Fantastic place to stay in the heart of North Wales.

The property was full of everything you needed and really clean. The EV charging network in Wales is not the best and as we did a lot of day trips the EV charger was extremely useful and powered our journeys. The property in situated near the top of a hill from which there is amazing views of the coast. The road leading up to the property is quite narrow but was fine as there is hardly any traffic up and down so not really an issue. If we could have wanted anything probably just a vacuum cleaner as with a couple of kids under 10 they can be a little messy. Can’t recommend the property enough, and we did have a little care package upon arrival of biscuits, cakes and tea!

We loved this cottage.

It is in a great location, down hill from a beautiful view over the Menai straight. Well positioned to explore the local area. Everything we needed in the kitchen, comfortable beds. It was a lovely stay!

House met expectations and more.

Beautiful location and views, and we enjoyed walking onto the nearby moor. Easy access to Caernarfon, and the Snowdon and Welsh Highland Railways. EV charging at the house convenient and much appreciated. Owners next door friendly but discreet. Don’t be put off by mention of narrow road to the house, we preferred accessing from the south via Bontnewydd and Rhostryfan and had no problems.

We had a lovely weeks stay at Hen Gapel with our 2 dogs during a heatwave, the house was clean and spacious and the kitchen was very well equipped, an empty cupboard would've been handy to store our food supplies in for the week.

The owner was on hand next door if we needed anything, we did request a fan as the accommodation was very hot, he kindly ordered 2 new ones and gave them to us later the same day which was fantastic. We used the electric car charger which was very convenient (you just need to check with the owner if you want to charge overnight as he uses it too). With regards to the garden, I knew from the cottage details that it wasn't enclosed and several guests had already pointed this out and said it wasn't ideal for dogs. It would've made the holiday so much more relaxing if the garden was enclosed and is such an easy thing to do, I hope the owner will take these comments on board and sort this out. The road leading to the cottage is narrow with passing places and we did have to reverse several times on our journey to and from the cottage which is something to bear in mind if you're not a confident driver. Views from the cottage are outstanding.

Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Lovely modern property. Great little welcome basket on arrival. Stunning views from the house. Owners were very helpful and super friendly. We wouldn't hesitate to book again and hopefully will very soon.

The Hen Gapel Annex is a simply wonderful base to explore part of North Wales.

Very comfortable and plenty of room with remarkable views. The beds were really good, the kitchen has everything you need and there is an excellent shower, perfect after a day exploring. If I had one moan, and this is not the fault of the hosts or the house, the road up to the property is narrow. We certainly would recommend and will return.

The accommodation is perfect, super clean, private and was a great based to explore Caernarfon and the surrounding area. There was nothing we found missing from the property that could have improved our stay, we loved it and would certainly return when back in the area.

It was a beautiful property, very clean and of a high standard.

We didn't want to leave. It is an ideal location for visiting Eryri or Anglesey. The Velux windows provide wonderful views both sides (and also have good blackout blinds).

I hesitate to rave about Hen Gapel in case we can't book easily in future, but it would be unfair not to.

.. This property is a peach - dog friendly, ultra clean, oozing style and with delightful and discreet owners who could not try harder. It is also better equipped than my own home! We loved the views from the windows over to snow-capped mountains and the super scenic walks from the door - worth the edgy drive up the single track road to get there. Can't wait to book again in the autumn. ( Fingers crossed!)

We spent a very comfortable and cosy week at Hen Gapel.

The views were fantastic and it is the perfect base to explore this part of Wales. Pub down the road is highly recommended and a trip over to Plas Newydd is a great way to spend an afternoon. The house had everything we needed and the welcome hamper was very welcome. Everyone slept well and the great WiFi signal was appreciated by the younger members of the family. We will certainly be back.

The house is warm, comfortable and homely. The beds were great, rooms spacious, shower lovely and powerful and views fanrastic. There was an amazing welcome basket on arrival. The house is extremely well equipped and we wanted for nothing. The owners were next door and so lovely and friendly but not at all intrusive (we met them on the drive) Plenty of space to park, great instructions and communication. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Thank you

We had a perfect 5 night stay at Hen Gapel.

The property is absolutely lovely inside, beautifully clean and all the furnishings are of high quality. We went out walking every day and cooked dinner each evening on returning 'home.' The owners have thought of everything, there was nothing we needed that wasn't provided. Thank you so much! We'd definitely stay again.

An excellent holiday cottage in all respects.

Clean, deceptively spacious , comfortable, well equipped, good parking, and great views (weather permitting). We found it an ideal base for exploring the Snowdonia area, with so much to see and do within a 20 mile radius. We recommend the local pub next to the railway station, and another further up the valley at Rhyd Ddu is very good as well. We're definitely coming back again soon, loads more places to visit and sights to savour. Dave and Cate.

Lovely quiet location, approx 1 mile out of the village up a steep single lane road with passing places, but road is quiet only met 1 other car the week we were there.

Amazing views, Snowden from back garden, Over Menai Strait and Caernarfon plus Castle from front roadside. Cottage is very clean and comfortable with lovely spacious rooms, wifi, bath and seperate shower cubicle. 15 mins to Llanberis, 10-15 mins to Caernarfon, 30 mins to Beddgelert, 40 mins to Bangor or Porthmadog. Excellent base for touring the various places round about. We were lucky rain on day arrived then rest of the week was lovely sunshine, which for late September was a bonus. Dog freindly but be warned the garden is not securely enclosed , easy acces to fields and roads around, our furry freind is not great at recall so we either kept her on a lead or made more secure with a dog pen. We would definitely stay her again next time we come back to the area.

We had a lovely stay at Hen Gapel.

It was clean, cosy and very well equipped. A short walk and we had great views over to Caernarfon, Anglesey, 'Elephant Mountain' and more, also from the property Moel Eilio. We took the bus twice to walk start points Cwellyn Arms and Snowdon Mountain Ranger Youth Hostel to walk back to the property over Mynydd Mawr 'Elephant Mountain' and Moel Eilio respectively. We also visited Newborough Warren on Anglesey, Caernarfon and Beddgelert (lovely walk along the river and over the low hills). Good ideas for places to visit came from talking to Edgar and Gudrun and from leaflets and books at the property. There are lots of others places to visit we didn't have time for. Car charging was very useful and easy.

Had a fantastic stay at Hen Gapel as a party of 4 adults and a dog.

A great base for getting about and exploring the area with fabulous views too. The property is clean, modern and has everything you could possibly need. A Welsh welcome basket greets you on arrival which is a lovely touch. We were all a bit sad to be leaving really. We could have happily stayed longer.

Great week at Hen Gapel, clean, clean, comfortable, well equipped and in a lovely location with superb views within a few minutes walk.

The owners were very helpful when needed and the bonus of an EV charging point was appreciated. Thoroughly recommend and would book again.

Cons : Listed as suitable for dogs.

Its not. The garden is open. Our dogs had to be kept on leads all the time they were outside. Polished wood floors and stairs, not good for dogs. Pros: immaculately clean property. HUGE TV.

An amazing 2 bedroom, modern property which was very clean, well designed, nicely furnished and had everything you could need.

Out in the countryside but within easy reach of Anglesey and North Wales attractions. Hosts welcoming and made contact prior to visit but you do need a car. Would strongly recommend a visit.

Hen Gapel is a beautiful property with wonderful views.

It’s within easy reach of so many activities and fun day outs and the owners are on site for any advice. Perfect place for a family of four (with young children) to explore the area.

We had a wonderful time at Hen Gapel, it was truly really lovely, and everything you could ask for.

The property is beautifully decorated and clean, has great views, lots of natural light, a good garden and is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The owners are also super friendly and made it very clear they were happy to help if we had any questions or problems during our stay. The location was perfect for us, and offers a comfortable and relaxing stay while exploring Snowdonia, with Anglesey also not far away. We would couldn’t recommend Hen Gapel enough, and we hope to return one day. A huge thank you to Edgar and Gudrun!

The house is beautiful, with everything you need. The owners, who live next door, are thoughtful in the things they provide for your stay. The property is outstanding, and so enjoyable to stay in. The views are beautiful from the house in a lovely location. They even gift you a large jar of their own delicious honey.

Superb, cosy, comfortable cottage.

Spotlessly clean. Quality furniture and soft furnishings. Huge Smart TV! Ideal base for exploring North Wales with fabulous dog walks on the doorstep. Loved the little welcome basket full of goodies. The little garden area was perfect for our dog to have a sniff round, my only suggestion would be that the garden is secure so I could let my dog off the lead. However, this did not detract from our wonderful stay.

Amazing holiday experience. Friendly owners. Their dog is very adorable. Welsh cake, tea bags, chocolate biscuits and owners' made honey were provided. Very clean throughout the property, no squeaky floor or stairs. Great TV and speaker. We could not work out how to use the oven. However, the owner quickly came to help us use it. Very responsive and helpful owners. One potential negative side could be that this property is on top of the hill but this allowed this property to have an amazing view from living/dining room and bedrooms. All rooms are very relaxing. A nice walk/hike route (Rhosgadfan Circular) on AllTrails is very close from this property (about 3 minutes walk).

Lovely, cosy and extremely well appointed accommodation, situated in a beautiful hilltop setting overlooking Caernarfon Castle, the Menai Straits and the whole of Anglesey on a clear day, with heathland walks right on the doorstep, great for dogs as well as humans!

The great welcome basket of local Welsh goodies was a very nice touch. Edgar, the owner was a really nice guy and the honey he produces from his bees was beautiful, and we bought a couple of extra jars off him to bring home for our family. All in all a lovely relaxing week in the heart of Snowdonia. Les & Elly and the dogs.

Beautiful location, and property was very well considered to cater for couples and families alike.

Lots of space inside and out, and prob high on peoples list - shower was good, and beds were super comfy. Lots of information was provided to make the holiday the best, and all the amenities you could need were provided (apart from pint glass for the beers :) ) If coming back to the area we would definitely consider rebooking. This house is an excellent holiday house for families.

It’s very clean and well equipped. Would like to thank Edgar and his wife for providing us with a dog crate. It save us some space in the car not having to bring our own. We appreciate it very much. Also, Edgar is a lovely guy, communicated with me clearly even before the start of our holiday and made sure that we are alright. Will definitely book this holiday house again in the future.

Edgar was a thoughtful and kind host and helpful with any questions we had.

Accommodation is superb and maintained to a very high standard, with all amenities provided for. Lovely views and walks from the doorstep. Cannot rate high enough!

Obviously the owners have spent a lot of time and money on getting this property to such an incredibly high standard.

Spotlessly clean and very tasteful and stylish property with superb views of Snowdon to the rear and Anglesey to the front (from the bedrooms and the low windows frame the view perfectly) it could not be in a better spot. It is dog friendly but the rear garden is not secure so we took a long tether. The kitchen area is very well equipped and all items appear to be new and high quality. Lovely welcome pack provided. Good communication with friendly hosts in the main house. The walk to the local pub is down a very steep hill. Ok going down but you need to be super fit to get back up! Definitely going back next year if it’s not fully booked.

A fabulous accommodation, especially if you want to get away from it all.

A wonderful welcome pack from the owners awaited us in a beautifully decorated and immaculately clean property. Loved our stay here, very comfortable with a bonus of great weather. We do agree with another guest's comment that the garden needs to be fully enclosed at the end for a dog, but a minor point really and it wouldn't put us off staying here again. Thank you to the owners for such a great place, we loved our week in North Wales as a result.

Lovely property and friendly host.

Welcome pack was fantastic, good range of products provided. Cottage in an ideal situation for exploring Snowdonia National Park and Anglesey. The only issue was that the garden is not fully enclosed from the adjacent property. With a young dog this did mean we needed to keep her on the lead outside. We would still recommend this property, however, as this was only a minor issue as out all day exploring.

Hen Gapel is a charming, clean and brilliantly equipped accommodation ideally located for adventures in and around Snowdonia.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and the owners were somehow both completely attentive and completely unobtrusive; generous, welcoming and in short, the perfect hosts. Thank you so much for such a perfect holiday!

We recently stayed at Hen Gapel and I would not hesitate to stay again/ recommend the property.

The owner was very communicative and provided lots of information before our arrival. The property is beautifully presented, finished to a very high standard and was impeccably clean. We were able to relax in comfort even on the coldest nights. The use of an electric car charging point (very reasonably priced) was an added bonus. I was able to contact the owner throughout my stay to arrange charging and anything else which was required. This property is ideal for anybody wishing to explore Snowdonia. Our 2 dogs loved exploring the local beaches (Black Rock Sands Beach is 25mins by car and your dogs will love it!!). The welcome pack on arrival included some honey produced by the owners bees. We were also able to purchase some to take home. This trip was planned as part of our annual dual birthday/doggy holiday and we have thoroughly enjoyed staying here even though the weather was not ideal.

We loved everything about our stay at Hen Gapel - from the warm welcome, the comfort of the cottage, the location.

The cottage is extremely well designed both in terms of warmth, lighting and visual appeal. The kitchen is well equipped. The beds were so comfortable. It sits on a hillside overlooking mountains on one side and the sea on the other. We will hopefully visit again. Thank you both for the hospitality.

The views from the property on a clear day were stunning. The property was very close to the nearby town of Caernarfon, which had all the amenities you could need. Such a clean, well equipped house in an amazing location.

Hosts were spot on with everything including a great welcome pack. Can’t fault anything, it really was worth the long drive drive to go and enjoy such a beautiful area. The house is in the middle of nowhere which is bliss but a 10 minute drive away from civilisation. We were the first people to stay at this property and I hope many more get to enjoy it.
