A beautiful property in agreat locationn.

.. Unfortunately, the experience was soured by the checkout situation. We had agreed with the owner that to leave our belongings (bags and bicycles) at the cabin while we went walking under the promise our side that we would have the place ready for checkout. While we were walking we were contacted by the owner in an angry tone that he was unhappy and we needed to return to the cabin immediately. In the interest of fairness, we acknowledge that we got the checkout wrong, we did not remove the bed linen and leave it in the laundry area as requested. We did, however, take the rubbish out, wipe down the surfaces, clean the property and leave our belongings by the door. We have absolutely no issue accepting that we missed one part of the checkout requirements. Our issue was the way this was communicated to us. The level of hostility from both the staff and owner felt completely disproportionate to what had transpired and unfortunately left a sour taste over what had otherwise been a lovely stay. As paying guests, we were made to feel far less like guests and more like we were being evicted. The facilities themselves are good. For future guests, our advice would simply be to be very meticulous with the checkout requirementsand adhere strictly to these rules and you will be fine.

We absolutely loved our stay in the cottage.

Modern bathrooms and facilities and very roomy both inside and outside. We had perfect evenings sitting outside or indoors and both the adults and kids really enjoyed our time there, and our dog was in heaven. We would absolutely stay here again.

We had a very enjoyable stay in this comfortable cottage and were blessed with fabulous weather.

We had our dog with us and there are lovely walks from the door up to a couple lakes through the woodland. The steam railway line runs through the woods and we saw the train a couple of times. The cottage is quite quirky with an unusual construction and is very well placed for touring the area, with plenty of choice of destination without having to travel too far. For us the only negative was the busy, noisy road about 150 metres away which meant that it was not as peaceful as we had expected.

A very comfortable cottage with an excellent level of cleanliness.

The shower is first rate, furniture comfortable and bed linen very high quality. The towels are plentiful, large and fluffy. Key collection is simple. We enjoyed the bird life in the garden even though it was a bit too chilly for us to sit outside for long.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone.

It is perfect in everyway and a privilege to have stayed there. Don't tell too many people though, because we would like to go again sometime!!!

Wow!

As soon as we saw the bluebell lined path leading to the cottage we were hooked. Inside did not disappoint either being both comfortable and characterful. Having use of the summer house overlooking the garden and the stunning view was the icing on the cake. As keen wildlife enthusiasts, the constant birdsong was a delight. We will definitely return.

If you’re looking for a place where you can park the car and leave it till it’s time to go home, this is the place.

You can turn left out of the property up the extremely quiet road for 20m then turn right and have the Plas Tan y Bwlch gardens (woodlands and lakes) as your exercise/playground/dog walking area for the whole week. Varied terrain. Beautiful views at the top. Not too busy (you can venture out for hours and maybe only see a couple of souls.) The view from the Garden House at the cottage was also great. Be prepared/excited for some low flying military aircraft at times.

Absolutely wonderful stay: We was a family of 4 with a dog.

The host was incredibly helpful with sending relevant and helpful information. The cottage itself is simply lovely – honestly, the pictures don’t do it justice! It is situated in a wonderfully remote and peaceful location, offering total tranquility and privacy. Despite feeling tucked away, it was actually very convenient, with shops and amenities close enough to be easily accessible. The location was also perfect for getting around and exploring the surrounding area and our dog loved it. We couldn't have asked for a better place to relax and unwind. Highly recommended! Thank you to the hosts for allowing us to stay.

there is no better place to take your dogs. The location, comfort and cleanliness of the cottage is all top notch.

What a fabulous little cottage.

From arriving to leaving we couldn't have asked for any better. If like us you are travelling with a four legged friend you can't fault this property. The garden is all enclosed and no way for them to escape. Turn left out of the driveway and head up the private road and you are straight onto a fantastic walk for dogs. A perfect stay within short distance of some amazing walks and great places to visit such as Porthmadog and pwllheli. The cottage itself is like a tardis. The views from the living room are unbelievable and with the log burner on in the evening it's so peaceful and relaxing. Honestly it was one of the best holidays that we have had and will 100 percent be booking again as soon as we can. 10 out of 10 if you find this property do yourself a favour and book it. You will not regret it.

Woodcutter's Cottage is the perfect get-away.

Set in the grounds of a great house, but certainly not overlooked. The cottage has everything you'd need to enjoy your stay. The view's are quite something. The garden is enclosed, which was great for our doggo, Tyson. There is plenty of parking available, up the gravel path. Picturesque walks front the front door are plenty. We enjoyed lunch in the Oakeley Arms where the staff were very friendly, and the short walk to get there takes you past a spectacular waterfall. We stayed in February, the cottage was chilly when we arrived in the dark but soon warmed up. However, the underfloor heating didn't appear to be working in the twin room where our clothes were stored. Nick was great. Answered any questions quickly. All in all we had the best week. I'm sure we will come again in the warmer months.

We had an amazing break over New year.

The cottage is comfortable & very cosy. We found it close to lots of walks, beaches & places if interest. Plenty to keep us occupied for a week without having to go far by car. Beautiful walks on your doorstep too. It was stunning in the snow & can’t wait to go back and experience in other seasons. Highly recommend

If you want cosiness, comfort and quirkiness then this is the cottage for you.

It is like the Tardis, much bigger inside than it looks. The character of the cottage is incredible with many original features. Well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. The location is perfect, with wonderful woodland walks straight from the door.Great for exploring all of North Wales. Lots of lovely beaches to explore. The garden is completely secure, even for my Springer Spaniels. I have already recommended it to friends.

Charming property full of character with good amenities.

A couple of things to improve, as winter is here it could do with the heating being sorted so you don't have to drag heaters around, the lighting for the steep footpath really should be working now the early dark nights are upon us. Finally a decent non stick frying pan would be good. That said, it's still a charming place we would come back to.

Having spent a week in the woodcutters cottage we found that the location is perfect for walking and exploring north Wales, the cottage is fantastic with all that you could want for a stay.

If you have a problem Nick the owner is very approachable and helpful on the end of a phone, good guy. Don't waist your time searching for a better cottage, get it booked NOW, you won't regret it.

Fantastic spot, especially if you love walking.

The walks from the door into the nearby woods were excellent and we could go for miles. Lovely views. Good location for beaches and great variety of shops nearby.

Vert comfortable cottage, nice and secluded with secure garden and lots of greenery and scenery.

Lovely to get the log burner going on a cool September weekend Great walks from the door, up to Llyn Mair and the Ffestiniog railway line were favourites. More than enough to do nearby for a long weekend, we needed more time. Harlech & Criccieth were lovely trips out. Hope to come back before too long.

Bwthyn y Coediwr is an absolutely stunning little property surrounded by beautiful scenery.

Very quiet so perfect for a relaxing getaway but you still have easy access to amenities and the pub which is a 5 minute walk away does lovely food and welcoming to families and well behaved pups. I went with my partner and his parents plus our dog and it was perfect for us. The in law's were able to get to Portmerion for the day while I was surrounded by stunning walks for dog and I. We are looking at returning next spring.

A very enjoyable 2 weeks spent at this well-equipped and comfortable property.

A couple of small issues (out of owner's control) were quickly dealt with - thank you Nick for your speedy help. Plenty of places to visit, sights to see and things to do, all within an hour's drive. Ruby (the pooch) thoroughly enjoyed her daily walks on the numerous paths/tracks above the cottage up to Llyn Mair, with the added bonus of coming across the Ffestiniog railway winding its way up to Tan y Bwlch station and beyond. we spent two wonderful weeks here 30th may to 13 june,this place is an absolute gem, great peaceful location, great views,and setting.

i would easily have spent a lot longer here,the towns and local attractions are all within easy reach. also if you have any problems (we did not) the owner nick is easy contacted.this is one of the best cottages i have stayed in,would not hesitate to go back loved it. david ann pat and the wee dog

Short secluded, peaceful few days away.

Just what the doctor ordered From the moment I woke up during the night looking at places to stay for a few days away until we arrived we were looking forward to this stay, a few days away, just the 2 of us and our Bailey, (German Shepherd). On arrival this place did not disappoint, it was truly magical. Words I put on this review cannot do it justice. From the comfort of the bed, sofa with smart tv to the fully loaded kitchen/ Diner. The surroundings and location was truly amazing, the views, peace & tranquility was awfully sublime. Our stay was 12-15 April and we could not have been luckier with the weather, we definitely made the most of it, bbqing several days even twice a day to sunbathing. Due to the heat with the dog we only ventured out once the sun had dropped with only one quick visit down the lane to the pub, the Oakley Arms. Since our return home I have recommended this cottage to many friends/ family through social media. We will definitely be returning without a shadow of doubt but will be for a longer stay next time. Should you ever come across this property The Woodcutters Cottage at Tan Y Bwlch on Sykes Cottages or any other site, please make sure you consider visiting for a stay, make a booking without hesitation. You will definitely be glad you did. This place cannot be missed. Lastly I must mention the host Nick, well, anything you need to know which isn't already in the instructions once booked, he is literally an email away and his response is 2nd to none. Lovely little cottage in a fantastic location.

So pretty with lots of lovely walking and spots to visit really close by. Lovely and private with a gorgeous garden to sit out with the dogs. We will definitely be coming again

Just had an excellent weekend away at the cottage, hidden away in woodland, it’s really relaxing.

Views are great from outside and inside the cottage as trees all around. Cottage very comfortable, would definitely recommend, hikes and wild swims close by, will definitely be returning!
