Indoor Climbing in North Wales

Indy Climbing Wall


Best for: Rainy days and family days out

Looking for a rainy day activity in North Wales? Look no further than Indy Climbing Wall in Llnfairpwllgwyngyll. Indy is a fabulous indoor climbing centre.

With over 30 belays,  25 top ropes and over 65 Boulder routes, it’s the perfect place to start your climbing journey! This colourful climbing centre is full of routes. There is a great kids climbing area with lower-level climbs including Top Rope ( if you’re feeling confident enough) routes and easier Bouldering routes to get you started!

Indy Climbing Wall also specialises in kids and adult climbing clubs, helping you improve your skills!

If heights aren’t your thing,  there is even a little cafe where you can get a panad and relax.


Brecon Climbing Centre

Best for: Indoor Boulder routes, Overhangs and Lead- climbing practice

Brecon Climbing Centre is the perfect place to get practice in before you take on those large climbs outside!

The Rock climbing centre has several rooms containing bouldering problems, top-rope climbs and even a kids climbing gym containing 15 different climbs for the little ones to try! These walls have fully automated belay systems which makes it perfect for younger or newer climbers as the system will automatically lower you down meaning that you can take as much or as little time as you like!

For you avid climbers out there, you can try a number of overhang problems, top-rope climbs or even test your skills with the Kilter Board! The Kilter Board is compatible with all phones and helps you build and train your arms, legs and core. You can program different climbs into the app and the rocks on the wall will light up. How cool is that?

You must take a boulder or top rope induction before you can use the equipment by yourself. Inductions are 1.5 hours and start from £45

The Boathouse Climbing Centre

Best for: Variety & fun!

The Boathouse Climbing Centre is a quirky old RNLI building! The centre has over 200 square meters of climbing wall including a large bouldering wall that is 4.5 meters high. Their climbing tower wall is 8 meters high and has lots of different climbing routes and grades including lead climbs, top rope, and  2 Auto Belays. The climbing centre is perfect for all ages and all route grades are accommodating to beginners and experienced climbers.

Once you have tired your hands out, why not try their Human Rat Run!  The Rat Run is an exciting indoor caving experience. You will be crawling 6m above ground! Squeeze through gaps and work as a team to complete the challenge!


Rock Climbing in North Wales

The Mot

Best for: Experienced climbers with their own equipment

With beautiful views and a spread of grades and styles, ‘The Mot’ is one of the best places to climb outdoors in North Wales.

This is one for the experienced climbers. ‘Dinas Mot offers a fantastic Welsh mountain-cragging experience;  There are a variety of routes for all strengths and levels.

Make sure to pack your ropes, carabiners, helmet and guidebook…

Directions to The Mot:

Park at the Cromlech boulders and walk up the hill.  Prepare yourself for some beautiful views!


Anglesey Adventures

Best for: All abilities

Venture up towards Holyhead where you will find Anglesey Adventures! Join one of their fantastic climbing days which are perfect for the whole family.

You will start your day with a safety brief, you will learn safety skills such as: putting on a harness, how to tie different climbing knots and how to climb safely. You will then be all geared up and ready to take on the cliffs at the Breakwater Country Park in Anglesey!

There are so many different climbs for all abilities. When you reach the top, you will be blown away by the stunning views of the Anglesey coast!

Prices:

  • Half Day – Meeting time of 9.30am or 1.30pm – £50 per adult / £35 per child (under 16)
  • Full-Day – Meeting time of 9.30am – £80 per adult / £50 per child (under 16)
  • Family half-day rate – £140 for two adults and two children (under 16)
  • Family full day rate – £240 for two adults and two children (under 16)

Climb Wales

Climb North Wales is based in the heart of Snowdonia. Not only do they offer Rock Climbing, but they also offer an exciting range of outdoor activities including mountaineering,  Scrambling, Caving, Coasteering and Gorge-Walking!
