Ysgubor - Barn

Anwen went to great trouble to tell us all about the barn and explain how everything operated.

Even though we brought three cars, she was very accommodating to ensure that we could all park conveniently. The views from the lounge, garden and two of the bedrooms are absolutely stunning and the property is located in the most beautiful countryside. Although the local lanes are narrow there is little traffic and Abergele is only a few minutes drive. We would love to return to Ysgubor.

We had a lovely stay at Ysgubor Barn.

The location was idyllic and it was very peaceful. The barn was with stocked everything you would need for a self catering stay. We also really enjoyed the hot tub. The only downside was the living room furniture wasn't very comfortable and could do with an upgrade. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and we would rebook.

Had a lovely stay at a very picturesque cottage with amazing views, had everything we needed, didn’t do much cooking though as four adults we went out for late afternoon lunches, the hit tub was brilliant, when we got back from a long walk it was so relaxing.

Plenty of kitchen equipment and lovely clean comfortable beds, all spotless, bathrooms great shower great, warm and cosy , only one little downside and it is a very little one, the lounge furniture was a but uncomfortable and needed updating , the lady and her husband was really nice and helpful, and the two pussy cats so cute especially but boy, he used to come and sit in the garden with us. Thank you again for making our perfect .

The views were lovely looking over the fields and we got to see cows often, which were very cute.

Hot tub was lovely to use on the first night. Then told the second night couldn’t use it because of upcoming storm (did not come) Doors were pretty creaky all night but that may be due to it only being single glazed barn as there was a draft from the closed window. The WiFi was non existent and signal was also non existent so couldn’t really connect up to watch tv or anything other than the standard channels,

Really enjoyable stay, peaceful location with great views from the garden.

Loved the hot tub too. The property is slightly dated decor wise but is spacious, well equipped and the owner is attentive and keen to provide anything needed. The kids found the wi-fi to be a little hit and miss but I didn’t have a problem, we were also streaming on the smart TV every evening. Overall it’s a great property in a stunning part of the world. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Lovely area and views.

House was clean and tidy and very comfortable. Hot tub was brilliant. We had a nice relaxing weekend celebrating a birthday. Host was nice and friendly and very helpful. Would defo book again 100%.

Great property.

Well equipped. Slightly dated but makes up for it with cosiness and comfort. Anwen is lovely and so friendly and helpful. Great for families with children as safe enclosed garden, safety gate on stairs and window safety catches on all windows.

We've been here for two summers and absolutely love this place!

The couple are extremely lovely and helpful.

Very knowledgable of the area and we’re great at giving you ideas of what to do. Communication with them was great. You didn’t know you was staying on a farm only the fact you got up in the morning to cows mooing, usually farms smell but this wasn’t the case. The barn conversion itself is lovely. All open planned downstairs, upstairs again very spacious. The only negative feed back I would have to say is the furniture of the property is very old fashioned and really needs updating to give the over finish a great quality. The sofa is very very uncomfortable.The beds need replacing. Also I would change the bed size upstairs to king size Like downstairs as there’s plenty of room to do so. The views from the upstairs main room was lovely to wake up to everyday which we will miss. Overall really enjoyable stay and was sad to leave.

In general, we enjoyed the stay.

Bedrooms were excellent and the hot tub was appreciated. The major cricism was the extremely uncomfortable seating in the lounge area. The two chairs had seen better days and the sofa was quite uncomfortable - very hard seating. Six people would have been very uncomfartable. Although the kitchen was adequate there are problems with an aging cooker - symbols are badly worn, making electric rings difficult to recognise. Local information and tourist leaflets need updating. Directions to cottage could be made much clearer.

Just come home after a lovely six nights here with my daughter.

We had a really lovely stay despite the weather not being the greatest. We had slow mornings reading or watching a dvd and then went out exploring for the day. The kitchen had everything we needed and was extremely well kitted out. Love the large fridge freezer! Having a bathroom each was lovely too. The beds were very firm and we aren’t used to this so both found them a little uncomfortable. Perhaps a mattress topper would be nice? The sofa was also a little uncomfortable, but the chairs were fine. There is a single track road and only on two occasions did we meet another vehicle. Due to the high rainfall it was a bit tricky finding an adequate place to pull over but we managed. The hot tub was amazing! As were the friendly cats. Would love to come back again.

It's a lovely place for peace and quiet ,no one comes mithering you .

The settees were out dated with throwover on them the baking trays and pots had seen better days all the bedding smelt musty the hot tub was dirty with no cleaning agents in it all the paving in the back was uneven where my parner fell and broke 3 ribs this was supposed to have been a relaxing week we home on the Monday

The cottage was lovely and clean and well equipped.

The hot tub was great and the views stunning. But we found the sofas and chairs too uncomfortable to sit on.

Enjoyed a relaxing and much needed rest.

Hope to return next year. It was nice to see the welsh Black cattle, the view from the patio was marvellous. Thank you so much Anwen for making us feel so welcome.

Absolutely adored our stay here, such a lovely place to relax and unwind.

Facilities were brill and especially loved coming home to the hot tub after a long day of exploring. Hosts were super helpful and kind too, it was lovely chatting about the farm and interesting stories in general. We'd love to come back in the future! x

the house had everything you could want or need regarding cooking location was perfect and easy to access very peaceful perfect unwind with a hot tub :) .

Excellent rural quiet & picturesque location.

..a good base for all the coastal towns along the North Wales coast.....all rooms very spacious & tidy.

All that's missing are some grab rails by the toilet in the down stairs bathroom.

Excellent property in the countryside.

Everywhere was very clean. Hot tub was lovely. Amazing views. Cottage felt very spacious. Only very minor comments about the dining room chairs and one of the chairs very saggy! Host was excellent - very welcoming and friendly and helpful.

Owner was very welcoming and made sure our stay is top notch. We never had a better holiday in the UK. It was really good. My kids in particular the twins, loved walking around the firm. It was a total relax holiday!!

Although we had what we needed for the weeks' stay, a few things were not as expected.

The road leading to the property is a single track, very bumpy with overgrown hedges for a couple of miles. So this property won't be for you if you have a large car, unless you mind a few scratches. The property was average, a few broken bits when we arrived, blinds not shutting properly, towel rails and door handles hanging off. Sofa not comfortable, we were out most days to be fair, but the last day decided to chill, the wifi is non existent. The bonus was the hot tub though.

We really enjoyed our holiday in this cottage, it was very comfy and well equipt with the bonus of a hot tub.

We had some lovely evenings watching the nearby animals and chatting with the owners . It was great to meet Anwen who I shared a sewing interest with!! Would not hesitate to return.

Anwen, was a great host & was available to answer any questions.

The only drawback to the cottage was the poor access road which needs attention from the local council. That said it did not spoil our holiday.

The cottage is spacious, well-equipped and the downstairs bedroom and shower room made it easily accessible for our elderly mum.

The location is fairly remote and very beautiful - the view from the terrace and the upstairs double bedroom is quite gorgeous, You do have to drive down narrow, winding, hilly, single-track lanes to reach it, but we got used to that. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. Only negative is that dogs aren't allowed, meaning that the whole family couldn't stay. We would stay here again if we were returning to the area.

We had a lovely couple of days staying at the cottage.

The house was extremely clean and well-equipped right down to extra games for the children. The house was warm and the hot pool wonderful! No complaints on that score at all. One suggestion of better information on finding the property itself. Given that I had the owners mobile number I was unperturbed when we got lost -until I discovered we had no mobile signal. However, the local Post Office soon put us on the right track. Would definitely recommend this property and would be happy to return.

We were expecting a farm cottage in the middle of nowhere.

Which we got but that takes away from the accommodation. It was a lovely farm cottage with everything we needed. Clean and well equipped so we felt like we were on holiday, but relaxed enough to feel at home.

Anwen was a really nice and please host.

From before we got there Anwen text us directions of how to find the cottage that were excellent, as I wouldn’t have stood a chance without them. The cottage was ideally located for visiting local attractions and the scenery breath taking. My wife and kids enjoyed the hot tub. The only small criticism if you could call it that was the sofa was very hard so you couldn’t relax, the chair next to the sofa was fine so I sat there, but we were out 90% of the time so only a little moan. Amenities in the cottage were great. I would highly recommend the cottage.

Great location, lovely cottage, amazing views.

Had a amazing time in Wales, only one bit of advice,which would be replace the settee as it was so uncomfortable and felt like sitting on a bench!!! Would go back and stay again if there was a different settee as you couldn’t relax in the evenings.

Spacious,comfortable well equipped cottage with everything provided for a great holiday.

I also appreciated the full-size fridge freezer which enabled us to stock all our family foods easily especially when you are feeding a family of 5, much better than some holiday homes which only supply a tiny freezer compartment which is neither use nor ornament. Our host Anwen is a lovely lady who was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Fantastic cottage.

Good layout with everything we needed. Perfect rural location that allows you to explore the North Wales coast from Chester to Caernarfon. Very friendly greeting with the owners on site to assist with any needs or offer suggestions. The hot tub overlooking the farms fields with grazing cattle while the sun sets was a great way to end the day!

Cottage was in a beautiful setting. Great place to get away from it all and relax.

Ysgubor Barn was ideal for our needs.

The downstairs bedroom and shower room suited my elderly mother who finds it difficult to climb stairs. All the facilities we needed were there and Anwen, our host was able to help with any request. The hot tub was an added bonus.

Lovely places to eat only 5 mins drive away. Nice cottage and lovely owners-very helpful. Rooms are spacious and clean. Nice hot tub and view. Definitely recommend.

A very comfortable and spacious cottage. We would certainly recommend this to anyone wanting a Welsh escape from it all. Lastly, the The Bull, in Abergele is well worth going to for a meal both in the quality of its food and its reasonable prices.

Might be useful for future visitors to inform them that the cottage is in a very rural isolated position and involves driving along some single track country lanes.

This might not suit everybody! However, the views were spectacular and it was delightful to sit in the garden when the weather permitted. Anwen was a very considerate, friendly and helpful host and really made us feel at home. We also loved the luxury of our own private hot tub!

Lovely cottage with large rooms.

Owners were very friendly and helpful. Only reason for reduced rating on comfort was that mattress was a bit soft for my husband.

Anwen could not have been more pleasant, leaving birthday banners for me, and just generally welcoming, the cottage is lovely, the bedrooms are fabulous, and the views are spectacular, would stay again in a heartbeat.

Although the glorious weather was a fabulous bonus we could not fault Ysgubor Barn, we were met at the door by Anwen the owner who showed us around the cottage and its superb facilities.

Anwen gave us lots of information about the local area and things to do further afield. We are a family of five my wife and I, our daughter and partner and our four year old grandson, the cottage met our needs perfectly with a ground floor bedroom and bathroom for the old folks and the younger ones upstairs in two bedrooms with a shared bathroom. The cottage is on a working farm in the middle of nowhere, the only noise came from the farm animals and the occasional tractor. That said it is only a five minute drive to Abergele with a good selection of shops and a large Tesco, fifteen to twenty minutes takes you Colwyn Bay with its super beaches. In thirty minutes you can be in the beautiful Victorian seaside town of Llandudno or Conway with its thirteenth century castle and Thomas Telford bridge. All in all this cottage has it all and we would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful break but with lots of attractions close by.

The cottage is beautiful, peaceful and exceeded all our expectations, so much so, we didnt want to leave. The owners were so kind, friendly and helpful and gave plenty of useful information during our stay. We will defiantly be returning! Gemma.

We really enjoyed staying in this well equipped, cosy holiday cottage.

In particular, we looked forward to relaxing in the hot tub after I day out exploring. The three bedrooms were all roomy and comfortable with fabulous views over the farm, countryside and snow mountains in the background. A remote but at the same time central location for exploring north wales; just half hour drive from Llandudno and beautiful Conwy. There was two large shower rooms with powerful hot showers. The open plan lounge/ diner was perfect for our family of 5 to relax in and spend time together in the evening. We had a really lovely three day break and thank Anwen for her kind hospitality.

A lovely quiet location, handy for the coast and Snowdonia, Anwen the host was very nice, friendly lady the facilities were excellent we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and hope to return.

This was the perfect holiday.

Not very far to go if you wanted entertainment or nightlife. There was a slight problem with the internet and wifi connections but we were in the Welsh hills and not being funny but it's a holiday. None of us missed it at all. Would highly recommend this location and will certainly be using Sykes again. Thank you very much.
