“We have just returned from a weeks holiday in this cottage, we found the location perfect with easy access to the beach, the rough track up to the property wasn't as bad as we thought it would be reading previous reviews, yes it's bumpy, but we've had worse, there was a lady up the lane who sold chutney, pickled onions and the best strawberry jelly I've ever tasted, we bought something of everything and all for charity.”

Beddgelert is a beautiful village in Snowdonia, the Fudge shop sells home made fudge in various flavours, the crumbly fudge is gorgeous. The biggest disappointment was the log burner in the cottage, it was unusable when we arrived completely black with soot, you couldn't see through the glass, I cleaned it out thoroughly and it still smoked us out the first night, I again cleaned it thoroughly, I got loads of soot out of the chimney, but then we just gave up with it because it smelled do ...

Beddgelert is a beautiful village in Snowdonia, the Fudge shop sells home made fudge in various flavours, the crumbly fudge is gorgeous. The biggest disappointment was the log burner in the cottage, it was unusable when we arrived completely black with soot, you couldn't see through the glass, I cleaned it out thoroughly and it still smoked us out the first night, I again cleaned it thoroughly, I got loads of soot out of the chimney, but then we just gave up with it because it smelled do strongly of soot, the chimney is well overdue for being cleaned, This was very disappointing as at this time if year an open fire or log burner is definitely a decider in our choice of Cottage, we have been on at least a dozen Sykes holidays and this is the first time I have had cause for complaint. The owner of the property did not contact us before, during or after our holiday. The range cooker was not very efficient, the main oven took an age to cook anything, the small cooker to the side was better, not all the gas rings worked. The lounge could do with some pictures or ornaments, it looks very sparse, upstairs looks very tired, I feel that they haven't done anything to this cottage for a long time and are just cashing in on it's location. Overall I would not in good conscience be able to recommend this cottage to family or friends until the problems that I have highlighted had been addressed

We are so sorry to hear you had problems with the fire and cooker we were unaware of these issues. We have now got both of these problems in hand . Thank you also for your other comments we are always glad to have feed back from our guests. We will be looking at your suggestions and certainly be giving the upstairs a refresh . Apologies once again for your problems. Owner relations

About the location

PENTRAETH

Red Wharf Bay 2 miles; Benllech 3 miles; Beaumaris 6 miles.

Pentraeth is a small attractive village on the banks of the River Nodwydd on the north-east coast of Anglesey. It has a village church that dates back to the 12th century and is located between Llanddona beach and Red Wharf Bay, which has over 4.5 miles of sandy beach. Red Wharf Bay’s Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and provides safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. The large bay attracts a huge number of waterfowl and wading birds, including shell duck, grey plover, purple sandpipers, curlew, oystercatchers and dunlin. Only 6 miles away is the delightful medieval town of Beaumaris which boasts a 13th century moated castle, excellent shops, pubs, restaurants, bistros and museums, as well as a golf course and exciting pleasure boat and sea fishing trips. This is a great location on the east coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, yet only six minutes from the Britannia Bridge to access the mainland.

Note: As with many of our rural properties, access is by a track, which can be rough in places
