Official complaint submitted. A large quantity of household waste, some of it in bags left outside the front of the property, bin full and overflowing. Smoke detector missing from lounge. Water from the boiler either very hot or cold. Ensuite shower unusable. No hot water to bath. Garden furniture filthy. Lounge curtain and rail left behind settee, needed refitting. Bathroom door unable to lock. Consumables such as hand wash, cleaning products, bin bags, not provided. Towels thin and well worn. There are a few positives from our stay. Lovely views, tastefully decorated and comfy beds.

Positives: Comfortable, warm and spacious home.

We stayed for three weeks over Christmas and found the property very clean and well‑equipped. Parking was easy, and the views were lovely. Negatives: The listing mentions a woodburning stove, but the fireplace appears to be decorative only, so the listing may need updating. Handrails at the steps to the entrance would be helpful. Some bedding was a little worn and did not fit the beds perfectly. Overall, we were happy with our stay and would stay again.

About Property: Tones of issues 1) House was not cleaned at all.

It was full of dust and spider web everywhere. No vacuum cleaner in the house, no cleaner was available. I need to clean it all myself using mop and little brush. 2) House was super cold, Thermostat was giving some error code and later on found valves on radiator were not open 3) Coffee table was broken, it was reported months ago by another guest but no action taken. As it was remain slanted, one of its leg stay outside and it highly likely to cause injures. 3) Fireplace without fire wood/coal 4) Bathrooms had no toilet roll, no hand wash, no working lock, no toilet roll holder, wobbling toilet seat. One of the bathroom has no towel rail or hook to hang towel inside bathroom 5) In Kitchen there is no tin opener, no scissor, no ice tray in freezer 6) Back garden had over grown bushes and staircase was full of spider web, Outdoor furniture were very dirty with moss and algae on it. No one can use it. There were no cleaning at all. About Sykes Cottages: They provided phone number but it is available during office hrs only. There is one emergency number, but you need to listen recorded message multiple time to get that number, it is recorded in speed and not given anywhere else. I booked via Hotels.com assuming it must be managed by private owner. it was no where mentioned that it is managed by some agency. It is always difficult to resolve issue if it is not directly managed by owner. I avoid property managed by any middleman. I reported issues on my arrival at emergency number but support member can't get hold to owner and said he can't do anything. I have been asked to fill up complain form, which I have done it and it is 2 weeks since then but no response. Their policy is to get back in 30 days. Super slow in this modern time! Just avoid!!!
