Ceris

This is our 2nd stay at Ceris and it never disappoints.

It feels like home from home - just turn up and settle in. Everything you need to enjoy a comfortable stay. Beautiful safe garden for the dogs and to relax and unwind. Perfectly placed to explore the area. We would always recommend highly to anyone looking to stay in this area.

This is a lovey bungalow with amazing views out the front window and the train running along the back.

Well equipped bungalow but just needs a bit of tic. Same moans as everyone else. Lighting in back bedroom not good. Front bedroom smells musty / fousty. Cobwebs need getting rid of and the bath/ shower plunger is too stiff. Outside light doesn’t work which was really handy having a black dog at night! Was asked to message when vacated which we did but it would have been nice to receive acknowledgment . Also again back garden wasn’t checked and there was dog poo in the garden from previous people.

Ceris is a wonderfully welcoming bungalow to step into after a long journey; well equipped, clean and comfortable with a lovely garden perfect for the dogs to zoom around and explore.

Our host was very quick to help us with an issue over the heating for which we were grateful. The views out the front are amazing and an ever changing landscape. The trains to the back are an entertaining addition. The area is beautiful and I would recommend walking down the drive and turning left under the railway bridge where there is a network of pathways with beautiful woodland and views of the mountains to explore. The town has shops and pub, takeaways and restaurants in the high street and everyone was friendly that we met. We had a lovely break here and will definitely add Ceris to our favourites and hope to return again. Diolch yn fawr!

Really nice, quiet little property, apart from the very pleasant interruption of the Ffestiniog Railway running at the end of the back garden!

We really enjoyed our stay at Ceris.

It is located in a quite , scenic part of the small town and is a very convenient location to visit the larger local towns and attractions. It is a haven for steam train enthusiasts of all ages, as the Ffestiniog steam railway passes by at the bottom of the garden. We found it to be very clean on arrival and well equipped , the central heating makes it very cosy. The furniture and beds were not as cosy as we would have liked but this is always a thing of personal preference . Would stay again

Lovely property location with the steam trains running past the end of the garden and the lovely views of the estuary/mountain from the front room.

I would agree with other feedback that the property does need a bit of time spending on it, replacing light bulbs, a bit more cleaning, not just a surface clean. The over door needs hanging on the other side as you cannot fully open the door and therefore cannot remove the shelves, and the hot door impedes getting food out of the oven. There are also cobwebs in between the 2 panes of glass on both the oven and grill doors. Finally lots of crockery, however, quite a few plates were chipping and should be replaced.

Nice bungalow, just needs some TLC.

We still enjoyed our stay but there were a few things need sorting. The bushes in the garden need cutting lower to properly see the train passing. The place is full of spiders and webs that have clearly been there a long time. I found a feather duster in the cupboard to get most of them though. The dinning room chairs are really uncomfortable and we had to take our own high chair. I would rather have a washing machine than a dish washer and a line outside. Only an airer to dry swim stuff on. The previous people hadn't cleaned up their dog poo, the garden hadn't been checked. Needs another chair in lounge, we had 4 adults and a toddler. A bbq would be a nice addition. The toilet flush didn't always work. Bedroom wall lamp doesn't work. There were dirty marks on the bedroom carpet which I managed to clean off. Thank you to the owner for fixing the bathroom door hinges, while we were out. Comfy beds and decent shower. The place just needs a good clean and time taken to better prepare and 7 hours should be enough to do that! Really nice neighbour at the lane entrance who helped us find a nice walk. Good location to go exploring, good takeaways in the village, lovely views, garden great for the dogs. Many thanks

Good location, well equipped and welcoming

Wish we could give a good review, the views, trains, area are lovely.

.but the property is terrible, it was dirty, shabby and unkept inside and out...there was dirt and cobwebs everywhere.the beds were like sleeping on concrete, the dinning chairs were uncomfortable too..but the worst was the large holes under the carpets in the bedrooms big enough to put your feet in.Told the owner didn't seem interested. Then before we could leave on our leave date he turned up with a work man to do repairs, the entire place is unkept it's little effort for maximum gain. So sad as could be lovely. Sykes are no help couldn't get to speak to anyone as there's no direct number to do so. We've been booking with them for nine years but will now look for another company sad to say.

A lovely property situated in penrhyndeudraeth.

2 spacious bedrooms and large lounge. A real highlight for the kids was the steam train passing at the bottom of the garden.

Fantastic views over the village from the living room and front bedroom.

A lovely warm little cottage much appreciated with some of the stormy weather we had.

Ceris is a lovely property in a great location for exploring the Welsh coast and Snowdonia.

The bungalow is clean and comfortable and has been modernised to a high standard. It has the added bonus of beautiful views to the front over the valley and a big garden surrounding it which ensures privacy and peace. We loved it and would hope to return sometime.

A lovely bungalow in a very quiet and peaceful location All the facilities were very good and the house was very clean.

Great location for accessing local shops and other tourist attractions and would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful place to other couples. We would definitely like to return

Amazing property would definitely stay again, only thing was the wasp nest on the shed so we kept having to get the kids away from there but other than that beautiful home and garden

This property has everything you require and more, comfortable clean and in a quiet location, the only thing that would definitely be an advantage would be to manage the tree line so the narrow guage trains are more visible, also the lounge would benefit from a larger screen TV.

Fabulous location, views to die for train through the back garden amazing.

Bush outside room window needs chopping down as blocks some of the view, needs more outside seating, slight musty smell in front bedroom but saying all that we would definitely stay again as it's so handy to visit the north of Wales.

Everything you could need. So pleased it was dog friendly, my boys loved the garden. Great walks nearby. Friendly neighbours.

There was a general lack of cleaning materials to keep the house in a clean and hygienic state, eg no anti-bacterial sprat, inadequate tools for cleaning pans, etc. 2. The lighting in the lounge and back bedroom was completely inadequate to permit reading anywhere reasonable in the rooms. 3. There was a general lack of hooks anywhere, eg nowhere to hang tea towels to dry in the kitchen (yet plenty of places to provide them, clothes in the bathroom. 4. A lack of cutlery to facilitate efficient use of the dishwasher - 5 knives, 6 forks, 8 tea spoons) - an extra set of cutlery would pay for itself in a few weeks as it would reduce water and electricity use through fewer cycles of the dishwasher.. 5. The kitchen knives need sharpening! (As pointed out in the feedback in the Visitor Book some time ago!) 6. We were unable to return the keys to the key safe, as the bunch simply prevented that safe from being closed - also, I struggled to open the door on the key safe as the spring was so strong - it should be recognised that older people have less strength in their fingers.!) We had to remove the front door key and put that in the safe and leave the rest of the keys in the house. 7. Waste paper baskets in the bedroom would be beneficial. 8. A hook to hold the back door open when the weather is warm would be appreciated. 9. There was no indication as to what to do with food waste - other properties in the area appeared to have food caddies. It is unacceptable to dispose of food and compostable material in general waste in today’s world! 10. The instructions for the TV were completely inadequate - we spent more time trying to select programmes than actually watching them. We offer these as suggestions, not complaints! We have our own holiday cottage in Cumbria and over many years have realised what makes an adequate property somewhere really comfortable and usable.

Very clean and comfortable.

View from the living room is fantastic. Great garden for our greyhound to run round. Only downside was lack of washing machine and a freezer.

Ceris is a lovely holiday cottage to stay in.

Conveniently close to facilities but out of the way enough to be quiet. The welcome pack of tea coffee sugar milk and Welsh cakes was much appreciated. The only one improvement would be a washing machine.

The property was very good.

The bed linen and towels nice and clean and fresh. Hot water never a problem. Issues with TV which lost its signal but eventually found a solution. When we were there the bins were not collected. The gardens are secure for dogs.

Very pleasant to stay at this property, with most requirements provided.

Good shower, comfortable beds and very clean throughout. Welcome Welsh Scones a lovely touch and very tasty. Information folder a little out of date and lacked that personal touch which other property owners leave. Good weather, but no umbrella for the table, so no shade and lacked outdoor seating, as the picnic table is not comfortable or suited to everyone.

The garden is great size but it needs a step from the patio down to the grass perhaps with a rail/handle.

There isn't a washing machine either so take extra for laundrette in Porthmadog. Had a few issues 1st week and although I called Sykes and owner dealt with things but I'm not sure we'd return. The bottom oven door doesn't open all way and you can't move the shelves in oven. However the beach at black rock sands is dog friendly and goes on for miles, the trains running at bottom of garden were good, the neighbour has a horse roaming between one side and other field which runs along bottom of garden there is fencing and bushes inbetween if you have dogs that are reactive.

Reluctant to review honestly as do not want everyone to be going there.

We had a great stay. Back garden is now secure so dog able to run free.

The front bedroom smelt very damp and fusty/musty.

The back bedroom had a damp patch, in the corner near the window. The showerknob was a bit difficult to pull upwards and water then went every where. Possibly a new shower head required. Other than those issues, we had a very relaxing stay.

The bungalow is very comfortable and well maintained.

It was also very clean and tidy. Therefore a full five star rating from us.

Ceris is a well equipped, spotlessly clean bungalow, with lovely views of the estuary and hills from the front, and occasional steam trains passing to the rear.

We did find the lack of fencing between the front and back of the property a problem with the dog.

The cottage was lovely it was nice to see the train go by and peaceful surroundings.

The only problem was we found the beds uncomfortable and also had to buy a duvet as I am allergic to feathers. The holiday was lovely.

Very pleased with our week at Ceris, would recommend and already have done so. There was only one down side to the cottage, the rear garden is only 90% fully enclosed for dogs. Not a problem for us, but I think if you had a younger, more inquisitive dog, it could well be off exploring. All in all, a brilliant week, great location with matching views. Many thanks.

The cottage is in a pleasant and quiet location, well laid out and with all the facilities you could require.

The wifi speed and performance was excellent. Visitors should be aware there are some single track, narrow roads on the approach to the cottage from the village. The one niggle was the shower - this was an mixer style tap without a thermostatic value which mean it was difficult to get a comfortable, consistent temperature. The mechanism to select the shower rather than taps was also stiff and difficult to operate.
