Bay View - Vista Marina

Our reasons for booking Bayview: the views, the location, 3 bedrooms and EV charging.

The views did not disappoint. Panoramic views from the front of the apartment. Location is great - loads for our family to do within an hour’s drive. We were very unlucky not to be able to use the third bedroom due to a recent water leak which was very disappointing for our kids who need their own space. We have not received any apology / compensation for this inconvenience. The EV charger is shared across 4 apartments and costs 40p per kWh. There was no way of communicating between apartments and I would suggest putting up a board in the communal area for people to ‘book’ the charger time. The charger was blocked by a non EV on the first couple of days so I charged in Tesco in Porthmadog - note the 2 hour time limit in this Tesco car park which we exceeded and may receive a fine for. Other points to note We made use of the communal laundry and had no problems other than finding the £4.50 in coins for the machine (which doesn’t give change). There was also a dryer which was cheaper but we didn’t use it. The apartment is well kitted out with everything we needed. The front bedroom and living area are done up to a much higher standard than the rear bedrooms and bathroom so I would suggest this property would suit a family better than 4 adults. As well as the water leak at the back of the property there were drainage smells and slow draining shower at the front of the property during our stay - the owner has said the issues are being addressed. We stayed on one of the hottest days of the year and the apartment stayed a pleasant temperature. We didn’t need a fan.

Could sit there looking at the sea for hours. Great well equipped kitchen. Cold at the back of the house. Radiator didn’t seem to work in back double.

! After a terrible drive from Northumberland what an absolute pleasure to open the door to our apartment. Everything and more we could have asked for. Fabulous doesn't do it justice, highly recommend. The views from the huge bay windows were mind blowing. A week of wall to wall sunshine and fabulous sunsets. Had to drag ourselves away but hope to return

Very spacious. Great views. Master bedroom and slipper bath were gorgeous. Really good location, easy to visit mountains and the sea. On the corner at the end of the terrace means that you get views at the front and to the side. Owner was helpful and responsive. We had a great week.

Spacious apartment with stunning views.

Clean and well equipped. We have now stayed three times and love it. Even when the weather is unfavourable the apartment is a pleasure to be in.

Amazing place to stay, with sea views from the kitchen, lounge and master suite it is impossible to not feel relaxed.

If you love vitamin sea and mountains this is the place.

Pros- The views were amazing.

It was very convenient for the town. Easy parking. Plenty of cutlery & crockery in the kitchen. The en suite bathroom was huge. Cons- There was only one dishwasher tablet left for us. Half a toilet roll, plus a small amount on another roll in the main bathroom. After some searching we found more in a cupboard down the corridor. No towel in the kitchen. Windows in the main bedroom wouldn’t open. One was broken, couldn’t find the key for the other. None were deal breakers but were frustrating.

We had a perfect stay.

The flat is gorgeous and everything provided for guests is top notch. Chrissie was lovely, checking to see if we had all we needed. And the views from the many windows are just spell-binding.

Was spotlessly clean and we had everything we need. A few more toilet rolls and hand wash in bathrooms would have nice.

Absolutely lovely apartment.

Beautiful location and stunning views. Parking was easy. Beds very comfortable. Apartment equipment with everything that might be needed.

We've stayed in numerous places in this area and this is the biggest and one of the best we've stayed at.

All of the rooms are large, well furnished and equipped. Great sea views of the tide coming in and out. No trouble parking and internet worked perfectly. You won't be disappointed. The only downside was lugging the case up the stairs.

Our second stay in this lovely flat.

Its location is perfect with good views from all rooms. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable lounge furniture. Quirky decorative touches that we enjoyed. After days out it was sheer pleasure to turn the key and feel delight to be back in such good surroundings. Small point. It was unseasonably cold at the start of our stay and we would have welcomed some instructions to enable us to turn the heating on for a spell. We left message for caretaker but he didn't respond. Altogether a wonderful place to stay. We will return next year.

There was some slight confusion with the address.

The actual building is number 30 Marine terrace but is advertised as 3 vista marina which is the name given to one apartment within the building which isn’t visible until you go in the building.

What an amazing property, it has the most amazing views and was the perfect location for a family weekend break.

Great location to drive to other locations. Stunning views from the apartment. Overall best place my boyfriend and I have ever stayed. We stay in a lot of places all over the country. Chrissie the owner is really nice and takes pride in her apartment. Nothing is too much trouble for her. Responds straight away if we have a problem or questions. Had a really lovely time it's the second time we've been in 3 months.

Looking forward to hopefully going back in the summer. We would highly recommend lovely views and place. Caretaker very helpful and friendly.

We spent a wonderful week in Bay View.

Stunning views, well equipped, clean, warm and so comfortable. We have been visiting Criccieth for many, many years and had our 'special' place we stayed in annually that we lost when the owner sold up after the pandemic... Although we stayed elsewhere, it just wasn't the same, but now we have found Bay View we feel we have definitely found another place that will help us make more family memories. We have already booked for next year! The only 'complaint' I could have was not from Bay View itself, but what sounded like a 'gamer' from, we believe, the flat below, who was playing rather enthusiastically until after 4am a couple of days! However, we would never allow this to put a damper on this beautiful place!

Towards the end of the season, so some general maintenance needed on the property.

One of the bedrooms seemed cold/damp and had a very musty smell (smoke), luckily we weren't using that room, it felt really uninviting. It felt like the floors had been cleaned with a dirty mop, some hair had to be removed when we arrived. I recleaned the basin in the bathroom. BUT we loved our stay here. Great accommodation, amazing views. Apart from the small general maintenance and not quite as clean as we'd have liked, no other problems. Thank you.

Well maintained and cleaned. Some holiday lets are bland and anonymous but this one had a strong personality, thanks to an artistic owner.

The apartment was of a very high standard, clean and very well maintained.

We had a lovely holiday and really liked the accommodation and Criccieth was a fabulous base for exploring the area . We found the apartment extremely comfortable to relax in after a long day out and the views from the living room were fabulous.

When we arrived the apartment had not been cleaned and the beds were unmade.

We were invited to use the Penthouse for over an hour whilst the cleaners worked, and received a bottle of Fizz. We needed more towels, more toilet rolls (which we bought ourselves) and liquid soap in each toilet/bathroom. I would appreciate some money back in compensation. The owner apologised for the mix up by Sykes and sorted the situation quickly, but it was a very disappointing start to our holiday.

Loved the apartment - loved the bath in the bedroom - sea views were fantastic.

Had the best stay Apartment was beautiful and had everything we needed absolutely zero complaints Bed was very comfortable Sofa was comfy and it felt like a home away from home Communication from the owner was fab and super friendly On the beach too with everything just a short distance away We will 100% be back again think we have found our new favourite place

Overall it was nice but I wouldn't recommend staying at this property with children.

The views are wonderful, sofa and beds were comfy, kitchen well equipped, and amazing bath in the window. Our stay was hampered however by the strong smell of cigarettes coming from the flat below (hence the children comment), especially in the rear bathroom and bedroom. We had to move our baby from the room because the smell was so awful and we were unable to use the bathroom as a result. Our clothes and towels smelled of smoke too. There is a strict no smoking policy in the building but you can tell someone is smoking inside as the smell comes and goes and is very strong. A lot of the windows didn't either work which meant we couldnt let fresh air in when it was hot and smokey smelling, or close them firmly at night when it was windy so it was quite loud. Other issues we found were mould smelling furniture, dvd player not working, and old food down the back of the sofa. Maybe it was just bad luck, but I read other reviews about the same issues. Criccieth was very pleasant, the castle has great views and there are lots of nice places to get ice cream!

It was comfortable and had great facilities. Lovely sea views. We will certainly return.

We couldn't open any of the windows.

They all seemed to be jammed, some slightly open but not closeable. This meant we couldn't open the windows when we wanted to but also we couldn't properly close the windows when the extremely strong winds were whistling through on one particularly stormy night. This was the only downside. Otherwise everything was just perfect and very comfortable.

A much needed break from pandemic.

The flat was very clean and comfortable.The view was so calming and seeing the porpoises was magical. It was easy to social distance when out walking or swimming in the sea.Really good take-aways so we did not have to sit in anywhere. We will return!

A lovely apartment on the seafront and so perfect for watching the sea and straight on the beach.

The bedrooms are spacious and plenty of space to sleep 6 but the table only seats 4 in the kitchen. I would definitely look at booking again and my sister already has for October half term after looking at it

The views and the apartment are wonderful, very well equipped and maintained with a bright airy feel.

This was a last minute booking and I'm so glad I rang Sykes Cottages who arranged our booking with a minimum of fuss. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 3 Villa Marina and would recommend it to anyone fit enough to climb the stairs and enjoy exploring Criccieth and surrounding area.

Brilliant apartment and we would definitely consider returning.

Fantastic base whether you want to explore the peninsula, go mountain walking, have a beach day or just spend the day relaxing in comfort in the apartment. The sofas are lovely and comfortable and if you want to chill you can sit in the window and take in the fabulous views. Not necessarily negatives, but a couple of things to note. As an apartment, you will hear the people upstairs. They were only there for a couple of days when we were there, but could be an issue if they were up late at night. Shared washing machine only takes 50p pieces, £3.50 a wash, so if like us you have an active holiday worth saving them up beforehand. The chippy by the castle is great, best to go early though as the queues build. Poachers was a lovely restaurant, best to book though. All in all great apartment in a beautiful location and well worth visiting.

To many stairs for older people and a little bit of a up hill walk to high Street.

But the accommodation and views fantastic.

the location and view is amazing! Lots of space in the apartment, The owner is very quick to sort any issues, there were no major issues but I would ask the owner to just keep an eye on maintenance we noticed a few things such as 5 bulbs not working but this did not effect our stay, might also be a good idea also to have the WiFi box inside the apartment so guests can reset it themselves if needed.

Having stayed in cottages for 30 years, this apartment had better views than alny of my previous holidays.

We love the fantastic views and the decor.

It is very comfortable and well situated. Kitchen is well equipped Our only issue is the smell on the shared stairway, which is probably tobacco from a flat below. This time we took our own air fresheners!

Only downside is the smell of tobacco on the communal stairs which does creep into the flat

Nice apartment overlooking the prom, lovely views and very spacious.

A few things could be improved though: a stair gate for the steps in the landing would be good. Also, some of the windows didn't close properly, and there was a constant smell of cigarette smoke. Partially hidden by incense sticks, but perhaps better to sort out the source of the problem.
