Crown Cottage

We were very happy with the cottage and the hosts, who were very helpful, especially when bag of teddies got left behind.

We used both cottages to enable us to have a full family holiday including our family who lived just a few metres down the road Wonderful! P.s we wondered if there were issues with the shower floor in quarry cottage as it seemed bouncy? All other maintenance very good.

We had a really wonderful holiday in crown cottage, everything we needed was there & some nice Welsh cakes with lovely jam were waiting for us plus some treats for our lovely old dog Pebbles.

Absolutely beautiful home in a beautiful location.

The views and whereabouts is what sold this holiday home to us. Lovely the see the wildlife and the garden is beautiful too, can see for miles up to the sea and wind turbines. The cottage is gorgeous and well facilitated. Our biggest issue was the cleanliness and comfort of the home. We completely understand that pets can visit this home but the amount of dog/ cat hair around the cottage was too much. The cob webs and pet hair across the cottage is thick. I had to put everything into the dishwasher or hand wash as the plates, bowls and cutlery were dirty, the cutlery drawer had debris into it too. We found an old hairbrush under the main bed which was covered in dust, hair and cobwebs. We found old socks and tissues inside the sofa and under it, also in the kids room we found the same. The sofa was ruined, it needs changing, the recliner don’t work, covered in cat scratches and a blanket it used to cover up the damage. Very uncomfortable sofa. I had to clean the bathroom as it had mould on the bath tiles and taps, it also had the pink bacteria build up all over it which only ever happens if it’s not cleaned. I was also annoyed by the owners coming to the cottage on our final night to change the gas canisters. I understand they need to do these things but we were out of the property all day, they could have done this at any time of the day and there was no one next door using the other home to rent, however the owners came at 7:30pm, just as we put our children to bed and then clonked all the gas bottles outside their bedroom! They knew we had children in the home with us and where they needed to be changed, it really scared our kids as it was so loud. The washing machine was awful, again covered in mould and had an awful smell about it, the fabric conditioner drawer was full of old goopy washing machine water and could do with a thorough cleaning, we also cleaned this too as we needed to wash towels and stuff that’s given by the owners. The fridge door shelf was broke and repaired with a single screw, extremely weak and I kept thinking our milk bottles were going to fall out when we opened the door. There was marks on the kitchen doors and skirting boards from where food/ drink has gone on them and it’s not been cleaned up. The wooden floor boards were ruined in the living room, worn away, water damaged and peeling away. The home needs some serious TLC thrown at it all around. We came at the beginning of the season and found all these issues and some not mentioned in my review, it’s a shame to rate it so lowly when the cottage has so much potential. We would visit again if the home was given some more attention. We didn’t see the owners and they were very pleasant and welcoming, Thank you for the stay.

Crown cottage is in a beautiful location, we couldn't believe how perfect it was for our 2 children and 2 dogs.

Plenty of outside space for playing games and running around exploring. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay.

Firstly, I would like to say, absolutely beautiful view, beautiful cottage, dog friendly and the area is beautiful.

Our only and biggest complaint, cleanliness of the cottage. Multiple cob webs, dirty skirting boards, dirty flooring, (blood spots from a previous bitch on heat) dirty, odd, uncomfortable sofas, dirt and dust behind and under, wires from brown sofa had been cut and showing, cream sofa dirty and leg had been replaced with abit of sawn wood. Windows and sills had fly poo on and found dead flys. Kitchen cupboards unkept and sticky floor, dustbin smelt like a dirty ash tray. Bathroom had not been cleaned, bath and floor including grout could do with a spot of bleach. Main bedroom, mattress could do with renewed, multiple coverings on a stained mattress and cheap stained duvet. Twin room was very much the same. Cob Web directly in your face as you walk in. My mother lost her glasses in the bedroom, when we searched for them, the dirt, dust and dog hair was awful behind and under the beds. Would of been usefull to have a dog poo bin. Would of been nice to of met the owners, they weren't to be seen. First holiday cottage we've not seen the owners, just to say "Welcome and is everything ok" Such a shame that the cottage is very dirty and unkept. We enjoyed the area, beautiful for our dogs and we loved how peaceful it was. We often return to many cottages, BUT NOT THIS ONE!!!!!

Well situated for touring North Wales. The cottage itself needs a really good clean. The garden is great but would really benefit from a small fence to make it secure for the dogs.

Crown Cottage is very well equipped, clean and tidy. Big plus that it's dog-friendly. Love the view from the back of the cottage; we sat and watched the sunset. Would recommend it to friends and family.

This was a lovely cottage with fantastic views, but the hot water was an issue ,our first day we had to wait for the owners to come and check the hot water tap as it was warm ,Mr Williams managed to get the combi boiler to run hot water , this interfered with our day as we got out late and the early winter nights a wasted first day and the owner when he was in the property told us to put the heating on 15 and see how we go hmmm we paid 459 pounds for four days and we had no hot water and wasn't allowed to be comfortable while we stayed there , the hot water situation continued and we had no hot water for our stay and there is a hidden charge ,if you want extra logs other than what is in the cottage you had to leave £6.

00 it was in the contract all fuel included and we wasn't allowed to put the heating up and no hot water also the kitchen cupboards were very dirty and cobwebs everywhere and the windows were not clean, and the cottage looked a lot bigger in the pictures, very small when you arrive and the wardrobes the draws were broken in the twin room and very difficult to open in both rooms, and no cupboard space to put food so all went on the table or window sill so could eat up the tabletogether , all this was a real shame and let down a perfect feel , although there were lots of nice little things left for your arrival ,I don't think I would stay in the winter again it's a bit too cold to have no hot water and the temperature not to be comfortable

This is our 3rd visit to crown cottage and won't be our last the cottage and views are amazing and perfect for our 2 springer spaniels who spent most of the holiday exploring

Our second visit to the cottage and it was a perfect way to spend new year, the cottage has everything you need, it's comfy and cosy, thanks again.

We had a lovely stay at Crown Cottage - its no exageration to say we didnt want to leave!

It's so beautifully set out, and the location - no words can do it justice. We were a little surprised to find that it's actually one cottage split into 2 holiday homes but you wouldn't really know. On arrival, there was a lovely welcome pack, including treats for our dogs. Fresh flowers in all the rooms, a kitchen kitted out with pretty much everything you could ever need. We loved everything about it. Jane & Steve have done an exceptional job here. Without question, the most peaceful & relaxing week we have ever had.

We had a wonderful few days at Crown Cottage.

It was well equipped and a fab home, from home. The location, for us, was perfect. The views were lovely if the countryside and sea, and it was so peaceful. We had everything we needed and would definitely recommend. It would be a little snug for 4 adults, but fine for a family with small children. We were lucky as our neighbours were quiet, so didn’t disturb us. The Crown pub is a 4 minute drive, where we had a delicious lunch. I would definitely return to the cottage and the pub. The little touches made it special, dog biscuits, Welsh cakes, fresh flowers, coffee, tea etc were very much appreciated. Overall a fab first stay in North Wales.

Absolutely gorgeous little cottage.

Had absolutely everything I needed and more. Bed was very comfortable, and I slept really well. This is super important to me as I suffer from chronic pain. The views were amazing no matter what the weather. Great for bird spotting. It's in a quiet village but only a 10 min drive to shops, great dog walks and the coast. Super cosy at night with the log burner on. Had a couple of stunning sunsets, too! Great communication with the hosts. Will definitely return again.

When you look at the picture of the cottage it gives you the impression that you are hiring all the cottage not just part of it apart from that it was a very lovely cottage I think it should mention that they are two cottages

the cottage is amazing a real home from home everything you could possible need is provided even down to dog beds bowls and treats the views are out of this world we have stayed twice now and we will be back again its the most relaxing place to relax and charge your batteries

Crown cottage is snug and warm with every facility you could wish for.

The location is pleasant and quiet though easily accessible. The panoramic lounge widow offers a superb view over the Dee estuary. A few day here offers a real retreat!

Cottage views beautiful very clean.

Beds comfy bedding fresh. Towels tea towels. Extra very thoughtful thank you Even our dogs were included thank you But unfortunately it's not has comfy in the sitting area one sofa is under the tv The another one is meant to be a recliner what does not work no plug we have come for a relaxing winter holiday after working hard. We really need to curl up relax. And just watch TV at night but unfortunately we could not do this so I would say the sitting area is definitely not for four adults even though there was only two of us we could only chill curl up because of the sofas. Sorry to say we had to go out and purchase some Sharp knives to prepare vegetables and cut meat the ones in The Cottage need replacing

The cottage was just perfect, better than we could have imagined.

We didn't want to leave. The owner's had thought of everything even a welcome tray for us and treats for the dogs. Such a beautiful place. We will definitely be booking to stay there again

The cottage was fantastic.

The extras like the dog treats, dog bed, and dog towel ( although we had brought our own ) were a lovely touch. Beautifully clean and comfy. Cannot recommend this place enough

Crown cottage is a really lovely little cottage - very clean and with everything you could possibly want from washing up liquid , dishwasher tablets , soap , logs for the burner to toilet rolls, tea coffee, ketchup etc .

Lovely location close to some fabulous beaches. The view over the fields and to the sea really is outstanding. The only thing to be aware of is that the cottage is semi detached (with Quarry Cottage) which isn’t obvious from the listing though has a separate garden area . The owners are very responsive though we didn’t have any issues at all .

2nd time to this cottage we love it there, peaceful stunning scenery , dog friendly hosts are very helpful if you need advice or anything.

Lovely size garden for the kids and dogs to play in. It’s comfortable, clean and well equipped. It’s in a great location to explore north Wales and Chester. The only thing we didn’t realise is it’s 2 cottages together, and having a reactive dog it could of been a problem. It wasn’t this time. We would definitely come back and recommend

Comfortable beds, clean cottage and lovely views. We have stayed a few times and enjoyed every moment.

The cottage is lovely and in a great location although very small and not one property which Is what I was led to believe from the advert which was very disappointing as my main objective was exclusivity peace and quiet.

Being split has made the property very small inside but the grounds outside are decent although not fenced off on the borders resulting in a dog intruding in to the grounds and unsettling my dog. Sykes are misleading with the advert and this was the first time booking with them and the last unfortunately for them. The property has amazing views and the owner very nice and welcoming. It’s a lovely place just advertised misleading which is very sneaky from Sykes.

Our 6 night stay with our 2 dogs was wonderful, amazing view and some lovely walks that surround the cottage.

However we did not realise that the cottage was not totally detached as the other side of it could also be rented. On our last 2 nights stay we had acquired neighbours who also had 2 dogs, (and a painter and decorater for one day, who was doing work on the other side of the property) this was very unsettling for our dogs to suddenly go from total peace and quiet to having 2 additional dogs & people within the grounds. We felt uncomfortable having the main bedroom blinds and window open as it opened up to a view of their seating area. As the property is basically one property you could also hear when the other flushed the toilet, washed dishes ect. So this did take away from the peaceful isolated theme we were hoping for. We had fantastic weather on our stay and would of liked to dine outside but unfortunately there was no garden table to do so, we did have 2 beaches to admire the view. The kitchen is well equipped however the knive set is not great, they need sharping or replacing. I have recommended Crown Cottage to family and friends and if we were to stay again we would rent the whole property. The little touches from the owner, dog treats, jam and scones were lovely and well appreciated.

An excellent property, well presented in a great location with many places to visit within both a short drive or walk with wonderful views.

Although we had a very pleasant stay, i was unaware this was actually 2 cottages rented out and not just the one before i arrived.

I have looked again at the advertised description and although a slight hint this was not clearly stated!!

Crown cottage is a beautiful, well equipped cottage in the most stunning location.

Our hosts have literally provided EVERYTHING that you could possibly need. They even went so far as to clear all the snow on the path leading to the cottage. The cottage is cosy, clean and welcoming, and the welcome pack is extremely thoughtful and included freshly picked spring flowers. This was our third stay and we can't wait to return.

Crown Cottage is a fantastic, snug place to get away from it all.

Every amenity you could think of in a holiday cottage is provided. It was comfortable in every respect and really very cosy. The large picture window looking over the Dee Estuary ranks as a tourist attraction in its own right! I enjoyed watching the birdlife against the backdrop of dramatic weather. The barn owl is a delight but the kestrel was a real highlight. There are great walking options around the cottage too. The owners are friendly and helpful and take trouble to ensure that it is easy to get in touch with them.

We had a wonderful time at Crown Cottage.

The place is small but comfy and homey, and the views from both the windows and the garden are breathtaking! The 'wild' field right outside the doorstep provided our kids with lots of opportunities to explore independently while still staying safe. We've only seen one rabbit but plenty of birds and bats in the evenings, and the peace and quiet of the area helped us to relax and rest after busy days of sightseeing. The owners were very helpful and welcoming, leaving us a very tasty welcome gift and providing feedback and information we needed (and that includes arranging to ship our forgotten things without much trouble :)). We're already thinking of booking the place for next year!

Lovely welcome tray of goodies and fresh flowers. Property was very clean and super comfortable. Really comfy beds and very nice bedding, really relaxing atmosphere. Everything you could possibly need is thoughtfully provided. Lovely garden and seating area to enjoy an amazing view. We have been to this cottage before and it was even better than we remembered, we will definitely return soon. Absolutely faultless, can't recommend Crown Cottage highly enough.

A wonderful cottage with a view from the large window to die for.

I've stayed 4 times over the last few years, have always felt totally cared for and very content there. Thoroughly recommend.

The cleanliness on arrival was one step up from anything we've experienced- every piece of crockery fresh in the dishwasher.

The welcome pack with flowers was a lovely touch. Well situated for beaches and towns and a good walk to The Crown is worth it. We'll equipped kitchen if you want to cook and eat supper enjoying the fantastic views.

Fabulous dog friendly cottage, home from home, everything you would need, amazing views, clean and very comfortable

The cottage is set in a superb location, easy parking and a large garden, much loved by our dog.

The garden is fairly secure with just open fields to the backside. The view from the lounge window is excellent and entertainment in itself. The beds were comfortable, the shower good pressure and bathroom a good size. The kitchen was well equipped with dishwasher and washing machine. The owner left treats for our dog and some treats for us. I would highly recommend this cottage for pets owners.

It was the best of both worlds, views of the country & views of the sea, which is only a 10 minute drive away. The garden was lovely & a peaceful place to sit & unwind. Will definitely go back.

Crown Cottage is a beautiful cosy place to stay if you'd like some scenic nature and quiet.

The hosts were quick and reliable in their communication, the whole process was very friendly and swift in terms of arranging check in and check out. Everything was covid compliant. The cottage was very clean with all the (welcoming) amenities provided (remember to take your own bathroom products!). The doggy also had treats left for him which was a bonus! Highly recommend for weekend or longer stay, relax outside watching the sun set; stay cosy indoors by the wood fire or make a bbq outside. Thank you

The cottage was beautiful everything was there that you needed, the view from the lounge window was amazing.

The only sad thing was we had to leave a day earlier because the area went into lockdown because of Corbid 19 on the Thursday. We will return.

Crown cottage is a really comfortable cottage.

The facilities are excellent and the owners are most helpful. It is located in a beautiful part of Wales and has a large garden that is brimming with wildlife. The views across the Dee estuary and the sunsets are spectacular. I would however like to express my concerns about how Sykes cottages initially handled the problems arising from the covid pandemic. While I was lucky and able to re-book the holiday, the owners were most helpful, I felt sorry for other holiday makers and the owners who were left in limbo. Sykes Cottages I assume are a management company who I feel let their clients down by initially passing the buck to the holiday let owners who themselves were losing a large amount of income. This is not to detract from my experience where the owners of Crown Cottage did their utmost to make our holiday enjoyable and our stay comfortable. I would highly recommend a stay at the cottage.

Crown Cottage - What a Great Place to Stay!

We recently stayed for 4 weeks in early 2020 and it really is an awesome getaway holiday venue, especially for anyone seeking total relaxation in serene surroundings. On arrival it has a very welcoming feeling, with extra touches such as lovely fresh daffodils and even personalised treats for our dog Olive!! Lots of effort has obviously gone into making sure you have everything you need, although if we did have any queries, Jane and Steve were always just a call away. They also offered a weekly cleaning service which was great and allowed us to focus on our own family holiday time. The cottage is very comfortable indeed, and VERY COZY - We found that the fire was great for evenings cuddled up on the couch and the central heating worked well for day use. The kitchen has everything you need, and make sure to use the toaster - it makes the best "hotel toast" ever! The TV is 4K UHD which was like being in the cinema, and the wifi internet signal is reliable - We took our Amazon Echo with us which worked great with all our favourite music. The bathroom shower is great - a Milan type with the power shower option which ensures you wake-up fully each morning! The view is even better than the photos suggest, and we had lots of fun looking around at the various wildlife. All in all a great stay and we will definitely be back soon. Beautiful cottage everything you needed very warm very clean would definitely book again

This cute little Crown Cottage is perfectly located to explore North Wales, it was great for the two of us with our two dogs.

The cottage was beautifully set out and equipped, We didn’t want for anything, the bed was comfortable and that view was even better in person. Dogs needed to be kept on leads in the garden but it is still awesome. There is lots of great walks directly from the cottage and in the surrounding area. There were people in the adjoining cottage with dogs but we didn’t hear them once. I would definitely recommend this snug cottage it was a super getaway xx

This is a beautiful cottage in a stunning location.

The welcome pack was lovely and included 2 vases of fresh flowers, and dog treats, so very thoughtful. The cottage is clean and homely, and includes everything that you could need from appliances down to washing powder and dishwasher tabs. Nothing was lacking. The beds are extremely comfortable and the bedding is excellent quality. As for the views, they are priceless and as a bonus there are wild rabbits that visit morning and evening. The sunsets are wonderful and can be enjoyed on a comfy bench in the garden. We had a really peaceful and relaxing week, and can't recommend this little slice of heaven highly enough.

Going home very relaxed. The welcome pack was a very lovely touch. The only suggestion i can think off is if you have dogs the garden isnt fenced and could be a problem.. and you defaintley need a car to get about. Apart from that our time here has been wonderful. And really didnt want to go home.

Lovely cottage, in a beautiful location.

Very clean on arrival. Stunning view from picture window in lounge. We did not take our 3 dogs on this trip, and were glad we didn't. In our opinion 3 dogs would have been a problem at this cottage as it is very compact. Plus the garden is NOT secure in any way. One of our dogs is nicknamed 'Houdini' because he can get over a 5 foot fence. There are no fences at this property whatsoever. We would highly recommend this cottage for anyone seeking a peaceful, quiet, comfortable stay, with one or possibly two very well behaved dogs - dogs who will come when you call them! Without dogs, I think this is one of the best small cottages we have ever stayed at.

A Lovely cottage everything you could want and a beautiful area , just to be aware the garden is not fenced with dogs this can be a concern.

The cottage was nicely tucked away from everything else and any big roads so was perfect for relaxing and having some peace & quiet.

Very clean and amazing for dog owners :) Loved the little goodies we found when we arrived like dog treats & cakes. The view from the big window is absolutely stunning! Very cosy, sweet little cottage - can only recommend it. We really enjoyed our stay!

Crown Cottage is a gem, the best views, the best walks, the comfiest beds and sofas.

Don't tell anyone though, because I need it to be free again next time I'm able to go! Can't wait to go back again later this year.

Lovely cottage, we found it comfortable, great garden for dogs.

Directions mention going past the pub , we thought we would be able to walk to it for food , beer garden etc . But it was closed down. The only downside was we had to use the car every day.Would have liked a hair dryer and ironing board . Loved the large picture window.

The hospitality offered by the owners and the beautiful cottage and it's surroundings gave us immense peace and a wonderful retreat.

Who ever set the cottage up as a holiday cottage didn't scrimp on any thing.

Everything in the cottage was clean and of a very good quality. Everything had been thought of to ensure that who ever was on holiday in the cottage had a really good experience. There was even a lovely vase of fresh flowers on the table and a tray with tea making facilities and Welsh cakes. It really was home from home.

Crown Cottage is a beautiful little property to get away for some peace and quiet, particularly if you have a dog or dogs.

It is situated in a lovely spot and the views from the picture window in the cottage are spectacular. the Cottage itself is exceptionally clean and well presented and is equipped with everything you could wish for. This was our visit but it will certainly not be our last. Jane, the properties owner, made,sure that our visit was so enjoyable for my wife and I and of course our little dog.

Lovely cottage, amazing views, very comfortable.

Wasn't too keen on the local beaches - very touristy with lots of caravan sites and Pontins. Recommend going to Conwy and Conwy valley for the day very pretty.

The cottage so wonderful didn't go very far huge picture window to see sunrise and set backing on to a SSI site lots of room for dogs to run and not feel uncomfortable with them in the cottage as set up for doggie friends.

What a fantastic hideaway this cottage is.

Perfect for chilling out with the pooches exploring the vast garden and just listen to the sound of silence. Everything you need is in Crown Cottage. Special thought has been given by the owners to the pooches, welcome treats for the doggies, welcome Prosecco and flowers for humans. Weather has been perfect, cottage has been perfect. It's going to be hard to hand back the keys as we leave today. You will not be disappointed for sure. Hope to return again for a week of mindfulness, peace and relaxation. The doggies say it was Woofly!

We very much enjoyed our week at Crown Cottage.

The accommodation and the location are excellent with great views across farmland and the sea beyond. To top it all, our dog clearly loved his time there. Definitely worth a visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our second visit to this lovely, comfortable and warm cottage in the North Wales countryside.

Our dogs were exhausted by all the walks we enjoyed in the nearby beaches! Already thinking about our next visit!

We booked Crown Cottage very last minute so were unsure of what to expect, but it exceeded our expectations, it was absolutely perfect for the two of us plus our dog Ozzy, Jane and Ste had left fresh flowers and human and doggy treats, we have stayed in many holiday cottages in the past but I have to say that this was the most comprehensively complete.

Absolutely all bases were covered, from dishwasher and washing machine tablets, hand wash and lotions, all cleaning cloths and fluids, boxed tissues, everything was supplied. The views from the lounge were breathtaking, we experienced all weathers during our stay, even snow twice, and to be able to relax in the lounge with the cosy log burner watching the ever changing scenery was bliss. We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks in Crown Cottage, and will be back.

Cottage was very clean and in a great location .

Had all the necessary amenities .slightly smaller than we were expecting but did not detract from our holiday . Overall an excellent place to stay for a short break

This cottage was absolutely fantastic, we are late giving feedback as we were unaware we had to go into our account even though I spoke to an advisor as we really wanted to leave feedback about this lovely little cottage I was told she would send me a feedback form !

!! Now when checking on another booking I found this. Crown Cottage was exceptional ,everything had been thought about even a welcome pack for the dogs, who had the most fab time even when just lazing in the garden. It had everything we could have asked for comfortable and well equipped, we would highly recommend this cottage if you want to see north wales and chester we couldn't fault it. The house was so clean, the TV is huge. The dogs loved it! Beaches for doggies are fairly local too. Would highly recommend this property.
