Castle View

Lovely view across the sea/estuary to Conwy castle.

Nearly at sea level so no hilly walks to return to. Railway platform 4-5 min walk, easy access to many places. Small beach for the dog just past the platform alo g the path from rail crossing. Lovely beach short drive through Conwy, Conwy Morfa beach, free parking plus small café.

I had a peaceful, relaxing, enjoyable short break at Castle View.

The accomodation is tastefully decorated with some nice personal touches that gave it a homely feel. It was clean and is well equiped with everything you need to enjoy your holiday. I had to contact the owner with a small query and she responded immediately and was really helpful and kind [thank you]. Castle View is in a lovely location with stunning views. There are many beautiful walks locally, the scenery takes your breath away. It was just brilliant for both myself and my little dog. Shops and a pub are a short walk away. I have been coming to the area for years so know it well but there is plenty of information at the property if you are looking for things to do. I had a lovely time and would return.

We spent a long bank holiday weekend at Castle View which we really enjoyed.

Communication with the owner was good. The lounge furniture is comfortable with extra cushions. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed for 3 of us, & views on to the small garden with opening patio doors on warmer days. The main bedroom is spacious and comfortable. The single bedroom is small and probably suit a child. The owners were about to do some building work. Some things may be different/improved for future guests, so some minor niggles will likely be resolved. Deganwy has very regular trains to Llandudno which we used on one of the days. The estuary is pretty with plenty of seats along the walkway. We did the coastal walk to Llandudno and also climbed up to Deganwy Castle ruins - views are amazing.

Just returned from a 3 night break at Castle View with the dog.

Lovely warm cottage with everything you need for a homely stay. Enjoyed the outstanding views of the harbour and castle opposite and the location to the train station just over the road. Would definitely love to visit again.

A lovely property.

Clean, warm, comfortable and in a good location. Good views. (Could do with a couple of hooks in the bathroom for bath towels).

We were immediately impressed by the overall standard of decoration and cleanliness.

There is indeed a view of Conwy Castle from the upstairs front bedroom, and the rest of the view is also quite spectacular. There were a couple of minor issues on arrival but a quick phone conversation with the owner resolved the problems. Another small niggle was the kitchen lighting which, without under cupboard illumination, means you stand in your own shadow from the ceiling lights. The location is very pretty overall, although during our dates the closure of the a short section of the main road (A546) between our accommodation and Deganwy village interfered a little. Diversions were available though and we soon got used to it. Deganwy village is small but has all the normal local amenities, especially the very hospitable and dog friendly Tea Station café. Similarly we would recommend the Castle View pub, also dog friendly, just a short distance away, who serve delicious, generous meals. We don't often make return visits to our holiday accommodation, preferring to experience different locations, but we might make an exception here.

I stayed in this cottage in mid July and while it was a really nice stay overall I think some improvements could be made.

The bath plug didn’t work. It just wouldn’t stay in no matter how I tried. A cold bath would have been lovely in the middle of a heatwave. The shower water pressure is terrible too. There is no mirror in front of the sink. How men are able to shave in that sink, I don’t know. The patio furniture is very uncomfortable. You can’t relax in tall and low backed seats that are more like bar stools. The garden could also do with some tidying up.

The only issue was the single bed mattress which was unsupportive / soft and squeaked every time I moved

The single bed was very old and extremely uncomfortable, the setee should of been replaced yrs ago, no comfort whatsoever, the armchair was the same, i think the bath plug wasn't designed to keep water in because an electric shower was over the bath.

If i see a bath in a holiday house, i should be able to use it as a bath. All i just said ruined my holiday even though the house, views and surroundings are very nice.

We really enjoyed our stay at Castle view and the house had everything we needed for a two week stay.

Very close to all amenities and the view to Conwy and the Castle lit up of an evening is beautiful. I contacted the owners with a few queries and they responded straight away. I would recommend Castle View to anyone thinking of staying in Deganwy

A lovely place, with fantastic views and in a great location.

We stayed over Christmas and the owners had decorated, with a Christmas tree and cute little decorations.

I love this place!

I have just returned from my second visit and can’t wait to go back. The views are amazing and there are wonderful walks from the doorstep. It is an easy walk into Conway and there is a supermarket close by. Perfect location.

We had a lovely week here.

Very comfortable beds and recliner sofa. Nice little garden to sit outside and a sunny deck out front. All the home comforts. It has a perfect location for exploring all that North Wales has to offer: Conwy, Llandudno, parts of Snowdonia and Anglesey. And a very dog friendly area too - nearly everywhere allows dogs so we all had a fabulous holiday. Thank you!

Very nice place location was excellent just a few small maintenance jobs could be done.

Generally comfortable and clean, although hot water system needs updating.

Windows were very dirty. Loose paving slab in front of entrance, inner door handle jamming, washing machine in need of a thorough clean.

The seating was especially comfortable.

The view from the house across the estuary and towards Conwy was excellent. Everything was in good order.

Loved it. Lovely walks for the dog and Conway so close. As a last minute booking it was just what we needed after a disaster on Anglesey

We had a lovely stay at Castle view.

The property was clean and comfortable. Nice quiet area with lovely walks to the beach. The first two days we had glorious weather so we enjoyed sitting on the sun terrace. Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worse, however it was nice to come back to the lovely Castle view after a wet day. My dog enjoyed himself too. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely home in a perfect position for coastal walks.

We would have liked firmer mattresses on the beds, but still slept well, must be the sea air !!!! It's certainly a property we will use again. Thank you to the owners for making it such a good holiday home

Lovely accommodation. Just few shortfalls. Only one bedside light. Pillows on bed low quality. Others visitors had said certain things needed fixing, re stove light.... but not replaced. For safety purposes, needs a hand rail in bath as shower over bath. Also be good to have one to step out from bath on right of wall. Hard running a place as we well know having done it for years. Good luck to the owners.

The facilities at the house are good.

The cleaning of it not so good, the maintenance needs attention. The light over cooker in the extractor fan does not work,will not switch on,also outside light for back garden needs replacing .Thought it needed a new bulb but on inspection was in need of new lamp due to it being broken for some time. The toaster tray at bottom had not been emptied for quite a while,also dustpan for inside house was filthy looked like it had been used outside.also draws in freezer when removed were dirty underneath. Sykes put in their paperwork to us that the house is deep cleaned for guests but not as expected. Bed linen clean and comfortable also towels etc. plenty of hot water crockery also good. Back garden also not so good needs a good clean.

A nice little house in a good location.

Our welcome pack was thoughtful and appreciated, thank you. On first entering the house appeared clean. Unfortunately some aspects were not up to the standard we expected. The white curtains in lounge are very dirty. We moved the armchair to fit a dog bed in, the floor behind and under the furniture had not been swept, revealing bits of old food and small dog toys, (these were left in the house). The shower head has black mould on it. The bathroom fan is filthy. The back patio was dirty with dog poo and litter. I had to clean this up before I could allow my dogs outside. Not a very nice welcome. Stripping the bed down on leaving revealed a stained mattress protector and rubbish under the bed. I have photos of the curtains, shower head, fan, stained bedding and under bed. The sofa has been well used and you sink right into the left seat. Sofa also needs a good clean. The rear outside light does not work. The focal center of the lounge is a very large clock. Unfortunately this was not working either. The literature in the house says a spare set of keys are in the cutlery drawer. They were not there so we had to separate the keys on the keyring in order to be able to open both doors. It is such a shame that these little matters could not have been better managed as this could be a fabulous place to stay.

The house was very clean and comfortable with everything you needed The location is a perfect base for exploring the beauty of North Wales Two points which require some maintenance The silicone round the bath needs to be replaced and at the rear of the house the garden needs some attention to make it comfortable for sitting outside Apart from that One of the best properties we have stayed in and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday

The welcome tray of snacks was much appreciated after our journey there. A good location for walking to Conwy and Llandudno along the coastal path. Very pleased with our stay, highly recommended.

Would have been helpful to have chocks for the car. Instructions for the hob didn’t help, seemed to be indicating the wrong button (we had to go to YouTube).

Lovely property and ideal location

This is a lovely property, well laid out and tastefully decorated.

Good modern flooring and furniture. I do think that more detail about the difficulty and steepness of the parking space and steps to the property should be empathised more in the property description.. I would only recommend this property to the younger, fitter clients. My husband, 73 plays golf three times a week and is generally fit, but he found loading and unloading the car really difficult whilst battling the gradient. It is a real struggle trying to get in and out. Nice stay but glad to be back on level footing.

A lovely property in a very pleasant area in Deganwy.

The house was well equipped but there were a couple of drawbacks for us which we should have noted before booking. The first one was the steepness of the parking and the steps up to the house and, more importantly for us as we are quite elderly, was the lack of a downstairs toilet. Finally, if one were to use the rear entrance to the house, for which keys were provided, I feel a handrail up the back steps is lacking and the steps themselves require some maintenance.

The instructions for access were clear and unloading was easy but via 8 steps.

However it should be noted that the drive is on quite a steep slope which might be a problem for some individuals. The house was in a quiet neighbourhood (late June) with little or no disturbance despite the nearby railway and main road. There were good views of the nearby hills, the river and the castle from the front bedroom and the decked area adjacent to the front door. The double bed was soft but tolerable with our own toppers. We did not use the single bed so cannot comment. There is no gas in the property and the heating, hot water and the shower were electric. We did not use the heating so cannot comment. The hot water is from a hot water tank with an immersion heater and was very good. The shower was also perfectly adequate with a reasonable flow. The towels were a bit small compared to other properties we have used and we did not find an information folder with instructions for appliances etc. There was some information on local attractions. The TV was good with both Netflix and Amazon Prime included. We thought Deganwy was an excellent location for visiting the area. There was a fish and chip shop 1-2 minutes on the main road to Llanduno Junction. At Llanduno jumction there were supermarkets and access to the NorthWales Expressway. There is an M&S at Llanduno but parking costs £2.50 per hour. Lots to do in the area and we would return to the area and the property in the future it we have time.

Very clean and comfortable property situated in a quiet area.

Well appointed with everything needed for your stay.

The parking is there BUT it is difficult because the space is on a severe gradient which makes getting in an out of the car a struggle and there were always cars parked opposite which hampered the access and exit.

One reason for us choosing Castle View was the enclosed garden and grass area as we have a small dog. However you need to be very fit and agile to access this area. The steps are steep and without an adequate handrail.The upper steps are hazardous with loose gravel. If we hadn’t had the company of a young person with us we could not have cleaned up after our dog. Internally the property did better. The kitchen needs slightly more than pots and pans ….such as a few casserole dishes.and a dishwasher would have been preferable to the large freezer which we never used. Upstairs is comfortable but the single bedroom has no hanging rail and only 1 hook…..definitely not to our daughters liking.The same goes for the bathroom. Fantastic shower but a grab rail to aid getting in and out of the bath would be a great idea. It’s the first bathroom I’ve been into that has not even one hook on which to hang one’s clothes……and the lock fell out and had to be pushed back into place on numerous occasions. On the positive side the beds and linens are excellent.As is the lounge and dining ares. I would suggest that this property is not ideal for anyone with mobility or balance problems.

Very comfortable and in a great position for walks etc. Would definitely book again but a few things let it down. Mould around the bath and the pull chord for the shower hard to switch off. Info not clear for bin being emptied , we put it out but wasnt emptied. The back yard needs a good clean and the tidy. The steps not very safe but didn't need to use that entrance so not a problem for us. No starter pack of coffee pods for machine as stated so we couldn't use it as didn't know what they looked like which was disappointing. Hope to return very soon

A well equipped and very tidy property.

We loved the week we spent at Castle View. It is in a great position with lovely views and is ideal for walks and exploring North Wales

Absolutely adored this holiday home, myself and the children miss it already.

We had the best Easter break with memories to treasure. The property provided everything we needed-even Netflix! It was spotless and was ideally located central to many surrounding areas. We hope to be back very soon.

Lovely little cottage.

Ideal for exploring North Wales. Only thing missing is a rug for lounge and carpet in bedrooms. I'm old fashioned and don't like standing on a cold hard floor in middle of night when I have to get up to use the loo.

More local information leaflets would be useful also for the cooker.

Be aware there is no hairdryer, but Asda do a a great one for under £10! Otherwise it was a lovely property with lovely views, we would recommend this property.

Positives and negatives It was well situated to access Snowdon and the surrounding area, with Deganwy Castle right behind you, area is great for walking especially with a dog.

Train station was great and 200m away(access to many areas) Local pub was closed 5 days of the 7 we were there which was rubbish, and the other eateries were not dog friendly! The house was ok clean and comfortable, be interested to see the cost this 2 up 2 down prior to lockdown!! Bath had mould around it which is not good and the oven and extraction hood were covered in grease so we wouldn’t use it!!! Small issues that could be easily put right!! We had a great time as did the dog, weather was typically Britishi and rained!! Area is still subject to lockdown rules!

We had a fabulous holiday and this cottage was excellent.

It had everything we needed, was clean and comfortable and was tastefully furnished. It was situated near Conwy and Llandudno and easy access to Snowdonia. We visited Padarn Lake in Snowdonia and Benllech Beach in Angelesey which were stunning places and our cockapoo Teddy loved the swimming there. The beach at Deganwy nearest the cottage is dog friendly (Just across then road past the station). Teddy enjoyed the garden at Castle View which was a perfect place to relax in the evenings. We will most definitely be returning.

The place was spotlessly clean in a fabulous location, very quiet, but close enough to all the places to visit, walking distance to Conwy and abou two miles from llandunno and one mile from the expressway to all places to visit would strongley recommend this place, thank you

The property was well furnished One suggestion we had difficulty using the cooker , a manual or instructions would be appreciated.

So use to digital ovens etc could not fathom out the switches. Had a microwave which was perfect. A lovely holiday in these difficult times. This is the second Sykes property we have had, last year Shrewsbury and we will certainly use again you again

Castle view was perfect for our small family, very clean throughout.

The property has a great location with Conwy and Llandudno on your door step, it's fair to say we will be back!
