth and comfort top notch if your looking for sleek furnishing kitchen cupboards etc this isnt your idea of heaven but to me the quirkiness the love and feeling of belonging was perfect thankyou to the owners who were most helpful and friendly booked straightaway to return later this year book this lovely home you wont be disappointed

Arrived on 20/12/25 for a 7‑day stay.

There was no heating or hot water from 4pm until 8:45pm on the first day due to the property running out of fuel. The booking was for 3 adults, but only towels for 2 adults were provided for the week, even after informing the owner shortly after arrival. The bed linen appeared worn and had an unpleasant smell, and there were no mattress or pillow protectors for the first 3 days. There were no lights in the rear garden for the whole week, and the path lights only began working after 3 days. One of the bedroom windows did not open, and some areas of the property did not appear thoroughly cleaned. Based on my experience, I would not book this cottage again.

What a find!

A beautiful cottage with an incredible garden and riverfront. The cottage is homely and had everything we needed. Super efficient heating and a very well stocked kitchen. I’ve stayed in lots of cottages in the village. This is more rustic for sure but you won’t find another garden and river frontage like this one. We’ll certainly be staying again.

Our idea of heaven.

A cosy and well equipped cottage in absolutely breathtaking scenery. A big garden which our dogs loved and this runs along the river. Even though it's December, we were out there every day, watching and listening to it. The river lulled us to sleep every night and we woke up to it every morning. The beautiful cottage is very well placed, just a few minutes stroll to Beddgelert shops, but when you're in it you feel completely private. It had everything we needed and the staff in the shop (where you collect the key) were absolutely lovely. They were extremely helpful and gave us lots of tips for the area. They were also happy to be contacted if any issues arose (they didn't). We will definitely be going back, and a couple of our friends have already asked for the cottage details. We can't recommend it enough. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful ❤️

Been staying at this property for over 40 years now, due to its beautiful setting in Beddgelert.

I understand the difficulty the owner has with carrying out any work to the property due to its age but inside, there are no building restrictions. Same uncomfortable settees for over 40 years, mattress springs gone in bottom bedroom so extremely uncomfortable. Gardeners left huge piles of garden cuttings everywhere, including right in front of patio doors. Then they returned whilst we was there with no warning, cut parts of the lawn for some reason and disappeared leaving all the piles of cuttings again? I'm a gardener with over 30 years experience and fully understand the work I involved in garden maintenance, but these gardeners were nothing but lazy! Such a saddening to see such a property deteriorate over the years, but it doesn't hurt for the owner to buy a new mattress or comfy settees after 4 decades of use. Also a neighbour kept coming into garden and messing about with bins before disappearing again, but kept leaving the gates open when we have 2 dogs that could escape. The gardeners also did the same. Not much thought on how this affects you when you rent the place, having to be on edge everyday incase someone has left the gate open. Or if God forbid my dog was to bite the uninvited person. Disappointed!

This was the second time in this cottage and I've booked for next year as well .

Amazing idyllic cottage the grounds are something else ,don't think any other cottage will beat this

A delightful holiday in the perfect cottage - we adored the garden, as did our two dogs, and we swam in the river 5out of the 7 days at the bottom of the garden (last two days it had got a bit wild after some rain).

Cottage was comfortable though could have been cleaner and kitchen well equipped. Beautiful area to explore and then come back to our own private oasis!

The property is set in a wonderful garden located in a picture perfect village that probably couldn't be beaten.

The cottage could do with a bit of work done,but that in no way took anything away from the the holiday A really lovely time was had by all

This is the second time we have been to this property.

With a different time of the year The garden is amazing and has so many different treasures emerging as you walk around. Safe and enclosed, for the dogs . Lovely village, with us discovering a beautiful walk. The only down side we were only here for 6 nights.! The heating is controlled very easily by just turning up the radiators and constant hot water when required. This is the second time we have been here ,and will certainly come again

Enjoyed staying there, my 5th visit to Beddgelert, the second at Can yr Afon.

Love the garden and setting. Can only thank the owners for allowing a 3rd dog to stay at the property so my brother and his partner could join me for a few days, we all had a good time, it's not often we can get together.

The cottage is lovely in a beautiful situation right by the river and not right in the village centre.

It really does have a wonderful outlook. We would love to come back. However, the beds could do with mattress toppers, as they are quite hard. Bath sheets would be preferable to standard size bath towels.

This the second time we have stayed at this property, the last being 6 years ago !

!!! We have left it far to long. It is a lovely, quirky but very cosy cottage with a garden to die for.....not overly cultivated so giving the feeling that one is walking in the country.....don't change this. I shall certainly miss eating breakfast while overlooking the river. The property is well equipped with all one need for a holiday and is clean and comfortable.....you should be proud of it. We will be back next year.

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay , very comfortable and relaxing , though we went out on visits it is such a relaxing place to stay at lovely accommodation and the garden with the river running along the bottom listening the the river flow and nature of the birds singing and the owl , what is there not to like.

A SIMPLE PROPERTY BUT COMFORTABLE, HAD ALL WE NEEDED AND IT IS IN THE MOST IDYLLIC SETTING.

Can yr afon, is a fabulous place to stay.

The gardens are beautiful, with the view across the river. The area of beddgelert is lovely, and beyond to North Wales. So the home is perfectly positioned for plenty of sightseeing. I really hope to return in the summer months to make use of that fabulous garden. Thank you.

We loved Can Yr Afon - it is a very special place with a unique character and we felt right at home there.

The garden and river are of course both spectacular but we also loved the quirky nature of the house, all the paintings everywhere and the secluded nature of the place. It is wonderfully situated for walking straight from the house and also for proximity to village shops and pubs. It was thoughtfully stocked with everything we could have possibly needed. We would certainly love to return one day. Thank you very much to the owners.

An absolutely beautiful little place to say with lots of beautiful character.

The advertisement stated that there were ground floor bedroom and bathroom.

If that is the ground floor we should have been told that the entrance was not ground floor. We have used Sykes for many holidays, but this time we’re cheated of our annual holiday,and are extremely disappointed with the lack of interest from both Sykes and the owner.

All the home comforts and broadband too.

This property could be outstanding with some investment and upgrades Poor sofa and bed comfort have been mentioned many times so really disappointed to find no action taken as we booked almost a year in advance Deep clean would also be ideal Having said all of the above .

.the grounds were fantastic and we have never been to such a peaceful location. If you don't mind rustic then this could be a dream cottage for your stay Dog would have rated it 10+++ for the fabulous garden and river

Wonderfull stay, magical and unforgetable!

Beautiful gardens were the highlight, absolutely magical setting.

House fits the cottage in the woods vibe- rustic/shabby chic. Family of 4 and 2 dogs stayed for 4 nights. Well equipped kitchen. Having 3 toilets and 2 showers with plentiful hot water was useful. Could have stayed forever!

We loved the quirky cottage which, nevertheless, had everything we needed.

The garden was like a mini National Trust property with mature trees, lovely shrubs and a fast flowing river running at the bottom. We saw rabbits, a hedgehog and lots of birds. The dog was in her element. It was well placed for walking into the village, scenic local walks and the Welsh Highland Railway. There were only two of us although the cottage sleeps four and had that been the case, we might have needed more plates and bowls for breakfast. My only other reservation would be that if you were holidaying with small children, you would need to keep a watchful eye on them in the garden. We didn't and it was fabulous.

We had a lovely time, very relaxing but could do with comfortable settees, the grounds are lovely to wonder around with the dog who loved it, two rabbits visited now and again and a Robin popped into the conservatory to say hello, the river was quite deep so beware if you can’t swim

Beautiful quaint little place in a beautiful setting.

Very well set out and beautifully clean, we felt immediately at home. Showers lovely and hot and plenty of power, beds comfy and cottage warm. The whole place with the quirky layout, gardens and river is just magical. Everything you need for a really special stay.

A little home from home.

It has a slightly worn but overloved feel to it that immediately allowed us to relax. Everything was in good working order and the bed and bedding extremely comfy. The garden is a thing of beauty and we can't wait to see it again in September next year. For us both to want so immediately to return again says it all. The location is close to the centre of the village but feels very private and tucked out of the way.

No welcome basket that you get everywhere else or washing or dishwasher tablets for the appliances.

Place is nice in summer but would avoid in winter months due to how wet and muddy the property gets and trying to keep dogs clean. Fencing is not secure and our dogs got out.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely, enchanting cottage.

Everything we needed was there and Beddgelert is beautiful. I would highly recommend Can Yr Afon to anyone Absolutely stunning and quirky... We also found Sykes's booking system easy to use and will definitely be using it again.

This cottage is quirky but is exactly as described and was perfect for us and our dogs.

The location is amazing and the garden is stunning, I was concerned the cottage might not be warm enough but it was super toasty and exactly what we needed after a snowy walk, very cosy and plenty of hot water too. We will be returning in the winter again.

Loved the cottage reminds me of the fairy tale little red riding hood just needed smoke coming out the chimney.

The secure boundaries was safe for the dog and the little woodland was lovely just like living in a wood.

We fell in love with this place the minute we walked in.

The garden was so inviting for an explore. The water fall at the back was an amazing experience, although you must be very vigilant with the dogs, but we were warned about that any way. So knew what to expect. Perfect location for walking from the property and seeing the village . Good working Central heating and plenty of hot water with 2 showers and three toilets The kitchen could do with a bit of maintenance and perhaps a deep clean when the season has finished. Would definitely book and stay here again

If you want a very modern up to date holiday home then this one isn't for you.

BUT if you love quirky, comfortable accommodation with superb showers, easy settees, and a most fantastic garden then chose this one. We had a lovely stay here with our two dogs, last week and loved it. If we come to this area again we would certainly stay here.

Lovely little cottage.

There was the lack of a welcome pack or some basic essentials in the property however, lovely position. The river at the bottom of the garden can be fast running, I don't think that this was stressed enough in the description. Would recommend this cottage and this lovely location.

A quirky cottage in beautiful grounds with a fast flowing river running alongside.

The cottage which appears to be constructed of plywood with cement facia is now beginning to see its age. The kitchen is in real need of an upgrade mainly work top and cupboards. The sink tap often falls apart and water power runs dry. The main bathroom with shower is also in need of a revision and clean up and has a Faust smell to it. The main living room is ok spacious with wooden flooring and dining for 4 but the TV IS in real need of replacement and poor quality especially on those often raining days common to Snowdonia. In the corner of the main room is an entrance with dicy slopping steps to two double bedrooms. Yes they are small with left one much too small and really only suitable for kids. It has also a boxed in shower toilet unit which is only suitable for children unless your a size 10 adult. By way we found the shower in need of repair as it leaked onto the floor which we had to soak up after each use. Leading directly out of the main room you enter a small conservatory with small steps and shin into the back garden with chairs and tables. In good weather you can sit in comfort and eat and wine away the time in pleasant surroundings. The charge for the cottage does not match the quality provided to be honest coupled with many faults and poor quality furnishings. The number of steps in the cottage can be a bit dicy if your uncertain or elderly on your feet so can be annoying. It’s a nice location with on site parking and if good weather and your out and about eating and walking it’s ok.
