Stiniog Lodge

Spent 4 days over Christmas at Stiniog Lodge.

Absolutely gorgeous house in a perfect location. Amazing host who is so helpful, and very generous! The kitchen has everything you need, there was lovely Christmas decs all around, and the living space is very comfortable. WiFi boosters all around which is great when you’re taking teens. Zipworld quite literally on the doorstep. The ONLY downside is the bathroom situ, but for a few days away it was no problem at all. (There is a shower downstairs which I hadn’t realised, but was a lifesaver and a nice surprise when we arrived!) Would 100% recommend.

My friends and I usually do one or two trips away a year to the Welsh countryside, and we all agreed that Stiniog has definitely been the best so far - both in terms of the property itself, and the location it's situated at.

The town is a 5 minute drive away, which has multiple hiking trails starting from it. The property itself is fantastic and spacious - the pictures on the website really don't do it justice! Sharon, our host, was very accommodating and communicative, replying to messages within minutes and providing local hiking recommendations. Her demeanor in the messages was very friendly and warm. Without a doubt we will be staying here again.

Enough to explore if mobile with the Grapes bar /Hotel,10 minutes,Betsw Coed with its beauty ,eateries ,Takeaway Chinese from S2,The grapes Hotel 10 miles drive and Castles in Harlech and Colwyn bay.

Barmouth beach,the steam railway and the karting as an affordable option to the more expensive zip if a big group.Good weather doubles the appeal of the place but it is the Uk.Thanks for a lovely trip.

We stayed at Stiniog Lodge with family.

There was 14 of us in total. We found the area to be great. Next door to Zipworld so we spent one day there, and close to some lovely locations. The lodge is very spacious and very clean. Huge dining table and breakfast bar for us all to sit together and eat together. We made use of the BBQ also one night. Everything you would need to cook at hand. The kids particularly enjoyed the games room and the little ones loved the little pond with the tadpoles. The only negative thing was that one of the mattresses on the top maisonette bed was very thin and the 2 adults that slept on it didn’t have a good sleep. They however swapped the mattress over the next day to the one in the next room and then they then fine. All the other beds in the lodge were loveky and comfortable. Overall we all had a great stay and would stay here again. Thank you for our very enjoyable 4 night stay

Stiniog Lodge was spacious with lovely grounds and in a great location for visiting Zip World, Snowdonia, and nearby walking trails.

It had only two bathrooms, with one accessible only through a bedroom, which was a bit inconvenient at times, especially in the mornings. The bedrooms were generously sized, though some of the mattresses could do with updating as they weren’t the most comfortable. The lounge areas were cosy and perfect for socialising. Overall, we enjoyed a lovely few days together at the lodge.

The property was lovely in a nice location.

I think it would be a struggle for 14 to share. There were 11 of us and that perfect. It was easy to get out on to the main road for going out. The hotel next door was busy but very quiet.

Great location for our stay & great communication with the owner.

Lovely property, very clean & all in working order. Only fault we had was, for the size of our party, & the mix of ages, we could have done with a 3rd toilet, especially with having to walk through one of the bedrooms to access the main bathroom, not ideal for a group that aren’t family! Postcode can be a little tricky, depending on which direction you come in from. Easier to say, follow ZipWorld. Overall a great experience & highly recommended. 10/10.

We had a lovely stay with extended family.

The house was perfect for the range of ages, with plenty of space for us all to get together. It had a comfortable and relaxed feel. There was plenty of space and facilities in the kitchen to cook and eat together. The garden was excellent and we were lucky with the weather. The tadpoles were an exciting treat for the younger one. The owner was extremely helpful and communication was excellent. We would definitely recommend a stay.

The address in the listing describes a whole area, and the pin on the map in the listing is in the wrong place altogether.

It was very difficult to find. Suggest you add a Google maps pin or coordinates. Worth adding a note that there is no local petrol station open over the weekend.

I truly loved the scenery.

. Also, the WI-FI was weak when you use it outside the living room. So there now I would recommend you to shower upstairs and dress upstairs, use things that require strong Wi-fi inside the living room and when it's Christmas, try to tell Santa to use the window instead of the very compact chimney. We had a fantastic time at Stiniog cottage.

It is spacious enough to accommodate three families(of 4), grandparents, and a small dog as well. Children loved playing in the garden and all the activities that are available in close proximity. The views and surroundings are absolutely amazing. Sharon, the owner, is very helpful, ready to answer to any question and made sure we are well looked after, thank you for that.

Very spectacular view from the front garden, and 2 toilets wasn't bad for a very large group of people for 2 nights.

Excellent base for exploring Snowdonia, great spot for a big group with everything that we needed.

Super comfy beds, which were much needed after a hike to Snowdon summit. Would recommend.

Amazing property kept clean to a high standard, wonderful location.

Only one main bathroom is not great for big parties especially considering it sleeps 14.

The bedrooms however were good. The listing doesn’t make it clear that the ONLY entrance to the bathroom is through the main bedroom. The property needs some attention to upkeep - the games table is broken, lacking all the parts, batteries in controllers were dead etc. Bathroom lock also didn’t work.

Not two bathrooms, main bathroom is only accessible through one of the double bedrooms upstairs.

Downstairs is a shower room with toilet next to it in the utility room. The host is really lovely and very helpful. Plenty of room for a large party and a great base for zip world and beyond. Definitely recommend Stiniog lodge

Unfortunately there was no guest book to write comments in as there should have been!

The accommodation was adequate for 12, apart from only 2 showers and 2 toilets and one of the showers was through a bedroom so was a bit awkward! They were good toilets and great showers, just not really enough of them for 12! Beds were comfortable, but the beds above the twin beds in the family room was not suitable for adults and very awkward to crawl into especially if you were tall! One of the double bedrooms had no bedside lights and the plugs were on the wall at the foot of the bed and was awkward for charging phones, etc. This needs to be addressed, particularly the bed side lights as there was a bedside light on each bedside table in the twin room, and the other double and the family rooms! Kitchen large and well equipped, dishwasher very handy as was the washing machine! Saucepans could do with lids as they do tend to make a mess of the stove top. The lights above the cooker needed replacing as did not work! Apart from that great! The play station was not working so a bit of disappointment there! The games room was handy for rainy days, as were the board games provided! Overall a very comfortable cottage to stay with all you need for a good holiday! Portmeiron close by makes for a great day out, as do the caverns with zip wires, underground golf and deep mining experience! Snowdon easy to get to also, but a long steep walk to the top, good for hikers in particular! Some good restaurants not too far, one being the Grapes, and another close to that, both being excellent and do great food, proper food also, with potatoes and vegetables, gravy etc! A lovely change from peas and chips all the time, which were on a lot of the meals! Owner lovely, very helpful and basics provided, which was a welcome start pack! Would definitely recommend!

Would not book with Sykes again.

Impossible to get hold of and would not change a booking months before arrival. Long and unclear terms and conditions, we lost well over a thousand pounds on a holiday we could not attend. They would not change the dates or cancel even with 2 and half months notice. Instead ignore the requests until it was six weeks away from the arrival date and then said you cannot change the booking because you are six weeks away.

Lovely property which offers privacy and space for any type of holiday.

Owner is very responsive and helpful prior and during the holiday which is greatly appreciated. Good location for multiple trips whether that is adventure of zip world, beach days or walking trips. Town is only 20 minute walk away which has shops and takeaways.

All round pretty good just what we were looking for as a base camp for our adventure, The only thing was the pound attracted miggies And a few of us got a few insects bites that was it Would got again for its location

The house was absolutely stunning and so perfect for our bridal party!

The rooms were really roomy and spacious, the living room and kitchen were really great to hold all 13 of us! Over all this was a stunning house in an even more beautiful location, right on the Zip world site for anyone who wants to visit (and I highly recommend!!). Owner went above and beyond to help us, and provided a gorgeous Prosecco wall for us on arrival which was amazing!!

Stiniog lodge worked well for family of 14.

A little tired looking but comfortable. Bathroom being off one of the bedrooms caused some problems in that we had to go downstairs in the night or disturb people sleeping. Beds were small and a little creaky for adults. Warm with plenty of hot water. Great location to where we wanted to visit so would use again.

We had a wonderful stay at Stiniog Lodge.

A large group of us needed a place to stay before and after our charity hike in the area and the lodge was ideal for a group like us. Plenty of room to eat together and chill in the lounge. Bed's where comfortable with plenty of room for everyone. The owner was great with communication, getting back to us with questions quickly and recommending places to eat nearby. Would highly recommend for large familes or groups looking for a place to stay.

Great property that was perfect for our type of trip and size of our group.

As feedback I would suggest having a welcome book with the basics of how things work i.e. heating and the television (that took a while to master).

Where do I start, Sharon had arranged some balloons and a Prosecco wall for us on arrival for my mums 60th weekend.

Nothing was to much trouble and the displays were beautiful! The little hamper left with treats in for us all including our pups was so thoughtful! Plentiful room for a group of us 11 and two dogs to stay. Only thing I would say I could hear my neighbours cough or roll over in bed, I thought the bathroom would of been an issue like a number of the other reviews had stated but it really wasn’t with a bit of organisation location could be better if the bathroom but that’s it! The house was lovely and clean the views were picturesque! Definitely return and highly recommend the personal touches offered ❤️ Thank you for making it such a memorable weekend away for me and my family!

Great communication with the owner, very fast replies and helpful.

The house itself was beautiful and clean and was sufficient for a group of 14. It’s in a prime location so great for walks and access to zip world. Loads of amenities including different games and books to keep the children entertained. Will definitely be coming back here again soon!

Our party of 10 ( aged from 83-9 ) had a wonderful week staying at Stiniog Lodge.

The house is a great size for large parties, with all the amenities you need. It is very homely and we had great games nights around the big kitchen table and cosy movie nights in the large living room. The location was ideal for exploring North Wales (we even got a beach day on Anglesey) and perfect for the thrill seekers visiting Zip World as it’s right next door! Betws-y-Coed is only 20mins away, where you can park all day and catch the Sherpa bus to Pen-y-Pass carpark to climb Snowdon. The local town of Blaenau Ffestiniog in 5 mins away and has small supermarkets and plenty of takeaways. Over all an amazing week in Wales, we all loved it! The scenery is just beautiful. Thank you to Sharon and her family who are very kind and helpful owners. We will be back!

Everything you need and plenty of space

We have just returned after a week stay in Stiniog Lodge.

We enjoyed our first big family holiday at the lodge which suited us as a large family and we felt we had lots of space. There were however some issues. We felt mislead by photos online which didn’t meet expectations. There is a very big problem with mould and damp throughout the house, the games room was unusable due to the horrible smell of mould which we felt was unsafe for the children. The double bedroom had mould under the window above the headboard so the family in this room had to sleep the other end of the bed. The master bedroom was extremely cold due to a poorly working radiator. General cleanliness of the house was poor with cobwebs throughout, a dirty oven, under beds covered in dust, one of the provided blankets in the living room stank of sick and the downstairs toilet radiator was covered in urine. The garden has very little privacy due to the hotel backing onto the garden. This should have been included in the information online.

Lovely property, ideal location and well maintained.

The house has a really good amount of space, the kitchen and living room manage to accommodate everyone comfortably. Only draw back to the property is the location of the large bath room, this is located through the master bedroom, making it a little awkward for all other guests to use, and the main toilet and shower room downstairs was okay but the property would of benefited from having the main bathroom accessible to all. Overall we loved the property and would definitely book again.

The cottage was lovely and is well located in the heart of the national park.

Great location for access to Zip World too. It had everything we needed and is very spacious which is perfect for a big group!

The house was amazing and is in a lovely location and we had everything we needed! I honestly can’t think of any faults we had a great weekend. The house was one of the best bits!

Very beautiful part of Wales to stay, the lodge was large enough for our family of 13 however on arrival it was not very clean - sticky worktops and dirty crockery in the kitchen cupboards.

Used plaster on the floor in main bedroom. The microwave didn't work, and on a planned resting day we found that the TV in the lounge didn't work either. We did inform the owner on leaving however they didn't follow up our feedback which was also disappointing.

The lodge was brilliant.

Very spacious and well equipped and in an amazing location. Great location to explore North Wales and especially Zip World with one literally on the doorstep and Velocity 2 only 45 minutes away. We had a few problems with our arrival but the host was extremely helpful and welcoming. Would recommend this lodge to anyone and will definitely look to book again when holidaying in the area.

This is a lovely property inside and out, the pictures do make the lodge look smaller than it is - so we were pleasantly surprised to turn up and have plenty of space.

All of the kitchen facilities used worked and the living room was comfortable to sit in. No complains about any of the beds, so as far as i’m aware they were all as comfy as mine! :). As stated in previous reviews the bathroom situation is a bit of a nightmare with the only upstairs bathroom being through one of the bedrooms but we were all friends so this wasn’t too much of an issue! Only a ten min walk away from a couple of pubs and takeaways. I would definitely stay here again and any communication with the owner was really nice and easy!!

Overall a very nice place and location was fantastic.

Beds were comfortable and enough space for the 9 of us. There was everything we needed in the kitchen and the welcome basket was a nice touch. Only having two bathrooms, one of which was through a bedroom to get to, was not ideal. I would not want to stay there with 14 people because of that. A little bit of maintenance is needed primarily to plug sockets and light switches. Overall though, I would recommend the house, although only for smaller groups than what is advertised.

Great communal living room with fire, we all had a lovely stay. Only suggestions would be to have some cooking basics left from previous guests, oil, salt pepper etc. and another bathroom would be very handy.

Spacious and airy with lots of outside space. Plenty of parking too. The only downside as other people have said is that there are only two toilets. Would definitely stay there again.

Lovely big and spacious lodge in a great location.

Would definitely benefit from one less bedroom to accomodate another bathroom upstairs. We managed as there was only six of us, but at full capacity would in my opinion struggle a bit. Cleanliness could have been better, don't really expect to have to be cleaning the oven on arrival? All in all though the house was great, perfect location (with fab views) and lovely garden for the children to play, just don't forget the repellent as it seems the midges can be a bit bitey at this time of year and the weather being so warm. Overall our boys really enjoyed their holiday though, and looking forward to returning in the future (mainly for Surf Snowdonia which they absolutely loved!) Snowdonia is truly a stunning place with so much to do for children and adults of all ages. Blaenau Ffestiniog itself is steeped in history and just this town alone has so much to do from lovely walks, zip lines, undergroung golf, bounce below, caverns, quarry karts down hill mountain biking to a tour of the deep mines ( which i personally recommend to give you an idea of what this town was/is all about). All this is literally on the doorstep of Stiniog Lodge. If you want a more sedate holiday, you just need to venture a bit further away and you are spoilt for choice of beautiful beaches and mountain walks.... what's not to love. Lovely holiday, thanks.

Excellent location from which to explore.

The bathroom provision really would not be enough for 14 or 16 people- there were 12 of us and we were all family and it was really the limit of acceptability.

Also for large numbers, the cooking containers are not really suitable. However, the place was good and fun.

Great location to stay for hill walking and dog owners with plenty of alternatives such as the caves etc; right on the doorstep.

Lots of beaches and other attractions within an hour’s drive in any direction. Very nice host’s to deal with any would recommend to anyone for a great stay.

Had an amazing stay.

Absolutely beautiful cottage, everything you could possibly need. Comfiest bed I have ever slept on, same said by the rest of the group staying. Beautifully decorated, clean, lovely host I could go on and on it was perfect and can't wait to stay again in the future.

In the double and twin room there was no were to unpack our clothes.

The toilet in the down stairs loo keeps blocking up, lucky my husband is plumber so we didn't need to call on the owners, Something to do with the pipe at the back. The tap in the kitchen is the wrong way around as the hot is cold, cold as hot. The x-box control don't work. The garden is not closed to the drive so dog could get out. Nothing to put your clothes on in the downstairs shower room. Other then these few things, it's a beautiful setting. Not far off 5 stars.

We've just returned the lodge was perfect for the size of family.

The bathroom wasn't an issue for us at all. The location is fantastic for all amenities within the area with Bounce Below actually on the doorstep. We would definitely return we've had an amazing time

The cottage was large enough for all 13 of us plus 2 dogs.

I didn't have a problem with just two bathrooms. I never had to wait to use the facilities. The area is spectacular and plenty of things to do. Very enjoyable thank you.

Bathroom facilities not adequate enough considering amount of guests that stay, lodge is more for hikers and walkers.

Caretaker was amazing very helpful especially during the bad weather. However we did enjoy our stay good quality family time together.

The property was very well equipped, the only item missing that we felt would be beneficial is a pair of oven gloves.

I also didn't see a welcome pack explaining what was available in the area but this may just be me not looking hard enough or it being moved by another group member as we were a large group who arrived at different times. The only other thing i would suggest is that locks are fitted to bathroom and shower doors. Often properties like this catering for larger groups are not necessarily family members and privacy can become an issue. Other than this an excellent property located well for accessing North Wales and the activities available.

Lovely spacious property.

Very clean and well equipped. Sharon was a great host and very easy to contact. We throughly enjoyed our family holiday here with lots to do in the surrounding area. Can’t wait to go back!!

We had a lovely break, perfect for a family/get together, loads of space!

Adults and kids loved it. Great communication with owner. Would definitely recommend! Few more cooking utensils, would have been a benefit.

The cottage was in good a location plenty of room for our party of 12 but could do with more seating in living room and beds were very uncomfortable. could do with another bathroom as only 2 is not enough for a large party but wouldn't put us off from staying again. thanks again for a good week

The reason for our rating was that although the lodge was clean the garden furniture was not and we had to clean up sheep poo before we could sit outside.

The beds although clean were not we think doubles where they should have been. The photos online are misleading, kitchen was smaller then shown. Good location, it might be worth mentioning the midges which we think came from the pond in the garden as elsewhere in the town or surrounding areas there was not a problem with them.

A fabulous spacious house with plenty of room for the 12 of us.

The only downside was, that we felt it would work better with another toilet/bathroom. The owner Sharon was extremely helpful and friendly. We had an amazing time and would definitely recommend.

Cottage is set in an ideal location, no more than 45 minutes from many of the tourist attractions in North Wales.

Stayed here towards the end of September, amazing place with plenty of space and beds for all.

Location great with lots to do around and right next door to zip world with shops just a small drive away. Would definitely recommend and hope to return in the future. Host was pleasant when speaking with them.

Great few days away to see in the New Year.

The lodge was prefect for our group of 10. Plenty of options for sleeping arrangements, a big dining table that we could all easily fit around for meals, and a nice living room for relaxing in the evenings. Would definitely look at returning at some point.

We stayed over Christmas period with 4 families.

Absolutely lovely place, the house is very clean and well looked after, very spacious and in a very good location. We enjoyed the activities of Zip World and visited the water falls and the lovely town with all the shops, sorry don't remember the name. The only down side I would say is that the second bathroom is in an en-suite room. But other than that would definitely recommend it to anyone who will be visiting Wales and would definitely come back to this house our selves. 5/5

House could do with a bit of TLC.

Had a end of season feel to it. There was a desperate need for aother bathroom. Overall we had a good holiday at the lodge but a bit more thought needs to go into the facilties e.g hooks on the back of doors to hang your dressing gown on. On the plus side a very wel lequipped kitchen with plenty of space in the lodge.

This is an great cottage in an amazing location for exploring Snowdonia.

The kitchen and lounge are large and can accommodate a big group and the bedrooms are also large with comfy beds. The cottage had all the facilities needed with the only slight downside the main bathroom is accessed through one of the bedrooms however this is easily managed and wouldn't stop me booking again. There is an amazing garden to relax in as well.

The house is a little gem,beautiful location so peaceful even though it's next to a working slate mine and sports adventure centre,the views from the front garden were stunning,we had everything we needed and beds were so comfy.

the new owners are still doing it up but what they've done so far is lovely,it's about 40 minutes from the main walking passes but the views on the drive around the mountain were gorgeous. We would definitely stay here again

We had a lovely time!

The cottage was located in a brilliant location and was a lovely place to stay! Great for a chilled out Hen weekend as the shared spaces were excellent. Beds were comfortable and everything we needed was provided.

Stiniog Lodge was a perfect house for myself and 10 friends to get together, the kitchen is huge which meant we could cook and eat altogother.

A great spacious house for different families wishing to holiday together.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away, even though the weather wasn’t shining.

The location of the lodge was a surprise a 5 minute walk to bounce Below and tour around the slate mines. Also a short walk to local town. Then lodge was clean and spacious and would recommend for a group. Thank you for letting us stay.

We had a most enjoyable stay at Sting Lodge.

Not only was there more than enough space for 5 children to run around and play, but there was ample sleeping arrangements for our party of 6 adults and 5 children (my grand children). The kitchen is very well equipped with a lovely range stove, microwave, dishwasher and large enough fridge/freezer combo - the washing machine was an added bonus. The large table could seat our extended family comfortably. The lounge is spacious and provides a flat screen TV with basic Sky access as well as a wood burning stove that provided the extra heat required on very cold evenings. There is an adjacent games room which the kids enjoyed, but this was a bit cold as it does not have a central heating radiator. New owners have recently taken over and it is clear that they intend improving the property, so it can only get better!! Well recommended.
