Lovely home in a very quiet village.

The house was spotless on arrival as well as being warm and cosy. Beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. We used the electric vehicle charging with no problem - just pay for what you use at the end of your stay. Just note it is not a fast charging charger, rather just like the ones you have at home. Very short walk to the local shop and friendly pub. Pub served nice meals and we did not feel out of place. Richard, the host, was very friendly and not at all intrusive. Would recommend.

A very well designed cottage.

Easy to maintain and excellent location for the southern area of the National park. Has a store and charging facility for bikes and ebikes. Parking access reversing out is a little fiddly for big vehicles like a camper but quite OK with care. The owner is close and really helpful. Although in the village it is very private and peaceful.

We had a great time at the cottage, all was clean and comfortable, with amenities nearby, it was ideal for our walking, visiting castles, beaches, our favourite place to eat was the grapes hotel, the food was excellent !

Beautiful house, very spacious for a family of 5.

Beds are really comfortable. Fully equipped, very tasty cake on arrival as some milk, butter, bread etc. Very friendly owner. We would love to come back to see more of the beautifull area.

This is a lovely property which was very clean, in good condition and we enjoyed staying there.

The beds were comfortable. The car charger was a nightmare as there were no instructions and it repeatedly cut out because the circuit breaker kept tripping. It improved when I turned down the charge rate in my car but then the car took forever to charge. A Phillips screwdriver was required in order to access the trip switch so be sure to take your own, or your trusty Swiss army knife. I would expect a reliable charger if I am paying 50p/kWh when the owner is paying the electricity price cap of about 25p/kWh. The kitchen knives were very blunt but this is not unusual in holiday cottages so I always take my own. The cottage owners never use them, of course. A second chopping board would be very welcome so that two people could prepare food at the same time. The dripping kitchen tap was like a water torture but I am sure it will be fixed soon. Overall, it was a great place to stay but could be even better with a bit more attention to detail.

This is a lovely holiday cottage - very well equipped with everything you could need.

Beds were really comfortable; furniture and furnishings are good quality; and the food items left for us, (especially the home made bara brith, which was delicious!), were very much appreciated. The village is very close to Llyn Trawsfynydd which is really picturesque. Plus there are lots of interesting places to visit not too far away. Really enjoyed our stay - thank you

Absolutely beautiful cottage located in a quiet village with stunning views.

The cottage is clean, spacious and welcoming. Richard the owner was so welcoming and friendly, even bringing us a loaf of homemade bara brith which was divine. The cottage has everything you need for the week, it’s so homely and cosy. The cottage is in a good location for visiting places, but you do need a car to get around. We would definitely visit again, probably the best holiday cottage we’ve stayed in.

Comfortable, clean & modern cottage in the perfect area to access Snowdonia and the surrounding region.

Everything you need within the property; TV, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, solid internet & EV charger (we don't have electric car so check / £). The owner lives next door so always on hand if you need anything. Richard was friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Amazing place spotlessly clean and the extra little touches milk bread and not forgetting the Welsh cake was lovely.

We only stayed 2 nights but hopefully be back and stay for longer there’s so much to see and do . Thanks Richard .

We very much enjoyed our stay at this property, it was clean, comfortable and well maintained, plus the area was was lovely, with a great well stocked shop literally two minutes walk, and a nice pub, five minutes walk that had good food and excellent selection of beers, wines and spirits.

There were a couple of comments in previous reviews stating that getting in and out of the driveway was a bit tight but we had no problems at all. The owner introduced himself and although we saw him a few times he was in no way intrusive and seemed very pleasant and helpful. All in all a great place to stay.

Nice and warm with the log burner. Great location for walking and local mountain bike parks. Good walks direct from house. Owner very friendly and enjoyed the homemade fruit cake we were given.

Warm, comfortable, very clean, all the facilities you need, and a friendly local host. Friendly local shop and pub too. This area is an outdoor paradise, even in the winter, and we had a lovely week visiting Betws-y-Coed, Coed-y-Brenin, Barmouth etc. etc.!

Great holiday cottage, everything has been thought of to kit out the property to make for a comfortable stay.

Richard the owner popped round to see if all was ok at the start and so we knew where he was if we needed anything, thanks Richard and thanks for the lovely homemade cake. The cottage was very quiet and in a great location in the village. Short walk to the lake from the cottage which is a must. The village shop is so well stocked with lots of local produce, open until late and very friendly. Everyone we met in the village was very friendly. Definitely recommend Y Cilgwyn if you want to stay in the Snowdonia National Park, so much to see and do close by.

A lovely, spacious cottage with a great wood burner, good size bedrooms and hairdryers in both rooms. It was a great location with easy access to lovely beaches, lakes and places of interest. We would happily return.

Y Cilgwyn is a wonderful cottage and we aim to go back for a third time next year.

It was a very enjoyable stay in this warm and comfortable cottage.

The owner was helpful and friendly, but not at all intrusive. The cottage was spacious and well heated with the cosy option of the woodburner which was in use most evenings, which when lit required little extra help from the modern/efficient central to keep the cottage warm, only requiring use first thing in the morning. The cottage is in a remote-feeling village and yet is very central for Snowdonia, allowing good access to great areas North, East, South and West. The village was very peaceful and the village shop, which is only a handful of yards stroll away, was incredibly well stocked, and would have almost anything you might need, without requiring a long drive to a supermarket. It also stayed open until 10pm most days. I would recommend a stay here wholeheartedly.

Beautiful cottage and host Richard was so welcoming and always on hand if needed, not that we did as everything was perfect!

Location was brilliant for getting around, tucked away in a village,yet close to main road for easy access to all the main sights. Would certainly recommend.

Great little cottage, well equipped and very comfy.

Owner was extremely helpful and gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. Lovely village with a good little general store and pharmacy. Amazing walk just a few hundred yards from cottage going across a walk bridge over the lake (we did this a few times it was so nice). The cottage is situated in a great location for exploring this part off Wales there is so much to do, we have been to this area twice now and will have to return as still haven't seen all this beautiful area has to offer and would definitely book this cottage again.

Was the perfect size for us (a family of 4). Richard (the owner) was really nice and helpful. He had left news, milk, butter and q cake for us which a lovely personal touch.

Perfect base for visiting wonderful castles and traveling through spectacular scenery.

There is a very good little general store/post office in the village but no pub/restaurant. We had our main meal out every day and just something light in the evening. Richard, the owner who lives next door, was very attentive and checked that we had everything we needed. There was a very welcome "welcome" pack of bread, butter, milk and delicious fruit cake waiting for us on arrival - a lovely touch - thank you Richard. We would certainly recommend the cottage as an excellent base four touring North Wales.

This was our second visit to this cottage and it was just as good as last time every comfort met and a good base to see the surrounding areas.

We have had a wonderful stay at this cottage, the host Richard had left a lovely cake, fresh bread and milk, and was most attentive during our stay.

Couldn't have wished for a better place to stay, close enough to everything we wanted to do. The cottage had everything you could possibly need and as we had our eight month old grandson with us we ate in most nights and found everything we needed so was just perfect, the local shop opened late too which was a bonus and is literally round the corner. Nice walk up the lane to beautiful views of the lake. Lovely stay, would recommend to friends.

We had a brilliant stay at Y Cilgwyn.

The cottage was renovated to a very good standard and was very cosy. Our young daughters loved sharing the room with bunk beds. Richard was a fantastic host. He made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay, even ensuring that the essentials like milk & butter (even fruit cake!) were there ready for us which was a great touch. We loved the fire and there was plenty of wood to get through to keep it going when needed. We particularly enjoyed the short walk over to the lake and the bridge going across it. Amazing scenery. We would definitely recommend this to friends and family considering a Welsh getaway in the future!

The place was clean modern and very comfortable had everything you want and was in a good location for visiting along the coast as well as inland to bedgellert and Lanberis and to visit Bala lake .

We had a great time there and we would definitely visit y cilgwyn again. Plus the added extras like the very tasty and lovely homemade fruit cake bread butter and milk plus tea coffee and sugar was all very welcomed after a long day travelling thank you so much Richard for a lovely week .

The house exceeded my expectation for the price I paid.

The owner was very friendly, and the house was very clean and cozy with very comfortable beds to sleep in. It’s located next to stunning landscapes and everything was great. I would recommend the house to anyone.

Had a really lovely holiday at this wonderful house.

The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed (including free Wifi) to keep a family of 4 (including boys of 12 & 15) happy for a week. The house is modern and attractively fitted out. The location was ideal - close to the mountain biking centre in Coed y Brenin, and also close to Ffestiniog (to enjoy some of the Zip World offerings) and the White Water rafting centre near Bala. The location near the lake was absolutely stunning. Would love to go back again soon.

We decided to get away for a few days with our 8 month old son and were fortunately able to book and check in at Y Cilgwyn on the same day.

First time we've booked with this company and we weren't disappointed, the staff we spoke with at Sykes were very friendly, professional and extremely helpful! We were given all the information we needed to get there and were met on our arrival by one of the lovely owners, Richard. Richard and Tonya only lived next door, which was a great comfort should we need any help with anything. Richard welcomed us to his cottage giving us a run-through of the information pack and was always very open to our questions about the local area. We loved the cottage, beautifully finished to a high standard, great attention to detail, spacious and with the perfect combination of traditional and modern furnishings... A real home-from-home feel and the location was ideal. There's a general store, literally a hop away, at the end of the street and we were happy going straight out and walking around the lake as well as taking the easy drives to Bala, Harlech, Dolgellau Portmadoch and Portmerion. We will make a point of returning... we've actually already started our itinerary! Nikki, Ian and Gray Tracey xx
