Excellent position in the town and very quiet and the gated parking was a bonus.

Lovely accomodation, safe and secure, easy parking.

Lovely to have tea towels, kitchen towel, washing up liquid, hand soap and multiple spare toilet rolls all provided. Great location for Porthmadog centre. Would highly recommend and will be returning!

This is a comfortable ground floor apartment for two or three people.

Although a sofa bed is available in the lounge to create space for a fourth, I think this would be a ‘stretch’. The apartment is well furnished – both beds are quite new and comfortable and there are good wardrobe and drawer options for storage. In the living area, the sofas and dining furniture are similarly quite new and of good quality. The bathroom is small but modern and well-equipped including bath and overhead shower. Lounge, dining area and kitchen all share one open-plan area. The Sky wi-fi was reliable and a large smart LG TV offers lots of apps. The kitchen has a good range of modern appliances and lots of useful equipment but there isn’t much cupboard space to store food beyond the fridge. We missed having a dishwasher – this could be accommodated by the owner with a better kitchen design next time round? I’m allergic to dogs and was pleased that the property including carpets seemed to have adequately cleaned on arrival. Nonetheless, where a property like this is dog-friendly I’d prefer to see a specialised cat/dog vacuum with HEPA filters being used rather than a standard Henry. The apartment is well located – central but off the main road, quiet with private parking and a small outdoor seating spot. Porthmadog itself is a welcoming place with good shops including three large supermarkets. We found it a good base to explore the Llyn peninsula – castles, coastal walks, great beaches…and lots of scenic railway options. As first time visitors to the area, the local information provided by the owner in the house file was much appreciated. We will definitely return.

Best let we have had in Portmadog we go twice a year and would love to go again It’s pre booked in sept when we wanted to go again but will try again next year.

We had a great few days in Taliesin in some lovely weather.

The property is just as described, very comfortable and had all that we needed, with a little seating area outside. The owner was very helpful and gave some good recommendations of places to eat. We enjoyed some superb fish and chips from Chippy Dre, a short drive away. Lots of good walks nearby. Can recommend the walk from the cottage to Criccieth along the coastal path and the beach, then we got the train back. A lovely stay, Thankyou

A lovely stay a warm, comfortable apartment conveniently located just of the High Street.

From start to finish with communication from the owner was fantastic.

The accommodation was clean and beautiful, and lots of utilities provided. Private parking and close to all local amenities, it was a great place to stay would recommend to anyone. 5*

A lovely clean,warm property tucked away and yet a stones throw from the main street.

The owner, Iain responds promptly to any queries and is anxious for his guests to have a good stay. There is a good selection of kitchen equipment including weighing scales and rolling pin which I haven't come across in other properties I've stayed at. I often bring my own as I enjoy cooking and baking. I won't need to the next time we stay here which hopefully will be in January.

Convenient access to many sites in the area and it was lovely to also be able to walk to all the amenities located in Porthmadog. A very comfortable and clean flat. Iain was very responsive to any queries we had. Thank you for the lovely stay!

Has a fantastic power shower. Everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Slight nitpick, we like to have a cooked breakfast and frying pan, which looked quite new wasn’t non stick, which wasn’t great for fried eggs. Will definitely be back!

Perfect little apartment in a perfect location for me and the dog.

Shops, train station bus stop within walking distance . Home from Home - well equipped in the kitchen. Would definitely stay again, felt nice and private with own private parking space through a gated area. Had an issue with the TV but this was resolved in an instant over text with the owner.

Great accommodation, clean and tidy, and well equipped!

Great location with great nearby links to places...and a great base to go to different places if driving. The accommodation was very warm and cosy, and everything you could need. Train station is close by, as are supermarkets, pubs and restaurants, all at walking distance, or short drive. Accommodation Information folder, was well done and very helpful, and explained lots in making our stay better, answering many questions we may have had, but Owner did text me to also say, he was easily contactable if we needed anything. We will definitely go back to Taliesin without hesitation when going back to Wales! Many beautiful places to visit, and some of the best scenic driving I've done. My only comment would be (but wouldn't stop me from returning to Taliesin, and probably applies to many places), is that I feel it's too late check-in (4:30pm), as most of the day is gone, once unpacked, but more so, a too early a check-out (10am), especially as bed linen is requested to be striped and rubbish put out, so it's then an early alarm call whilst also trying to have breakfast, shower, get ready for the day ahead, and pack. We felt 10am Check-out, to 4:30pm, to the next Check-In (6.5hrs) is a long turnaround time in our view, and our weekend would have felt more relaxed and less stressed when leaving, if check-out was an hour or two later. All said and done, we absolutely loved staying there and will definitely return, as location had many fantastic Castles, Scenic driving, Historical places, Beaches and much more, nearby or at a reasonable drive away.

We stayed in January and the property was as warm as toast and we hardly had to use the heating .

Private parking was a bonus right in town . Everything in there is good quality and the place was spotless.

An amazing place to stay.

We normally drive everywhere so it was great tonfind a central location that still feels quiet and secluded, so we could have a few glasses of wine and not worry about driving home from the bar or restaurant. The gated complex also felt secure because while not 100% secure, it was enough to stop people wandering past and kids accumulating. Given this was a ground floor room that was important. Evèyhtbing was clean and tidy and well equipped with everything you would want.

A well equipped and comfy ground floor apartment in a great central location in Porthmadog.

The only real gripes are that the oven didn't work and wasn't replaced until the day we left and the hard corners of the bed with not much room for manoevre caused a few shin bruises. Apart from that though we enjoyed our stay and would be more than happy to use this property again.

Couldn’t fault it!

Clean property in good central location for exploring the area and beaches.

Good local shops and pubs. Downsides were towels so old they were only fit for cleaning up rather than as bath towels, we were able to use a washing machine but didn't work as a dryer and a convoluted process to switch it on which includes reaching into a difficult place under the sink to turn on the water. Felt it was expensive, clearly paying for the location. No welcome milk or bread etc in the kitchen which we are used to from other properties when paying much less than this one!

Very pleased with the accommodation.

On the harbour and within a couple of minutes walk to the local shops. There was everything you needed in the kitchen which was well stocked and very much a home from home. We found some lovely walks just past the yacht club to a stunning bay at Borth-y-gest. And if you take the higher road up the steps opposite the yacht club you will be rewarded with a panoramic view..

A delightful place to stay in Porthmadog and having parking an added bonus.

It is a warm and comfortable apartment, well equipped for three. Porthmadog is a great base to explore the surrounding area with good public transport links and right on the Wales coast path. There are many places to eat and drink. All in all a superb property.

Well situated within a quiet, well ordered complex the apartment was clean and provided everything we needed,There was easy access to the local facilities but it was very quiet and restful.

The cottage is in an excellent location in the village and we really like Porthmadog.

The cottage was clean, warm and reasonably well equipped. The beds were wonderfully comfy and the sofas were fine too. The allocated parking spot was a bonus. We like to go out cycling for the day and then cook our own meals in the evenings, but we just found that there was hardly any cupboard space for our own food and very little work surface available on which to prepare meals. If we had been eating out more often it wouldn't have been such a problem for us. Our only criticism was the inadequacy of the shower, or mostly the fact that the shower head was so low on the wall. With two of our group being over 6ft tall they had to bend almost double to get under the shower and it just wasn't practical or comfortable. So Taliesin provides quite acceptable accommodation for shorter people who like to eat out, and the price in the week before Easter made it excellent value, but I'd have to say that it wasn't ideal for us. Well located with all the facilities you would expect.

Parking on site was a godsend as free parking in Porthmadog is hard to find. Would use again if staying in the area.

We had a very enjoyable stay in Taliesin, lovely ground floor apartment with gated private parking.

The position was absolutely perfect for us with the Harbour and Heritage Railway Station almost on the doorstep. It provided everything we needed and I would thoroughly recommend it. Shops and restaurants are so close at hand and we only used the car once as we could walk or get buses to many places. A visit to Portmeirion was one of our highlights it is simply magical. I hope to return to Taliesin in the future.

Perfect location for us. We even got a bit of sun we ordered. The only drawback for us was the outside space, a bit more Private space would have been ideal! However, really enjoyed everything about the apartment. Would recommend.

It is clean and homey. The kitchen is well-equip from electrics to cutlery. There are ton of books you can choice from and puzzles as well, perfect for staycation. The property is also close to restaurants and shops. Definitely recommend! The owner, Iain, is very responsive and considerate

We stayed just 2 nights off season, for which we paid £317, and felt that overall this did not represent good value for money.

Very cosy holiday property.

It was warm and the beds were comfortable. It is just a few steps to the high street but it's also tucked away and quiet with security gates to enter the small complex. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

The apartment was first class along with the facilities … local shops and mountain railway all within 5 mins walk… various supermarkets within 5mins drive… secure gated parking for one car … the owner was really helpful in every way and we couldn’t have asked for more… we will definitely go back in the future it’s a great base for exploring snowdonia and surrounding areas…

Stayed recently at Taliesin.

The apartment was well equipped, and cosy, despite the cold weather. Just off the high Street, everything was within walking distance, perfect for anyone with mobility issues. Perfect base for exploring the wonderful snowy mountain scenery at this time of year. Would recommend local purple moose brewery pub, the Australia. We had a great stay, many thanks.

We had a lovely time at Taliesin.

The apartment had every thing you needed and more. The weather was amazing to hot really. The only thing I missed was a garden especially as the weather was so hot. Of course we knew before booking and it takes nothing away from the appartment.

It was in a very convenient and pleasant location in the town, only a couple of minutes walk to the narrow gauge railway station.

Liked the parking behind locked gates. It was very comfortable and well equipped. We had an enjoyable stay. The only issue was the weight of the venetian blind at the patio doors. It was very heavy to pull up, my wife couldn't, and I found it a bit of a pull. I would suggest that it is changed to either a aluminium or plastic one or a vertical louvre blind. That would make it easier to use the patio doors in warm weather, which we had and enjoyed.

Addition of a dish washer would make this property perfect.

Loved Taliesin, in fact we loved it so much we booked another week later in the year before this holiday was over.

The property is smart, clean and has great modern feel to a very traditional building. The owner, Iain, was brilliant, even helped us find/supplied our own copies of some of the pictures in the flat. We're regular visitors to Porthmadog and I dare this will be our regular base for the future, for as long as they'll have us :-)

We really enjoyed staying here, right near the harbour and cafes pubs etc, which was good for us as we weren’t too mobile.

Unfortunately I had a fractured wrist and ankle, and my partners back wasn't too good either, but we decided to go ahead with the holiday. It was very helpful to me that the bath and shower had handgrips. although the showerscreen seemed to be in an awkward place if you just wanted to run a bath you had to lean round it which was difficult, or move it. The shower was good. We found the sprung doors in the apartment a bit annoying as they had to be kept open with doorstops, or they kept closing. The bedrooms could have done with thicker curtains to keep the light out. The patio doors in the lounge could have done with vertical blinds, as the horizontal blinds were a bit heavy to pull up, and when you opened the doors, if you are tall you hit your head on them as you stepped onto the patio. we had some good weather and were able to sit out on the patio which was nice with the view toward the harbour. The apartment was really well equipped, and we felt very much at home, and the bed was comfortable, but not too soft. The sofas were comfortable. The apartment was wide enough for wheelchair access. It was good to have sky and netflix. Despite the niggly things mentioned above, we loved the location, and we hope to visit again when we are both more mobile, so we can do walks, and visit other places in the area, and do train trips etc. We would recommend staying here.

Accomadation as described just found Portmadog tired and dated, the weather didn't help but there are much better places to spend a long weekend.

Having a parking space is extremely helpful. One suggestion for improvement: the tea towels provided smelt musty and the oven gloves were dirty on arrival.

Was absolutely spotless and everything you needed very quiet too in all a very relaxing holiday with everything on the door step.

Had toilet roll and all cleaning products including washing up liquid and kitchen roll and tea and coffee. Petrol station opposite with small shop, Tesco in the town and Aldi and Lidl. Asda in Pwhelli a few miles away. Blackrock sands a must where you pay £5 to drive onto the beach with toilets and life guard and an ice cream van on beach. Chip shop on the road into beach and a small spar on beach road. Loads of holiday brochures in Apartment with days out etc.

The property is in a very convenient area, close to the harbour and shops.

Lovely sandy beach a couple of miles away. Lovely coastal walks. Really enjoyed our stay.

We had the most fantastic weekend at Taliesin.

The apartment had everything and more than we needed and was extremely comfortable & clean. We could not believe the location. It is right in the middle of everything yet extremely quiet. It was perfect. There is so much to do & see, plenty of places to eat & drink and the locals were very friendly too. The coastal walk is a must. We will definitely be back.

It's quiet, extremely clean,.

Has everything you need there in the house. Everything is comfortable and inviting. Perfect location and very quiet. It has gated parking area so know your car is safe. Just around the corner from the ffestiniog railway and ask The Port which do good breakfasts, amazing meat pies and huge lemon meringue pies. Accomodations is modern and we'll maintained.

The cleaning could have been better especially in the bathroom other than that this is a lovely apartment and we won't hesitate to stay here again.

The property is well appointed, clean and comfortable with excellent facilities including sky tv.

The location is great for shops, restaurants, harbour and the Ffestiniog Railway. We had a lovely week and would like to return there again.

The apartment was excellently furnished, but we had trouble with the bathroom door, when closed shut it would not open due to the handle not retracting the tongue back far enough to clear the door frame trapping anyone inside, this happened to my wife once but with a little jiggering of the handle managed to free her !

The weather was better than everywhere else. The apartment is so quiet and private it is a great base for Snowdonia.

cleaning inside looked OK when we first walked in but washhand basin was slow to empty .

but on lifting out the outlet this outlet it was filthy dirty also skirting boards needed cleaning

Spent a lovely week at the Taliesin apartment.

Fabulous accomodation equipped with everything we could possibly need for a relaxing break. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Great location in the harbour, minutes away from the steam railway and everything that Porthmadog has to offer. Convenient location for exploring the stunning scenery around Snowdonia. A visit to nearby Portmeirion and Beddgelert are a must. This was our 3rd Sykes holiday and we have now booked a 4th for later in the year.

Bonus having Sky tv and that the owner has addressed lack of freezer and curtains requested by previous people. Good private parking space. Limited harbour view but we knew as been visiting Porthmadog for many years. This apartment probably has one of the better harbour views. Only very minor criticism no shaver point in a relatively modern apartment but this was no big deal. Many thanks for an excellent week away. Mr & Mrs Rich - Derby

Although we know Porthmadog well, we had only been there for day trips.

Accommodation was wonderful, off road parking a bonus. Close to all shops with view of harbour area. Great walks over to Borth-y-Gest and Blackrock sands. A lovely short break. We will definitely be back for another short break.

the hot water system left a lot to be desired bath and shower tem was intermittent

It's in a lovely location, right by the harbour and near to shops/pubs/cafes etc. The on-site parking is very handy as I suspect it might be an issue to find a parking space in the town otherwise. Would recommend Taliesin to anyone looking for a base in Porthmadog. The only issue we had was that both bedroom windows are next to street lights outside and as the windows only have venetian blinds, the bedrooms were very light throughout the night, so we didn't get as much sleep as we would have liked.

Great location for getting out and about each day. We really enjoyed ate stay and we would definitely visit this location again . Highly recommended this location.

We were disappointed that we could not see the harbour.

However the cottage was ideal for a walking base with good public service connections by road and rail. Local amenities, shops, cafes and restaurants were plentiful. The information brochure was excellent.

The apartments location was great as it’s in the centre of Portmadog, within walking distance to shops, cafes, train, museum and park and even has a view of the port.

The apartment was well presented and fully met our requirements.

Great holiday flat in the heart of Porthmadog and only a stone’s throw from the harbour and Ffestiniog railway terminus.

Everywhere is really walkable including Portmellon which is worth a days visit. The flat was comfortable and had all the amenities required which also included a washing machine. It has a double and single bedroom and the lounge area does have a bed settee too but was not required for our stay. All in all a good weeks holiday

The apartment was very nice, everything we needed - we unpacked the car and moved in, settled in 30 mins.

.. so easy. Plenty of teatowels and ( a nice surprise) a separate handtowel for the kitchen We managed to keep the apartment to a reasonable temperature despite the exceptionally hot weather. Comfy bed, plenty of hot water, good shower and large bathroom. Nicely furnished. One thing that would be nice is a feedback folder in the apartment. We have used these in the past at other properties to share the holiday experience. Situated near the harbour station, this was a great base for steam trains to Caernavon and Blaenau Ffestiniog. We parked the car ( nice to have dedicated parking space off street), used the coastal rail line to Tywyn ( for the Talyllyn steam trains and Dolgoch falls), used the bus and train for Pwllheli, the bus for Criccieth ( great views, dolphins and excellent morning tea at Tir Mor). Easy walking distance to the library, the swimming pool, Cob, around Llyn Bach, Moel-y-Gest, or just to Borth-y-Gest ( and the great Sea View cafe). We loved having such a great bakery ( Big Rock) and a real greengrocer (Pritchard's). Portmadog still has a real High Street and plenty of bus stops for exploring the area. We said that Sykes met our expectations rather than exceeded -- that's because the firm is so reliable and the standards are so high, we have never been disappointed. Liz and Ron

There is now a small freezer in the apartment.

You can now keep your frozen food and have ice-cubes. The apartment is lovely and we really enjoy staying in it. We have booked again and will probably book for next year.

.. The only thing missing is a freezer. Not even a freezer compartment in the fridge. We went self catering and couldn't buy any frozen food or ice. Apart from that it was absolutely perfect!

We were very surprised to find that the refrigerator did not have a freezer compartment, bit of an issue as we bought along, as we usually do, several frozen ready meals for use during the holiday.

I have never encountered a modern fridge without a freezer compartment. Also confused by having two keysafes, surprisingly the one by the main door was not the one in use, however these were minor issues and overall the property was excellent, particularly the parking.

We had a very comfortable stay at Taliesin which is a modern well-appointed apartment.

It is very well-placed for the town and the heritage railway station. With the weather shining on us it was a splendid trip.

Access to get to the key safe was extremely difficult as there was a tall step to negotiate.

Equipment was fine except the tin opener was unworkable.. had to enlist the help of a local. Otherwise a lovely apartment

Great for our dog. The range of maps and leaflets were very useful and the wifi worked well. We could not fault this accommodation as it suited our needs perfectly!

Chose the location as a base for a photography weekend.

Good central location for Snowdonia but was able to find photo opportunities at the end of the south entrance to the car park.

the only thing was the fan in the bathroom was not working so needs attention from you to be fixed asap,apart from this we could not fault this holiday home we will be booking this again could not fault anything else.

Property ideal for less able visitors, (ground floor, grab handles fir bath/shower)

Perfect location and great apartment.

1) An Inventory would have helped - we were not sure if anything was missing when we arrived!

We couldn't find a hairdryer, for example. 2) A guest comment folder would be useful - especially helpful for commenting on local eateries, shops and attractions that were found good value for the next and subsequent visitors to read, I would suggest? 3) The gate remote (supplied) seemed to be stuck together with sellotape and seemed a bit hit-and-miss working, sometimes. Could a newer one be supplied, perhaps? 4) The wooden 'chopping board' supplied was badly warped - plastic ones for different fish/meat etc might be more stable and hygienic?
