“This is a beautiful cottage in the heart of the village.”

The kitchen was well equipt with everything we needed. The cottage was very clean and characterful. The contact email given was quick and helpful to respond to any queries we had (This was only about rubbish collection we didn't want to miss ) The garden and furniture with the river views were comfortable and relaxing after long walks. Might be worth in the summer having some citronella candles though or spray. The walks from the door are spectacular and we never moved the car all week ...

“Absolutely perfect cottage, booked it for a week this year after having our honeymoon there last year, booked again for next year.”

Great location, lots of wonderful places to eat, chill and walk. The cottage is very well equipped, spacious, yet has a very cosy feel to it, the river at the end of the garden is definitely a bonus and so is the log fire, perfect.

The cottage is very quaint with lots of original features and has a well modernised kitchen and bathroom. It has been furnished sympathetically. Outside space for sitting on sunny afternoons was a bonus. Very short walk to lots of pubs

We have stayed at this beautiful cottage many times and it never fails to deliver ☺️ it is always clean and well maintained, there are always plenty of logs for the log burner, the beds are really comfy, there is a river that runs right at the bottom of the garden and there nothing better than to relax in the garden listening to the river, and it’s right in the middle of the beautiful town of Dolgellau, we will be returning next year for another stay, I would highly recommend a stay at this beautiful cottage, Thanks to Aimee, Greg and the cleaning team ☺️

“Lovely cottage with lots of charm.”

A welcome tray with essentials like tea, coffee, sugar etc was a lovely touch as were the flowers. We liked having a comfortable place to come back to in the evening with nice comfy sofas and the tv. A well equipped kitchen with all the utensils and utilities you’d need. Comfy beds! A lovely big bath for a nice soak after a long day exploring. It is right in the town so the shops are very close as are the restaurants and cafes. The garden is beautiful with the stream at the end and sounds lovely. Parking is super easy especially being in the town. The internet was easy to connect to and worked well. Things we’d like to have had or known: an extra shelf in the oven as cooking for 4 or more is tricky on one shelf. The Royal Mail sorting centre next door start early, so if you’re not an early riser, you may well hear them. If you would like to use the wood burning stove, you need to buy some kindling as it’s not supplied. The cottage is charming but a good clean into the corners would make it even better. We had a a great stay and would recommend here to anyone wanting to explore this area of Wales.

“This property is in THE perfect location for anyone wanting to get about in Southern Snowdonia.”

I did not have to use my car at all in my fortnight stay but it was good to have it right outside the house. Dol is also a bus hub. The garden is beautiful even at this time of year and the cottage has a very cozy sitting room. All in all the property was excellent, comfortable and plenty warm enough- even for an old person like me. Do visit the Popytr Dref cake shop- the best cakes in the world, and the several supermarkets are good enough to meet all needs. But nothing beats Cader Idris itself and its secret high valleys which continued to reveal themselves to me during my walking days. A walk to and around Abergwnnant woods along the Mawdach is well worth it and easy walking too. What else to say? I had a wonderful time here. Anyone would.

“Cosy, comfortable, quirky and surprisingly spacious.”

We liked: the well-equipped kitchen with a generous supply of crockery; the big comfy sofas and the very efficient heating system. The position, quiet but close to the town centre, was excellent, with the bakery and the lovely deli two minutes away. Dolgellau is a great base for exploring this beautiful part of Wales. Minor niggles: the fixed shower head was fine but the other one kept slipping (so we did a temporary fix with a tie-wrap). Perhaps a deep-clean in the cottage’s nooks and crannies would deal with cobwebs and “grubby bits”. Old houses are tricky, we know. The oven could do with de-greasing too (we only used it for heating croissants etc), but the rest of the kitchen was immaculate. Nice to have off-road parking but beware of the metal posts! We’d definitely choose this cottage again.

Walking straight from the door around the surrounding mountains and estuary. The town has everything you need close by. The outside space and seating was great in the lovely weather with the river at the bottom of the garden. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious which was ample for the six of us. This is the second time we have stayed in this cottage and we will be returning. Thankyou

“Fro Awel is a lovely old cottage.”

It's comfortable and a delight to stay in. Great location with parking too. The restaurants are good and you really do have everything you need on your doorstep. Just a warning that the ceilings are quite low. This was fine for me but not my 6.2ft partner who kept banging his head. We had a great week despite fairly awful weather. There's plenty to see and do, even if it rains. We'd definitely return to this cottage - although my partner will need to learn to stoop!

Good facilities provided and a spacious garden with good parking. The only issue was the internet that was intermittent most of the time We had a great holiday with plenty of walking straight from the door. I would definitely recommend this cottage and will be booking again.

Nice welcome pack of essentials, very comfortable beds, excellent shower and the best location. The only thing I would change is the railings at the front of the house - their position makes it very difficult to manoeuvre the cars into the space.

It was so lovely after a hard walk in the beautiful Welsh mountains to come back and sit in the garden listening to the river. The local pubs are very friendly and the amenities are very good. Parking is a huge plus, especially as the one way system would make parking difficult in other parts of the village. Cottage is central to all shops, pubs, bakery, butchers, supermarket and amazing play park. Beds very comfy

“This cottage was a change for us, we normally look for one in the middle of nowhere as my husband likes peace and quiet.”

I thought it might be nice for a change to be near shops pubs cafes etc but we were a bit disappointed when we first saw this lovely old stone cottage, right next door to an ugly 1960’s style sorting office. However it wasn’t too bad, bit of noise in the morning from all the vans and posties trolleys but otherwise quite quiet for a town centre property, and it was a lovely comfortable well equipped cottage with lots to do nearby ( if you like walking) and plenty of places to eat in the evening with a nice easy walk home afterwards

Otherwise we had everything we needed plus useful supplies when we first arrived and very helpful owners. Kitchen was particularly very well facilitated. Location was superb, eveything within a few minutes walking distance. And on site parking!

“A gorgeous cottage with many original features including a magnificent fireplace with log burner.”

There is a small patio with good quality furniture at the bottom of the garden where you can drink your coffee and listen to the river. It's so relaxing. Very comfortable with everything you need for a family self catering including a good quality and well stocked kitchen. The shower is also lovely with really good water pressure and the heating is very efficient so the cottage gets really toasty throughout. Dolgellau is the perfect central base for a family break. There are walks directly from the cottage (turn left and head up the hill) but also amazing walks a 5 minute or so drive away 'Precipice Walk'. We cycled the flat Mawddach Trail into Barmouth, which was just under 10 miles each way and spent a lovely afternoon on the beach. (If you are a runner come and get your half marathon PB along the Mawddach Trail!). We also drove to Bala (about 25 minutes) and kayaked on the lake. Pubs were closed the week we went so can't recommend any good eating places but the fish and chips just across the road were pretty good. We definitely hope to visit again.

“Fabulous cottage in a lovely little town with everything right on the doorstep and places to visit nearby.”

there are parking spaces for two cars. . spotlessly clean and extremely comfy, upstairs in the main room there is a large comfy bed.There was only the two of us so we didn't use the other two rooms the lounge is beautiful with log burner,tv,dvd etc. very relaxing. made good use of the outside seating area as we were blessed with fabulous weather all week.it was lovely to sit and chill out listening to the river which runs right along the bottom. this is well fenced off so safe if you have children. kitchen was well equipped. Bathroom had good hot shower and deep bath. The only issue we had was that there was no way of ventilation upstairs in any room so it was were extremly hot and stuffy at night making it difficult to sleep. Th owner is aware of this and is looking at resolving the problem. apart from that everything was fine and if that issuie was resolved we would definitelty return

The house is spacious and well equipped. It is peaceful but close to the centre of the town. The garden is attractive and it is pleasant to sit by the river that runs by the end of the garden. The out-building is good for storing bicycles. Dolgellau is a fantastic base for exploring the area.

DOLGELLAU

Fairbourne 9.3 miles; Barmouth 10 miles; Aberdovey 23.2 miles.

This small, beautiful market town is located in the heart of southern Snowdonia, between the imposing Cader Idris mountain range and the sea. It’s a superb base for a holiday - perfect for combining the many outdoor pursuits on offer in Snowdonia with relaxing days out on the soft sandy beaches of Barmouth, Fairbourne and Aberdovey. The town itself offers a good selection of shops, five pubs and a wine bar, along with a number of excellent restaurants, cafes and two bakeries, that produce fresh bread and cakes each day. Dolgellau is home to over 200 listed buildings, allegedly the highest concentration in the whole of Wales, and the town is also a designated 'cycle break centre' boasting a range of dedicated cycle routes all around the area. Close by is the Coed y Brenin mountain bike trail and this location is ideal for quiet outdoor recreation with superb scenery, mountains, forests, waterfalls, castles and beaches all close to hand.
