Fantastic stay from start to finish.

The owner Laura was super helpful and the cottage was a dream they had even left a little arrival gift for when we arrived. We cant wait to stay there again and already looking at when we can come back. Thanks Laura.

This property totally lived up to our expectations.

Everything matched what we'd seen and read before we booked and it was a perfect location for our family getaway. Having visited the Western side of North Wales before on a few occasions, we decided this time to go for the far Eastern side near the border. It proved a perfect location for day trips to many places and it was lovely to return to the beautiful garden at the end of each day. This proved to be a favourite with the kids who didn't stop running around or kicking a football during the drier days at the start of our stay and it was great to sit outside with a glass of wine while they did so. Apart from their screaming, it was a totally peaceful location throughout our stay. The bedrooms were spacious and there were 2 travel cots available at the property when we stayed. The beds were so comfortable and the bedding fresh with plenty of towels provided through the rooms. Loads of hanging space, hangers and drawer space for all our clothes. The kitchen had everything we needed with a great set of kitchen crockery and cooking utensils, with a dishwasher to boot. There was a good sized fridge/freezer which had plenty of space for our food for the week. The washing machine was in the nearby garage although we never used it. The book within the property explained everything we needed including WiFi code and other general info. There were plenty of options for food shops a short drive away and we chose to go to Tesco in Mold where I'd arranged a click and collect beforehand for later on just after dropping our cases off at the property. Saved the hassle of going around the shop. Mold is only 15 mins away and also had a good sized Aldi and Lidl and there are plenty of other options around the area too within a short 15 to 20 minute drive from the property. In regards some previous comments from other guests. Well, our eyesight is still intact. OK, the TV could be bigger but we didn't book a cottage in a beautiful countryside location with a beautiful garden to be sitting in front of it all day. There was access to digital apps through the TV if you found the button on the remote, ( i didn’t find it but my 6 year old certainly did) but I'd already decided to take our Firestick for the kids anyway so plugged it into the TV. Saved entering passwords into the Tv etc. The road down to the property was a little bumpy and could see how in the depths of winter it could be difficult to maintain, but no issue if you take your time and drive carefully. I would certainly recommend Orchard Cottage to anyone. If I was ever returning to the area again in the future I would certainly book it again. However , we like to try a different part of the UK every year so we will leave that privilege to someone else for at least a few years. Many thanks.

Orchard cottage is well equipped, clean and comfortable in every respect, with a well kept garden having lovely views over the countryside.

Very nice touch with the welcome pack, including a bottle of prosecco. Adequate parking for 2 or 3 cars. Main drive a bit bumpy, take a little care, but there is a side gate which avoids this. A couple of points - not complaints - but for information. The tele is a little small for the large and comfortable lounge and more comprehensive advice on waste management would be helpful. We did not meet Gary and Laura during our stay - there was no need. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. The Smith family

Wow!

My sisters and I have just returned home from The Orchard Halkyn. The photographs taken by Sykes do not do it justice. The cottage has everything for a break away. The kitchen is well stocked with top of the range accessories and spotlessly clean. The beds are comfortable. The grounds are beautifully maintained with fabulous views . The owner Gary came to check we had everything we needed but he wasn't intrusive leaving us to get on enjoying this beautiful cottage. Thank you

Spacious accommodation with comfortable furnishings. The cottage is private at the back and not overlooked, with a lovely setting to enjoy sitting or dining outside.

Absolutely loved Orchard Cottage.

Very peaceful and tranquil. Very well equipped. The fresh flowers and wine were much appreciated. We would definitely stay again, lots of places to visit. Beautiful countryside and coast.

We contacted the owner prior to visit because previous reviews highlighted a problem with potholes on the driveway.

The owner reassured us that our vehicle would not have a problem. Additionally because the owner was away during our stay, we could use another entrance. The property was very comfortable and well laid out, except for the television, which was far too small for the size of the lounge .The TV did not have an APP facility so we could only get free view, which was very disappointing. We were also surprised to find only one toilet roll allocated for the week, so we had to purchase more. We would suggest that the information file gives greater clarity on waste management. Besides putting glass in the garage all other waste was left in the kitchen with no outside bins to decant rubbish.

We stayed for just three nights, did not really get to know the area (or the owners).

However, we can still recommend the cottage, which is very nicely set up. Cozy and comfortable, with plenty of space inside, as well as a huge secluded garden. It is also situated down a private lane so it is very peaceful and we could let the children explore outside without having to worry about passing traffic. Thank you very much!

A beautiful cottage - spotless, spacious, and equipped with everything we needed.

The views from the living room overlooking the garden were absolutely stunning. It was the perfect base for a family catch up, offering the best of both worlds: fantastic walks nearby and easy access to Cheshire Oaks for shopping. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We had a lovely week in this beautiful cottage.

It was very comfortable & cosy. Lots of space inside & outside for us to be relaxed & enjoy our time away. Very quiet & peaceful surroundings helped us have a lovely holiday.

Everything was great just one point that many other guests mentioned in the comments book is that the TV is too small for the size of the lounge as one settee is a long way away from it.

It is a quiet location with beautiful views and everything you might need for a week away. Spotlessly clean and warm and cosy. It was our first visit to this area and there is so much to see that we had a packed week.

Property located just in the right place for where we wanted to explore during our break away and local amenities within easy reach.

Beautiful cottage in beautiful location,lovely and clean maybe carpets could do with a clean but realise this could be difficult , being of the older generation we found the furniture low and uncomfortable and step into and out of shower difficult, tv to small for size of the room and lighting in lounge ,poor attention needed to number of bulbs that need replacing , also need better bedside light in king bedroom we like to read in bed and that was only possible when moving another lamp , also the drive way was dreadful upon entry there is drop where if you not careful you could badly damage your car, owner said it was due to the weather , maybe a sign at the gateway warning people would be a good idea, we were lucky with the weather and location we enjoyed several trips out and out holiday .

Fantastic accommodation, comfy beds and spotlessly clean.

Would recommend. The only downside is the drive needs some maintenance especially as you turn in. There is a chance of grounding the car and the pot holes are enormous. If this were fixed it would be absolutely perfect.

Beautiful, peaceful cottage, close to all North Wales attractions.

Clean and comfortable and modern in design. Outside area was private with lots of room for my 3 year old grandson to run and play. Highly recommended.

Very well equipped and great views from the lounge and rear garden. A lovely place to come back to after a day out. We always like to book a place with private ,secure parking and this was just right . Lots of walks from the door . Great to have a pub just across the road, just a shame they don't do food ! Would definitely recommend to friends and family . The bottle of wine and Welsh cakes were a lovely touch and very welcome. Thank you

What a beautiful cottage and part of Wales.

the fixtures and furnishings were of a very high standard. The views amazing. Beds so comfortable and the pictures do not show how much space you really have. Easy reach of major towns , villages and churches. Would love to go back again if in the area in summer and make more use of the huge orchard garden. Thank you both

Beautiful cottage, situated in a lovely part of Wales.

Very clean property tastefully decorated etc. Comfortable bed in master bedroom, and all kitchen appliances to hand if and when one decides to cook. Friendly pub about 500 yards from property. Good cross country walks nearby. For some guests, maybe the television could be a tad bigger for the size of the room it is in. But a really lovely place to say.

So quiet and great views. Close to the coast not far to get anywhere. Plenty of space and beds were really comfortable.

This is an outstanding property.

Everything you need is there. It is tastefully furnished and decorated and it feels as though you are living in someone's much-loved home.

Orchard Cottage was very clean and quiet with a nice view through the orchard to the estuary, we enjoyed our stay shame the dishwasher was not working

The property is extremely clean and comfortable.

It is spacious, beautifully furnished and well equipped, in a delightfully peaceful spot, with lovely views and garden. We were very pleased with our stay. The only slight drawback is the one bathroom which also includes the toilet. This did not present a problem for our party 2 adults and 2 visiting grandchildren, but it would be more tricky with a larger party..

The one thing about this property that you cannot appreciate from the photographs is how big it is.

It's massive. Some of these cottages are decidedly 'cosy' for two people but this would fit two families. It's a genuinely fabulous place to stay. Loads of parking and while the road to get there is small it still has lines painted down the middle, which in this part of Wales is unusual in my experience with Sykes Cottages. Very highly recommended.

We spent a very relaxing week at Orchard cottage, it was a home away from home and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The cottage had everything we need for our stay and we would not hesitate to return. Orchard cottage is in remote location where we could enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside but at the same time within 45 mins drive to Liverpool and Chester. We had a very restful break. Sienna This is not by any means a criticism but merely an observation - the accommodation would benefit from a second bathroom and the wardrobes and cupboards in the bedrooms could do with some replacements. That said we would not hesitate to return to orchard cottage in the near future.

The cottage was set in the grounds of the owners, which added an extra charm.

This was because we felt we could just knock on their door if we needed anything. The owners were lovely and gave us all the privacy we needed. Also happy to chat when I popped out to say hello. The cottage itself was beautiful with flowers all around and 5 acres of private land to explore. The welcome gifts were such a touch of elegance. We definitely didn’t want to leave. The best cottage we have stayed at, with lovely beaches nearby and very friendly locals.

Delightful house and garden, friendly owners, convenient location for exploring Chester and north Wales.

Perfect except that ideally another loo would be very useful. Definitely recommend this well-equipped, bright house for a lovely holiday.

A spacious, clean, nicely decorated & furnished cottage with a beautiful large orchard garden, in a secluded yet not out of the way setting.

Great views from the garden towards the estuary. There was a thoughtful welcome hamper provided, alongside vases of freshly cut flowers, a lovely touch. We would like to offer a few points for consideration, these being, a few essential items could do with being replaced in the kitchen. Ie a larger new frying pan, more baking trays plus better cutlery. Perhaps supply enough for 10 or 12 settings, rather than 6, as you do use plates& cutlery etc when preparing. We were a group of 6 adults & although the cottage was roomy, we felt that another bathroom would make a huge difference,( there is ample room for one). Also the 2 adults in the twin room found the duvets far too small. Overall we enjoyed our stay but on reflection would say that the property is perhaps better suited to a family with young children/ babies.

The cottage is well stocked with everything you need to eat in and relax.

The BBQ and garden area was well used as the weather was amazing. The lovely welcome pack was an added bonus with some wine and goodies left by the very helpful owners. They also gave us good tips on where to visit and some excellent local pubs to eat out at. All in all a great holiday!

The cottage was so beautiful.

The setting was amazing and really central to lots of places nearby. It was clean and comfortable, with amazing beds to snuggle in to! We'll definitely go back. Xx

We had a lovely stay at Orchard Cottage.

It's very private, being down a track off main road and within grounds of owners house. The garden is secluded and when sunny, offers lovely sunbathing opportunities. The cottage is in fantastic condition and well furnished. We can honestly say it's one of the cleanest cottages we've been to and a credit to the owners. A great week at a lovely property.

Orchard Cottage was lovely we felt at home as soon as we entered.

There was a little hamper with wine, biscuits, jam and crisps which were greatly received :-) A special note must go to the cleanliness of the property, we have stayed in many holiday cottages and by far this was the cleanest. Deciding to go away and leaving your little "bubble" can be a big step but we felt very comfortable. Definitely recommend 10/10

The cottage was lovely - clean and homely in a gorgeous setting!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Amazing location, with the main motorway less than 5 minutes away! Travelled as far as Porthmadog during our break - clocking up Conwy, Barkby beach, Chester Zoo and Marine Lake (amazing for crabbing) along the way too! Hope to stay again in the future!

We absolutely loved Orchard Cottage from the moment we arrived.

Spotlessly clean and greeted with a few goodies (lovely added bonus). The cottage is stunning with beautiful views of the estuary. The beds were heavenly. We visited Talacre and Barkby beaches, spent most of our days at Barkby as it wasn't crowded and parking was easy. We ate at the Beaches hotel overlooking Barkby beach, highly recommended and also the Britannia in just down from the cottage, again, highly recommended. Would absolutely love to visit again in future.

The cottage was immaculate and beautifully designed although there is only one bathroom and no other toilet which would be more suitable for 3 guests - luckily there was only the 2 of us.

I think it would be appropriate to mention that the washing machine is in the garage, which wasn't a problem as luckily the owner pointed it out to us. There was lots of goodies crisps, biscuits, bread, apple chutney - presumably made from the apples in the orchard, eggs, milk and bread and fresh flowers, It really was a beautifully kept home and would highly recommend it. The map I used on my phone to navigate there, "on arrival at our destination" told us to turn right, which was 'before' where we needed to go - so provided you get to the Bluebell Inn - it is literally opposite there. We really enjoyed our stay and it really is close to lots of places - Grocery store, Talacre beach, Chester and Liverpool so even though we only had 2 good days of sunshine, there was plenty to do - or not as it was such a nice home to stay in. My wife and I have stayed in many cottages around the uk,and I must say this is one of the best yet.

It was spotless and had everything you could need. The location was excellent,with the patio doors looking out over rolling fields filled with sheep.Nice pub across the road for a drink(Bluebell inn) and for great food the Britannia inn is about a 15 min walk(bit steep walking back after a big meal and a couple of pints but worth it). Thanks to the owners Gary and Laura for nice welcome pack and helping to make it a lovely stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Orchard Cottage.

The house was very clean, beautifully furnished and decorated. Situated in very peaceful surroundings, we were able to sit out in the garden for dinner to enjoy the summer weather. The kitchen was well equiped with everything we needed. The owners paid attention to every little detail to ensure our stay was comfortable: a lovely welcome pack on arrival, a chest of toys for the kids and even torches to navigate in the dark if you are brave enough to venture outside during nightime in to the nearby local pub! Owners were very friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble. The house was usefully set on one level so it was easy for my dad to walk around without the need to take any stairs. Many places of interest were within easy reach including the beaches of Anglesey (eg. Newborough Warren), seaside towns (eg. Llundudno), pretty gardens (eg Bodnant Gardens), and Snowdonia mountains (eg Cym Idwal). Totally recommend this cottage for a relaxing retreat.

We had a wonderful time here.

The family that own the cottage and live on site were lovely and very friendly. The accommodation was wonderful with everything you could possibly need including luxuries like Netflix, board games, picnic mats and magazines. When we arrived we were greeted with a wonderful hamper of goodies to keep us going until we could reach a shop. The cottage is beautiful with modern furnishings. The gardens were fantastic for the children and they had many hours of fun running around the orchard and playing in the fields. There were many little walks we took through the woods at the bottom of their field which the kids loved. Opposite the cottage is a little pub which is small and quaint but lovely. The people were very welcoming and gave us lots of advice on places/beaches to go and visit. We will definitely be looking to go back to this cottage and would like to thank the owners for making our stay delightful.

From Halkyn it’s easy to get to Chester and so many places in North Wales. The owners are friendly and welcoming. We would definitely stay again.

Very quiet and secluded position. Well placed to visit the North Wales area including Chester, Llandudno, Anglesey Tec. Owners were very pleasant friendly people We highly recommend this property to all guests wishing a relaxed, peaceful holiday break.

The king size bed was far to soft and uncomfortable slept really bad!

No need for single beds on bottom apart from that amazing. Will be back!

We had a brilliant time staying in Orchard Cottage.

The cottage is beautifully decorated and very clean. It is in a great location with being on the Wales/England boarder, it meant we could explore North Wales and noth west England such as nearby Chester with ease. I highly recommend.

Orchard cottage was fabulous.

stunning in every way. Would give 5 stars. Furniture looked beautiful and was comfortable too. Views from the back of cottage were picturesque with walks from the door.

Our holiday was fantastic made so much better by the BEAUTIFUL cottage!

We would definitely recommend and will certainly be going back. The owners were lovely and have done such an amazing job with the cottage. When we arrived there was milk, bread, Prosecco, jams etc, such a lovely touch. Thank you we loved it!

The place was immaculate.

The owners were easily contactable even when abroad. Any issues were solved immediately. Everything in the property was quality and well looked after. Only downside was just one toilet. Thank you for a lovely stay.
