.. Unfortunately, the experience was soured by the checkout situation. We had agreed with the owner that to leave our belongings (bags and bicycles) at the cabin while we went walking under the promise our side that we would have the place ready for checkout. While we were walking we were contacted by the owner in an angry tone that he was unhappy and we needed to return to the cabin immediately. In the interest of fairness, we acknowledge that we got the checkout wrong, we did not remove the bed linen and leave it in the laundry area as requested. We did, however, take the rubbish out, wipe down the surfaces, clean the property and leave our belongings by the door. We have absolutely no issue accepting that we missed one part of the checkout requirements. Our issue was the way this was communicated to us. The level of hostility from both the staff and owner felt completely disproportionate to what had transpired and unfortunately left a sour taste over what had otherwise been a lovely stay. As paying guests, we were made to feel far less like guests and more like we were being evicted. The facilities themselves are good. For future guests, our advice would simply be to be very meticulous with the checkout requirementsand adhere strictly to these rules and you will be fine.

I'm absolutely gob smacked by the review you've left Jake. We messaged each other amicably, early on the Tuesday 11th to patch up any misunderstandings & move on! Even stated that you're all welcome back whenever suits. You initially messaged to say that 'we had prepared everything for check out' which strongly implies that everything had been left outside so the change over could smoothly happen by 11am. I responded by agreeing to that request, and to pls remove all belongings by latest 2.30pm. The Cleaner arrived @ approx 12 noon to discover all belongings were inside the property, no beds stripped and even a bicycle left in the lounge area. You could easily left all your gear at the rear of the property, which would have been out of site. Unfortunately that wasn't done and naturally it caused unnecessary stress from our side! We could easily have asked Sykes to charge you for a late check-out, but didn't. No rules in place, just guidelines and support to our many happy guests, which means a lot to us. Property Owner
