Porth Awyr

A perfect location for an "away from it all break".

Lovely and quiet. Porth Awyr had everything we needed for our stay although some parts look a little tired and in need of a refresh. The shower is excellent, the bed comfortable and all in all it suited our needs as a base for exploring this amazing area. Malcolm and Melanie were on hand when we needed them and our lovely hosts.

Lovely cottage in a very peaceful setting.

Good access to many wonderful beaches. Really enjoyed staying at this cottage. Nothing too much trouble for the lovely owners. We had a great time and would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

The cottage is set in a beautiful area with lots of places to visit and activities on offer.

The biggest disappointment was cleanliness. Everything is in need of a thorough clean, a lick of paint and some tlc.

Very peaceful and accomodation was roomy and comfortable.

What let it down was it wasnt clean. Yes its near farm and fields so you expect cobwebs. But you could see them clearly not hidden. And you could tell the dust was not a few days it must have been weeks. Sadley this let the accomodation down.

A perfect little detached cottage with a country style kitchen.

It had everything we needed. Perfect for our dog as well as the garden is fully enclosed so she could wander around without a worry of her getting out. Sofas and bed were very comfy, and the shower room was really well done. The smart tv was a welcome addition for the evenings. Couldn't fault our stay at all. Thank you.

We loved the location, the conservatory and the garden, and the cottage generally.

It's a great place for 2 or 3 people with a dog. The pizza emporium down the road was fab, along with nearby beaches only a short drive away, and you can watch the sunset over the sea from up the road. We crammed a lot into a three day break, and found lots of dog friendly places in the area. Although things below irked us I've still given it a fairly high score as they may not bother other people and on the whole we had a wonderful holiday here. The kitchen was well equipped although some items (particularly mugs) were stored in odd places. Grateful for washing machine, clothes line and dishwasher. We turned the heating off, it kept getting far too hot and we couldn't figure out how to reprogram the unit. Luckily we had fabulous warm weather during our stay. I was looking forward to a nice relaxing bath but it had turned into a walk in shower, although it was an excellent shower. The bed itself was comfy for us (hard bed, foam I think) but we both found all the pillows to be too hard. The first night a neighbour left a glaring light on all night, which shone right on the bedroom window so sleeping was difficult, it also shone right across the garden so late night dark sky stargazing was also off the menu. Thankfully it was turned off the following nights. The green night lights indoors were also too bright. Easy parking adjacent. The garden is enclosed and south/westerly facing, but not enclosed enough for dogs that are apt to wander. Our dog uses a long training lead and that worked fine.

Well maintained. Loved the new modern bathroom. Very helpful and friendly owners. Very quiet location. Can be cold in the evenings, but heating is available.

A lovely property in a wonderful location

This is the 3rd time we've stayed here.

Location is great but the cleanliness of the cottage was appalling. It wasn't great 2 years ago but has gone downhill. The dust was horrendous. There was pet hairs all over the coffee table tv stand and floors. Windows were filthy. Mould in the bathroom. Toilet was dirty. And the bath mat that was left was dirty. We spent a good few hrs with the vacuum cleaner to get rid of all the hairs dead flies and cobwebs and a good clean of the kitchen just so we could stay and use it . This has been really disappointing because our stay was for our honeymoon and my husbands birthday. There is no way this property was cleaned before out stay. I did try to contact Sykes but like everything these days you don't get through to anyone.

We loved our stay at Porth Awyr, such a peaceful situation surtounded by fields and high hedged lanes so handy for visiting.

places on the peninsula. Big and spacious ,comfortable beds with nice bedding, fluffy towels provided. Very light and airy we would love to book again for Porth Awyr we loved our holiday .

A lovely cottage in an ideal location

The property is a good location and the layout of the house is good.

We were disappointed that the property wasnt particularly clean, surfaces were dusty, floors hadnt been swept properly, internal bins were all dirty. Generally the whole property needed a good bottoming. We were also subject to noisy excavation works right outside which we were told would be one morning which we were fine with but it ended up being several mornings. Diggers on the go right outside the bedroom at 7.30am wasnt what we had planned on. Generally the property needs some TLC inside and out, overgrown garden area, patio full of weeds doesnt make sitting out particularly enjoyable. Whilst there is garden table this was used as a washing airer support! I think if you are going to charge a reasonable sum for people to stay you should at least keep up with the basics. Very disappointed.

Lovely, well equipped, comfy cottage in a peaceful, beautiful location.

The area is spectacular - great if you are into wildlife or walking and the beaches are amazing.

Lovely little cottage, could not fault it really.

Unfortunately dishwasher had a fault and due to social distancing could not be repaired but otherwise perfect. Was a busy day if five cars went by. Quite isolated.

Very remote location .

.. which suited us and our needs. Coastal path and small towns easily accessible ... beautiful scenery. Thousands of sheep for company. Ideal if you are looking for an 'away from it all' break.

A lovely cottage set in peaceful surroundings with a large conservatory that catches the sun all day.

Good sized enclosed garden so very safe for children and dogs to run around in. The large kitchen was very well equipped with a good sized fridge and stand alone 3 drawer freezer, large bedroom and comfortable bed. Cosy evenings by the open fire. Short drive from some of the most beautiful beaches in Wales. Small supermarket in Aberdaron, 2.5 miles, stocking everything you require there is also a lovely bakery and coffee shop. The owners are very helpful and friendly should you need them. It far exceeded our expectations. A perfect cottage in a perfect location.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed. It was very quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed going to the surrounding areas and the weather was also kind.

The cottage was cosy, well-equipped and comfortable - we were very happy there for our week.

However, we did feel that the area near the back door needed tidying. The outside chairs were grubby: they needed a good scrub and some weeding was required too. It all looked a bit neglected! This didn’t spoil our stay (we have been coming to the area for over fifty years!) and we found the cottage to be a great location to visit all our favourite places. Thank you! Andy and Ros Taylor.

Llyn Peninsula is an area of outstanding views - we went to Porth Awyr last year as well, and we and our bid dog are getting to know a lovely range of hill walks (not too steep!

), in addition to the well-known coastal walks. More to come no doubt! The area is approaching Aberdaron, so is nearly at the end of the peninsula - you can see Bardey Island peeping through from the back garden. The cottage is good - especially if you enjoy a quiet, peaceful area, where the only likely ones to see are the local couple of farmers and their cows, sheeps, farm dogs - and an occasional friendly visit from the owner.

A perfect little cottage which was what we were looking for, It was in a very quiet and peaceful location, and in easy reach of beaches and lots of walks to choose from, Also had no problem going to and from other places to visit.

So if you want somewhere to chill out this is the place for you, I can recommend it.

The cottage is extremely comfortable and well equipped.

It is in a lovely quiet rural location with very little passing traffic. Useful enclosed grassed areas outside which are safe for those with children and dogs. Just about perfect for visiting the sights of the Lleyn peninsular and in particular the lovely seaside village of Aberdaron and Porthor (whistling sands). Could be improved with the addition of a small freezer; we visited during a heatwave and could have done with ice cubes in our drinks.

We had a lovely weekend , the cottage is so cosy and set in the middle of beautiful surrounding countryside, Aberdaron and Abersoch only short drives away.

If you need a peaceful and quiet time away then I highly recommend this property. Only downside was the mattress was far too soft (that’s just a personal preference) and the property doesn’t have a freezer (but when the temperatures are at minus we kept the ice outside :-)

This was one of the best winter breaks we have had .

The cottage was a delight and so cosy. We would definitely consider going back.

The cottage was very well equipped but the fridge had no icebox in it.

Most people bring a coolbag but have no means of freezing an icepack.
