Beaumaris Holiday Cottages

Beaumaris - a bustling Georgian seaside town with plenty to see and do!

Beaumaris, Anglesey, North Wales

Beaumaris is home to the last of Edward I’s ‘Iron Ring’ castle fortresses. It was built by the English monarch to suppress the rebellious Welsh in the 13th century. The town’s name comes from the French ‘beau marais’ - ‘beautiful marsh’, reflecting the French language used by the English court at that time. Beaumaris castle last saw action during the English civil war and is well preserved for visitors. There are some interesting town traditions: on Boxing Day, the town’s mayor throws hot pennies to children from the balcony of the Bulkeley Arms Hotel. Menai Holidays has a great range of Beaumaris holiday cottages, ranging from cosy romantic retreats to family friendly houses.
