“The property was ideal for us quiet with beautiful views and very well equipped.”

Mrs Jones was very friendly and helpful. The cats and the hot tub were a real hit with our grandchildren. Only minutes away from some beautiful beaches and 30 minutes away from Zip Worlds activity centres.

“Anwen went to great trouble to tell us all about the barn and explain how everything operated.”

Even though we brought three cars, she was very accommodating to ensure that we could all park conveniently. The views from the lounge, garden and two of the bedrooms are absolutely stunning and the property is located in the most beautiful countryside. Although the local lanes are narrow there is little traffic and Abergele is only a few minutes drive. We would love to return to Ysgubor.

The location was idyllic and it was very peaceful. The barn was with stocked everything you would need for a self catering stay. We also really enjoyed the hot tub. The only downside was the living room furniture wasn't very comfortable and could do with an upgrade. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and we would rebook.

“Had a lovely stay at a very picturesque cottage with amazing views, had everything we needed, didn’t do much cooking though as four adults we went out for late afternoon lunches, the hit tub was brilliant, when we got back from a long walk it was so relaxing.”

Plenty of kitchen equipment and lovely clean comfortable beds, all spotless, bathrooms great shower great, warm and cosy , only one little downside and it is a very little one, the lounge furniture was a but uncomfortable and needed updating , the lady and her husband was really nice and helpful, and the two pussy cats so cute especially but boy, he used to come and sit in the garden with us. Thank you again for making our perfect .

“The views were lovely looking over the fields and we got to see cows often, which were very cute.”

Hot tub was lovely to use on the first night. Then told the second night couldn’t use it because of upcoming storm (did not come) Doors were pretty creaky all night but that may be due to it only being single glazed barn as there was a draft from the closed window. The WiFi was non existent and signal was also non existent so couldn’t really connect up to watch tv or anything other than the standard channels,

So sorry about the hot tub but it is, safety with 80 mph forecast. The fibre lines were down due to the very high winds on the morning before customers arrival which we informed all our customers and emergency services were available during the storm. At all times our customer safety is most important and hot tubs not to be used in gales and thunderstorms. We rather be safe than sorry. Sorry on this occasion on a weekend stay that the extreeme high winds were really at their strongest at night and everything flying around outside while we were all asleep. But we were all a safe in the morning when everything was much calmer- Thank goodness and brighter sunny days followed the rare extreeme weather conditions in North Wales during Summer holidays. “Really enjoyable stay, peaceful location with great views from the garden.”

Loved the hot tub too. The property is slightly dated decor wise but is spacious, well equipped and the owner is attentive and keen to provide anything needed. The kids found the wi-fi to be a little hit and miss but I didn’t have a problem, we were also streaming on the smart TV every evening. Overall it’s a great property in a stunning part of the world. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

“The couple are extremely lovely and helpful.”

Very knowledgable of the area and we’re great at giving you ideas of what to do. Communication with them was great. You didn’t know you was staying on a farm only the fact you got up in the morning to cows mooing, usually farms smell but this wasn’t the case. The barn conversion itself is lovely. All open planned downstairs, upstairs again very spacious. The only negative feed back I would have to say is the furniture of the property is very old fashioned and really needs updating to give the over finish a great quality. The sofa is very very uncomfortable.The beds need replacing. Also I would change the bed size upstairs to king size Like downstairs as there’s plenty of room to do so. The views from the upstairs main room was lovely to wake up to everyday which we will miss. Overall really enjoyable stay and was sad to leave.

“In general, we enjoyed the stay.”

Bedrooms were excellent and the hot tub was appreciated. The major cricism was the extremely uncomfortable seating in the lounge area. The two chairs had seen better days and the sofa was quite uncomfortable - very hard seating. Six people would have been very uncomfartable. Although the kitchen was adequate there are problems with an aging cooker - symbols are badly worn, making electric rings difficult to recognise. Local information and tourist leaflets need updating. Directions to cottage could be made much clearer.

“Just come home after a lovely six nights here with my daughter.”

We had a really lovely stay despite the weather not being the greatest. We had slow mornings reading or watching a dvd and then went out exploring for the day. The kitchen had everything we needed and was extremely well kitted out. Love the large fridge freezer! Having a bathroom each was lovely too. The beds were very firm and we aren’t used to this so both found them a little uncomfortable. Perhaps a mattress topper would be nice? The sofa was also a little uncomfortable, but the chairs were fine. There is a single track road and only on two occasions did we meet another vehicle. Due to the high rainfall it was a bit tricky finding an adequate place to pull over but we managed. The hot tub was amazing! As were the friendly cats. Would love to come back again.

The settees were out dated with throwover on them the baking trays and pots had seen better days all the bedding smelt musty the hot tub was dirty with no cleaning agents in it all the paving in the back was uneven where my parner fell and broke 3 ribs this was supposed to have been a relaxing week we home on the Monday

“Although we had what we needed for the weeks' stay, a few things were not as expected.”

The road leading to the property is a single track, very bumpy with overgrown hedges for a couple of miles. So this property won't be for you if you have a large car, unless you mind a few scratches. The property was average, a few broken bits when we arrived, blinds not shutting properly, towel rails and door handles hanging off. Sofa not comfortable, we were out most days to be fair, but the last day decided to chill, the wifi is non existent. The bonus was the hot tub though.

The location is fairly remote and very beautiful - the view from the terrace and the upstairs double bedroom is quite gorgeous, You do have to drive down narrow, winding, hilly, single-track lanes to reach it, but we got used to that. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. Only negative is that dogs aren't allowed, meaning that the whole family couldn't stay. We would stay here again if we were returning to the area.

The house was extremely clean and well-equipped right down to extra games for the children. The house was warm and the hot pool wonderful! No complaints on that score at all. One suggestion of better information on finding the property itself. Given that I had the owners mobile number I was unperturbed when we got lost -until I discovered we had no mobile signal. However, the local Post Office soon put us on the right track. Would definitely recommend this property and would be happy to return.

From before we got there Anwen text us directions of how to find the cottage that were excellent, as I wouldn’t have stood a chance without them. The cottage was ideally located for visiting local attractions and the scenery breath taking. My wife and kids enjoyed the hot tub. The only small criticism if you could call it that was the sofa was very hard so you couldn’t relax, the chair next to the sofa was fine so I sat there, but we were out 90% of the time so only a little moan. Amenities in the cottage were great. I would highly recommend the cottage.

“Although the glorious weather was a fabulous bonus we could not fault Ysgubor Barn, we were met at the door by Anwen the owner who showed us around the cottage and its superb facilities.”

Anwen gave us lots of information about the local area and things to do further afield. We are a family of five my wife and I, our daughter and partner and our four year old grandson, the cottage met our needs perfectly with a ground floor bedroom and bathroom for the old folks and the younger ones upstairs in two bedrooms with a shared bathroom. The cottage is on a working farm in the middle of nowhere, the only noise came from the farm animals and the occasional tractor. That said it is only a five minute drive to Abergele with a good selection of shops and a large Tesco, fifteen to twenty minutes takes you Colwyn Bay with its super beaches. In thirty minutes you can be in the beautiful Victorian seaside town of Llandudno or Conway with its thirteenth century castle and Thomas Telford bridge. All in all this cottage has it all and we would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful break but with lots of attractions close by.

“We really enjoyed staying in this well equipped, cosy holiday cottage.”

In particular, we looked forward to relaxing in the hot tub after I day out exploring. The three bedrooms were all roomy and comfortable with fabulous views over the farm, countryside and snow mountains in the background. A remote but at the same time central location for exploring north wales; just half hour drive from Llandudno and beautiful Conwy. There was two large shower rooms with powerful hot showers. The open plan lounge/ diner was perfect for our family of 5 to relax in and spend time together in the evening. We had a really lovely three day break and thank Anwen for her kind hospitality.

Not very far to go if you wanted entertainment or nightlife. There was a slight problem with the internet and wifi connections but we were in the Welsh hills and not being funny but it's a holiday. “The warm welcome given by the owner; she was keen to assure us that we could go to her with any problems, which was very reassuring, but everything was perfect for our 'switch off' break.”

The hot tub was superb and we used it every night. When we returned home and I found I'd left my jacket (with mobile scooter key in the pocket), the owner kindly posted it to me, refusing payment. It's very apparent that customer satisfaction is top of the list here and we hope to return.

The property

Ysgubor is the larger of the two semi-detached cottages and is suitable for six people.

There are three lovely bedrooms, comprising a king-size double, a double and twin room, with the benefits of a ground floor bedroom and shower room for the less mobile if required, as well as a first floor family bathroom.

The living space is bright, airy and open plan with a fitted kitchen and comfy corner seat sofa in the sitting area with a welcoming dining area and patio doors that open onto the enclosed patio.

The property is on a small holding.

This space offers a lovely sun trap to sit and relax enjoying the country views over pastureland before hopping in the hot tub for a relaxing soak.

Tyn Y Caeau Uchaf Cottages

Betws yn Rhos, 1.6 miles. These pretty semi-detached cottages are set in beautiful north Welsh countryside on the owner's working cattle and sheep farm near the village of Betws yn Rhos. Offering welcoming, open plan living accommodation the cottages are ideal for those looking to get away from it all in a lovely peaceful country environment, but with fantastic, exciting days out within easy reach. Both cottages have their own patio with a hot tub which is a fantastic place to relax after a day spent exploring the area. Due to their rural location, you can enjoy evenings star gazing and if you are lucky you may see the passing International Space Station which is frequently observed in its orbit above the cottage. There is an abundance of wildlife in the area. Nearby Betws yn Rhos is a peaceful village with all the local amenities you could need including a shop and a friendly village pub. These cottages are in an ideal location for visiting popular North Wales coastal villages and towns including Colwyn Bay, Llandudno and Abergele. Betws yn Rhos is a peaceful Welsh village with a local village shop, Post Office and friendly village pub which offers quality dining, real ales, games room and dog-friendly beer garden. The Silver Birch golf course is a welcoming Pay and Play 18-hole course, which is also home to the first 18-hole Footgolf in Wales, suitable for all ages and skills. Within 4 miles you will find the sandy beaches and coastal path leading from Colwyn Bay, through Llanddulas and into Abergele, which is a pleasant seaside town on the lovely North Wales coastline and is ideally positioned between the stunning Vale of Clwyd and the lovely Conwy Valley. Renowned for the impressive Gwrych Castle which overlooks the town and its enormous sandy beach, the whole area offers safe bathing waters and excellent watersports facilities. There is also a coastal cycle path which runs along the Abergele seafront, and for walking enthusiasts, the Offa's Dyke pathway, the Clwydian Hill Range and beautiful Betws-y-Coed known as the "gateway to Snowdonia" with Zip World and Surf Snowdonia all within easy travelling distance. The beautiful castles of Rhuddlan, Bodelwyddan, Conwy and Caernarfon are not to be missed, and the delightful Victorian town of Llandudno, offering quality shops, restaurants, a fantastic dry ski slope and exciting cable car rides over the Great Orme is nearby. There is plenty to do in this wonderful region at any time of the year!
