“Location is excellent.”

Cottage very comfortable with plenty of space and utensils. Garden is lovely. Space for 2 cars to park close to property. Owner messaged before stay with lots of information. Only couple of points we’d raise - my son had to move out of the double bedded room as paint was falling on his pillow during the night from the ceiling and after a downpour of rain the carpet in that room was wet. (Owner had mentioned problems they’d had with paintwork in introductory text due to being so close to the seafront however this did disrupt our stay a little and I had to use emergency towels on the carpet where it was wet ). Paint in shower peeling too. Disappointed with cleaners moaning we’d used too many towels when these were all made available for us to use and then also claiming we’d used some sort of cleaner in the shower! We had not cleaned the shower - we just used shampoo and shower gel in there! We left the house tidy with a clean kitchen before leaving even knowing a cleaning company would be coming in after us! Apart from this we would still recommend beacon cottage as a lovely place to stay

“Had a most enjoyable week at Beacon Cottage.”

Rooms were comfortable clean and tidy, kitchen had all the necessary equipment .The Cottage is ideally situated for long coastal walks and minutes to the village shops , Pub & chippy. I highly recommend a meal at Galdys ,Sunday roast was delicious ,hot and good portions, the staff are friendly and polite. Nina has done a great job looking after the Cottage over the years with it being right on the coast exposed to the elements of a coastal property .All in all a great place to be , quiet and peaceful .Highly recommended to anyone .

I try hard to provide a comfortable base for whatever the guests need - be it just to relax and re charge their batteries or somewhere to return to and rest after a busy day walking, or exploring / sightseeing. Being just the two of you, you may have been a bit overwhelmed by the amount of cooking utensils but some groups book for family get togethers and often cook celebration meals so need a larger variety of equipment. “Beacon Cottage is an absolute gem, situated right on the Anglesey coastal path and with fabulous sea views over Cemaes Bay to Wylfa Head.”

We stayed in early April and were blessed with a week of sunshine. We watched the sun rise and set from upstairs and the constantly changing sea with passing boats and lots of seabirds. The cottage very cosy and comfortable, well equipped and with delightful, dog-friendly, gardens. An easy 10 minutes walk leads down to the sweet little village of Cemaes with its old harbour, beach, shops, pubs and valley nature trail. The cottage is the perfect base to explore the many delights of Anglesey: nearby Cemlyn Bay (shingle beach with RSPB tern colony), Holy Island (cliff walk from North to South Stack RSPB reserve with guillemots, razorbills, gannets, puffins and seals), Bull Bay (choughs, ravens, fulmars and porpoises), Amlwch (historic harbour for exporting copper from Parys Mountain), Point Lynas (walk to lighthouse), Newborough Forest (Corsican pines, red squirrels, sand dunes, extensive sandy beaches, walk to Llanddwyn Island), Rhosneigr (wide sheltered sandy bay, water sports and the famous Oyster Catcher restaurant), the Menai Straits (Plas Newydd NT and Beaumaris Castle), Trwyn Du lighthouse and beach cafe…and much, much more. We can totally recommend Beacon Cottage. And big thanks to Nina, the very helpful and thoughtful owner. We’re hoping to stay again soon.

“This is a one of a kind property.”

We had some seriously windy weather but were so snuggly the cottage. The views are unbelievable and we marvelled at the quietness. For those with a dog, the garden really is escape proof, which is fantastic. Even when we had a problem with the shower, there was a plumber with us in 48 hours - over New Year! The one thing which we felt would add to the property is a dishwasher, a first world problem, but it would be money well invested for your guests who don't want to spend wasted time doing dishes!

Thank you for your review and pleased the extreme weather didn’t spoil the holiday,I know you went walking each morning. Thank you also for your understanding when the shower failed to work - very lucky to get a new one installed on New Years Eve but he’s the plumber who is replacing the shower cubicle in January so I already knew him which I think helped. Unfortunately there is no space for a dishwasher or I would have had one installed. Even a kitchen designer and experienced plumber said it can’t be done through lack of space. The cooker, fridge and washer (for laundering of bedding & towels) take up the only 60mm spaces. Lack of space meant the freezer and extra fridge had to housed in the owner ‘s storeroom. I understand lacking a dishwasher must be a drawback for some people. Property Owner

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, I’m so pleased you enjoyed the holiday once again. Checking the storm history you just avoided Storms Ashley 18/10 and Bert 22-25/11! I was there during Storm Darragh early December and it was impressive with the waves crashing on the rocks below. Not all guests would enjoy that I suppose but fascinating to watch from inside. The three storms after you left have done considerable damage to the gates and windbreaks but the cottage was fine and hopefully will remain so. The shower area is being renewed and the inside completely redecorated so hoping it’s still looking good if you rebook. Lots more work to do there but it’s as and when income from bookings arrives now. Property Owner

“We absolutely loved the property great views,great size and a great price compared with those around it.”

But it seriously needs some work doing to it as there is damp in every room,peeling paint and dusty paint that rubs off if you touch it,the bedroom next to the toilet on the left has crumbling plaster behind the radiator that keeps appearing on the floor,patio doors in both bedrooms would benefit from new seals. Also a shower over the bath would be a great addition apart from the mention issues we had a great stay at beacon cottage.

Thank you for your feedback, The cottage has areas replastered every year during my winter closure and then decorated by a reputable firm. However as the spray from the waves and during bad storms hit the north wall it causes damage. The outer walls have been sealed then painted twice at the end of 2023 . Areas in the kitchen and largest bedroom ( mentioned here ) were also re plastered in January of this year. The salt in the atmosphere causes the emulsion to flake / turn to dust in some places which sadly is ongoing. I have had the property 27 years now and no contractor however well recommended had managed to solve the problem of the flaking emulsion. There had been considerable work done from New Year to opening the season in mid February and at a midsummer break but the problem with the plaster remains due to its very close proximity to the sea. I have called at similar properties experiencing the spray from the waves and we all have the same problem. I wish you had mentioned these drawbacks earlier in your stay and I could have at least explained. In the description of the property it does mention that close proximity to the sea affects the interior decoration and that the cottage is very old. I will ask Sykes to put these disclosures at the top of the description from now on. Any profit goes into maintenance on the cottage. Property Owner

“Beacon Cottage has everything that I wanted to ensure a relaxing and comfortable home from home.”

The stunning setting meant that even washing up was enjoyable, we were entertained by dolphins leaping out of the waves! The well stocked kitchen meant that we could easily cater for ourselves when needed. The beds were comfortable and the cottage was warm and cozy, there was the opportunity to boost the heating on the couple of occasions that we were chilly. Nina was a very attentive host who made sure that we had everything that we needed. I wouldn’t hesitate to book the property again.

“We throughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage, it was everything that was described,our 3 yorkie mini's loved the rear gardens,lots of room and all fenced in so worries of them absconding.”

The two local beaches are also good for dog walks along the costal paths which are right next to the cottage also,local amenities in the village is a small Morrisons,Chemist,Chippie,couple of pubs and an ice cream parlour. In the cottage full appliances and dvd,videos,games and lots of books so plenty to do on rough weather days.Nina was accessible throughout the day if you had any questions and was most helpful overall it was a great week and would highly recommend to others. “What can I say?”

This is the second time we have stayed at Beacon Cottage and it didn't disappoint. A beautiful cottage with stunning views. Clean, spacious, comfortable and everything we need for a home from home holiday. Cemaes is a small town with a few shops, cafes and pubs. Beautiful beaches, a short walk down the hill from the house. The gardens are well kept and garden furniture provided to enjoy every aspect. We lit the chiminea at night amd toasted marshmallows under the stars. Absolutely perfect. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home with us.

“A quirky cottage in a stunning location with sea views from nearly every window, even a sea view from the shower.”

At this time of year the garden was a sun trap and looked beautiful with birds on the pampas grass adding to the beauty. The cottage has everything needed for a family holiday. We could see the Isle of Man from the dining room while eating our meal a number nights and the sunsets have been beautiful. The cottage is a few minutes from the village with three pubs, two cafes, a chippy and a Village Venture shop, right on the coastal path, so dog walks from the door and a few minutes from the beach. We were able to park 3 cars outside. This to me is the best location on the island and I have been to Anglesey many times. Nina the host answers any queries straightaway wanting guests to share the love she has for her cottage and the surrounding area. We were all sad to leave.

The history of Cemaes itself is amazing from ‘Wreckers’ luring passing sailing ships onto the rocks to, as a contrast, dramatic rescues by local people in small boats in perilous sea conditions to try to save crews of stricken ships. “My family felt instantly at home in this fabulous house by the sea.”

You can prepare the food with a Seaview, dine with a Seaview, and even shower with a Seaview. The house is very well stocked and all needs catered for. The garden is a delight, and it feels like sitting on the beach, when you hear the waves below. Even a mixed week of weather couldn't dampen our enthusiasm both for Cemaes Bay and this gem of a house. Finally, many thanks to Nina who was a wonderfully helpful owner. We will be back!

“Well ..this let has the wow factor view”

...amazing money cant buy it ...well equipped kitchen and amazing dining area upstairs ...bedrooms are down stairs ..you have 3 garden areas ..one is very dog safe (enclosed) ..the beds are very comfortable ...fishing on your doorstep if you want ...and a little beach that is dog friendly all year round 2 mins away ...shopping wise there is a Morrison's daily small shop that can top you up or i prefer the red dragon garage with a mini supermarket at treagle 2mins drive away ...better stocked and a little cheaper ...the harbour in did some great food ...the harbour burger was really good no body was disappointed with the food out of a group of 7...Nina is a great host and kept us informed of any issues ...will return again ...a stunning let

It has taken me some time to think of an appropriate reply to this review. The feeling of peace and being able to almost forget about the trials of life is what initially attracted me to Anglesey - many guests have expressed the same sentiments. Even on first entering the badly neglected cottage many years ago I felt completely relaxed and I decided somehow to buy it as my bolthole. It has kept me short of money restoring and then maintaining it but I I have no regrets. It’s wonderful when guests feel such an uplifting experience staying there and enjoy the stunning surrounding area. “Very well equipped.”

Beautiful views, we watched the porpoises on Wednesday morning for 1 hour from the dining room window. We spent time in the plesent and enclosed garden. Nina was very helpful and replied quickly to any questions we had about the property. Would definitely return. Lovely quiet bays around the coast. Very peaceful.

How lucky you were to actually be looking out from the cottage when the porpoises arrived, they come regularly but can be easily missed. Such a special experience. I think the peaceful setting as well as the spectacular views are the cottages best selling points, guests should hopefully leave refreshed and invigorated. It boasts the most stunning views from every window and has a fabulous dog friendly garden which is a must for our needs. It has a well equipped kitchen and four double bedrooms. This is our sixth stay in Cemaes and out third stay at Beacon. We will return in the years to come.

“Beacon cottage has off road parking for 2 cars.”

The enclosed gardens are lovely, well maintained and dog friendly. Partitioned areas are great for relaxing, having a barbecue or sitting by the chiminea. Views from the cottage are superb. You have long distance views of the coastline and it’s wildlife from the gardens and upstairs living area. We saw Razorbill, redshank, oystercatcher, various gull species, ravens and seals in early March. The kitchen, dining room and lounge are all on the 1st floor and provide spectacular sea views in any weather. Sitting upstairs in the warmth while a storm raged outside was a memorable day on our winter visit. The stunning coastal path runs adjacent to the cottage and it’s only a short stroll into the village. It is a great place for sea fishing - within a couple of minutes you can be fishing off the rocks. We caught a salmon and pollack with spinning rods in freezing conditions. Summer must be great for mackerel. The owner was extremely helpful and keen to be ensure our stay went well. We were provided with lots of books, dvds and games as well as tvs in every room. It felt like home from the start. Our holiday at Beacon cottage was a joy. Plenty to do and yet so relaxing. If anyone dislikes this place they shouldn’t go on holiday.

Thank you so much for your detailed review, it gives excellent information as to what can be enjoyed at the cottage particularly on the doorstep so to speak and in ‘ challenging’ weather though I know you still walked, ran and fished. It was good to hear of your catching fish on your first morning, and as you said in your text to me you are not leaving the family for long to fish as there’s no journey involved plus the family can watch whoever is fishing from the dining room window. My son who comes with me to help on the maintenance visits is a keen fisherman and has caught some amazing species even in January. However last visit a large group of dolphins started leaping about where he was fishing and put an end to that tho he was of course thrilled to see them - sadly I missed them! Your interest in bird life was rewarded too which could as you say, be watched from the comfort of the cottage on poor weather days. “We had the most amazing time at this beautiful cottage.”

The cottage sits right next to the coastal path with breath taking views across the sea. We found it to be a place of real tranquility and somewhere to escape from the stresses of the real world. The pictures really don't do this properly justice for you to fully appreciate the amazing sea views which you get from every room. It is clear that a lot of love and thought has gone into furnishing this property with quirky little features and reminders of the seaside throughout. Absolutely everything had been thought of and everything you could possibly need provided. We have been staying in holiday cottages across the UK for 13+ years and I have never come across a property owner thoughtful enough to provide electric blankets on all of the beds for the winter months where I can imagine they would be gratefully appreciated, not needed during our stay as we were lucky enough to have some beautiful weather but it was a thoughtful consideration none the less. The property was spotlessly clean and tidy upon arrival with plenty of towels, hand-wash and other basic essentials (toilet rolls, clothes wash, washing up liquid etc) provided. The gardens surrounding the property were very pretty and well maintained with lots of areas leading off from one another giving the place a magical vibe, a bit like a secret garden with different sections to explore and discover. Beacon Cottage is a very short 5 minute walk down to the bay where you can walk across the promenade and take in the beautiful scenery of Cemaes Bay. The pathways from the cottage and across the bay are all flat and paved making this an ideal property for guests with mobility difficulties or guests with walking aids. There is also a lovely pub on the same 5 minute route to the beach called The Stag which is the most northerly pub in Wales and a really nice place to enjoy a pint or two and a good meal. There are so many beautiful places to visit all within 30 minute drive of this property so we found it to be a fantastic location from which to visit Anglesey. Overall this property was an absolute gem and we cannot wait to visit again soon.

I am very greatfull for the thought that has gone into composing this AND the time taken. After another hectic day here at the cottage for maintenance and being mostly a gopher for the tradesmen it was lovely to receive an alert from Sykes about an excellent review. On reading it on my owner portal my reaction was ‘Wow!’ I do try hard to provide a good experience for guests, the cottage sometimes suffers from being badly battered by the sea spray and gales last winter - repairing the damage between guests visits is nerve wracking. “The property is very well looked after.”

The outside gates however are difficult to open and close and great care is required to ensure no incidents with Pets. The internal areas are well organized with regard to ,bedrooms,toilets,wash rooms and the Kitchen is extremely useful for all events and food etc is well organised for our group of 8 by using the main floor for eating in a well arranged dinning room on the top floor witch also provides televisions.

“Beacon Cottage was everything we wished for and more.”

Clean, comfortable, breathtaking views from every window and so relaxing. Comfortable furniture, lovely cottage feel to the house and it instantly felt like home. The owner kept in touch while we were there to make sure we had everything we needed, and we did. A fully equipped kitchen, lovely bath amd shower rooms, comfortable beds, garden furniture and chiminea which we lit in the evening to toast marshmallows. The gardens are well kept and have several areas to relax and soak up the sun while listening to the waves lapping the shore and birds singing. Cemaes Bay is a quiet village with a few shops and pubs, it is very dog friendly and spotless. A lovely area for walks and not too far away from places of interest. I highly recommend Beacon House and hope to stay there again in the near future. Thank you to Nina for sharing her lovely house with us.

Having the lounge and kitchen upstairs is much better as you have the fantastic sea views from every window. Nina the owner has literally thought of everything you could possibly need in the cottage and is very well equipped. The children loved the reading corner and the vast amount of games and dvds. I must say what a lovely lady Nina is to personally get in touch with us throughout the holiday to make sure everything was ok and also vicky the cleaner who does an amazing job of cleaning the cottage in such a short amount of time in between changeovers. Firstly what a beautiful home you have, Nina, with spectacular views! The accommodation is exceptionally equipped, and it has that home-from-home feel to it. The weather has been perfect, not too hot, considering we had our little dog with us. Nina was very thoughtful & suggested places to visit as we were here, two in particular Penrhoes nature Park, Newborough Forest & the one we had chosen ourselves was Rhosneigr. “We had a really enjoyable stay, the cottage had everything we needed and more!”

The views and location are second to none! The facilities had so much more too with access to additional towels and bedding etc if needed. The little touches such as electric blankets and tumble dryer made such a difference with children. The property was child friendly with access to baby gates and high chair. The communication was fantastic too. Overall I would highly recommend this cottage! We will be back!

“This cottage is wonderfully situated right on the cliff-top, with amazing views across the bay and out to sea, and is EXCEPTIONALLY presented.”

So much is provided, from lovely soft towels, to loads of crockery, cutlery and glassware, big oven and grill with lots of pots and pans, spotlessly clean, and with some really lovely finishing touches everywhere. All the rooms are large and with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. The lounge is very comfortable, and there is a huge selection of books, CDs and DVDs too. Internet is accessible and a reasonable speed. It is only a short walk down to the village (the butcher’s meat is fantastic quality), and the coastal path runs right outside the cottage. We would definitely recommend this place.

“We stayed in Brecon cottage for a week at the beginning of August and really wished we could have stayed for longer.”

The cottage was equipped with everything you could need during your stay and more. The cottage was really clean and comfortable, with plenty of room for everyone. The cottage was decorated beautifully and felt welcoming. The cottage garden is beautiful and had plenty of seating for us all. The views from nearly every window were amazing and we spent many hours just admiring the views. The sunsets in particular were beautiful. The surrounding area is really interesting, with great coastal walks directly from the cottage, and we found little coves with perfect beaches to explore. We found local pubs which served great food. The butchers in the village is also worth a visit. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

“Beacon Cottage is in a stunning location, we saw dolphins from the dining and room and kitchen windows, A-MAZ-ING.”

They were there for about 40mins, it was 1st April, my daughter and her husband thought we were playing an April fool on them. The house itself is very well equipped, there is a freezer and tumble dryer, which aren’t mentioned in the write up, views are stunning and the location is great for dog walks from the door. We have so enjoyed staying here, 5 adults, one golden retriever and a 7 month old baby, plenty of room for all, can’t wait to go back!!

The property

Located in a stunning, elevated position in the fishing village of Cemaes Bay, nestled at the north tip of Anglesey, is this unusual property offering flexible accommodation for couples, families and friends.

Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the beautiful North Anglesey Heritage Coast, the pretty seaside village of Cemaes Bay is home to three pubs, shops, an award-winning chip shop, a cafe and Visitor Centre, a natural sheltered harbour and a sandy beach edged by grassy cliffs, ideal for safe bathing and family fun. The Isle of Anglesey is renowned for its miles of stunning and varied coastline offering wonderful walking and cycling, renowned birdwatching, excellent watersports, fishing and many quality golf courses. The well-known Sea Zoo and a variety of National Trust properties and gardens are all within reach on this beautiful island. A great location offering something for all the family, including even a day trip to Dublin from nearby Holyhead.
